As I write this, the final results of the 2022 midterm election remain in doubt, but it appears that the Republicans will win a bare majority in the House and gain half the Senate. Georgia’s Senate race will be determined in a runoff. Regardless of whoever wins there, Georgia will not produce a very good Senator. (more…)

It would appear that, once again, the Republican Party has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, leaving the unlearned and forgetful masses somehow wondering how this could be. To me the answer is quite obvious. The kosher Right is very quick to throw accusations around about election fraud, to lament about unmarried women, and even, surprisingly, to talk of the “brown wave” at odds with the “white wave.” (more…)

After reading Doug Huntington’s insightful review of It Follows, David Robert Mitchell’s excellent horror film, I watched the movie for the first time. Set in Detroit, its austere, derelict cityscape was an eerie amalgam of crumbling industry and disused grandeur which was juxtaposed with a near-idyllic white suburbia.
Detroit’s dark inner-city denizens, distant shambling creatures, are relegated to the background; they are viewed in passing from afar by the film’s main characters as they drive into the city in search of answers. (more…)

This year, Counter-Currents is raising $300,000. Because of our donors’ astounding generosity, we are almost 2/3 of the way there. Our grand total is $199,446.94. That puts us at 65% of our goal. Have you donated yet? Because we are a little more than $550 dollars from the $200,000 mark. You can be the one who puts us over.
Since half of all fundraising in the US happens in November and December, being 2/3 of the way to our goal on November 11th is very auspicious. (more…)

We have no idea what the final outcome of the US midterm elections will be, with several crucial races having yet to be called, and nobody is promising anything until next week — and even then, the Chairman of Arizona’s Maricopa County Board of Supervisors is saying, “Don’t hold me to it.” (That’s code for “Ignore this shady stuff and please don’t do another January 6, okay?”)
In the meantime, let’s take a look at four of the most interesting Republican candidates and one who flopped. (more…)

It is Friday, November 11th, 2022, and if America is the greatest nation in the world, why do we still not know the final results of Tuesday’s midterm elections? (more…)

“The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it.” — Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
The last article of mine that our editors at Counter–Currents kindly published was about the masculine topic of military history. To complement a foray into the Napoleonic Wars, I included a clip from the 1970 film Waterloo.[1] In the comments, a reader shared an observation about one of the few Waterloo scenes that did not take place on a battlefield. Instead, this particular scene immersed audiences in a Brussels high-society fête, where the Duchess of Richmond hosted the Duke of Wellington’s officers at her famous summer Ball of 1815. (more…)

Well, there was no “Red Wave.” It hardly even qualified as a Red Spurt.
It wasn’t a sweep. It wasn’t even a light dusting. This was the puniest “reckoning” in electoral history. This would have been an uncharacteristically meager midterm pushback even during relatively normal times. (more…)
