You’ve probably heard at some point or another of the Anglo-Saxon king Æthelred the Unready. His name means nobly advised, or well-advised. His moniker, the Unready — Unræed in Old English — means unadvised, or poorly advised. Æthelred presided over England’s defeats by the Danish, first against Sweyn (Sven) Forkbeard and after that to Sweyn’s son Canute (Knut) the Great. While he did regain his throne, it is doubtful whether the old Anglo-Saxon Kingdom and the Wessex/Cerdicing dynasty ever recovered. The tragedy at Hastings was midwifed by Æthelred’s poor counsel. It would appear that, once again, the Republican Party has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, leaving the unlearned and forgetful masses somehow wondering how this could be. To me the answer is quite obvious. The kosher Right is very quick to throw accusations around about election fraud, to lament about unmarried women, and even, surprisingly, to talk of the “brown wave” at odds with the “white wave.” (more…)

A rap festival ended in death last week. Eight people were fatally trampled and dozens more injured at “Astroworld,” a concert hosted by popular rapper Travis Scott. A new style of meme has cropped up on our side of YouTube known as “Little Dark Age.” The gist of it is that there is a series of videos which play the catchy end of the song “Little Dark Age” by MGMT in the background as typical images of modern degeneracy are flashed on the screen. Midway through the video, which is usually a couple of minutes long, the song picks up, and nostalgic images of past Western glory replace the modern images. (more…)
