Elle Reeve
Black Pill: How I Witnessed the Darkest Corners of the Internet Come to Life, Poison Society, and Capture American Politics
New York: Simon & Schuster, 2024

Elle Reeve made a career covering the “Alt Right,” its precursors, and its aftermath, including the Charlottesville trials and January 6, first for Vice and then for CNN. Black Pill is a memoir of her time on the Alt Right beat.

Reeve, like most mainstream “journalists,” is a hard Leftist who would like White Nationalism to be simply outlawed and crushed by the state. However, until the Bill of Rights is abolished and an Iron Rainbow descends on America, she will be content to write journalistic briefs in favor of corporate censorship, legal harassment, and antifa terrorism.

This was more or less clear from the start. Nevertheless, she was given a huge amount of information and very personal access over the years by such figures as Richard Spencer, Matt Parrott, Matt Heimbach, Christopher Cantwell, Jeff Schoep, and Frederick Brennan (the founder of 8chan). In Black Pill, she thanks them by painting them as a collection of loathsome and laughable freaks.

The grotesque, voyeuristic, and exploitative tone of the book is set on the first page. It begins with a curvy goth tart having sex with a three-foot dwarf with brittle bones. This is our introduction to Fred Brennan, who is severely disabled with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a disease that his mother also suffers from. Yes, the mother chose to have children and pass her crippling condition on to them. Naturally, Brennan grew up with a hatred of women, both his mother and the women whom he assumed would never have sex with him. He also became an advocate of eugenics, including the sterilization of people such as his mother. Early on, Brennan became an incel blogger running a site called Wizardchan. Then he lost his incel status when he met a woman perverse enough to have sex with him. We are also treated to a threesome with a fat incel known only as “Bear.” All this, however, is merely the prequel to Brennan founding the infamous 8chan, a free-speech message board that, along with 4chan, was an incubator of what was later called the Alt Right. For that crime, Brennan must be stripped of all dignity by someone he seemed to regard as a friend and confidante.

The second chapter is a jumble introducing characters who will later be treated at greater length, chiefly Richard Spencer, Matt Parrott, Bill Regnery, and Matt Heimbach.

Bill Regnery (1941–2021) was a wealthy promoter of white racialism and nationalism. He founded The Occidental Quarterly, an academically rigorous journal that deals with topics such as biological race differences and the Jewish question. The Occidental Quarterly is published by a 501(c)(3) called the Charles Martel Society, which Reeve paints as a cabal of “old racists” pulling the strings of the movement. Regnery also founded the H. L. Mencken Club, the National Policy Institute, and Washington Summit Publishers.

I never really got to know Bill Regnery, but I respected him for the institutions he founded and the money he brought to the cause. In truth, the only bad thing Regnery ever did was put Richard Spencer in charge of anything. First, Regnery bankrolled Spencer’s original Alternative Right webzine, which launched in 2010. Then, in 2011, Regnery put Spencer in charge of the National Policy Institute and Washington Summit Publishers. Regnery once said proudly that history would remember him for being the patron of Richard Spencer. Sadly, that might be true.

Running a webzine and publishing house was not a good fit for a man who described himself to Reeve as “almost retarded because of my dyslexia.” Spencer also diagnoses himself as a “narcissist,” which basically means: vain and phony. Sadly, Regnery never saw through him.

In Black Pill, Spencer repays Regnery’s generosity and trust with contempt and betrayal. Spencer gave Reeve  confidential correspondence with Regnery. He also refers to Regnery as a “vampire,” painting himself as a victim. The truth is the exact reverse: Spencer was the parasite who eagerly took Regnery’s money and institutions, then destroyed everything he touched.

Chapters 3 and 4 focus on Parrott and Heimbach. This is Reeve at her most despicable and unethical. Apparently, Heimbach decided to settle scores with Parrott by sharing a great deal of personal information about Parrott’s deceased ex-wife Connie, who had been chronically ill with severe diabetes, developed an addiction to painkillers, and eventually killed herself after leaving Matt. Even though Reeve never met Connie, she telescopically diagnoses her as suffering from Munchausen’s syndrome.

What does this sad tale have to do with White Nationalism? Nothing, really. But Reeve believes that Matt Parrott deserves to be publicly humiliated because of his beliefs. For good measure, why not torture him a bit with painful memories? His reputation must also be destroyed by painting him as . . . what, exactly? A man who stuck by his marriage vows, particularly the “in sickness and in health” part? A guy who was a bit too nice for his own good? We haters may never recover from such revelations. The only reputations these chapters destroy are of the vipers Reeve and Heimbach.

Chapter 4 is another jumble. (Does Simon & Schuster no longer employ editors?) It ends with this paragraph:

“Sometimes when you hate something so much, you’re so motivated that you’ll make these connections, and they might be correct almost despite your motivations,” Richard Spencer told me. He was talking about a rival white nationalist he thought was a vicious gossip. They’d feuded for years. But his rival had once accused him of auditioning to be on the Kremlin’s payroll, and years later Spencer admitted that, in retrospect, that catty bitch was on to something. (p. 79)

That “catty bitch,” of course, is me. When you get past the self-congratulation, paranoia, and well-poisoning, Spencer is admitting that I was right in 2014 when I called him out for turning his second webzine, Radix, as well as the National Policy Institute, into outlets for Kremlin-penned anti-Ukraine propaganda. I didn’t accuse him of taking Kremlin money, because I wasn’t sure he did. But I did accuse him of selling out “on spec,” in the hope of gaining the support of a hostile foreign power. It didn’t take magical levels of hate to see that. It was plain for everyone to see. Gregory Hood basically admitted it in an article for Radix.

Chapter 5, “The Useful Idiot,” is about Richard Spencer’s relationship with Russia. It begins with Spencer saying, “I absolutely will not betray my country” (p. 81). This, of course, has a lot of credibility coming from a man who has betrayed his wife, his benefactor Bill Regnery, and practically everyone else who trusted him.

Why is Spencer so eager to swear allegiance to ZOG? Obviously, because he’s scared. Later, Reeve quotes correspondence between Spencer and Regnery about courting Russian state sponsorship. She also mentions that both Spencer and his Russian ex-wife Nina Kouprianova were questioned by the FBI about their ties to Russia.

Naturally, Charles Bausman, the American publisher of Russia Insider, comes up. Bausman’s job seems to have been to recruit American racists, anti-Semites, and outright neo-Nazis to sing the praises of Russia’s de-Nazification campaign in Ukraine. Astonishingly, people took that deal. I’d love to know how he got people such as Spencer and the leaders of the now-defunct National Justice Party such as Mike Peinovich, Eric Striker, and Greg Conte on board. Bausman fled to Russia after January 6th, but I doubt the FBI has closed any of its files on Bausman and associates.

Given what we believe is at stake — the literal existence of the white race — why would anyone be so foolish as to compromise our principles and credibility, confuse our messaging, and jeopardize our movement’s ability to operate by siding with America’s geopolitical enemies, especially since they are all anti-white as well?

Reeve likewise depicts Christopher Cantwell and Elliot Kline (aka Eli Mosley) as freakish and dishonorable. But I don’t know enough about either of them to evaluate Reeve’s honesty.

Why did these people — and countless Alt-Right bit players — trust Elle Reeve, sometimes over a period of nearly a decade?

Part of it, surely, is that they felt sorry for her. She’s homely and seems somewhat dumb. Some of them saw her as harmless, even vulnerable. She is also willing to put up with teasing and bullying, which for some of these men seems to be a kind of foreplay, to be followed by enormous deliverances of embarrassing personal and even criminal confessions. This is actually an extremely intelligent interrogation strategy. In a movement of horny dorks, Elle Reeve was quite the femme fatale.

Another reason they trusted her is that she sometimes seemed a bit open to them. In this book, however, that impression is forever laid to rest. Reeve doesn’t just tell their stories. She also tells her story, weaving in what she thought about the people and events she saw. I hate this sort of  “Dear diary, this is what I feel about the evil racists I met today” writing. But the hateful inner monologues she narrates prove that she is a cold, cynical, Machiavellian operator. That’s true of all journalists.

Others even thought she liked them. That’s certainly the case with Brennan. After Reeve first interviewed Spencer, he and his fanboys were convinced that she was “really into him.” Male vanity is a strange thing. Guys often convince themselves that strippers, whores, and reporters are “really into me.”

But Reeve’s informants weren’t just naïve. They were also cynical. As I explain in “In Bed with the Press,” a review of Vegas Tenold’s book Everything You Love Will Burn, Spencer and the two Matts had a calculated strategy behind their willingness to talk to the press and even groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center. They wanted to be leaders. On the assumption that White Nationalists will accept as leaders anyone the mainstream media and anti-racist watchdogs say are leaders, they courted the attention of the enemy. Sadly, they were right. It worked, for a while.

You can buy Greg Johnson’s Toward a New Nationalism here.

Moreover, to maximize media attention they played into certain Hollywood anti-white stereotypes. Spencer played the villainous, rich WASP snob, and Heimbach the hateful, rural, Southern redneck. Heimbach, at least, was acting, since he was from a solidly middle-class professional family from the Washington, DC suburbs.

What is baffling, though, is that long after their dreams of leadership had crashed and burned, Spencer and the two Matts continued to talk to Reeve.

Parrott apparently wanted to share the lessons he’d learned. But it seems amazing that he trusted her to convey them.

Heimbach clearly had scores to settle.

In Spencer’s case, the main motives seem to be narcissism and score-settling.

Spencer and his former lieutenant Evan McLaren are also very concerned to make clear to everyone that they are turncoats. Both turned over correspondence with their former comrades to antifa types.

For instance, the new Richard Spencer told Reeve, “I care about civilization more than race.” Besides tweeting, Spencer’s primary service to civilization now seems to be working with a fellow named Mark Brahmin to create an internet cult called Apolloism. Here’s a taste of the new, reassuringly post-racist Richard Spencer:

“I hate Christianity, okay?” Spencer said. “I hate Jesus Christ. I would have oppressed the hell out of — I know that I come from Roman blood, the kind of people who would fucking crucify him, who would go in and knock down your stupid fucking temple — that’s who I fucking am, Elle,” he said. “In case there’s any ambiguity about the  type of person I am, that is the type of person I am.” . . . “Everyone’s like, Oh, we need more democracy or We need more rights — it’s like, what are you fucking talking about?” he said. “We’ve had more democracy and liberalism and all this Christian Semitic stuff — we have more than that than we’ve ever had. . . . We’ve tried the shit, sister.” . . . But of the race stuff, Spencer said, “You have to move past it.” (p. 241)

There are a lot of lessons here.

The biggest is: White Nationalists need to learn how to spot silly, dishonorable, and downright evil people before we put them in positions of responsibility. Having a popular podcast does not make you a leader of anything.

The other big lesson is: White Nationalists should not talk to reporters. If you do, it should only be to pass disinformation or gather information from them. But even that’s dangerous. I’ve broken that rule a couple of times, and when I read books such as Black Pill, I feel lucky that it did not blow up in my face. It would have served me right.

Reeve slimed everyone who talked to her. Those who didn’t talk to her escaped. Some were barely mentioned. Others were ignored completely. Indeed, wide swathes of the movement, including people who played prominent roles in Charlottesville, were not mentioned at all.

When I finished Black Pill, I didn’t feel black-pilled. I just felt dirty. Then I reminded myself that the best people I have ever met are also White Nationalists. Black Pill should really be called Freak Show, but the most repulsive freak is the author, not the people she so coldly befriended and betrayed.

“She is also willing to put up with teasing and bullying, which for some of these men seems to be a kind of foreplay…”

    Amen and amen!

These types ruin everything.  They are a net negative, as they are, no matter what truths they might happen to utter.  Why?  Because the messenger matters! how he carries himself, how he deals with others, even his enemies.

There’s a simple test, a filter, through which people run the claims of those with controversial views especially.  Even if subconsciously, they ask themselves, “What kind of neighbor would this guy make?  Supposing I start agreeing with him philosophically, then what?  How would he deal with a minor disagreement if we had one?  How maturely or viciously?  How would he treat my wife, my kids?  How would he talk about me to his closer friends?”

WN edgelords, apropos of impulse control, make Negroes look Norwegian.

I think about the fight itself sometimes, like everyone.  But far more often, it’s the aftermath I ponder: This ruthless mercenary (“Chariot Chad”), seemingly in it for the misanthropy and only because White Nationalism (the most hated game in town) “pays” him the most for his efforts in terms of popular revulsion, would be the world’s biggest shit to deal with after the dust settled and the time came for understanding, adjustment, and inglorious labor.

It’s not that difficult.  Get some old copies of Highlights magazine and read Goofus and Gallant; get a copy of Emily Post’s Etiquette; and figure out how to be a decent human being.  And while you’re at it, maybe drop the old miscreant anon account you’ve done so much damage with and create a new one, resolved to be more civil.  Like a white man.

Is there anyone Spencer has not screwed over or betrayed?  I am not familiar with all the lore so a lot of this was new to me, the details of which will be forgotten.  The particulars with Gregory Conte alone should give any sane person pause about Richard Spencer.

On podcasts or streams where they talk about some movie or whatever, Spencer does offer some interesting commentary.  Brahmin never did, rendering it unlistenable/unwatchable.

Have to agree with you there.  Brahmin is astonishingly ignorant of the subject on which he poses as in-house expert, the Western mythological canon.  So much so I can almost believe he deliberately misleads; his muddleheaded analyses consistently resolve upon Jews having created all of White peoples’ culture.

There’s something of the old faith-healing, carny-barker about him as a person.  I’m starting to think of him as Colonel Parker to Spencer’s “Charlottesville Chad”.  Except that that arrangement at least would produce more entertainment value.

Her entire appearance just screams out “ I’m a hardcore leftist who is beyond salvation.” Shame on anyone who would trust her. Thanks for reading this for us Greg. I’m sure each turn of the page made you a little more queasy.

Did these dorks really give Reeve “embarrassing personal and even criminal confessions” as Johnson alleges? Mind-blowing.

Thanks for writing this.  I want to read this book, but I will wait to get it from the library for obvious reasons.

It kind of saddens me that some of our guys have such personal problems and someone would actually stoop to put them on public display like this.  They are probably only hungry for attention, hence easy to victimize.   And yet these guys have done great work in spite of their problems!  Occidental Quarterly is seminal; that engendered Occidental Observer and Counter Currents after all.

In my experience, if a woman grows up affluent and ugly, she’s an almost guaranteed leftist. They gravitate to feminism due to bitterness towards men, then from there they engage with the rest of the left’s ideology. Slave morality resonates with them because they view themselves as victims of discrimination based on their appearance; many will openly state as much by alleging that they were bullied as children.

Wild guess that her marriage to a guy named Greenfield might also be a factor.

It’s still astounding to me.  Being liberal is one thing.  I understand why people get to think that way.  On the other hand, being a so-called journalist dedicated to opposing advocacy for your race is another matter entirely, as well as befriending people so that you can trash-talk them later.

I’ll admit that my standards of appearance are rather forgiving, but if the heading picture is representative, then she doesn’t look bad to me.  For someone to get that twisted up, I’d expect her to have a green tentacle coming out of her forehead or something.  It’s ironic that the handicapped guy she mocked in the beginning seems to have had his head screwed on straighter than hers.

I’m surprised to see several people objecting to her being described as ugly. She has very wideset eyes, bad acne scarring, overly broad nostrils and philtrum, snaggletooth, overbite, recessed jaw, and a broad forehead. Her only desirable traits are blonde hair and blue eyes.

And to be clear, I only point this out because this is the level of discourse Reeve engages in. She’s always pathologizing and demeaning her political opponents for various things about their appearance and background, so I feel totally justified in pointing out that she is ugly.

In this case, it seems a favorable photo did wonders.  Maybe the acne got airbrushed.  The glasses deemphasize some of the things you mentioned.  From the angle, I can’t tell if she has Neanderthal jaw or not.  On closer examination of the full-sized picture, she could benefit from an orthodontist.  As for the wide forehead, I won’t hold it against her.

Wow, almost sixty comments so far.

I don’t know much about the drama here other than that Elle Reeve had an obsession about Pepe the Deplorables frog, which was pretty triggering for those silently suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome ─ but I do feel qualified enough to comment on this lady’s looks.

I don’t think it is fair to call her ugly. Her teeth are not nearly as bad as Mike Myers.

And I note that she is not fat nor is she covered in skanky tattoos or piercings. So add major points.

If she ditched the “problem glasses” for contacts or some more reasonably-sized and stylish frames, and if she stays on top of a (very important) daily shampoo regimen, she would be fine.

In the world of high-definition, the peasant with a bottle of shampoo is the absolute monarch.

Furthermore, let’s put all this into perspective.

If you browse around just about any military base, you will find in the laundromats all kinds of desperate guys with girlfriends who make Elspeth Reeve look like a ten.

And add extra points (bigly) if the blond girlfriend does not have any ready-made Mulattos or Caballeros in tow.

If I remember correctly, Elle’s first husband was a boring and slow-witted Army guy, who was apparently journalizing atrocity-porn for thirty pieces of silver and matrimonial boiled bunny.

Apparently Elle did not take too well to being the stifled Army wife, nor did she want to make friends with her counterparts on post. She was not interested in starting a family either, I guess. Dat clock do tick fast.

I am a bit baffled as to why her personal situation as an Army wife was so much worse than being a cashier at Walmart, which is exactly what she looks like to me.

Give Elle Reeve a blue smock, at least fifteen pieces of flair, and some improvised explosives, and she could be the next Baader-Meinhof silkscreen.

Later Elle married a media Jew, or maybe he’s a New York lawyer, I forget. But I note that she has still not made it to CBS weathergirl nor passed Go.

Bottom line ─ if you are going to aspire to a professional career, at least develop some skills and talent. Edginess is no substitute for substance.

            🙂

Thanks for the solid review of a book I would never read. A few comments.

I had a friend who knew Bill Regnery and thought very highly of him. Sad to see how he got suckered into some kind of Spencer cult. For Spencer to call him a “vampire” is simply appalling.

I always hated Spencer (though I did not know of his dyslexia, and still think he was egregiously mistreated by our criminal injustice regime following Charlottesville, in which he personally did nothing wrong as far as I know from the record). He used to censor most of my comments (which were similar in form and content to mine here) at the nascent Takimag (when they had comments). It really used to enrage me.

I wonder why people fell for him. Never having met the guy, I would opine that maybe it was because he was young and energetic; better than average looking; better than average “educated”; and perhaps naturally pushy. Maybe also a bit like Trump in being a classic over-promiser and under-deliverer. I had a friend like this once (though of sounder character than Spencer). Very extroverted, a big talker, small doer.

I feel sorry for this Fred Brennan. I’m a eugenicist, but I still don’t like to see disabled or sick people abused or exploited in any way. Leftists in general are bad people. Even the ones I’ve known who were not actual evildoers were also not especially kind or generous on a strictly personal level. All their “altruism” was expressed via their opinions, and to be effectuated through socialist government. Rare is the leftist who will stop his car on the road to help someone change a flat tire. But they’ll certainly spout off …

Heimbach was always disgusting. People like him (and Spencer) must be kept out of leadership or influencer positions in the prowhite movement (but how to do that without fail?).

Bottom line? We need more solid types like Greg and Jared Taylor. How can the good ones be identified early on and supported?

Spencer is superficially appealing. But given time, people see through him. Regnery never did. I don’t know why, because I did not know Regnery. I suspect that Spencer was on his best behavior to drain Regnery of money. I also think Regnery had a high tolerance for fratty douchebag behavior. But given what Regnery believed was at stake, he had no right to be so foolish.

That’s very true.  Actually a big theme in nineteenth century literature, to be found in dickens, Emerson, and Carlisle was that feigned concern for people far away, such as slaves in Barbados, is really a form of spite against people around one, as a way of setting their troubles or sufferings at naught.

Exactly! Even as an observant teenager I witnessed many leftist people around me to be mean-spirited and nasty. Quite the opposite for people who may be considered “far right ” and held controversial views (especially regarding WWII, if you know what I mean). They were mostly kind and chivalrous even to “minorities “.

Interesting insight, likely true. I know about Dickens’s Mrs. Jellyby, with her “telescopic philanthropy”, from Bleak House, but have no idea where Emerson or Carlisle remark upon the same phenomenon. You should consider submitting an essay on this theme, which is of great interest to me, especially in its more general aspects (“the moral psychology of the Left”). At the least, I’d appreciate having any citations you might recall to places where Emerson and/or Carlisle discuss this topic. I would definitely make us of them in the book I’m researching and hope to live long enough to write.

Yeah, the bleak house thing is what I had in mind with dickens. I was going to mention it, but couldn’t remember the specifics well enough. With Emerson, I think it was just one offhand remark in one essay and I think he was probably getting it from Dickens and Carlisle. With Carlisle there is more. I’m not nearly an expert enough in Victorian literature to undertake such a task, though. I will mention to you anything that I happen to come across though.

As usual, I appreciate the article. Except for a single passage

“why would anyone be so foolish as to compromise our principles and credibility, confuse our messaging, and jeopardize our movement’s ability to operate by siding with America’s geopolitical enemies”

To answer you, with your own words

“The literal existence of the white race”

I’m not saying that siding with Russia is the correct or moral position. But the unfortunate truth is that America’s geopolitical enemies are very often on the “right” side, or at least the less viscerally anti-white side, depending on who and where we’re discussing.

No. We can’t be taken seriously as white advocates and shill for anti-whites just because they are anti-American. America isn’t the ultimate problem. Anti-white ideas are.

I never said anything about “shilling for Anti-Whites”

The American Government is Anti-White. That is undeniable. And I’m not telling you to shill for their opponents. But I see no reason to support the United States in any international endeavor that could potentially increase their world standing. Why should white advocates support the United States against foreign adversaries? Are the Taliban secretly super anti-White, and just waiting for their chance to strike against our white majority? Is Kim-Jong Un really a bigger threat to white Americans than Donald Trump or Joe Biden? I don’t think so. There is no good reason to support the actions of the US federal government.

Since when is not shilling for America’s geopolitical enemies equivalent to supporting the US government or any other government? That’s a nice false dichotomy there. How about we just stay focused on combatting anti-white ideas and building our own movement? That means keeping our principles and messaging clear, building and maintaining our credibility, and not engaging in illegal activity like money laundering and being unregistered agents of foreign powers.

I read the first page.  The girl can’t write.  The tossed-off comments on any of the big dissident sites show a greater feel for the language.

In a sane world this would have gone from slush pile to recyling bin in under two minutes.  She could spend her whole life at it and never come up with something on the level of “the iron rainbow” (which I am stealing and will henceforth pass off as my own).

Simon and Schuster used to stand for quality.  If someone there did edit this book, imagine how it read upon submission.

Spencer is a traitor.  I had to struggle to remember some of the others.  I had never heard of Fred Brennan but he sounds like he could have crawled out of a Harry Crews novel, and the same goes for Elle Reeve.

Pretty sure I got the Iron Rainbow from Jim Goad, though I was consciously thinking of Boyd Rice’s Iron Gardener.

Boyd Rice used “iron gardener” on the track “People” from his 1990 album Music, Martinis, and Misanthropy:

        We need a gardener
        A brutal gardener
        A thorough, thoughtful gardener
        An iron gardener

        I’ve used “iron rainbow” twice.

        2010:

“What one might refer to as “indigenous Europeans”—you know, the palefaces, the Ice People, the Ghost Men, the Evil Aryans, the Abominable Snowmen”—are beginning to chafe at the iron rainbow to which they’ve been yoked since World War II.”

        2021:

“Nearly three decades after apartheid ended and an Iron Rainbow was constructed over South Africa — leading to untold joy among idiot musicians — a full-scale race war may emerge.”

I wonder what people like Regnery saw in Spencer. It wasn’t his intellectual output, surely – his columns for Takimag were milquetoast. He had no original insights, just warmed over paleocon takes about how conservatives worship MLK.

The first time I heard Spencer was back in 2013 on one of his old Alt-Right podcasts that were co-hosted by Colin Liddell and Andy Nowicki. The topic Spencer wished to talk about was the development of he and his co-host’s ideas. Spencer went first and spoke for nearly two hours. He didn’t explain why he became a white advocate, except to say that when he traveled to Germany in 2003 he was impressed by its homogeneity.

Instead he gave listeners a chronology of his adult life. It was full of boring minutia, like where he went to school, whom he worked for, etc. When it was Liddell and Nowicki’s turn to speak, Spencer acted like he didn’t care about their backgrounds and hurried them along. They spoke for no more than 20 minutes combined, after Spencer went on for almost 2 hours.

Spencer said he dropped out of his PhD program to become a “thought criminal,” but I see no reason why he couldn’t have waited until he finished his education to do that. Spencer makes it seem like there was some opportune moment that he had to seize back in 2006.

The more I learned about Spencer, the more he reminded me of people I have known who failed in life and took it out on others. He’s like someone who graduated from Harvard and wound up working at McDonald’s.

Spencer resents the people in the online right because it’s not where he pictured himself when he began his studies. He thought he’d work in a white collar atmosphere around people like himself.

Spencer doesn’t care about the survival of white people. Seeking leadership as a white nationalist was a cheap and easy way for him to get notoriety after failing academically. He was always going to torpedo the movement.

The movement needs to purge social rejects who bring toxicity to it. Off the top of my head, some of the incels who continuously bash White women need to be removed from the movement since they are consumed by bitterness that prevents any effective advocacy and drives decent men and women away. Instead of blaming women or society for not having established a family, they should instead look within on the cause. There is a reason why people don’t like incels.

This article shows why the only acceptable WN public figure should be a decent educated gentleman with old-fashioned Christian morals. Someone who could be a school principal, local doctor or a police chief in the interwar era.  No anti-social darwinists, arrogant bullies, narcissistic upstarts, irrational mystics, freaks or semi-criminals from the underclass.

I understand your impulse here and generally tend toward it, but recognize that different tools are needed for different jobs, just as there are different advertising campaigns directed at different sub-groups.

What we don’t need is an overtly ‘supernatural’ element to our political discourse and in the end every ‘Christian’ ends up resorting to supernatural ‘reasoning’ when pressed.

As much as pro-White Christians seek to explain the whys and wherefores of how Christianity came to be an instrument of anti-White-ism, in the end the reason is simple: Christianity never existed to protect the interests of the White race. Consequently, there are no resources within the faith to construct a defense of the White race (that wouldn’t equally apply to other races with whom we are at war).

I see nothing wrong with a pro-White Christian seeking to proselytize for a ‘pro-White’ orientation of their common faith.

But it would be foolish to put such a person in front of a-religous Whites as an exemplar of the movement.

For the same reason I reject presenting a ‘right-wing White’ as the spokesperson for the movement.

A pro-White movement has to find a revolutionary consciousness that systematically subsumes all sub-racial sources of divisions as ‘largely irrelevant’ to the survival and advancement of the White race.

I honestly don’t see that we have that revolutionary consciousness or the support discourse yet, but I do feel like it is emerging.

I completely agree but would also add: the vast majority of Christian faiths in both the 20th and 21st century have not only done nothing to defend the interests of whites, they have also enthusiastically supported any and all efforts at replacement of whites, mandatory negro-worship, forced integration (i.e. “civil rights”), and every other manifestation of anti-white horseshit.  And they have used Christian principles of universalism to justify every bit of that support.  Why any die-hard Christian should be trusted in a position of white leadership is a question that should be answered fully and satisfactorily before being allowed to happen.

I’m curious.  What alternatives do you think exist to “Christian principles of universalism?  Principles of universalism are not Christian.  They are universal.  Together, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism, all explicitly proselytizing religions, account for the majority of the human population at over 60%.

The 15% of the world population that is Hindu is also universalist.    We’re all equal atmans working our way through Karmic existence (samsara) back to the transcendent, singular Brahman (moksha).  (If you don’t believe me, go to India and find yourself a yoga teacher. I promise your Whiteness will not be seen as any impediment to your ability to benefit from any discipline of yoga or meditation.) Everyone else’s prophets, sages, and demigods are but avatars of Vishnu, Shiva, or Shakti, depending on whom you ask, though of course these three are in reality all one.  But for Hinduism’s ability to swallow and digest its competitors, the other three religions mentioned above would have divided their population between them.

The 15% of the population that we call nones are also virtually all universalists, if, as I suspect, they are Western or Westernized humanists.  Indeed, many of them are nones precisely because they are universalists!  They renounce their natal affiliation on account of their disgust at the idea that God doesn’t love outgroup members and means to send them to hell for eternal conscious torment.

Now, back to my original question.  What are the alternatives to “Christian principles of universalism.”  Ancestor worship?  I know, Odin is very cool.  I am also about 99% certain that if Norse paganism had survived to the present day, Odin would not exist as we know him.  The philosophers would have done with him exactly as they did with the Olympic Pantheon, the Vedic deities, Jahweh, etc.:  allegorized, syncretized, and universalized him into a local variation of the One True God of ethical monotheism.  Why the hell would the Germans be any different?

I’m sorry that human spiritual intuitions don’t accord with your preferences, but they remain as they are nonetheless.  Moreover, that globalization remains unpopular throughout the world, despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of the human population adheres to one universalist religion or another, should be a major White pill.  Your pessimism about White Christians’ ability to take their own side is unwarranted.

Nothing whatsoever is to be gained by alienating Christians, who have proven themselves to be singularly resistant to wokeness.  True egalitarians cannot be Cultural Marxists, which posits evil oppressor races and sanctified victim groups.

Anyone who got into the Avatar series might remember the intro:

“Earth.  Air.  Water.  Fire.  Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished.

It reads like an alternative account of the Fall from Primeval Paradise, don’t you think?  I see a thinly-veiled demonization, isolation, and declaration of race war on White people, but whatever it is, it’s most certainly not orthodox Christianity.  Christians maintain that God’s grace is available to non-Whites as well as Whites, the Woke believe that God’s grace is for Whites only, as the holy, sinless others and sundry noble savages have no need of it.  Do you really not understand this?

I think White people have earned the right to freedom of their consciences. So I see no harm if they want to be Christians, and for as long as they want to be, as long as they do not fight White Nationalists.

That being said, I think Christianity is politically dead, never to be revived ─ and I don’t want to see it back ever again.

St. Thomas More ─ the author of Utopia (1516) and the martyr who burned many a heretic to death for King and Pope, and then lost his own head for siding with the Pontiff over the sordid royal divorce ─ can rest peacefully in his grave. I think we must have and keep a high wall between Church and State.

I think all religions ultimately default to the supernatural and some magical connection to the Afterworld ─ and they drink some considerable Kool-Aid in doing so.

No thanks. I’m comfortable in my own skin, and the cosmos is what it is, regardless. I know nothing of the Æther from before I was born, nor what if anything will come. But I have gained enough wisdom not to believe any popular story or wishful thinking for its own sake.

You ask what alternative there is to Christianity… Well, I don’t know anything other than that they cannot possibly have all the answers either. I do not see how lame superstition informs epistemology in any way except in the negative.

We, racial comrades, have to grow up, forget about Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, and live our lives the best that we can. We should try to live up to the legacy left by our ancestors, and try to set our descendants onto a course that makes us proud. We have to find our own consciences; nobody can do that for us. If we hold anything sacred, it should be our friends and our family.

Truth is always the right answer. But if we start finding that truth in dogma, readings of tea leaves, crumbling scriptures, or somebody’s Holy Water, maybe we need to pause and take a fresh perspective.

            🙂

But they will do that, for grant money, immunity from racism charges, and twisted feelz following a lifetime of brainwashing.  The challenge for you is to recognize that they’re doing exactly what everyone else is doing.  We have seen green parties, who literally maintain that climate change is a threat to life on Earth, ignore any other priority to prevent WN from having any influence on politics in Europe.  Likewise, “feminists” turn a blind eye to foreign criminals sex trafficking troubled teen girls;  Labor unions continue to support establishment parties that support wage-busting mass immigration, etc.  Your job is to resist the temptation to single out Christians, who have, if anything, more conservative instincts than various secular constituencies.

            “Tooth fairy”

            “tea leaves”

            “crumbling Scriptures”

Well, look at that.  I think you’ve managed to offend pagans as well as Christians with this list of pejoratives.

Anyway, I’m going to hazard a guess here that you don’t have kids.  If you did, you would know that pulling off the whole Santa Claus/Easter Bunny/Tooth Fairy thing is quite the undertaking.  Children are smart.  They’ll only believe in Santa Claus if they see something that needs explaining and is in fact explained by the Santa Claus hypothesis.  B. Russell’s Celestial Teapot (or was it a Flying Spaghetti Monster?) thought experiment fails for precisely this reason.

Old New Atheist Richard Dawkins has famously defined biology as “the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose.”  Appearance, he says, because Darwinian evolution takes the place of the parents smuggling the presents under the tree while the children are nestled in their beds with visions of sugar-plums dancing in their heads.

He will come to rue that concession, because evolution isn’t up to the job of creating the appearance of design.  Meanwhile, findings from the James Webb telescope have struck another blow against materialism as the rate of expansion seems to preclude eventual recollapse, which would arguably allow for an oscillating, and therefore cyclical universe that pantheists and reactionaries prefer.  All this might happen again, but you’ll need someone to press the restart button when the time comes.

The times, they are a-changin’.  You arrogant dismissal of theism is unwarranted and out of touch.  There’s no need to alienate potential converts who, after all, believe in universal standards of right and wrong and have in the past shown themselves very much willing to fight for them.

If we hold anything sacred, it should be our friends and our family.

I think I know what you mean, and I don’t want to be uncharitable, but in practical terms, this boils down to “chosenness” in some form or another, which is, I agree, the only logical alternative to what you call “Christian principles of universalism.”  In other words, the suggestion is that we should be like Jews.  I can’t see that going over with White people, and in any event, as I explained in my last post, the rest of the world seems perfectly capable of taking their own side without any claim of God’s unique favor.

White Nationalists should not talk to reporters. If you do, it should only be to pass disinformation or gather information from them. But even that’s dangerous.

And boom, circle gets the square!  Now that the internet allows us (with some challenges, admittedly) to get our message directly to the people, there is absolutely no use whatsoever in talking to a hostile media.  A good argument could be made that it wasn’t really that helpful BEFORE the internet, although I’m sure there were probably some converts as a result of the clusterfucks like the Geraldo and Morton Downey, Jr. shows.  But yes, you are going to be portrayed in absolutely the worst light possible, regardless of what you say or do.  It’s one of the reasons I always thought the “optics wars” were so incredibly stupid.  Wear a tux everyday if you want–you are still a Nazi and always will be.

Do you notice how similar Reeve and Spencer are in their bad character traits and motivations? They are both contemptuous narcissist driven by vanity and egotism.

Girls like Reeve want to belong to the media elite as paragons of liberal orthodoxy. The only ethical concept they learned about is anti-racism.  Despite posing as worried moralists they are unkind, backstabbing and vulgar.  They are typically sycophantic to those at the top and condescending and cruel to the weak.

Men like Spencer are anti-social bullies who mistake conceit, cockiness and arrogance for signs of strength. They are immoral negativists who crave for notoriety. They are smug and irritable. They pride themselves on acting like amoral pricks.

Significantly, both types want recognition from the mainstream media. While Reeve wants to be the courageous undercover girl-journalist who exposed the ranks of evil racists, Spencer wants to be known and feared as a dangerous neo-Nazi. You can say their World- view is very similar, they are both driven by conceit and ambition. They only cast themselves in different roles.

This all seems like ancient history.  Which leads me to ask, why is this book coming out now and who is the intended audience?

I perused the prologue in which she sets up her tired old boogeyman of a White Southerner, some local who harassed her family while she was growing up in the wilds of suburban Tennessee, a là Deliverance.  It reads like a dubious “recovered memory”.  Which she then projects onto the whole of the alt-right, as a movement, in a gargantuan non sequitor.

But, again, why now and for whom?  Listening to an old Colin Liddell interview with Luke Ford from 2018, I have an idea it may be mainstream media’s hauling out an old trope from the Trump years.  Liddell mentioned how Trump’s election “scared the sh!t out of the Left” and that they went after the alt-right, which “sticks out” as a soft target, in retaliation.  We are in an election year again after all.

Ha! It’s funny how Jew-controlled mainstream media are having to admit now that what some White loyalists have been saying about them for decades HAS BEEN TRUE ALL ALONG after their boy Biden has finally been exposed as a barely ambulatory vegetable.

Yes, the abortive alt-right that MSM promoted as a “threat” to their status quo was a soft target all right, but so is Trump a soft target. Did not the anti-Semitic rapper Kanye and the crazy Christian alt-righter Fuentes (who has vowed to kill all non-Christians when he and his crew take power) visit together for a photo-op with Trump at Mar-A-Lago a while back?

Maybe I got it wrong.  What a meeting that must have been. Fuentes will execute all sane people who don’t believe his bs, and Trump has vowed that he will eventually execute all anti-Semites (read: any of us who criticize perfidious Jewry). Don’t believe me?  Listen carefully to the Trumpster speak on today’s American Dissident Voices broadcast, here: “The Second Coming of Trumpery, part 1” at nationalvanguard.org

Donald Trump, in 2018 speech after a gunman shot up a synagogue (transcript):

The scourge of anti-Semitism cannot be ignored, cannot be tolerated, and it cannot be allowed to continue. We can’t allow it to continue. It must be confronted and condemned everywhere it rears its very ugly head. We must stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters to defeat anti-Semitism and vanquish the forces of hate. That’s what it is. Through the centuries, the Jews have endured terrible persecution, and you know that. We’ve all read it. We’ve studied it. They’ve gone through a lot. And those seeking their destruction, we will seek their destruction. [applause] And when you have crimes like this, whether it’s this one or another one on another group, we have to bring back the death penalty. [applause]

So, Trump wants to kill one set of truth-tellers — we, who tell the whole truth about Jewish perfidy, including his former Negro house guest, Kanye, ostensibly — and his other non-White booster, Fuentes, who vows to kill those truth-tellers among us who expose Christianity as the Jewish hoax it is.

      Once Trump recovers from his minor flesh wound, prepare to pull the lever in November for which of the two presidential candidates you prefer who wants you lovers-of-truth d-e-a-d. We are in an election year again, after all. ;o}

        “Minor flesh wound”

Well, yeah, but just a few centimeters over and it would have been a successful assassination during a live broadcast event.  And at least one audience member lost his life.

The wonder is that this hasn’t happened before. Not that Trump got shot at, but that antifa scum would target the people who go to the rallies. Evidently that is what the mass shooting at the concert in Las Vegas in 2017 was about. 60 dead and over 400 wounded.  Where is Elle Reeve’s treatise on that?

The mainstream media is radicalizing the TDS looney left.  In just the way Elle Reeve sets up a phantom as a frame of the real subjects in her stupid book, they see a boogeyman, not the person Trump actually is.  Or more importantly, who the people are who might attend his rallies or country music concerts.

It took me a while to find this old video, but this analysis of an interview with Stephen Paddock’s brother is very revealing.

          —

The Trumpsters and Jew-controlled Fox media whores are saying it was “divine intervention” that saved their man. I witnessed a Fox Negro sage actually say Jaysus himself saved Trump. You don’t believe that I hope.

If that last shoe I tossed had landed just a couple of centimeters to the left it would have been a ringer and I would have won the tournament instead of being the loser in second place.

The mainstream media is [sic] radicalizing the TDS looney left…

          —

The Daily Stormer?  If so, that TDS and the Jew-controlled MSM were like a hand in a well-fitting glove. Anglin was a good headline writer, but since no responsible adult had him on a short leash that’s about where his talent for our noble cause ended. Jews have controlled the mass news and entertainment industry for their racial interests and opposed to ours for nearly 100 years, especially since WWII. MSM didn’t radicalize the alt-right but did promote it as being serious opposition.

The genius White observer of our race’s demise, Douglas Mercer, had this to say about the teeny-weeny flesh wound yesterday:

Former President Donald Trump was last seen looking like a poor man’s version of Vincent Van Gogh with blood dripping from his ear; he was nearly shot by an assassin’s bullet. Good! Let’s load up on guns and if there has to be a blood bath let’s have it right now. Of course all the pundits will decry the violence but right now violence is apple pie; and soon all the politicians will start pointing fingers at one another but none of them will ever look in a mirror to see their own image of evil. The truth is that the grazing (the current term of art) of a presidential candidate is only just deserts; it is not the disease itself but the symptom and manifestation of the disease, of a sick and superficial society, greedy, corrupt, hooked on the images from their phones, hooked on meretricious values, and neck deep in unalloyed evil. For our so-called leader we now have a race between two senile nonentities, one a mental patient, the other a buffoon, and they seek to steer the ship of state that has long since lost its way and is about to sink to the bottom of the ocean where it shall never again be found. No one should mourn it, and anything, any chaos, any blood, any confusion which hastens its demise should be applauded without reserve…

For the rest of Doug’s latest pearl of wisdom, see here: “Shots Ring Out” at whiteBiocentrism.com

Hamburger Today July 13, 2024 What we don’t need is an overtly ‘supernatural’ element to our political discourse and in the end every ‘Christian’ ends up resorting to supernatural ‘reasoning’ when pressed… Christianity never existed to protect the interests of the White race… [I]t would be foolish to put such a person [a Bible-believing Christian] in front of a-religous Whites as an exemplar of the movement.

Thank you, Wimpy for your reasoned comment.

Greg, an excellent review of a bad book that exposed the half-baked alt-right “movement” for what it was. This Reeve strumpet would never have been allowed to interview any National Alliance member. Your advice to never talk to MSM “journalists” is the correct position.

I would ask anyone familiar with groups under the alt-right umbrella, “What is their position on Christianity?” The answer almost invariably would be, “They don’t take a position.” The reason: they didn’t want to offend Christians. Therefore, the alt-right was destined to the scrapheap. That, to me, showed their moral cowardice, since, bottom line: Christians worship our racial enemy’s imaginary tribal deity.

The only fool I ever met from that collection of named alt-right leaders was the disgusting Heimbach, the “traditionalist Catholic,” or whatever. He attempted to debate his otherworldly, Jew-spawned belief system with me and William Pierce’s reality-grounded Cosmotheism in front of a handful of his followers. The “debate” ended when he actually said with a straight face that Jesus would be coming down through the clouds on a white horse. His worthless followers apparently bought his bullshit.

I didn’t have to look any further into the alt-right beyond what conservative Ann Coulter had observed: that “they enjoyed being called Nazis.” Did any of their leaders actually understand National Socialism? I would advise those newly leaderless young alt-righters to look into the numerous books on the subject of NS from a White racial point of view, by expert Dr. Thomas Dalton, here: Thomas Dalton – cosmotheistchurch.org

Dalton’s latest article about the folly of belief in Jewish Christianity by Aryans, here:  “Old Tablets and New: Two Decalogues for the White Race” at nationalvanguard.org

I feel bad for Matt Parrot. He’s had such bad luck over the years and is wrongly smeared as a weakling by some in the movement. He’s actually a very amiable fellow if you ever get the chance to speak to him.

He also has a dry, folksy charm that I’m a big fan of.

I hope he comes back to Twitter soon.

    Sigh,

Thanks for a great review GJ.

These stories, these failures are recurring through American White nationalism “movement’ going as far back as the 1970s.

    Some simple things to remember:

    1) Just as you shouldn’t assume the police, FBI and other law enforcement who look White, might be White are on your/our side, do the same with any and all reporters, writers.
One of our guys who’s always handled the press, media very well was/is David Duke. David Duke doesn’t do taped, edited interviews. He only does live video interviews. If it’s taped and edited, the media rep is going to present their narrative, not ours even if ours is the truth.

Learn this phrase with cops, FBI and the media, even supposedly Conservative media:

    “I have nothing to say”.

That said, there are ways to use the mainstream media in responsible ways – like writing a press release that the media can use or not use. Make your statement short, to the point, maybe entertaining or funny. Lots of the press are like fight/boxing promoters – they like to cover an entertaining show (Rockwell put on great shows).

    2) I highly recommend not trying to make American White nationalism your whole life, as in your full time $ job, the place with all your friends. It is reality that American White nationalism, Alternative Right politics or just well, politics is overwhelming male. The few women we get in our circles often cause trouble – Ann Coulter was a real bitch to me in person. That’s life.

Most good White women like to do other things besides politics, especially White nationalist politics. So take up a good hobby where there are lots of healthy White women. I highly recommend Whiter forms of partner dancing, not solo, line dancing, twerking. Try C&W Texas 2 step, some easy forms of Swing dancing (my favorite was CEROC, Le Jive). Most good looking young women LOVE to dance and most American men, even now Black American men are terrible partner dancers, it’s very easy to stand out from this crowd.

    3) Since the terrible two party American political system, makes new immigration restrictionist, populist parties like the Swedish Democrats or the Swiss People’s Party, Polish Law and Justice Party almost impossible to get anywhere, it’s IMO a mistake to start a new national party like the “Freedom Party”.

Instead go state and local – like David Duke successfully did in the late 1980s, early 90s. Finesse race a bit, focus on real local concerns, crime, bad public education, corrupt BLM mayors – make some White flight working class suburb like Metairie LA (Duke’s base) be your base.

    4) Train for, get and keep a real job. Don’t discuss racial politics or any politics at work.

Have some fun out there and don’t do White trashy things like try to have sex with your best friend’s wife.

I recall a live interview where Wolf Blitzer  got into a somewhat heated discussion with David Duke.  Duke was in Iran chumming with Ahmadinejad so this was a long time ago.

When DD would make a particularly relevant and interesting point, why, Wolfie would solve the problem by talking over DD, and then when things got particularly hot, “…the satellite’s about to go down; got to leave it right there!”  LOL.

This has an excellent personal fury which I could never have attained in my review. I found the book easy, breezy, and rather weird (long Fred Brennan section at the beginning: she had to pad the thing out!) and sadly nostalgic. The “Alt Right” and Richard Spencer were her meal ticket. She shall not see their like again. You have to ask, why is this being published now rather than five years ago? It’s because Elle’s career is dead in the water.

I hate to play Devil’s advocate but isn’t that more or less this lady’s job as a leftist journalist?  That is, writing screeds such as this.  I think this lady was pretty straightforward about who she was with the people she interviewed.  Greg aptly pointed out, “White Nationalists should not talk to reporters.”  I get it, this lady was punching down, hitting below the belt, etc.,… chose your metaphor.  But I think that a critique such as this comes off as a sort of deadpan.  What were you expecting?  It’d be like a guy complaining his boxers getting dirty after soliciting a prostitute.  Alas, Greg himself said he felt dirty reading after reading this book.  Don’t take the deadpan thing as a dig, I love deadpan humor.

I enjoyed the commentary on some of the alt-right drama.  I think this subject would make for a great book.  While I think Gregory Hood succinctly put it in a recent column that, “The Alt-Right did not die — it was murdered,” by being cut off from the media and financial services, I think the internal fighting within the alt-right also contributed to its demise.  Two words:  Richard Spencer.  Betraying his benefactor, Bill Regnery, is pretty on the nose and his about face of caring more about civilization than race is beyond cynical.  It has been interesting to see the rise and fall of some of these characters like Spencer and Fuentes.

Agreeing with previous posts – this is ancient history, but it does stir up some thoughts. The hypocrisy of the left is what annoys me the most about it. This woman will drag a hapless disabled gnome of a man through the mud for wrongthink while at the same time championing body positivity and decrying “ableism”. They will call conservative blacks “niggers” and conservative homosexuals “faggots” with a snicker and a sneer. They will dox people and openly shame their online porn habits when it suits them – meanwhile the average internet Marxist will be jerking off five times a day to the worst and most ridiculous degenerate shit you can imagine, pardon my French. They hold our people to inhuman moral standards while having none for themselves, they’ll let their own kind get away with way worse than anything the average WN edgelord gets up to. I really don’t care what WNs do off-camera, if they marry their mother-in-law, if they’re narcissists, if they have weird disabilities, if they get freaky in the incognito tabs, just like all the woketards do. There’s a terribly embarrassing side to everyone, if you dig deep enough. The real issue is not to let these leeches lord human flaws over any of us, and not jump to distance ourselves from anyone they attack. Barring truly horrible or criminal implications, the appropriate response to hypocritical Marxian moral accusations against those in our midst should be: “So what? Let me go through YOUR phone, let me see what I’ll find.”

And, still controversial on CC: I might not like Richard Spencer very much, but I like him more than Hunter Biden, or Hillary, or Elle Reeves, or any of these people championing the cultural and racial death of the West. For all his inanities, Spencer took a lot of heat that he didn’t have to, because he (tentatively) believed in something. I’ll always have a little bit of respect for anyone who does that.

This also comes down to :

once a White man becomes “ Red Pilled “ what does he do ?

IMO trying to be a national or international White advocate spokesman Isn t practical

it s impossible . Those that try this route always fail . So many reason this fails .

nsyead go state and local like David Duke successfully did in the 1980s and 90s.

in my opinion Pat Buchanan could have run and won New Hampshire Governor ~ 1994 and built a state organization like George Wallace had in Alabama in the late 60s and early 70s .

instead Pat Buchanan and George Wallace let his supporters and especially his family talk him in to repeated Presidential campaign crusades , and when those did t win everything , their personality cults withered and died sane as Spencer’s

IMO let s go state and local . Takeover or build a new town like Orania SA

we can t save all of the USA , North America , “ The West “
