One of the more difficult things for me as an undercover dissident is managing my anger. I don’t think I need to explain this in the post-2020 election, post-Floyd era we are now in. Usually, when I see enemy propaganda — or even our own, which deconstructs enemy propaganda — I just cannot bear it. (more…)

In a recent essay about playwright Tennessee Williams and Greek-American director Elia Kazan’s flagrantly anti-Southern motion picture Baby Doll (1956), I observed in passing that blacks are present as furniture, but there is no major subplot involving them. (more…)

I came across David Cronenberg’s Videodrome relatively late in my arc of movie-viewing enthusiasm. It went well past the high school-aged fascination with low-brow horror (the original Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street) or college-years serial killer obsession (American Psycho or any movie derived from Ed Gein mayhem). Like the rest of the West, Canada has been lurching from one supposed crisis of white racism to another, but this country’s specialty remains aboriginal victimology. The most recent hysteria flared up in June with “discoveries” of “mass graves” outside former church-run residential schools for natives. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov apparently shows more concern for ordinary white Americans than the average Republican lawmaker. In April, Lavrov called out America’s aggressive anti-white racism. While insisting Russians were “the pioneers of the movement for equal rights of people of any skin color,” he stated Black Lives Matter pushes “aggression displayed against white people, white US citizens.” (more…)

“Psychosis”: a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.
You wake up these mornings and ask yourself: how much worse is it going to get today? You skim a news story or an editorial coming out of the New York Times, Washington Post, or the Detroit Free Press. Or, perhaps you turn on CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News. Something is terribly wrong. You ask yourself: Where am I? In Moscow? Is it 1936? Why do I feel terror all around me? (more…)
