In the summer of 2009, a website called “People of Walmart” debuted and, like a fever blister sprouting under the hot August sun, it enjoyed a few moments of Internet virality. Its stock in trade was to feature reader-submitted photos of lumpy, fat, trashy, tacky, stupid, déclassé, weird — and almost entirely white — Americans trudging through those giant hollow warehouses of depressing consumerism that are target-marketed toward consumers of meager means. Ali “Scammy Davis, Jr.” Alexander: Time-Traveling Father of Dragons
As a primary architect of the entirely unsuccessful “Stop the Steal” movement and now an alleged strategist for Kanye West’s 2024 presidential ambitions, Ali Alexander squirms and wiggles like a greasy brown salamander to place himself at the top of whatever high-profile Right-wing political disaster he can helm. The Great Detective: The Amazing Rise and Immortal Life of Sherlock Holmes
New York: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015The real inference is that Sherlock Holmes really existed and that Conan Doyle never existed. If posterity only reads these latter [fan-produced] books, it will certainly suppose them to be serious. It will imagine that Sherlock Holmes was a man. But he was not; he was only a god. (more…)
