Don’t Join Trump’s Greenland Adventure

Donald Trump has expressed the desire to purchase Greenland or conquer it by force, deeming it “absolutely necessary” for America’s security. He also claimed he wanted to make Canada the 51st state and retake the Panama Canal. For the purposes of this article, I’ll ignore the Panama and Canada issue and focus on the Greenland adventure. To sum it up, American white advocates should not support this effort.

Trump’s statements might be a throwaway line; only said in the context of his concept of “leverage.” Under this concept, Trump might be insincerely claiming he wants “all of Greenland” while really only wanting mineral rights in a particular area or another military base. He could also be flexing on Denmark so that he can prove he is strong against Russia’s neo–Tsar, Putin. It is said that the Soviets realized Ronald Reagan meant business when he fired the air traffic controllers in 1981, so this Greenland talk could be some kind of 3-dimensional chess play that leads to peace in Ukraine. It is also possible that he is saying one of his many outrageous statements with the expectation nothing will happen. Trump tweeted out “law and order” during the BLM/Antifa riots and no “law and order” followed. Nonetheless, reckless comments by a ruling official can have big repercussions.

American society at present is at a disadvantage in that moral instruction primarily comes from things like the Star Wars and Harry Potter Universes. We really lost something when the Bible stopped being taught on a wide scale. The Book of Esther is applicable here. It starts out with the Persian Emperor drunkenly demanding his wife appear before him and his pals wearing her crown so that all might see her beauty. The story implies that she was to only wear her crown. She refused. After sobering up, the emperor’s advisors say,

…the queen’s behavior will be made known to all women, causing them to look at their husbands with contempt, since they will say, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him, and she did not come.’ This very day the noble women of Persia and Media who have heard of the queen’s behavior will say the same to all the king’s officials, and there will be contempt and wrath in plenty. (Esther 1:17-18 ESV)

In other words, if the word gets out that the emperor’s wife can defy her husband, all wives can defy their husbands. King Ahasuerus’s drunken talk was a big deal. Now, Trump has told the Crown of Denmark that he wants Greenland. Should Denmark refuse, and so far, they have, the all the world knows that a small European country can defy the United States and there might be contempt and wrath in plenty.

Spain in 1898 & Denmark in 2025

Denmark in 2025 is like Spain in 1898. Both kingdoms have/had North American islands and owned those islands for centuries. Both kingdoms eventually ran into trouble in that their North American possessions were close enough to be coveted by an American administration. In 1898, the big prize was Spain’s colony of Cuba – the wealthiest of the West Indian Islands.

The American military captured Cuba in a lightning-fast campaign. The American military also captured nearly all the rest of Spain’s overseas empire. The American success was greatly aided by Spanish domestic disorder throughout the nineteenth century as well as Spain’s siesta culture. When Admiral Dewey steamed his warships into Manila Bay and sank the Spanish Navy, he was able to pass by the Spanish coastal artillery defenses at Corregidor because the Spanish hadn’t bothered to mount their very modern cannons.

There were also pre-existing independence movements throughout the Spanish Empire, especially in Cuba and the Philippines. There was not a violent independence movement in Puerto Rico in 1898, but many there were keen on joining the American system. Spain was also diplomatically isolated enough that no other European power could come to her defense.

Denmark doesn’t have a siesta culture, have not had much domestic disorder, and they’ve had enough time to think about defending Greenland. There is also no real independence movement in Greenland. Additionally, the Danish Crown has a history of defiance against long odds. Denmark is also not diplomatically isolated. The Kingdom shares membership in NATO and the European Union. American military action against Denmark is a tarpit and spider’s web rolled into one.

The Spanish – American War & its Bloody Aftermath

The Spanish – American War was a splendid conflict in 1898. However, the aftershocks of the war were not so pleasant. There was a two-year insurrection in the Philippines. In the southern part of the Philippines, where a large population of Muslims live, has experienced Jihadist insurgency continually, and Americans have been forced to deal with it for more than a century. The isolationist Gerald Nye correctly pointed out that the United States couldn’t defend the conquered Spanish colonies of Guam, Wake Island, and the Philippines from a dedicated Japanese attack in the late 1930s. The bloody island hopping of the Pacific War was a direct result of the Spanish American War waged 43 years before Pearl Harbor.

Because of the war, the United States also acquired populations which were vastly different from the Anglo–American core group. Puerto Ricans aren’t the most offensive people on the planet, but they are different from Anglos, and the integration of Puerto Rico into the American system has not been frictionless. President Truman was nearly killed by Puerto Rican nationalists in 1950, and Puerto Rican nationalists shot up Congress in 1954. There was some low-grade, but nasty, Puerto Rican terrorism in the 1970s. All of this, plus Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez preaching socialism in the House, is the result of the naked imperialist expansionist plans of war lovers in the McKinley administration.

The Spanish-American War was fought, officially, to free Cuba from the despotic Spanish. Many Cubans however, thought differently, despite the independence movement in the 1890s, and that turned out to really matter. Fidel Castro’s father was a Spanish soldier who’d defended Cuba in 1898, he was bitterly opposed to American operations in Cuba. The steadfast Cuban resistance during the Bay of Pigs landing and later the Cuban Missile Crisis were payback for the American invasion.

Should America acquire Greenland, the problems which appeared after the Spanish War will bedevil us, admitted in somewhat different and unpredictable ways. It is absolutely certain that acquiring a territory entirely consisting of Indians with no farmland for whites to settle on potentially puts two Greenlanders in the Senate where they can agitate against American whites in the same way that Hawaii’s Senators carry on.

The Pitfalls Around Greenland and the Frontier Safety Valve

The men who enlisted in the American armed forces at the outbreak of the Spanish War were middle class (and up) white men as well as the sons of the super wealthy. The senior officers were experienced men who’d served in the Civil War and fought the Indian Wars afterwards while getting a well-rounded by life experiences. The Army that deployed against Spain was a full-fledged army for empire with top-level soldiers.

Today’s military is addled by leftist ideology, “civil rights,” affirmative action, and racial issues and things have not gone well. If this Greenland adventure goes forward, it is entirely possible that the USS Harvey Milk has a Danish anti-ship missile in its future. The Greenland adventure’s potential gains are so marginal that any casualties will be unacceptable.

Indeed, Greenland’s potential benefits are less than marginal. The area is already secured with military installations and the situation as-is means that two nations – Canada and Denmark – are united with America in securing America’s Arctic front from Russia or China. American aggression in Greenland will alienate both countries making securing the area more difficult. Any minerals or other resources in Greenland can be profitably acquired by private companies as the situation exists. Should this adventure continue forward it will be an enormous distraction from dealing with the mercantilist empire of China and the aggressive Eurasianists in Russia.

Admittedly, there are more Americans defending Greenland than Danes, but that situation is sure to change. America did occupy Greenland during World War II, and President Truman did secretly offer to buy Greenland in 1946, but the sale did not go through, and Turman chose to not continue the occupation. If Greenland was not worth it then, its not worth it now.

Gerald L.K. Smith did suggest buying Greenland also, however that was then, and this is now. White American’s problems are not solved by an Arctic expansion. To put it cynically, the expanding frontier has allowed the American Establishment to remove whites who are frustrated by the Establishment’s tilt towards non-white support. The Virginians who disliked slavery were able to move to Illinois and Iowa. During the Reagan years, administration policy was to redirect the energies of men who were hoping to overturn “civil rights” towards fighting communists in Central America.

There is a theory that the Q Anon thing was a post-Charlottesville psyop seeking to reorient whites from white advocacy towards whatever Q Anon was supposed to be. If that is the case, white advocacy, which was making gains throughout 2017, was derailed by a semi-religious internet prophet/charlatan. It is certainly suspicious that this Greenland thing occurred just after Trump suffered a political upset from MAGA due to his support for H1b visas. White advocates need to stay at home and continue their work.
