When I first chanced across Counter-Currents almost a decade ago, two things kept me coming back. Firstly, it was the first site I had seen which featured philosophy from a Right-wing perspective. Philosophy is my academic environment, and my BA, MA, and PhD are all in the subject, but online philosophy magazines are offshoots of mainstream academia, and therefore lean strongly to the Left.

The guitar solo on Love Removal Machine sounds like Ron Wood channeling the spirit of Angus Young on a Gibson Firebird set to ten. Good song.
Yesterday, I heard the latest Rolling Stones song on an AM station, titled In the Stars. It’s pretty good. Catchy, Mick goes into his different vocal styles, like growling and sweet singing in the sort of nasal background vocals. Of course it has that glorious tangle of Rolling Stones guitars in the mix. And to think the Stones are about the same age as Biden.
Not a hard rocker, but I like Tom Waits‘s title track to Swordfishtrombones as a low-key mellow head bobber.
That entire debut album by the Damned is a great one. Great dirty rock n roll. On their later albums, though, they got too much into that big 80/ 90s production sound, especially with those gated-reverb snares.
Any fans here of Radio Birdman?
A good friend of mine is a Stonesologist, and he rates the new material, so I must catch up. I love Swordfishtrombones and the follow-up, Rain Dogs. I am sure you know the track with Richards on it, Union Square. A great head-bobber. I have heard of but never heard Radio Birdman, and will investigate.
20th Century Boy is one of my five year old daughters’ favorite songs.
I have a New York Dolls DVD with a bonus interview of Johnny Thunders outside of some club. He is asked about his new band, The Heartbreakers and he says “Yeah, we just found out about this new band called Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, so we might change our name to The Headbreakers and go pay them a fuckin’ visit.”
Cold Sweat by the Lizzy is not only a “headbanger”, but also an “air-guitarer”, I’d say.
I vaguely recall Thee Hypnotics from music papers from ages ago; never heard them though. My interest has been piqued, I thought they may have been one of those nihilistic Spacemen 3, Stooges sort of monotone anti-rock bands.
Killing Joke’s European Superstate is the soundtrack for the White reconquista. A reliable banger for me is what I consider the greatest heavy metal album of all time: Diamond Head, Lightning to the Nations.
