Victoria Day long weekend, weather permitting, is traditionally for gardening, barbeques, various outdoor activities, going to the beach, relaxing, and maybe even hunting wild turkeys. It unofficially marks the beginning of summer. Oftentimes Canadians will let off fireworks; the authorities turn a blind eye, especially if those fireworks are launched skywards.
In 1845, the Legislature of the Province of Canada declared Queen Victoria’s birthday, May 24, to be a holiday. During Queen Elizabeth II’s lengthy reign (1952-2022), it became Canadian custom to mark the birthday of the Sovereign on Victoria Day; the holiday falls on the Monday that precedes May 25. Even though Queen Elizabeth’s natural birthday was April 21, her birthday was celebrated on Victoria Day from 1953 onwards. A proclamation issued in May of 2023 “fixed Victoria Day as the date on which the Sovereign’s birthday would be celebrated in Canada.” The proclamation was a formalization of what had essentially become a Canadian cultural practice.
Even though that proclamation was issued in 2023, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, his cabinet, and even the Governor General made a point of remaining silent about Victoria Day and His Majesty King Charles III this year. As an editorial in one of the few slightly right-of-center daily papers pointed out, the social media accounts of the aforementioned Liberal officials tend to mark anything but Canadian traditional events. Even the opposition conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre, could’ve done better; he only mentioned the holiday in passing in relation to gas prices. (Something that should warrant the Trumpian admonishment “Sad!”) While we continue to lose the public acknowledgement of our British heritage, we are enjoying the fruit of diverse cultural displacement and dispossession.
Because of cultural enrichment, fireworks are sometimes used as weapons: They are launched at crosstown rivals and even innocent bystanders, which is unfortunate to say the least. Over the holiday weekend, some gentlemen in Toronto were arrested for doing just that. After a few salvos from their Roman candles being wielded as ad-hoc weapons, that same group of idiots decided to get into another altercation nearby where two of them were stabbed. I don’t think that’s what Queen Victoria had in mind for her eponymous holiday. According to the official press release from the Toronto Police, one man was arrested and charged with assault while three others remain on the loose.
Another incident in Toronto involving celebratory pyrotechnics took place in the Christie Pits area of the city. Video footage shows blacks firing Roman candles and other flare-type projectiles at one another in the middle of the street. It’s because of these usual suspects that white people can’t enjoy their nice holidays.
Another shockingly bizarre incident saw a black man, very obviously out of his mind on some sort of substance, attack multiple vehicles and a firetruck. It was caught on video. The footage shows an out-of-control male of African heritage attack almost everything in sight before hopping onto the running board of a passing firetruck and pummeling the driver. A Good Samaritan intervened before some of the firemen dismounted from their truck to confront the crazed lunatic.

In the province of Quebec, Journée nationale des Patriotes (National Patriots’ Day) coincides with Victoria Day, and also means a long weekend. Montreal saw the death of five people over a four-day period. This is uncharacteristic of Quebecers, generally speaking, unless they’re wearing skates and wielding hockey sticks. In one incident on May 25, a brawl involving more than a dozen people resulted in three people being killed. The article about it by the CBC reveals that it occurred in a neighborhood replete with immigrants from Haiti and other machete-wielding locales.
It turns out that launching fireworks at people was widespread over the holiday. In Kitchener, a city located roughly 100 kilometers west of Toronto, long weekend celebrations in the city’s Victoria Park descended into chaos as a horde of “youths” acted as firework-wielding hooligans. It must have been quite the incident given that it prompted an official statement from Kitchener’s Mayor, Berry Vrbanovic:
At the City of Kitchener, we have a commitment to build a city for everyone where, together, we take care of the world around us and each other. As Mayor, I believe that I need to speak up when the safety and well-being of our residents has been jeopardized.
I am deeply concerned by the level of reckless hooliganism experienced from a significant group of young people in Victoria Park and on surrounding streets yesterday evening. The unsanctioned gathering quickly escalated into a situation marked by unsafe and violent behaviour, including the inappropriate use of fireworks.
These actions were unacceptable and posed significant risks to public safety. The unauthorized use of fireworks not only endangered those present, but also caused undue stress and harm to our community.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our City of Kitchener Bylaw and Security teams, as well as emergency services, including the Waterloo Region Police Service, City of Kitchener Fire and Region of Waterloo EMS who acted swiftly and courageously to manage the situation and prevent further harm. Their professionalism and dedication are commendable, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their continued service.
As a result of this event, I have asked our staff to debrief both internally, and with our community emergency service partners on the events of yesterday evening, and to investigate what steps can be taken to prevent such incidents from occurring again. This could include working closely with community leaders and organizations, including our local school boards and other youth-based organizations to educate our youth on the dangers of such dangerous behaviours.
Our city is a place where we should all feel safe and welcome. Let us use this incident as a reminder of the importance of mutual respect, responsibility, and adherence to the laws and guidelines that keep us all safe.
Meanwhile, Toronto’s Mayor, Olivia Chow, had nothing to say about the incidents in her city or Victoria Day in general. She is more interested in commemorating the latest Transgender Day of Abominations or welcoming the latest boatload of immigrants.
It is extraordinary that, despite these criminal happenings, the Trudeau regime wants to extend citizenship to people who are in the country illegally, including undocumented migrants and failed asylum-seekers. This announcement came on the heels of proposed legislation that would extend citizenship rights to the grandchildren of immigrants born outside of Canada. The country is in precipitous decline as it is, and this will be the death knell of our once beautiful home.
It will not be lost on Counter-Currents readers across the world that our hostile elites are using mass migration to replace their own citizens. It is the same program everywhere with only subtle regional variations.

One element in the deconstruction of Canada is the need to find some grounds on which to feel superior to the United States, to overcome being an outskirts nation next to the great gorilla. The only real path for that is to be more virtuous than the greedy, violent, racist Americans. And increasing liberalism, without brakes, is the norm.
Of course there is opposition to this, but the ruling elites, like all ruling elites, hunger and thirst after status and the only way in which they could appear superior is by moral preening.
And if the cost of that is the destruction of a once wonderful European nation (where I lived for 17 years), well, so be it.
These people make the French aristocracy in 1788 look like patriots.

..the choices for Canada will be:-
1.) fight against a Moslem caliphate, in which no white man/woman/child is safe! Not a realistic scenario!
2.)accept Islam, which will mean the collapse of the West.
3.) Flee, but to where ?
4.) ..join the United States in a, “North American Union”.
..Canada is not just in a precipitous decline, but in collapse!
