Jim Goad has produced a short film to accompany his latest essay, “What’s With the Egos on These Negroes?“, on the recent fracas between former superstar NFL quarterback Cam Newton and a small throng of young amateur footballers, and what this shows about the black community. See below.

Anyone pick up on the soundtrack? (smiley face)

Ernie Kovacs and his ensemble, The Nairobi Trio with “Solfeggio” – quite a catchy tune; a mixture of hubristic bombast and helpless infantile naivety apposite for the subject matter of this video essay. I’ve never heard of Ernie Kovacs before. Reading about him, he was quite a celebrity back in the day in the US – kind of like a less acidic American version of my own country’s Peter Sellers.
Ernie Kovacs was the first great TV surrealist. I’d say he’s still unmatched. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWdEr1XaLrw

I thought the music in the video was perfect, and I’m glad you posted this. Had no idea where it came from.
Very Goadesque to reference The Nairobi Trio’s ouvre.
