Should We Send Our Daughters to College?

Spencer J. Quinn

1,250 words

During my recent interview with Greg Johnson about my novel Critical Daze, the sequel to The No College Club, he asked me if I was, in effect, telling young white kids that they should not attend college. After all, in the story the four main characters form an organization which assists young whites who run afoul of cultural Marxism, often by providing them with an alternative to university training.

My response was no, there are many cases in which attending college is appropriate and necessary—especially for majors in STEM fields. However, it does make sense that young whites have a healthy racial identity before they go to college, so they can be more aware of the hostility they will face from their teachers, administrators, fellow students, and curricula. As my main character Caroline Adams says at the end of The No College Club:

But what I like to do most is to speak with young people, high school students. I tell them that it is not too late for white people to make a difference for themselves. I try to let them know that there are options other than college. Colleges are where anti-white hatred festers and grows. Young whites should not feel that they have to go to college. They should not feel forced to go into debt for an overpriced degree. Instead we need to develop our own institutions and businesses, we need to study and develop our own skills, and we need to work hard.

The No College Club, in effect, offers training for a displaced white aristocracy, focusing on identity and character as much as intellect. As the Club grows, a broader curricula will be offered, but at the end of Critical Days Caroline, Derek, Rose, and Brock are teaching recruits law, Ancient Greek, agriculture, and emergency medicine. This is, of course, all fiction, but it is modeled in part on the School of the West as well as on Counter-Currents itself.

However, not every white person wants to be or should be part of an aristocracy. In these cases, I would advise our youth to attend universities only if they study STEM fields, languages, or law—or anything else that produces highly marketable and useful skills. They should keep their noses in books and their eyes on the prize of a worthwhile career, while leaving the activism to those who have the maturity and moral constitution to handle it. I would advise parents to refuse to pay tuition if their children choose to do otherwise. Majoring in English, theater, sociology, to say nothing of frivolous disciplines such as feminism, communications, and cultural studies is simply not serious, and with white kids being in the outright minority of all kids in the United States these days, they cannot afford not to be serious. If one wants to study any of these softer disciplines, that’s fine. Make it a minor. Majoring in difficult fields will also force our kids to work harder, which in no universe is a bad thing.

And for anyone still slipping through the cracks, there’s always community college, trade schools, starting a business, or doing honest work. No shame in any of that.

About 20 minutes into the interview, the topic of whether white girls should go to college came up when I reminded Greg of his opposition to this very thing. I asked if he had been speaking tongue in cheek, and here is how he responded:

I don’t think you should send your daughters to college, unless they are going to end up being classics professors or novelists, people like that—unless they are really exceptionally talented. Just because women in college are just so propagandized towards self-destructive lifestyles. In the past, when you’d send your daughter to college and she’d join a sorority and end up marrying some nice guy who becomes a doctor, I can see why you would do that. It would actually be a kind of eugenic thing to do. But the atmosphere in college campuses is so toxic today, and especially to young women who are so susceptible to this, that honestly I would fear sending a daughter to college. And I would try and figure out other things to do with her college fund. Like, tell her this will be your dowry.

Greg went on further to say:

There are all these memes of girls who in high school, they look normal and attractive, and they go to college and they turn into freaks. I mean literally self-mutilating freaks. And some of them actually go all the way to the trans thing. And these social contagions are passed around on college campuses. You can get them elsewhere, but they are very much passed around and reinforced through personal face-to-face interactions on college campuses. You’ve got to protect your daughters from that.

I agree, although there is more to the story. In my opinion, the greatest danger in sending a boy to college would be that he would give in to temptation through alcohol, drug abuse, and profligate behavior. Most of us, I am sure, have stories of the big men on campus and their hedonistic exploits. At best this is a waste of time and money, and worst it’s a waste of life. If parents have sons who abuse alcohol or drugs or party too much in high school, simply don’t send him to university, which to him would be rather like Pleasure Island from the animated Pinocchio movie. Rather, sock the tuition money away and offer it to him when he has proven he’s ready to be serious with his life. Such strictness among parents will also serve to motivate boys not to party so much in high school and beyond.

As for girls, yes, they are propagandized at university into pursuing self-destructive lifestyles. And yes, this is a crisis, more so than it is for wayward, party-hardy boys. Aside from strongly encouraging them not to attend college, I think parents should instil racial awareness in their daughters even more so than with boys (who are more likely to figure that out on their own anyway). That, and offer them a rock-solid support system contingent upon proper, lady-like behavior if they do end up going to college—and this includes keeping her love interests entirely within the race.

There is, however, a third way. Why not encourage young women to eschew college in their twenties while they find husbands and settle down with children, and then enter college once they are in their mid-thirties and their children are more self-sufficient? By then such women likely would have built up enough resistance to the social contagions mentioned above. They’ll likely have a better idea of what they would want out of a university education. They’ll also have a stronger sense of their limitations. All of this comes with maturity. But it also evinces an understanding of priorities—that it is more important young women marry and have children before they are 30 than it is for them to get DEI engineering degrees. They should do the former first, and if they still want the latter, they can pursue it later. Waiting a decade and a half while building a family, is not exactly a hardship, in my opinion. Quite the opposite, actually.

Yes, we should protect our daughters from the social contagions currently floating around college. But we as parents should also set an example for them by showing them how fulfilling family life can be.

The choice of college would be my biggest concern as the father of a college bound daughter. Anything within an urban setting is out of the question. Just too dangerous. Absurdly liberal schools like Oberlin or Wooster are on the no list. Something in a somewhat rural environment with the program that she’s interested in is the only college choice I would help finance.

Give her a choice: money for college or money as a dowry for early marriage.

Also, I despair at the ungodly amounts of money that fathers spend on weddings. Is there any evidence that lavish weddings lead to stronger marriages and more children? If not, then fathers need to say no to expensive weddings and instead part with that money only when children are born.

There is absolutely no reason for a dying race to engage in such grotesque self-indulgences as college educations for future spinsters and lavish weddings that are more likely to result in divorces than children.

I would like to segue from the subject of a “dowry” into the subject of life insurance, parents should stipulate in their wills and life insurance policies that children will not be beneficiaries unless they have at least three white children! 🧑‍🦳👨‍🦳=👶👶👶

“While spending time in Europe, I was invited to dinner at one of my cousin’s homes one day, this one was on the farm. While enjoying all the excellent natural food and wine, we started catching up and discussing a little bit of everything. At one time he asked me, what do you do in America to help out with the kid’s future? I replied by telling him that we normally send them to college if we can afford it or by any possible means. He asked me if we are required to pay for it and if so how much does an education cost. I told him that considering the minimal time required just to land any professional position, it would take at least four years, and that in today’s competitive arena, a six year degree more so. Again he asked so what does it cost? I said on average probably a hundred thousand dollars. In response he asked, what then? I continued to explain that if they succeeded in graduating they could then land a job usually at a salary of forty thousand dollars a year to start, depending on the job, and then later start saving after they have paid off their loans and hopefully work up a down payment on a home followed by a bigger loan or home mortgage.

And then?,  Well then with luck after 20 or 30 years of payments which usually sums up to three times the original amounted cost of the home they can finally own it, and even keep it provided they maintain the annual property tax mandate. He then asked, well they would be about sixty years old? I said, yes if they’re lucky. He then laughed and said, here I take the hundred thousand dollars you give to banks and universities and instead hire independent contractors (skilled workers) who I direct to build a sizable modern home for my 20 year old, who then owns it immediately without debt. Now they can start a family early without worry and if they sincerely elect to pursue and education later they can do it on their own means, but not for the purpose of hopefully securing a home after years of trying, and maybe someday a family.

And of course it is with this same conditioning and “ease of available credit” that we now follow the system that has been set up for generations, for us to use in establishing what we believe to be the proper steps through life, or path into increased debt, etc…”      – Reflection, Guzziferno

You can easily do research on the internet to find which universities and colleges are in bad neighborhoods. Two that come to mind are Timple University in Philadelphia and Tulane University in New Orleans. both of those universities are in rough areas. I’ve talked to students who have attended both institutions and they told me that they get to campus very quickly, take classes and if they don’t live on campus, they get away from campus quickly. Students that stay on campus have to call the police to break up disturbances that are on campus or right next to it, The ROTC Cadets enrolled in Philadelphia only do PT exercises on campus and not the surrounding neighborhoods because it’s too dangerous. It’s like that at other universities.

I’ve heard that Temple and Tulane are inner city messes. Georgia Tech and just about anything in Chicago are awful as well.

I’m from Ohio so Toledo, Akron and Youngstown St. are absolutely out of the question. OSU would be fine. The campus is still relatively safe.

No, but what else are they supposed to do?

Entry into the labor force in the West has become extremely contrived process so that middle-men can profit and capitalize on the process.

Speaking of social contagions on campus isn’t very useful. Western society in general has become a social contagion. And there’s no escape from it anymore, there’s an electric jew in every pocket.

And the trad homemaker lifestyle isn’t an option for 95% of them, even if they wanted it.

Women are indeed being destroyed but so is everyone else, be it by college or some other factor.

Unfortunately there is a shortage of decent men just like there’s a shortage of decent women. And if we are talking about decent men who can support a household on 1 income the pool gets even smaller. They exist and that pairing does still happen, but it’s become rare. If you’re a young lady can you count on getting it? Can you count on getting it so assuredly that you can forego college? Do you just work at McDonald’s while you wait to meet Prince Charming?

Keep in mind a lot of women go to college for the very purpose of meeting a decent man. When I was in college I had several women explain to me how their dumb degrees didn’t really matter because they were really just there to get their “Mrs.” degree.

So, if the shortages are about the same, that means that there are enough decent men for the decent women out there.

If fathers have enough money to send their daughters to college, they should spend some of that exploring other ways of finding mates.

A young woman should work at finding Mr. Right rather than work at McDonald’s. If she needs money, she should live at home. (At best, working should be a part-time job, and finding a husband should be the full-time job.) A young woman should probably also find a church with young couples and children in it, even if she’s not religious. It’s a good place to find serious young men.

Fathers must support their daughters in this. I personally plan to give whichever of my daughters marries first a house – my own house, if necessary. And after I finish my current move, I will look for a good church for us, even though I’m an atheist. The statistical correlation between healthy faith, marriage, and higher fertility is just too strong to pass up.

I don’t know if that’s really true. Don’t get me wrong; housing is increasingly expensive, but I’ve seen photographs of our pioneer ancestors, and I saw families living in small, one-room, dirt-floored shacks, carving out an existence. The idea that an apartment is just too small to start a family in, while our ancestors made do with much worse accommodations, indicates that we’re also a bit too pampered.

It is possible for a father to raise his daughter to understand the world as it is, to foster a desire within her to find a good White man to marry (…and whom she’s proud to be a good woman for), and to dedicate herself to a future with many White children whom she will parent lovingly and responsibly alongside that man.

I know this to be true because, after years of doing my best to raise her well, my daughter is engaged to a stable and intelligent man who also enjoys life and appreciates her, and he also knows the score.

The smallest chance that one can develop this path for our children (meaning ALL White children) is worth all of our efforts.

Pessimism is for the weak. If you can’t stay positive and put in the effort than go whine in private.

        Great advice, Greg.

I went to all-girl (& 99% White) Catholic high schools & met my husband when I was 18 & on my way to the library.  Ironically, while I had no conscious inclination whatsoever to hurry up, get married, & start a family, I was the first among all my friends to get hitched.

I did earn a bachelor’s degree to placate my dad because he thought it was important for me to do so.  My dad was motivated by money, not cultural preservation.  I happened to marry a man who was much more principled, loyal, self-sufficient/mechanical, & higher IQ.  <—  I never imagined what a gold mine high intelligence would be.  (I simply enjoyed his witty humor.  Now one of our boys is in college & studying STEM w/ a full academic scholarship.)

My husband & I raised 3 sons.  Today, it’s much easier to raise boys than girls (& maintain sanity) lol.  It would be very hard to supervise teen girls sufficiently without being DEEPLY resented at the time.  And you have to be willing to have your kids absolutely hate your guts.  (“I’m your parent, not your friend!”)  I do believe single-sex high school education is very important for White girls today.  In such places there’s no “girls vs boys” competition (feminism) on a daily basis like there is in many coed schools today.

I have one son, almost 21 and on the right track, and one daughter, 18 and daily scares the hell out of me. She is dating a nice enough young man, but his family is deeply problematic and when I mention it she definitely hates my guts. The parents have a daughter and they are currently allowing her black boyfriend to LIVE IN THEIR HOME WITH HER. The son, my daughter’s boyfriend, doesn’t like this, but can/will only say so much. When he is at our home for dinner I have made it clear my feelings are both for moral and racial reasons regarding the issue. The young man, who just turned 21, loves his parents, of course. I don’t want to get in the way of that.

So, right now I am considering sending her to college next year to hopefully meet some other young men before this gets any more serious. I don’t think this current young man has much of a future, unfortunately. And yes, I feel like shit for saying that.

“The parents have a daughter and they are currently allowing her black boyfriend to LIVE IN THEIR HOME WITH HER. ”

            How nightmarish!

Good news:  You don’t have to say anything directly.  Just allow the parents to stumble-across the fact that you just might have a budding racial consciousness (esp in regard to black criminality.)

Make small talk that points to the link between race & crime:  “I was looking at homes, & strangely I can no longer search for “safe” (low-crime) neighborhoods because the realtors believe doing so would cause me to be too discerning & apprehensive about mixed neighborhoods.  Hmm.”

Or perhaps, approach it from a health angle.  Your decision to have mixed kids, has health consequences:

When a multi-ethnic child is diagnosed with leukemia, neither parent is genetically close enough to the child to be a compatible donor for a bone marrow transplant.

            Wow!  Who knew??

I’m sorry to hear this. That poor young fellow. The best thing he can do is get out of his toxic home environment – preferably as far away as possible and build a life of his own. It wasn’t his fault. He must have some good qualities, otherwise you wouldn’t tolerate his presence in your home at all; besides, by your own acknowledgement, he doesn’t approve of the prevailing situation in his parents’ home. The relationship between your daughter and this young man worries you – that’s fully understandable; perhaps you could offer him gentle encouragement – after you move your daughter away to college. This is a truly horrible situation.  All because of his socially short-sighted parents and his selfish sister.

Young White men are under attack from all directions. Here in the UK we have fictitious TV dramas (“Adolescence”) depicting small, slightly built, socially conventional and respectable-looking 13 year old boys as the perpetrators of knife crimes – crimes statistically correlated to Black youths often much older than 13.

On a positive note, I distinctly feel something’s in the air; our people – ordinary people – people like you and me, are well and truly pissed off. The out-of-touch elites ensconced in their respective cities, are trying to stop National Rally in France; they are trying to stop the AfD  in Germany; they overturn elections in Romania and they ban parties in Greece; and they lie to us in the UK, down-playing the rubber boat invasion and grooming gangs, whilst making idiotic make-believe TV shows. The “Yookay’s” second largest city – Birmingham is officially bankrupt with waste disposal workers on strike leaving piles of rat-infested, uncollected black plastic refuse bags, meanwhile the city’s “diverse communities” obliviously saunter past (Just “google” “Birmingham Bin Strike” and see for yourself). Birmingham UK – a trashed up city, run by trash – for trash. The heaps of black plastic trash grow and grow. White boys are criminalised; White teenage girls are industrially raped – and little White girls at dancing classes are butchered.

Don’t feel bad for criticality assessing the man who is with your daughter.

I don’t know how sensible your daughter is but it’s possible she’ll learn to be discerning as well.

My own daughter was involved with a man that I considered unworthy of her, but she snapped out of it. You have to find a way to bring her to realization. What might this man amount to? Is he capable of being the man she needs and, if not, what is she in it for?

Once she has the future in mind she’ll consider what might be possible, rather than waste time with distractions.

That’s a best case scenario, of course. A big part of the problem is that young women have been infused with so many preconceived notions, distortions, and expectations that they often can’t (or won’t) make up their minds in one way or another about anything. They just flounder around until it’s too late.

I wish you and your daughter (and the young man) luck. There are worthwhile youngsters out there but we have to cultivate many more of them!

Outstanding article. I graduated college recently and sympathize with any White parents who are nervous about sending their kids to a university campus.

The only thing about this piece that I would question is whether it’s more necessary to instill racial consciousness in girls than in boys. Unfortunately, I don’t think we can count on young men to “figure things out” on their own. Race-mixing propaganda has affected young men as much, if not more, than their female counterparts. From what I saw on campus, White guys were more likely than girls to date and have sex with non-whites. College-age White men are definitely more right-wing politically than college-age White women, but that didn’t seem to translate into greater racial loyalty.

It’s every White dad’s worst nightmare (and rightly so!) for their daughter to be sleeping around with Blacks, but the White girls who do engage in that behavior tend to be those who are physically and mentally very unhealthy, often overweight and addicted to drugs or alcohol, and who have no relationship with their father. Any dads reading Counter-Currents probably shouldn’t be too worried about that happening.

On the other hand, many of my White, male, Trump voting, and casually racist friends, who after a drink or two will eagerly tell me they agree with most of my views, have embraced the idea that it’s some sort of badge of honor to hook up with non-White girls. The message that young White men should be trying to get with “exotic” non-White women instead of women of their own race has unfortunately found an audience even among right-wing “racist” college guys.

      This is how it is.

Right Wing guys have always been more likely to date non-White women than Leftist guys.  I think the reasons for this are that RW guys might just have stronger sex drives, and non-White women tend to be more attracted to traditional masculinity — which you don’t really see in Leftists.

Also, let’s not forget that RW and WN are two different things that overlap somewhat.

It’s also rather likely that these non-white women (esp if they are recent arrivals to America) aren’t as allergic to potentially having babies in their early 20s, like liberal White American women are, & this would appeal to right-wingers.  All the dating sites have reported that White men are still the #1 pick of women in every single ethnic group (over their own Asian or Hispanic men) when searching for a mate.

I live in a university town and see a distressing number of white male students with Asian women.  As I told a friend the other day: I kind of get it, even though it’s awful, because the Chinese girls are thin and they wear slinky dresses, high heels, and makeup.  They probably don’t berate the guys about their “toxic” masculinity.  Too many of the white girls have Day-Glo hair, tattoos, piercings and generally look like fat bulldykes.  What an awful choice.

Asian girls feel disadvantaged compared to whites in terms of looks, so they work hard to be attractive and agreeable.

Why don’t plain to ugly white women do the same thing? Why do so many ugly themselves up instead?

Plain but stylish and agreeable white women could have their pick of white men, given that highly attractive white women have little incentive to actually be pleasant.

I’m sure every campus is different, but I haven’t gotten the impression that East Asian girls are more traditional or conservative than White girls are. Same with Hispanic girls. Non-White women buy into the same feminist and anti-White narratives than many White women do, and their voting patterns bear that out.

        —

So-called Right Wing guys who “date” non-White women are lost to serious racial separatists. So are so-called Leftist guys who would do the same. Dr. Pierce explained to his National Alliance members nearly 50 years ago why NA is neither right-wing nor left-wing, and still isn’t today, in his classic speech: Our Cause | National Vanguard

…I’m sure that one of the difficulties people have in trying to understand us is that they can’t figure out quite how to categorize us. They’re accustomed to putting everything they encounter in life into little, mental pigeonholes labeled right-wing, left-wing, communist, racist, and so on. And once they’ve done that, they think they understand the thing.

Now the trouble is that we don’t quite fit any of the customary pigeonholes. And that is because the doctrine of the National Alliance, the truth for which we stand, is not just a rehash of old and familiar ideas but is really something new to Americans.

Perhaps the best way to approach an understanding of the Alliance is to start by getting rid of some of the most troublesome pigeonholes altogether. That is, by pointing out what we are not. We are not, as many people tend to assume at first, either a conservative or a right-wing group. And I’m not just trying to be cute when I say that. I’m not just trying to emphasize that we are a special right-wing group or a better right-wing group. In fact, our truth has very little in common with most right-wing creeds. We’re not interested, for example, in restoring the Constitution. The Constitution, written 200 years ago, served a certain purpose well for a time. But that time is now passed. Nor was its purpose the same as our purpose today. We’re not interested in states’ rights, in restoring the former sovereignty of the individual states. We do not believe, as our conservative friends do, that a strong and centralized government is an evil in itself. It is, in fact, a necessity in overcoming many of the obstacles which lie ahead of us as a people.

What else is dear to the hearts of right-wingers? Do we want to restore prayer and Bible reading to the public schools? Hardly. Anti-fluoridation? Nonsense. Income tax? Abortion? Pornography? Well, we may sympathize more with the right-wing position on these issues than we do with the left-wing position, but they are still only peripheral issues for us. They are not the reason why we are here. They are not the things we are prepared to die for.

There are, in fact, several issues on which we are closer to what would ordinarily be considered the left-wing or liberal position than we are to the conservative or right-wing position. One of these issues is the ecology issue: the protection of our natural environment, the elimination of pollution, and the protection of wildlife. And there are also other issues in which we are closer to the liberals than to the conservatives, although I doubt that we agree with them completely on any issue; just as we seldom, if ever, agree completely with the right-wing on any issue.

The reason for the lack of complete agreement, when there seems to be approximate agreement, with either the right or the left is that our position on every issue is derived from an underlying view of the world which is fundamentally different from those of either the right or the left. That is, to the extent that they have any underlying philosophy at all. Often there is none, and a great many people who identify themselves as liberals, conservatives, or moderates simply have an assortment of views on various issues which are not related to any common idea, purpose, or philosophy.

Before we turn to a positive look at the Alliance, let me inject just a few more negatives…

Read more about Our Cause at the link above. If you then consider yourself a right-winger, the National Alliance is probably not for you.

I think the idea that Rightists are more likely to race mix than Leftists is very implausible. Leftists are far more into multiculturalism, associate more with nonwhites, and crusade for race mixing. So why wouldn’t you expect them to actually engage in it? But all this is speculation. It can actually be empirically tested. Maybe it already has.

“…question is whether it’s more necessary to instill racial consciousness in girls than in boys.”

It’s more important to instill racial loyalty in young women than men for this reason:  it’s substantially more racially genocidal when a White woman risks pregnancy with a black male than vice-versa.  It’s also more demoralizing to view White women w/ non-White men, than White guys with non-white women.

White guys dating non-white women can simply be viewed as goofy & undiscerning, but White woman dating non-Whites become tainted goods in the eyes of respectable White men.

What’s tricky is being unavailable AND being polite when black/Latino/Indian male collage classmates want to walk you to your car, etc.  Girls need to have quick & good excuses ready in advance.  Just being seated in public at the same big dining table with multi-culti classmates/workmates would lead onlookers to assume the White gal is willing to date someone non-White at that table.  That was Maryland, back in 1992.  Maybe folks aren’t as presumptuous as that these days though.  I feel lucky I met my husband at 18 before I even started taking college classes.

May I inquire:  In what state or general region was the college you recently attended?

I graduated in 2023 from a school in the Appalachian region. The student body was about 80% White, and the surrounding area was closer to 90%. It was an awesome place to live, although even there you had to be careful around the local Blacks.

I agree that it’s more demoralizing to see a White girl with a non-White guy than the other way around. At the same time, there’s a tendency to criticize these girls, who often have no male authority figure in their lives, for “burning the coal” but to give guys a pass for doing the same thing. It would be great if more White women saw White men who date non-Whites as “damaged goods.” Many college guys would think twice about getting with an Asian or Latina classmate if they knew they couldn’t just go back to dating White girls after the novelty wore off.

OK, I’m going over well trodden ground, but I’m going to go over it again. In the third paragraph of your comment,  you mention your observation that I’m sure everyone is aware of – that Black male/White female couplings usually feature a socially dysfunctional, physically unattractive, poorly educated woman. Its the same in every White country where non-Whites have settled. The UK is no exception. I read once (please don’t ask me the source, because I can’t remember!) that for every White woman with a college-level education who has a Black male partner, there are eleven White women with either minimal or no academic qualifications whatsoever. I don’t know what the ratio is for White female/other non-White male groupings is, but I get the impression it’s relatively low.

Also, your observation of White male/Asian female dating: Academically bright but perhaps socially clumsy young White men are quite frequently drawn to Asian women because they see them as being non-threatening and easy to get along with, whereas highly attractive young White women are almost out of reach due to their natures and the intense competition from more socially-assertive, less introspective males of all races.

You are correct on all of those points, but what I was referring to is when socially successful and confident young White guys who make a conscious effort to have sex with non-White women because they believe it’s the cool, exotic, or adventurous thing to do, not because there aren’t any White women interested in them.

Fetishization of non-White women because they aren’t White plays a role in this, and I think the (((porn industry))) is partly to blame.

As an average academic, I can say that these mutants are a tiny, albeit aggressive, minority. The problem with today’s students is not that they are all becoming these crazy woke. Most white students are just completely inert normies who repeat woke gibberish mechanically because it’s the fashion and it’s supposed to be said.

The absolute percentage of woke freaks on campus is less relevant than comparing the percentage on campus to the percentage of the general population. If your daughter’s chances of ending up that way increase tenfold, you’d be well advised to keep her away from college.

Still, the greatest damage college does to young women across the board is to decrease their happiness and fertility. Far more future cat ladies graduate than trannies.

In 25 or so years of perusing academic journals, many of them broach subjects like Sociology and Women’s Studies from Leftist (is there any other?) perspectives and they invariably argue that empirical data somehow shows that marriage and family is the most demanding and the most disheartening thing that a woman can ever do ─ the clear path to inevitable ruin and her deep unhappiness.

This is a questionable hypothesis, of course.

And another theme popular in sophisticated media is that Prince Charming ain’t coming on a white horse, girlfren. No man measures up except maybe Rastus, the guy who enjoys the blunts and malt liquor that all the White girls be talking about.

Anyway, obviously the inference here is that what White college girls need is to be convinced that what she should do instead of marriage and kids (except maybe by LeRoi) is to get an advanced degree ─ and some of these pundits practically argue that marriage for a woman before thirty is effectively rape.

Of course, the reality is that pursuing too much useless education and career and she will end up either being another woman using her advanced degree to pour artisanal lattes at Starbucks when she is a literal cat lady or “animal lover” in her forties, or another Lesbian college professor in her fifties who blames her life on the Patriarchy.

I think women need to be educated enough to fit into society, train their children and competently help them with their homework, and to be marketable enough to get a job if she ever has to. But, contrary to what the academic journals are saying, the most important thing she should do in college is to find a decent man to get that coveted Mrs. degree.

Courses on Dating, Courtship & Marriage used to be offered at some institutions of higher learning ─ BYU, for example ─ and some of these were effectively required for graduation. Now if there is any life-skills training offered at most Universities, it is usually something related to multicultural coping for Whites and grievance studies for the rest.

Even the University libraries no longer have books on their shelves; they have all been put into storage and are only available upon request, with the floor and shelf space now gainfully used for Social Justice exhibits and curated “our-communities” literature.

Yeah, if Dads are paying tuition for any of this, then they had better make sure that the educational goals and majors that their kids are pursuing are worthwhile and promising. As far as I’m concerned, the “guaranteed student loan” ripoff system cannot be dismantled fast enough.

Separation is the only answer – to everything. Sadly, that’s not on the table at the moment, but it must be forever kept uppermost in our minds as the goal. Separation of our people’s minds today, and their bodies tomorrow.

SQ is correct: for now, parents must just educate their teens in racial and political realities. For the white middle to upper classes, college attendance will be a ‘thing’ for some considerable time. But I knew even in the late 70s in high school to keep my most extreme racial views (ones that are merely conventional wisdom around here, but were very radical among the educated even in the 70s) to myself once I entered college (my boarding school housemasters knew of what I believed, but some of them were very rightwing, too, so it wasn’t an issue, and even the more liberal ones were only amused at my being a ‘crazy’ rightwinger and fanatical immigration restrictionist).

This is a horrible time to be a white person, certainly the worst of my own lifetime, and it’s only going to get much worse going forward. People were using the boiling frog metaphor to describe our situation as far back as the 70s (though I didn’t learn that fact until I discovered Instauration in the later 80s). Every reaction is always too little, too late.

But as the awakened ones, we have a transcendent moral obligation to keep on fighting as best we can. I am truly heartened to see this rapidly expanding prowhite intellectual movement. Remember: the Judeo-Russian intelligentsia spent decades as “coffeehouse agitators” before times became propitious for their Bolshevik Revolution. There is no guarantee that our time will in fact arrive, but there are cycles in the mass-mind, and as long as the objective conditions favoring us continue to exist (or intensify, as I predict), sudden large scale awakening and radical action remains a real possibility. We may be more, much more, than mere cataloguers of our people’s downfall. Keep the faith.

This is the article I’ve been waiting for. The topic of eventually sending my young daughters to university has bugged me some time. I even asked the question of Greg and Mark Weber in a past AMA, but the answers were a bit incomplete. Unfortunately, this piece, too, is missing a key component.

I understand the danger in sending our daughters to college. And delaying higher education while pursing family formation instead, makes sense. But this ignores the critical step of how to find that suitable mate.

University life offers many opportunities for a young lady to find an intelligent, well educated and, eventually, well paid husband. How does a young woman just out of highschool find a worthy mate without participating in college life? Sharing classes with future engineers, doctors and lawyers offers the best chance for a daughter to pair off with a good husband and future father to her children. (This, of course, assumes that the girl is racially aware and innoculated against leftism before matriculating)

The eugenic aspect of college, as Greg alluded to, is still a real thing. And I can’t envision a practical alternative to that for a young uneducated woman living at home with her parents. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

      My opinion:

Hobbies – A young woman might find a masculine hobby that she can also enjoy – paragliding for example. Typically it will be full of men who will be attracted to the woman in their midst. She can pick her favorite with little or no competition from other women. Basically, to meet men, go where men concentrate. (Obviously don’t pick a hobby that attracts the wrong kind of man.)
Church in conservative areas – Find a church with young couples and children, not one full of elderly people. The men there will tend to be serious about marriage.
Trades – Similar to the “hobbies” point above, a young woman can learn a masculine trade like welding, machining, or whatever. In addition to having a valuable skill, she will meet tons of men who will be surprised by and attracted to the woman in their midst. She can quit when she gets pregnant, and maybe pick it up again later.
Be fit – A woman who keeps herself in shape will turn way more heads than a fat one. Similarly, no tattoos, no dyed hair, no fake-looking makeup, no clothes full of holes. A woman should present herself in a way that would attract the kind of man she hopes to meet.
Be marriage-minded – A young woman’s parents should raise her with an expectation of marriage by providing her with guidance as to what the general arc of her life should look like. Don’t leave it to her to figure out on her own (i.e. imbibe from our sick culture), and don’t let her hang around with party girls who are on the wrong track. She should know to expect commitment from men, not just let them use her for free.
Don’t wait for Mr. Perfect – A woman’s prime is in her early 20s. She should not wait until her mid-30s looking for the perfect man. If she does, she’ll end up having to settle for much less than she could have gotten in her prime, and her fertility will be in rapid decline. Find a decent man and marry him in the prime of life.
Don’t expect a fairy-tale marriage – Set appropriate expectations. Marriage is work. Marriage is not fun. Marriage puts you in constant proximity to someone with all their faults and flaws. Your husband may not be your best friend. He should treat you decently, and you should treat him decently, and you should love each other, but you probably won’t live happily ever after like in the Disney movies. A marriage is the foundation of a family. It is necessary and important. In a marriage you have duties and responsibilities. Fulfill your duties and find a man who’ll fulfill his duties. Find what fun and excitement you can, but understand that happy children bring joy and satisfaction to one’s life. Happy children and a sense of stability and security are the main payoffs for the work involved in marriage – not vacations, cruises, fairy-tale endings, or anything like that!

And of course, doing volunteer work, will lead you to meet less self-centered people.

The martial arts suggestion is a good one. One of my female friends, who is about 21, met her boyfriend at a Jiu-Jitsu class.

Younger women who want to meet a physically healthy partner, while staying in shape themselves. might do well to invest in a gym membership. Men outnumber women by a significant margin. My cousin met her husband at the gym, and they’ve been happily married for almost fifteen years.

How do the fathers of girls replicate the eugenic effects of college, assuming they still exist, outside of college? This is a very important question.

The first thing to do is teach your daughters to have good taste in men, which is something that falls more to mothers, but good fathers generally become their daughters’ models for husbands. Ideally, the mother should be encouraging her daughters to look for good men like their father.

Beyond that, make a study of the kinds of hobbies, sports, interests, and social circles that good quality bachelors are drawn to, and make your family a part of them.

This is novel territory for most Western parents. We have been so inculcated to channel our children into the college pipeline, that any deviation from that path seems alien.

I’ll rework an earlier comment I made on the original podcast post.

As for girls in college, I just look at the statistics. University education for women is correlated with childlessness, loneliness, depression, diagnoses of mental illness, psychiatric drug prescriptions, and I think alcoholism too. And if they navigate all that they’ll probably graduate deep in debt, and expecting a career. Once they go into a career their chance of marrying and having children drops further.

Even for boys, unless they have some particular talent they should probably avoid university. Back when university students had an average IQ of 130, our universities turned out great men, but when the average student IQ is a mere 100, the universities must be dumbed down a great deal.

Surveys consistently show that while men hardly care at all how much money their wife makes, the great majority of women demand men who make significantly more than they do, and the more money women make, the greater the effect becomes! Rationally, a woman who makes a lot of money can afford to choose a man based on other criteria, but that’s not how it works, so by going to university and starting a career, women only tend to raise their financial standards higher and higher. When you add in the pressure to delay childbirth during the career-building stage, it’s disastrous for marriage and fertility rates.

Sociologists tell us that the #1 way to lower fertility is to educate women and get them into the workplace. (Typically they’re talking about getting high-fertility countries under control.) The second best way to lower fertility seems to be delaying the age of first childbirth. Waiting until 30 to get married (which most women will interpret as ‘start looking for a husband’) consigns a woman to having few children at best.

But if those are the best ways to lower a nation’s fertility, then I can only assume that the best way to raise a nation’s fertility is to do the opposite: get women out the workplace and out of universities, and tell them to get married in their early-to-mid 20s at the latest.

But I do support women being able to have careers – after they raise a couple children. (I expect, though, that once they do that, going out and working will seem much less attractive by comparison.)

This is especially pertinent for me as I have nothing but daughters — three of them. My oldest is a young teenager and this conversation has been a slight source of disagreement between my wife and I. I have stated to my oldest many times that college is inadvisable and her goal should be to find a good young man to marry and support her. She will have no shortage of suitors, that is for sure. My wife does not like this, but frankly I do not care.

At the same time, I have instilled a racial identity in her in age-appropriate ways for years now, and she is fully aware that miscegenation is grounds for being disowned. I am not the slightest bit concerned about that possibility, and not really concerned about her succumbing to radical left-wing ideology either. Nevertheless I won’t contribute to her going to college and will continue to discourage it, as I will with my younger ones as well.

Sex and the City writer Candace Bushnell, 60, admits she regrets choosing career over staying married & having children.  She is now ‘truly alone’

Be sure to give your gals lots of compliments on their tasty culinary creations.  Remark about how sad it is that some great female cooks (pursue “what they love to do” &) become professional cooks/chefs for the public, always stuck cooking for complete strangers on holidays & weekends, instead of sharing their recipes with close family who will stick by them for life.

Here’s the argument for having kids that won me over, because I didn’t see the point of getting married if I wasn’t going to have kids:  We have an obligation to raise kids who are smart & can keep first-world things running & operational.  And hopefully they will make a similar investment in their own children.  A job in the workforce can be filled by anyone, but no stranger/daycare can act as a replacement for you in your own child’s life.

All good points here. but surely the main point is that the university system itself is bloated  far beyond its means and ought to crumble. Not just girls not going, most boys shouldn’t go either. I’d like to see all universities reduce by about 98%. This may already be happening, we may have reached peak uni. The cracks are starting to show in the uni system, which is now a fraudulent ponzi scheme that exists to conjure money out of thin air for weak harebrained Marxists who would sink like a stone in the free market.

I think women need to go to college just because modern men wont respect an uneducated woman, particularly in the higher IQ bracket.  I think this is why certain nonwhites, such as Indians and Jews, are taking some of our highest IQ men, such as JD Vance.  White women need to get in the game and turn themselves into something our smartest men will respect.

I must disagree here. A young woman who has grown up in a farming environment and hasn’t had a college education can prove a very good no-nonsense partner with strong basic qualities regarding things that matter. Her mind hasn’t been filled with the usual crap, she probably won’t have an inflated idea of herself, and she won’t argue with her husband about intellectual niceties.

DP, I couldn’t disagree with you more.

~90% of the time, college is indoctrination & not education.  Most gals are still choosing psychology as their major.

I wasted 4 years in college & I could have had 2 more kids in that time (perhaps a daughter!)  And you don’t need to be in Who’s Who to know what’s what.   I’ve never heard of any guy whose #1 criteria for a wife was academic achievement or book-wormishness.

“I think this is why certain nonwhites, such as Indians and Jews, are taking some of our highest IQ men, such as JD Vance.”

High IQ JD Vance??  While he’s well-spoken, & has some mesmerizing blue eyes, he chose to dilute his most physically attractive feature, by having racially mixed-up kids.  He’s an unprincipled $ell-out to be avoided like the plague.

In case you happen to be a civnat:

Between (Israel-first) Vance & (Israel-First) DeSantis, DeSantis is a better American leader because at least he was able to score a White American wife & mother for his children & the future of our country.

DarkPlato, if you have been the beneficiary of a mother’s “husband stitch” given to her after she delivered a baby, you can thank her male ObGyn.  Women docs (& my sis is one) are more feminist & do not typically give much thought to the satisfaction of the husband/baby’s father.

My youngest son plans to become a physician.   The majority of  students in pre-med are female.  And this bulk of females has managed to drive down the worth/salary for ALL general practitioners in the U.S.  I know this because there are currently 3 female (& quite outspoken) physicians in my family.  One of the three admits to me, looking back, she wished she had stayed a nurse/not gone to med school, and had more of her own children.

I’ll bet half of them are arguing that it is male doctors ordering the C-sections for the benefit of the husband if not her bikini line ─ and always against the wishes of the wise midwives ─ and the other half of them arguing that the female doctors are ordering the caesarians for whatever good and sensible fight-the-patriarchy reasons.

I really try to limit my talking to factual things, & not myths, because we have all been lied to for so long.

            I have personal experience w/ natural delivery & c-sections.

And re women’s leg shaving– I had noticed that women in France didn’t shave their legs & underarms, & when I was in high school (80s), I researched the origins of modern American women shaving their bodies.  It began in the U.S., mid 1940s, after American soldiers had personal enjoyable contact with (less hirsute) Oriental women’s bodies overseas.  And American girlfriends, eager to please, picked up the habit.

I’m of working class background and first got involved in White-identity politics in the year nineteen-eighty-and-frozen-to-death. I remember back in the 1980’s going out on dates with girls who you couldn’t have a meaningful conversation with even if they were not politically hostile.

In pre-internet times, people used to advertise in the “personal” columns in newspapers and magazines using box numbers. You would write into the box number with an enclosed stamped addressed envelope and usually a photograph of yourself. A great many of the younger female advertisers were single mothers of minimal education and totally unsuitable.

I resolved that the best way to meet a woman who had anything worthwhile to say was to take myself off to university which I did during my mid-twenties – but I made damn sure that I didn’t raise politics in conversations or join in with conversations relating to them.

Sure enough, I managed to expand my social circle, escaping the dead-end proto-wignat predicament that had previously been suffocating me. I met a good few intelligent, if not politically aligned women along the way, a couple of whom I’m still in occasional platonic contact with.

Years later, she told me that an obnoxious, sneaky and physically feeble male housemate of hers had tried to advise her not to have anything to do with me, as he suspected me of being – SHOCK, HORROR – A FASCIST! How he worked it out, I don’t know (And to this day, I don’t care. In fact I took it as something of a compliment) – was it my recognizable preference for easily observable patterns of people’s behaviour? Maybe that I wore sensible, clean clothes that didn’t have holes in them? Or perhaps, if I arranged to meet someone, I actually turned up?! Maybe even, if I borrowed something I’d return it?

As a childless man of a certain age, my advice, for what it’s worth, for young women would be some form of on the job training which would assist the acquisition of practical and relevant hands-on skills, combined with a simultaneous related college course; this may perhaps help alleviate the worst of the toxic atmosphere that colleges exude. As for young men regarding higher education – get in; keep your mouth shut – and get out as quickly as possible.

Steven Pinker argues against this fairly convincingly in The Blank Slate, or so I thought a decade ago when I read it, but even if a child’s peers have much more influence, a parent can shape the social network of his children, at least for the first dozen years I’d guess, and I think that would help a lot in setting a child up for success.

As a professor, I must stress that Western universities function primarily as bastions of conformity. They operate precisely so that an academic with illiberal views can never express them until he has tenure. And even then he is not safe and is at risk of cancellation at any time. So if you want to keep quiet and pretend all your life, become an academic at a university. It would help us immensely if there were independent research institutions and universities, adequately funded, where we could cultivate normal scientific careers while having freedom of research and expression.

Lord Shang: April 25, 2025 Separation is the only answer – to everything. Sadly, that’s not on the table at the moment, but it must be forever kept uppermost in our minds as the goal…

    —

Thank you, Lord. For serious White racial separatists separation is “on the table” and everything else — all compromises and half-measures — are not. Ours may not be a big table now, but it is the best table for those Whites who are eligiblle to be seated.

It starts with the individual and his family, then to their community and beyond, It is doable and not complicated. A general plan: What is the National Alliance? | National Alliance

Mississippi Governor and U.S. Senator Theodore Bilbo wrote the book Take Your Choice Separation or Mongrelization in 1947.  He realized that segregation was not enough and invoked considerable opposition from his fellow Southerners because of his demand that physical geographical separation was the only way to preserve Western Civilization.

“If we choose any plan short of the physical separation of the races, we are in effect adopting the scheme of amalgamation of the races. Any student of racial history knows that if the Negroes remain in the United States, the last American will be an octoroon or a mongrel . . . If the Negroes are not removed, this condition may come about in three to five hundred years: The fact that it will come sooner or later is a certainty.”

At the increased rate that amalgamation of Whites with non-Whites has been going in America, Bilbo’s 1947 estimate of 300-500 years is way off.

It’s too late to preserve Western Civilization, but to determined separatists it is not to late to preserve the White race.

I think there are some misperceptions (not necessarily by the author, I’m speaking generally) about what is happening on college campuses:

The LGBT indoctrination is extremely bad, and it is bigger issue for young women than many people think. Many of these girls start off as introverted, socially awkward individuals who genuinely mean well. Some have severe trauma, self-esteem issues, or are obsessed with yaoi. A few have dysphoria that doesn’t have any sexual or traumatic explanation. I was somewhat of a tomboy in high school and I think there is a difference between girls who have always had masculine interests and those who masculinize themselves as a trauma-response.

A lot of White men who date non-White try to pass it off by using arguments along the lines of “I’m just really into exotic women because they’re more traditional” when the truth is that their SMV (Sexual Market Value) is higher with non-Whites than White women. Some men who struggle to date White women who are their ‘looksmatch’ find it easy to date Latinos or Asians. Conversely, White women are more likely to mix for excitement / rebelliousness / entertainment / etc.

A lot of college age White women are chasing the same men (often chosen for physical reasons) whereas Asian women are more likely to go after men who they see as having long term earning potential. I’ve even had Asian women tell me this. You can also watch vids from female Asian dating coaches on TikTok. Asian and Jewish women are a huge ‘brain drain’ on White genetics, IMO.

I agree, and nonwhite women do not seem to be sensitive to the precise quality of the white man they want, ie they don’t seem to care if the guy is intrinsically ugly or not, only that he is white, so an unattractive white guy can get a better nonwhite girl.  It’s sort of a leveler.

Sorry duplicated comment somehow.  But I will add that the Greeks understood genetic loading.  Hercules was the son Zeus.  But he had perseus(also son of Zeus) on his mothers side.  So I was like, isn’t that inbreeding?  But Zeus by definition has no genetic loading!  So more Zeus is always better!  That’s why Hercules was the greatest of the demigods–he had more Zeus in him!

It makes sense though—both correspond with less genetic loading.  Height also correlated with iq for similar reasons.

Hi Dani, just for clarification, by “Asians” are you referring to Asian folks from the Orient (China/Japan) or Asian folks who look like they could be natives of India?

Within the U.S., stats have shown that White males w/ non-white wives do (oddly enough) have the longest lasting marriages of any marital racial combo.  I heard my favorite streamer theorizes that this is because non-white women realize they have hit the ultimate jackpot, & there’s absolutely no ‘trading up’, from a marrying a White man.

During my life, I’ve seen many financially well-off couples buy their way out of problems as opposed to fix things themselves.  Women w/ their husbands need to train their children on how to problem solve.  Gobs of $ may not always be available, & there will always be somebody else with more money than we have.

        Hi Kim,

I’m referring to East Asians, I haven’t discussed dating with any South Asian women and I’m less familiar with their culture.

From what I’ve seen, some Asian and Latino women definitely view marrying a White man as an upgrade. They often prefer to marry those with blonde hair and light eyes & are a bit deluded about the odds of those features appearing in their children. I once had a dark Chinese woman tell me she was hoping for a daughter who would grow up to have bright red hair and blue eyes!

I also agree that money isn’t everything, and I wouldn’t encourage gold-digger type behavior. I just don’t see that much of it among GenZers though. Most of the ‘f*ckbois’ that I’ve met haven’t been especially wealthy and I think that the redpillers & manospherians are somewhat correct about many women dating for fun in their early 20s and then looking for a provider at a later date.

I also don’t agree with the manosphere types about everything. I honestly think that women like Pearl Davis are, to a certain degree, playing the role of old school radio shock jocks by emphasizing the worst female behavior for clicks.

Always baffled by this trope. Who “sends” their daughters or sons to university? Kids do it on their own. They have the brains, grades, special talents and/or athletic abilities to get into a top-tier university, or else they settle for what is achievable and aim for higher glory in graduate or professional school. Or…maybe they don’t.

The whole expression sounds like a kind of upwardly mobile lower-middle class idea (class here referring to family background, not current income). Who are these kids who are so  under their parents’ thumbs? Some kind of strivers? Or have I just missed out on helicopter parenting?

I can’t remember my parents ever pushing me or my sister and brothers to any institution of higher education, and I believe the same was true in the two previous generations. I never guided my own children to follow this path or that, or to apply to a particular college, but they certainly understood there were ways of gaming the system to get the best result.

This third-hand belief that girls who go to the better (or even the worser) colleges will end up with blue hair and tattoos and nose piercings, is ludicrous, far-fetched, and mainly espoused by social-media memes. Every bit as inane as the idea that boys should become trig-welders rather than go to MIT…because welders can make $100,000 their first year!

Good luck applying to med or law or grad school five years later.

Margot is right people, your ability to guide your children decreases every year they get older, they are not going to blindly do what you tell them. The best that you can hope for is to bond with them when they are young, and try to instill good decision making skills, and pro-white values. 🧑‍🎓

It was a long time ago, but in my experience, it was very much expected that I’d go to college – not a matter of if, but where.  Then I’d have to see it through, because if I’d dropped out, I still would’ve been getting hell about it 20 years later.  I wasn’t told this, but I certainly knew it.

If I were having the conversation with a high schooler looking ahead, I’d discuss lots of things.  First, not all degree programs will get the same kind of results.  Choosing wrong means $80,000 of debt and working for Fivebucks Coffee.  Also, campuses may vary greatly.  Most of them will feature a lot of indoctrination.  The kiddos will have to understand that there will be a lot of professors (as well as brainwashed students) trying to hijack their minds.  It does happen, by the way – one of my friends went from ROTC member to liberal weenie in 2 or 3 months.

Re:  “Who ‘sends’ their daughters or sons to university? Kids do it on their own.”

In other words:  parents are happy to pick up the costs of their kids 4 year college education.  (This happened to be the case with me, as with many gals I knew, who graduated from Catholic high school in the late ’80s.)

At the time, I did not understand why on earth I was choosing to live 1 more day on this super-corrupt planet, let alone could I understand the reason for wasting time or anyone’s money, to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

Among other things, in my senior year of high school, I worked the counter at a diner on Sundays .  The stools were always filled with based older guys, many w/ their Sunday newspapers in hand, & they would yak about politics & drink coffee for literally hours.  They’d ask me what my plans were once I graduated high school.  I said I was headed to college.  They asked, “Why?”  Looking back, it was to try to make my dad happy.  He told me, “You’ll need to go to college to obtain a high paying job which requires a college degree.”

(Even though I had no desire whatsoever to obtain gobs of money, & I was most interested in philosophy, I decided to earn a “free” bachelor’s degree in hospital management & administration on his dime, since I was also working in a hospital part-time in medical supplies.

“I never guided my own children to follow this path or that, or to apply to a particular college, but they certainly understood there were ways of gaming the system to get the best result.”

I’ve actively tried to steer my sons away from becoming brainwashed cogs in the wheel.  One even joined the Navy a couple years ago?!  AND he followed their orders to take the @#$%  clot shot, in order to join their nuke engineering school.   (Thank God he’s been discharged early.)

“This third-hand belief that girls who go to the better (or even the worser) colleges will end up with blue hair and tattoos and nose piercings, is ludicrous, far-fetched, and mainly espoused by social-media memes.”

Last year, I visited one of my sons on his college campus.  (He received a full academic scholarship.  I didn’t pick up the tab.)  The White boys I saw walking around the campus looked to be in a numeric minority + most were sporting pink/dyed orange jello-colored hair w/ facial piercings!

I knew too many kids with missing or dead parents to assume that “parents pay tuition so they control where you go” routine. Actually I rather fear for youngsters who are that much under their parents’ thumb when they get to be 17 or 18.

Besides which, there are plenty of ways to get a decent education on the cheap. You can be a star track/cross-country runner, e.g., and get good grades in high school, and get a fat scholarship and other financial aid from Princeton. Take a “gap year” off and do something interesting, like work on a cargo steamer. Admissions offices love that stuff. Even without scholarships or deep pockets, you can be a day-hop at some community college (which can be decent for education, if lacking in collegiality, athletics and extracurrics) and then finish up the bachelors in a cheap state school. Of course you could join the military for a while too, but that’s not right for everyone, and it’s better if you finish college first.

Margot Metroland: April 29, 2025 …Of course you could join the military for a while too, but that’s not right for everyone, and it’s better if you finish college first…

          —

I can relate to that, Margot. I joined the Army while still in high school and did well for four years, then attended university, taking advantage of my measly $175 per month GI Bill. My father had told his three boys, “Go to college if you want to, but I won’t be paying for it.”

This essay is about daughters going to college, and I have opinions on that, but what I would like to relate is my memory of  the load of crap we students were told in high school back in the mid-1960s:

By graduating from  college you will make $100,000 more in you lifetime than if you only have a high school degree.

Ha! How has that worked out with inflation? An excellent personal story on this subject is from my friend John Massaro, here: Don’t Go to College (and Other Thoughts on Education) | National Vanguard

ASK ANY BOOMER and he’ll tell you how it was drilled into our heads, as teenagers, that “you can’t get anywhere without a college education.” What that actually meant was that you couldn’t get a job that paid well. When it came time to enter the workforce, we were led to believe, a college degree was essential unless you wanted to settle for a lowly blue collar job that would barely pay a living wage…

At some point, I learned that this is an American thing, and for that reason we have an awful lot of students who don’t belong in college. In Europe, it’s different. Upon graduating high school, young men of average intelligence are encouraged to learn a trade — a skilled occupation, be it plumber, electrician, carpenter — that every advanced society needs. Of course, we have that in the US too, but not as much as in Europe, where this superstitious belief that “you can’t get anywhere” without graduating from college hardly exists. Or so I’ve been told.

Well, things have really changed in the last fifty years, but before I get to that, let me take a look at the good old days, meaning the 1970s when I went to college, and the rule of thumb was that most employers at high-end companies or government agencies would only hire college graduates. It didn’t matter what you majored in, or if you didn’t know who George Washington was, or you couldn’t multiply 5 X 10 in your head, all that mattered was that you put your four years in and got your sheepskin. And this really was the mindset of many employers: “Don’t bother applying unless you’re a college graduate.”…

Neither John nor I finished college, and my father never even attended, but we all did quite well in life, being independent-minded and self-educated for the most part.

My advice to young Whites is to become independent as a goal — do not climb that expensive academic lader that leads to a career in what I highlighted from John above, corporate or government agencies. Read the right books and don’t fret over that <cough!> promise of the myrhical extra $100,000 for a career like that where you will likely lose your independence, your freedom really.

Something kinda bothers me about this comment, the thing is kids today, it must be said, are very much stupider than they were 4_ years ago, or whenever you were in school …. if they aren’t going into a stem field, qualified to do some sort of quantum physics thing (yes, there are always people who’ll be able to add numbers as well as ever, it requires zero in super-cultural education), if it isn’t a scholarship, whatever, these kids are very much getting in there with their parent’s paying the way…. It’s whatever remnants of the boomer class remain, with their notions of respectability, future career enhancement and the like, that is keeping many of the “Institutes of Higher Learning” afloat…. I predict mass closings of even state colleges in the next five years. Speaking of white kids: most of the girls there are just using the place as an excuse to tramp around (via their clothes, they’re not actually attracting that many boys to ask them anywhere, with the terrifying prospects, sermons concerning sexual misapprehensions lingering above their heads).
