The thrill is gone
It’s gone away from me …
Although, I’ll still live on
But so lonely I’ll be.
–B. B. King, “The Thrill is Gone”
Thank God for “in retrospect.” How often does it help you make sense of the crazy things you experienced years ago that seemed to make no sense? Time passes, more facts emerge, emotions cool; then, “in retrospect” you connect the dots and, suddenly, a clearer picture comes into focus. Your initial experience was not yet complete. Parts were missing and/or the assumptions you were making were flawed.
So, as the purifying baptismal waters of Black History Month wash our sins away – well, a few of them, maybe? – perhaps it would be worthwhile to put the first black President, Barack Obama in retrospect. It’s been a little over twenty years since the rapture of his dramatic appearance. Now that the “thrill is gone,” perhaps it will be easier to understand what it was about him that enabled him to jump from being a back bench, nobody state Senator to the President of the United States in just four years. At the time, it made no sense. To our great sorrow, it does now.
Obama suddenly appeared at the Democrat Presidential convention in 2004 to give a speech that put the political class abuzz. The cat ladies and the bleeding hearts of the Democrat Party who were into the romanticizing of black victimhood were positively orgasmic. A young, nice looking, telegenic black man had read inspirational sounding, compound sentences off of a teleprompter competently for twenty minutes, and now they were talking about him as the next President of the United States.
“There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America.”
When I heard this, I thought: “Wait a minute – ‘not a black … Latino … Asian America …’? Au contraire! This is what these people have been pushing for decades. Democrats and identity politics, anyone? Who was it that gave us the plague of Black Studies, Women Studies, Latino Studies, Gay Studies majors at the universities? The audience doesn’t believe it; the man saying it doesn’t believe it. What is going on? This guy looks like a suit salesman lurking in the Men’s Ware department at Von Maur, and what’s with ‘Barack Hussein Obama’? Where the hell is he from? Is all of this a passing collective hysteria?”
The collective hysteria was passing, but its damage was of the permanently horrific kind that seems to be a Democrat specialty. The speech launched Obama into the national spotlight, and it was in reference to it that his then-rival, Hillary Clinton in the 2008 primary with desperation and frustration fumed that all he had ever done in his brief political career was “give a speech!” Indeed, the not-all-that-bright Mrs. Clinton was finally coming to grasp what was going on.
The national press corps had morphed into a troupe of Obama’s star struck groupies, smitten members of the Fourth Estate who proclaimed his divinity — “a sort of god standing above us.” (Evan Thomas, Newsweek) a lightworker”, a “genius,” and other similar declarations of apotheosis. The so-called “reporters” surrendered themselves to a man who was promising to “heal the planet” and proclaiming to his followers: “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” How could this vapid effusion from such a bloated ego not have been greeted with derision by sober or grown-up people, much less “professional” news people who are supposed to be critical and skeptical? In retrospect it is clear that by then, the “political journalists” in America had become like the celebrity chasers that cranked out puff pieces in rags like People Magazine. Detached political coverage had ceased to exist. The mainstream media was staffed by left-wing propaganda schizoids, leading the country down an insidious path toward a collective, self-inflicted lobotomy.
In retrospect: the 2008 campaign of Barack Obama was a huge paradox. On the one hand it was all about HIM, his brilliance, his charisma, his style, but at the same time he was nothing (NO THING) that could be defined or described in a substantive, empirical way. The unprecedented strategy by Obama’s fantasist-managers was not to expose him – his personal history, beliefs, or accomplishments – to the electorate but to conceal him. His complete lack of executive experience, scholarly, intellectual depth and legislative accomplishment turned out to be an advantage, a useful nothingness that let him be an alluring mirage, completely protean, a wholesome, earnest, moderate, “pragmatist” who could charm the independent voters disillusioned by the Chaney-Bush debacle. But at the same time, it let him play the role of a cerebral “activist,” radical enough to enthrall the elite leftwing stalwarts and the Hollywood limo-set of his party who loathed those Neanderthals who drove pickup trucks, went to church and lived in awful places like Texas, North Dakota and rural Indiana. The foundation of Obama’s “genius” was said to rest on his inspirational, eloquent oratory. But the more he talked, the less he said, and what he did say was commonplace and banal. A sample: “If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress.” Wisdom for the ages.
The Obama campaign was all about The Obama who could be everything to everybody. “Hope and Change”, as vacuous as it was cynical, was an anodyne for the largely apolitical middle-America to convince them that Barack Obama was a wholesome, earnest “change-agent” far above politics as usual. Once in office Obama surrounded himself with sycophant Hollywood celebrities, and to protect his thin skin and swollen ego his handlers usually put him in venues fully orchestrated where to the amusement of his adulators, he dispensed his sarcasms and insulted his critics.
He had appeared at the right time and right place with a deal – white redemption, guilt no more. “He can be President and we can finally be done with racism,” seemed to be the barely sublimated motif. Obama was not selling his experience – he had none. He was not selling his ideological convictions – he hid them. He could not sell his integrity and character – they were compromised and questionable. He was selling himself as a nice, well-intentioned, well-spoken, well-educated black man possessed of unique, transcendent qualities of personality who would be a President like no other. Doing that required a carefully honed message empty of content, wildly bold and grandiose, yet anodyne and non-threatening. It necessitated that he dissimulate his past dodgy associations with the unseemly likes of Pastor Jeremiah Wright and Pentagon bomber, Bill Ayers, a past inconsistent with the wholesome, “we’re all in it together” change agent image that David Axelrod had helped him craft. His youth, GQ style with the “perfectly creased pant” was what impressed New York Times pundit, David Brooks. The cool and confident Obama stood beside the whinny, unlikeable Hillary Clinton waddling around in her pant suit, incapable of saying anything not carefully massaged by pollsters, focus groups and her handlers. “You’re likable enough, Hillary,” Obama sarcastically baited her during one of their primary debates.
Obama’s assent to power was neither a fluke nor an accident. His election in retrospect was horrifyingly inevitable, a consequence of the cultural triumph of the soft Marxism that had been seeping into the corners of America for decades. By 2008 America’s dominant culture-shaping institutions – the schools and universities, the popular culture and entertainment complex, the main stream media and the news syndicates – were solidly left-wing propaganda outlets that: (a) peddled multiculturalism as the wave of the future we should all be embracing, and (b) relentlessly promulgated the message of moral blackmail that made white America permanent hostage to the guilt of slavery and segregation. “Racism” now permeated every crevice of American society. Protean and ubiquitous it could be direct, indirect, overt, covert, systemic, institutional and only practiced by white people.
In 1973 “micro-inequities” were “discovered” by a Ph.D. from MIT, defined as “as “apparently small events which are often ephemeral and hard-to-prove, events which are covert, often unintentional, frequently unrecognized by the perpetrator, which occur wherever people are perceived to be different.” Here was the fons et origo of those pseudo “social-science” talking points that would be taken up and amplified by the charlatans running the racket that that we all know today as Diversity Inclusion Equity. Almost every word in this definition – “hard to prove,” “unintentional,” “unrecognized,” “perpetrator” – coalesced to give the scolds from the diversity offices an inquisitorial carte blanche to terrorize workplaces and collect high salaries in their fake jobs.
To the extent that Obama was anything other than a talented, ambitious hustler, his autobiography shows him to be a self-absorbed self-pitying young man, full of racial resentment with no detectable appreciation or affinity for anything distinctively or uniquely American. Anyone who had carefully read Dreams from My Father would conclude that Obama was a communist. In that work he cited his life’s influences, both personal and intellectual: Frank Marshall Davis, “Marxist professors,” and “Frantz Fanon.” Just what kind of a communist Obama was, it is hard to say since his much-vaunted intellectualism was an inch deep and his Marxism was a cobbled-together version he took from his college and professional associations. But by 2008, that Obama was a communist was of little concern to the electorate.
Obama’s influences and associations were all brought up by his critics and opponents during the campaign but the revelations made no impact. Why? The decline of American public education, perhaps? A sizeable swath of the electorate, if asked, would probably have guessed that Karl Marx was one of Groucho’s brothers. The youth who voted overwhelmingly for The One would have thought that if Obama was a communist, then communism must be “cool.”
In retrospect, to put Obama, the talented, ambitious hustler in a context that explains his quick rise to power, one cannot avoid mention of Obama’s political milieu; it was Chicago and the mafia-like maneuvering that the powerful “crime families” there engaged in to place those most useful to them in high political offices. Obama would make himself highly useful to the Pritzker clan and the quid pro quo that came out of the relationship put Penny Pritzker, one of the richest women in America in Obama’s cabinet as Secretary of Commerce.
From the UNZ Review:
The Pritzker family, heirs to the Hyatt Hotel, today use their estimated $29 billion dollar fortune to speculate on the stock market, dodge taxes, buy politicians, and rip people off with predatory banking schemes. The Jewish clan has made capitalist-activism, where money wrung out of working class people is used to pay for the pet projects of the anti-social left, central to their plan to radically re-engineer America.
The Pritzkers funneled 800 million dollars to Obama’s campaign and inaugural funds and were rewarded by Obama’s government. It looked the other way as Penny used her role as Cabinet Secretary position to cheat the estate’s tax system out of tens of millions of dollars owed by her family. Penny was also able to funnel R&D grants to big Pharma for research on biopharmaceuticals.
In addition to the Commerce cabinet position, the family chaired major campaigns, got control of the Chicago school system and the Olympic games. The grossly obese Illinois Governor, J.B. Pritzker, sometimes touted as a Democrat Presidential candidate is the chairman of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center.
Transgenderism was a Pritzker priority. Penny’s cousin, Jennifer Pritzker is a male-to-female transgender. “She” has donated millions of dollars to the University of Minnesota Medical Department’s Human Sexuality, the “Pritzker School of Medicine” at the University of Chicago, and a “Transgender Studies” chair, handpicked by Pritzker, at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.
Jennifer’s cousin, J.B., the Illinois governor, has done his part to advance the agenda of transgenderism.
From the UNZ Review:
Governor Pritzker has also signed an executive order giving transgender and “non-binary” students special privileges in school, along with free access to an arsenal of lawyers that effectively controls the direction of sexual education and erases the First Amendment rights of fellow students.
Which brings us back to the “we are five days away from fundamentally transformating the United States of America” that Obama crowed about in late October 2008. Of all those “white folks” yelling “hip-hip-hooray” and planning to pull the lever for The One most had no inkling of how “fundamental” that “transformation” would be for them a few years down the road. How many of them genuinely wanted their country to be transformed? And into what? How many of them would have guessed that the reality of biology would be transformed into the fantasy of “chose the gender you want to be” pushed on their children by leftist ideologues? How many could have imagined that black career-criminality in the person of George Floyd could be transformed into martyred sainthood while the cities were consumed by riots?
Obama’s transformation plan that included eight years of scolding white folks was “to be continued” by the devious duo known as the Clintons. Their life work was devoted to proving that you can “fool all the people all of the time.” Or at least enough of them as not to derail the Corruption Express that they always drove at top speed wherever they went and running over whoever got in their way. HRC and her consort, the retired Arkansas Elvis, had spent the four years prior to the 2016 Presidential election giving speeches to Saudi princes, Wall Street bankers and Central Asian dictators and laundering tens of millions of dollars to their “charitable” foundation. Scare quotes are required for that word, since one would be challenged to discover a single, solitary act of real charity that could ever be attributed to these avatars of avarice and ambition. These millions were clearly given as the quid pro quo for favors to be bestowed when, as they expected, Hillary stepped into the White House.
The Orange Man foiled the power handoff to Hillary, and so America had to wait four years for Obama to foist his former VP, a fifty-year resume of bottom feeding in the DC Swamp waters, on the American people. With his hair plugs, dementia and his coke-head son in tow, Obama gave us the complete package of mendacity, malfeasance and malevolence.
With Joe Robinette, Obama’s “fundamentally transforming” America went on steroids. The Biden junta declared war on white America, threw the gates of the southern border wide open and flooded America’s small towns and big cities with millions of black and brown people from the third world and then subsidized them with American tax dollars. The anguished reaction of white Americans was used to smear them as bigots and to declare “white supremacy” as the greatest threat to American democracy. Biden tried to lock up his chief political opponent, and sent hundreds of millions of dollars to the most corrupt county in Europe leaving Americans struck by natural disasters with nothing. Transgenderism as a heroic civil rights struggle, drag queens as models for children, de-policing black communities, decriminalizing theft and shoplifting, the cities awash in crime – this was Obama’s transformation of America, his repayment for the trust the voters placed in him when he was calling himself, The One.
Black History Month is upon us, and a fitting time for some answers to the question: who was Obama? One answer to contemplate: Obama was America’s Robert Mugabe.
We’re going to punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends.

We needed Obama to motivate Trump.
No Jihadist Obama means no President Trump.
Oh Hillary. Her great ambition, the first PantSuit President, derailed the The One. In some bargain, it was hers and hers alone in 2016. Then the Garbage Man robbed her of her precious – and her looters and suiters of theirs. Funny thing about those sixties that crafted Billary. It was the Pritzker-ilk high-lowing blacks and they road that wave as it crested in 2008. I think of Bill in the 90s running around telling Whites to be prepared for dispossession and telling their children at University that their coming minority status was going to be a nirvana. The shake joints, drum circles and arm pit hair still spinning in Billary’s head. Shafted by the American Mugabe and an Illinois crime family did they learn that the fire they played with in the 60s was burning them and their homeland to ashes?
No. To get at that ring and pay back those bribes from the “charitable” foundation they stayed on the Mugabe Express until the current stop.
It would be a fitting bit of karma except it is we who are left to try and derail that rampaging train, that may be down but isn’t out. Who was Obama? Well, he is like Biden to Mayorkas. He is Obama to Pritzker. He is a mask who gets to let his hatred and avarice loose for kicks while those who really conduct the rampaging train get a free pass.
It’s funny how the left calls Trump supporters cultists. To this day the Obama cult see no evil behind the man. I guess retrospect is a new concept to them.
We can thank George W. Stupid for Obama. Yes, it is that simple.
But George and Cheney are still the spiritual leaders of the fast dwindling Never Trumpers wing of the War Hawk party. They will never learn that Winning counts with the American voters.
That Pritzker business just warms my heart. It’s all kinds of special.
I was watching Air Force One the other day. Meh movie, but Gary Oldman stole the show as usual. The young girl was liesel pritzker.
