Richard Hanania’s The Origins of Woke is Christopher Caldwell’s excellent book, The Age of Entitlement, but in a less sober and more opinionated tone, and with more speculation on what’s to be done about the predicament. While both books get the point across, Hanania’s trying to get several other points across that distract from the central thesis: Our legal system contains a civil rights ratcheting mechanism that requires all corporations and organizations to promote a “Leftist” (anti-Christian, anti-white, anti-male, anti-straight) political agenda. I opened my Yahoo! Mail account, and once more, there it was at the top of my page: “Help Bless Impoverished Jews With Your Gift Now. Bless Israel and suffering Jews in need . . .” This has been appearing a lot lately. Was it because I haven’t purged my browser’s cookies in ages? I remember seeing this site pop up in June of 2022 as well: the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ). (more…)

The following was originally published in Polish in July 2023 in the Do Rzeczy weekly magazine. This translation was published at the English-language Polish conservative site Sovereignty.pl.
In 2002, Vladimir Putin was asked in an interview how the Russia he rules differs from the Soviet Union of Stalin’s time. The questioner’s intention was obviously to show that the times of bloody dictatorship in Russia were past, and that its present and future were times of freedom and democracy. In a conversation with the same reporter in 1991, Putin had warned with a sad face of a possible “return to totalitarianism.” 11 years later, when he had become the country’s President, he again put on a sad face, albeit for a completely different reason. The French-language news portal Breizh-Info has published a long interview in French with Hungarian Member of Parliament László Toroczkai, who is the leader of the opposition nationalist parliamentary group Mi Hazánk Mozgalom. The following is an English translation.

George Friedman
The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century
New York: Anchor Books, 2009George Friedman’s The Next 100 Years is an intriguing forecast of how the twenty-first century will play out. Friedman gets a lot of things wrong, but there is nevertheless a method to his analysis, and we have much to learn from what the broader center-Left, of which Friedman is a part, gets right. It’s also interesting because glowing reviews in the mainstream media suggests that the book has been guiding the establishment’s thinking, and thus explains some of their odd decisions. (more…)

As of May 9, 2023, the Ukrainian military controls less than 2% of Bakhmut. It is only a matter of time before the city is entirely in Russian hands, barring a miraculous Ukrainian counterattack which turns out to be wildly successful. Reports of minor counterattacks are mostly hype. (more…)
