During a recent conversation with the influencer Richard Hanania, Jared Taylor of American Renaissance made some disparaging comments about white West Virginians. Hanania, who claims Palestinian descent, was baiting Taylor, a white nationalist, about why he doesn’t just move to West Virginia, which is one of the whitest states (92.8%) in the US but also one of the poorest. Taylor took the bait:
Taylor: West Virginia is a strange problem. It is full of white people but some of the lowest grade white people I believe I’ve ever seen in my life.
Hanania: Oh, you’re going to get in trouble.
Taylor: I don’t disagree. We are not all superior human capital. And I remember I spent a couple of days in the capital of West Virginia…Charleston, West Virginia. And after walking around for awhile I thought to myself, ‘Boy, there must be a city ordinance that says in order to live in this city you have to be fat and have a tattoo and smoke cigarettes.
Hanania erupts in rapturous laughter.
Taylor: In all human groups, whites are on a bell curve and somehow those at one unfortunate end of the bell curve seem to have ended up in West Virginia. These are still my brothers and sisters and I want to bring them along in the most useful way possible.I want them to be the best white people they can possibly be but West Virginia is not where the best ones are.
Many of the brightest white identitarians in the country live in West Virginia. Peter and Lydia Brimelow live in Berkeley Springs. Warren Balogh and Emily Youcis live here. And I just recently moved to within an hour of the Charleston area Taylor is talking about. I’m not a carpetbagger either. Some of my English ancestors settled in the hills of West Virginia, before 1776 even. My maternal grandmother went to school in a one room building in the hollers of this state. She was one of the brightest women in my family and what intelligence I have must have come substantially from her.

This is not an anomaly. While West Virginia may not have the highest average IQ in the country, at 98.7, it is only 3.2 points off from Virginia where Taylor and I have both lived throughout most of the 21st century. The highest average IQ in the country is apparently Massachusetts at 104.3. That’s not a huge spread especially considering that West Virginia is above the United States’ average IQ of 97.43. It is certainly an overstatement to claim they are the “lowest grade white people.”
The whole conversation smacks of “IQ Nationalism” where all that matters is raw intelligence. Before I moved to West Virginia I lived in Northern Virginia, near Taylor. While it is true that some of the wealthiest, most physically fit whites I have ever seen live there they are a distinct minority, existing mostly in highest concentration in suburban enclaves where the nonwhite majority is priced out. These are not proud white people but whites who have welcomed a foreign invasion. Entire blocks of neighborhoods are entirely populated by Central Americans, Africans, Arabs… you name it. I would often go into stores and be the only white person there. Which begs the question, how valuable is genius if its used to stab you in the back?
West Virginia has its good and bad elements like any other. There are very few blacks here but where they are concentrated in the cities, there is an unfortunate degree of race mixing. Yet, this element varies across the West from community to community. There was an unusual degree of it in my hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, a wealthy liberal city. True, many of the youth in the most urban environments of West Virginia are not physically fit and have a lot of weird piercings. I chalk this up to the fact they are trying to rebel from an identity which has been slandered and shamed. The exact kind of comments Hanania and Taylor made reflect a common stereotype of white West Virginians: that they are low class, white trash and stupid. It’s only natural that people would run from that identity.
However, the vast majority of West Virginians are race-loyal and conservative. Support for mass deportations is 93% in West Virginia. That’s 12 percentage points higher than the runner up, Mississippi. 70.1% of West Virginians voted for Donald Trump over Kamala Harris. That is second only to Wyoming at 72.3%.

Poor whites are not just some retarded cousins we should take pity on. The people of Appalachia have been left behind culturally and economically by their own government. They have been exploited by vultures like the Sackler family, whose intentionally addictive Oxycontin pills absolutely ravaged an already destitute population. Instead of hope, they received a narcotic to numb away the hopelessness.
When I lived in the Northern Virginia-Washington D.C. area I saw the discrepancy in how my government treats a majority black population. They are appointed to six figure jobs basically pushing paper while padding DEI numbers. Like everywhere in the country, they are welcomed into universities in astounding numbers, even when their test scores are much lower than white applicants. The result of this significant, disproportional investment in a community of black “human capital” is that they are driving the nicest cars, dining at the finest restaurants and have a level of social status denied to most white Appalachians.
Yet, the same could be done here. I wager that in a Trading Places scenario, West Virginians treated to the same rise in educational and financial attainment as blacks in Washington D.C. would see remarkably higher improvements in culture and sophistication. Their IQs would go up and their BMIs would go down as their budgets allowed for greater nutrition and gym memberships.
This is the program that white identitarians should be offering to our brothers and sisters of all economic backgrounds. It took thousands of years for humans to evolve into distinct races and it is preposterous to believe West Virginians vary genetically in any significant way from other white Americans. The infliction of these stereotypes are grounded in class bigotry and subconscious antiwhite attitudes that can inflict even even dedicated white partisans.
Since I began speaking out about this issue on social media I have received a lot of support. However, I have also received a shocking number of comments saying, “Jared is right” reinforced by the fact Jared himself has deflected on the issue rather than issuing an apology and retraction. The raw IQ numbers, not that that is everything, show that this is nothing but a bigoted assumption people have internalized about West Virginians. So far, I love living in this state. I moved here for exactly the reason that Hanania suggested and I would recommend others do the same. The home prices are low, the people are friendly, and I don’t feel like a foreigner in my own country for the first time in my adult life.

My basic assessment is that it was an unwise thing to say. But maybe what Jared said will appeal to some other White demographics in the USA who feel the same way about WV.
Either way, Jared Taylor is still one of the greatest White advocates in the world.

Let me add to the chorus of “Jared is right.” He’s spent decades speaking the truth without ever apologizing. No one who has been to WV can deny that there is a serious population quality problem there. I appreciate his frankness, and I wouldn’t want one of the last few honest and candid men in the world to start mincing his words for fear of offending people. It’s outrageous for a man who wrote a book titled The Death of Free Speech to make a leftist-style demand for an apology, especially over a statement that is true!
Taylor is indeed a uniquely talented communicator and advocate. Nothing that he said here changes that.

Yeah,Taylor is not the best on the JQ: he basically uses the same trick as the media, that being classify Jews who do things he doesn’t like (in his case leading anti-white crusades) as white while–and then scratches his head as to why they would hate “their own kind” so much–touting the Jewishness of Jews who seem pro white; hence, Noel “Race Traitor” Ignatiev is “white” while Eric Zemmour is Jewish.

Good point, and he also spoke in degrading terms of Indians recently. I don’t want to see America overrun by Indian H1B visas any more than any of you do, but to me Indians for the most part seem to be wonderful people. Of course I’ve known some jerks or problem cases, but they’re bad eggs inevery barrel. I’m a little perplexed at this spate of anti Indian demagoguery to suddenly come out of the right. When we speak ill of people I like to think it’s for demonstrable reasons and not “hate.”
Oh man, DP, you are way off rez on this comment. There are good and bad among all peoples, but some groups are better (not just “different and unique”, but objectively better) than others. The Hindus we’ve needlessly imported tend to be among the very best India has to offer (not “best” morally, but cognitively). That’s an artifact of our weird, “democratic” immigration policy (“democratic” in the sense of its being the result of the endless special interest pleading and legislative horse-trading that is characteristic of one moron, one vote democracies (especially multiethnic ones, wherein the original demos has been radically diluted)). But Hindus in general are not good people, and we certainly DO NOT WANT them brought (in their billions) here (or elsewhere in the white homelands that comprise the West).
No, if you read what I said, I don’t want them in white countries, nor any other foreign group. I think most of the problems in India actually stem from overpopulation. There’s a billion people crammed into that little country. When populations get that dense and competitive, human life and the gentler concerns of humanity get very cheap. All these places, Mexico, Central America, Dominican republic and the Caribbean, they’re all uncomfortably overpopulated. We don’t want that to happen here! These places are essentially decompressing into the rich and relatively unpopulated white countries. Moreover, to varying degrees their human capital is a lot lower than ours.
My point was the odd contrast in Taylor’s tone on whites and Indians versus that other group. ( it’s rhetorical of course, the answer is likely same as anyone, fear.)
Also this sudden anti Indian demagoguery seems top down. I suspect it’s an effort to shift discourse away from Gaza, especially on Twitter. (Which content creators like bc it’s less risky, ref part 2 above)
I’d count Taylor’s comment as a ‘gaffe’. There’s too much being made of it and this crowd is quick to poke out the eyes of allies.
It never ceases to amaze me that the ‘good immigrants’ from Asia and India are way more racist than westerners. India still has remnants of a caste system. Nonetheless, an all white society would also self segregate into its own caste system of elites and non-elites. The progressive model is to import cheap labor so as to enable the past generation of elites to hold onto their position. The big question is which brand of economists are correct. Is this a giant Ponzi scheme of cheap labor that will collapse? Or is it the fuel for innovation and being #1 in a number of indices that allow the machine to continue to run.

I had a lot of experience with Indians in the Washington D.C. area. They pile into a house with all their extended family like Africans do. They are horrible tippers and treat blue collar workers contemptuously.

I see N. American tipping as a signal that you understand the obligations of the served to honour the servant as a fellow American (created equal?). Not many non-Americans get this, egalitarian Australians included, until the pay structure of service jobs in the US is explained to them

It’s not overpopulation, it’s that the average Indian is barely sentient & they have a terrible low trust society. There are quite a few high-functioning societies with a higher population density than India. Hong Kong, Singapore, Monaco, & South Korea being some examples.
The Indians in the West are typically from the middle & upper classes, so that’s why they’re more well put together, but I’d also suggest that it’s very easy to be nice when you’re getting access to another people’s civilisation & wealth & get to run away from the mess you’ve left back in your own homeland. It’s a surface-level kindness, they can’t believe their luck that you’re essentially just giving up your civilisation & the labour & living conditions that your ancestors bled & died for to them.
It’s like being a good sportsman when you win, it doesn’t mean much, it’s how you react when you lose. If India was a desired destination & millions of White people started squatting in India, you think these very same people would be nice to you as a White person? And don’t forget just how nepotistic they are, which is very dangerous for individualistic Whites as they flood our territories; but it will at least help White people return to a more collectivist mindset.

I actually was lucky enough to see video of the single moment that Jared actually mentioned “Jews” years back, at a video-recorded public speaking engagement. He very briefly stated, something to the effect of “I never discuss Jews because I don’t really notice any differences of substance between Jews & Whites.”
Maybe his wife is of Jewish descent.
Let me join you in that chorus. I was in Winchester, Virginia (very close to WV) a few years ago and honestly thought the same regarding many of the whites there. That doesn’t mean they are not my people or that I choose others over them.
Jared Taylor has been our best spokesman for many years now and has paid a high price for speaking up for our people. Perhaps we cut him a little slack here.
I don’t see that Taylor’s paid any price at all. He still seems to live well and comfortably in the home he’s lived in for decades. Other people who have suffered more would also be held account for snobbish comments like those made by Taylor. The Romans confronted this problems of ‘excusing current crimes because of past contributions’ and decided that it was a bad idea.
Part of the problem is that someone who was being genuine was talking to someone who was being disingenuous. The weird smirk on Hanania’s face during their discussion said it all.
Hanania’s orgasmic delight at goading a celebrated white advocate into bashing white people reveals a deeply sinister ethnic animus.
And that sinister animus is written all over his face.

I think that Hanania’s delight is what most people are reacting to. Jared’s statements are perfectly defensible. But Hanania’s delight is obscene. So direct your ire at Hanania, not Jared.
I went to college in West Virginia and hope to move back there permanently at some point. Nothing but good things to say about the Mountain State.
Charleston is an absolutely picturesque city that everyone should visit. The Capitol building complex there is beautiful, and features not only the Stonewall Jackson statue pictured above, but also one of the heroic Senator Robert C. Byrd.
Taylor is not wrong about many West Virginians being overweight, but like Jason said, that’s mainly due to diet and poverty, not genetics. WV does lose a lot of its college graduates to other states because there aren’t a ton of job opportunities in much of the state. I’m sure this has lowered the mean IQ somewhat, but it’s not like the Mountain State is some third world country. The economy used to be dominated by “King Coal”, but mining isn’t the cheapest way to get electricity anymore. Southeast WV especially is bleeding population.
82K people voted in the WV gubernatorial election in 2024, which I’m sure is smaller than the number of White Nationalists in the United States. If enough of us move to the Appalachian volkstaat, we can elect Emily Youcis governor if we so choose. The day the statue of the tyrant Abraham Lincoln is taken down from the steps of the Charleston Capitol and replaced with one of Alfred Alfer will be a glorious one indeed!
Poverty causes a lot of health problems related to weight:
1. No money for gym memberships
2. Can’t afford high quality food
3.Over-eating to self-medicate feelings of despair

I agree with the general thrust of your article, insofar as I hate talking negatively about any whites (including even LGBTQs) unless they’re racial disloyalists, but this list is unserious.
You think you need a gym membership to keep trim? Seriously? Obesity is largely a function of diet (incl. alcohol, which isn’t cheap), not exercise. Walking is all one needs for exercise, and pushups, or modest calisthenics for the elderly, can be done anywhere (I do have a gym membership, which I rarely use, and which incidentally costs $15 per month for life). Eating healthily, moreover, is often substantially cheaper than eating junk. Literally yesterday, my local supermarket, located in one of the most expensive areas of the US, was selling tinned sardines, which are very healthy, for $.89; as I eat sardines once per week, usually with a salad or some fruit, I purchased about 50 tins. I purchased an 18oz container of blueberries, which I eat every day, for $5.40; apples were on sale for $1 lb., bananas $.80lb., deals, deals, etc.
I can understand overeating due to despair, and have sometimes done that myself (esp. when feeling hopeless about my race’s future, to whose preservation I devoted so much of my life). But still, isn’t that a function of character, too?
There is no doubt that the upper class (of all races) is thinner than the lower classes of all races. Why is that? I suspect that genetics plays a role. Fat people do worse in life due to stigma and unattractiveness, and this obesity-based genetic class stratification has been going on for several generations in the US: already in high school in the 70s I was noticing that the richer girls tended also to be prettier, and not due to plastic surgery or more expensive makeup.
But one also notices that the upper classes place a much higher value on their appearance than the lower classes do. I know and have known many rich people, and the mothers (and now the wives) of friends were/are always dieting, exercising, and generally obsessing about fat.
Taylor probably is at least somewhat correct in his caustic observations. Still, prowhites should always keep their focus on criticizing nonwhites, and the diversitist traitors in our ranks, while quietly and positively encouraging our own people to be the best they can be. I admire West Virginia, and am considering retiring there in a few years as well (though I do have a lengthy list of other possibilities).
I’ll echo much of this. WVA is also thought of as a vacation destination to get exercise in the beauty of the mountains. A few centuries ago, looking a little ‘Rubenesque’ was associated with the aristocracy, who were more well fed than emaciated peasants.
Bascom Lamar Lunsford did much to preserve Appalachian and hillbilly culture (and an influence on Alan Lomax, Harry Smith and Bob Dylan). At the same time, he deliberately represented himself in neat clothing to avoid entrenched stereotypes about hillbillies. This is a lost concept, but in part because the progressive media love to highlight anyone white who looks backward and ‘can’t speak no properly’ for the camera.
Also just the quality of food available now, sedentary modern lifestyle, & liberal individualist identity decay that results in tattoos is to blame here. Their physical bodies are a reflection of the greater cultural & spiritual rot.
Poor ‘low IQ’ White people only 50 – 70 years ago were thin, without tattoos, & well-dressed in public.
And this is why I’m a National Socialist or ‘active nationalist’. The entire culture needs to change & it starts with raising a strong, healthy, disciplined, & connected youth.
The “Elite Human Capital” mindset also ignores that you need class & IQ variation to have successful civilisation. You’re telling me that all this self-proclaimed “Elite Human Capital” are going to do all the hard labour required to sustain civilisation when they’re too busy looking at themselves in the mirror?

I live an hour from there. Happened before I moved here, but Charleston went hard into Covid-mania. Almost all the businesses there are independent so the result was widespread closure of lots of stuff. Downtown verges on a ghost town. Huntington is doing better.
Very disappointed in these attacks on Jared Taylor. Especially when he said the following:

I agree that too much is made of a few points difference in IQ averages. It’s less about test scores and food deserts than an insular culture. Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana are pretty much as obese as WVA. The remote roads and hollers of WVA have preserved its whiteness, but also made it a challenge to bring change for the good.
There are no easy answers here and plenty of white cities elsewhere have a rough white neighborhood with drug and crime issues. The drug and food desert explanation is also used by black communities. Some see the Sacklers as an easy explanation for opioid epidemic (even though all the major drug companies were selling their own brand of opioid). The black community had their own easy explanation, blaming the crack epidemic on the CIA. The poor folks of WVA become an inconvenient exception when certain types boast about whites having better test scores and lower crime rates than others. But the modern media tends to give Appalachia short shrift in the compassion realm compared to what they dole out to immigrants and minorities. Simply look at the limited outrage for the response to Hurricane Helene.

Could you give some contemporary examples in the US? This was true as recently as the 1970s and 80s, but I doubt it now. Lower class whites are not urban in the US anymore.

There are fewer urban white ghettoes, but not fewer lower class whites in urban areas. The communities exist as pockets, not entire sections of town. It’s more decentralized, because it isn’t a result of self segregation like the black communities.
You’re not going to see the kinds of urban white ghettoes that existed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but there are still significant poor white urban communities all over the US. Everywhere.
There are poor, crime ridden white areas that are known to progressives, but not as many as for black or immigrant communities. Progressives see it as a “disparity” issue. The opioid crisis among whites is not limited to Appalachia. When I mean city, I’m generalizing to include towns and white areas of bigger cities… Even Salt Lake City is only 65% white. Find an area where there used to be a thriving steel mill or coal mine and you will find poor whites.
The dilapidated Brightmoor neighborhood in Detroit (film site of Barbarian) is one of the whitest Detroit areas (30%), with some blocks apparently 2/3 white.
In Philadelphia, there are 22 majority white neighborhoods (note: not supermajority) where white poverty has risen.

The poorest and trashiest white areas are nothing like the nonwhite inner cities in terms of violent crime. They are only slightly higher in crime rate to more affluent white areas, mostly secondary to poverty issues. There’s no white area where you would fear for your life just walking through, like (almost all)nonwhite inner cities.
There are poor white areas – even ones that have drug problems – but they tend not to have much violent crime.
Source? West Virginia (93% white) has a higher murder rate than California, NY, Minnesota (76% white, home of George Floyd), and New Jersey (55% white, location of Newark). Speaking from experience, if you don’t carry yourself like a fool, you can walk through a rough black or white neighborhood without getting pounced upon. Your odds worsen the longer you stay, such as choosing to live there. There is much to love about the land and people of WVA and many cannot easily choose to leave. But I don’t see many easy fixes other than gentrification (making it a resort type state) or creating new industries, both a challenge as the terrain is relatively inaccessible (~75% mountainous).

Just some random speculation here, but I’ve always wondered if signaling against poor whites like that isn’t a part of the secret desire a lot of far right folks have to finally be a part of the cool kids club and say something popular/fashionable/uncontroversial, as opposed to always going against the grain. After spending a large portion of their lives feeling like complete pariahs they finally have a chance to get some “atta boys” from the establishment or power structure they’ve been fighting for so long. And looking down on poor or working class whites is pretty much the path of least resistance when it comes to any public displays of snobbery. I will admit, though, I am surprised to see it coming from someone as awesome and formidable as Jared Taylor.
I’ve never lived in or been to West Virginia but I have lived in various places in East Tennessee and met some perfectly brilliant and articulate natives. Very rarely have I encountered the buck-toothed and barefoot cliche that seems to be ubiquitous in the wet dreams of every urban Jew.

I would say Steve sailer, Charles Murray, and their ilk are “iq people.” Taylor is about whiteness, but the only thing that irks people is his refusal to take a hostile position on the jq, about which there are varied and sundry theories. I think that it’s useful to have many different positions and approaches. There are levels of discovery in this.
I frequently see this take that saying Appalachia needs help is the equivalent of ‘mo money fo dem programz.’ When blacks say that, the problem is not that funding social welfare programs is inherently bad, it’s that blacks are already given every advantage by the federal government.
Moreover, this is not an issue of lack of programs benefitting poor whites. The problem is government policies in this country are deliberately engineered to harm these people. Many of the communities throughout Appalachia that are now hells were once respectable working class towns before all the factories shut down to move abroad, the remaining jobs were supplanted with mestizo and coolie slave labor, the coal mines withered under anti-‘Climate Change’ policies, and government-backed pharmaceutical companies deliberately and explicitly (per Purdue Pharma’s court-released emails) targeted them for opioid distribution.

Recall that in 2015 the National Review wrote of Trump supporting Appalachians “the truth about these communities is that they deserve to die.” This has been an absolutely disastrous policy for the establishment, one of the main reasons that white people’s faith in the system eroded to such an extent that they thrice elected Trump in protest. It would be incredibly foolish for white nationalists to similarly alienate the group most receptive to our ideas, and even more foolish to do so in the name of sociopathic, hypercapitalist, basic bitch Conservative talking points.

Hear hear. I suspect a lot of them know it’s the black population that bring those numbers down but they also know they can’t say that and remain respectable, so pissing all over poor whites serves as a convenient and fashionable explanation.
Another factor to keep in mind is that many poor Whites are the descendants of a people the U.S. government will never completely forgive: Southern ers. Something that my Southern-born parents firmly believed is that Southern Whites will forever be punished for the Civil War. So-called Reconstruction did all it could to wreck the South’s native human capital, and that stigmitization continues on a low-key level, even today. The ignorant Southern hillbilly trope is baked into the American narrative.
Both of my parents grew up in a Depression-era Appalachian farming community. They experienced a level of poverty unimaginable today, and it marked them for life. My father moved “up North” to work in a factory, lacking even a high school diploma and achieved great success after decades of hard work, sacrifice, and constantly seeking to attain more education, and acquire ever more advanced skills. (And yes, I am very well aware of all the factors that has made this impossible for young White men today.)
Those people who never left that area? On the surface, they are much as described by the Jared Taylor comment. This, however, is a fact: they are the most racially loyal, family-centered, generous and kind-hearted people I have ever encountered. I have lived in Chicago, Nashville, Boise, and many other places. Attractive, fit, intelligent, even glamorous White people are definitely concentrated in larger cities. What good are they, though, for our racial survival when so many of them consider being White a source of embarrassment, or even shame, and strive to be “post-racial”?

I’m not a fan of the “Jews targeted White Trash with opioids” argument, but I do think that many elites and officials have tended to believe that it is cheaper to provide drugs for unemployed and underemployed Whites than it is to provide decent healthcare.
I support our own people calling out White Trash. The junkie who ran me over in the crosswalk at the University was actually White.
It is up to us to correct the errancy of our own people ─ which includes calling out as degenerate the kids getting their f’ing tattoos. I’m a firm believer in “broken windows law enforcement.” Our people can do better. We have to mentor our own better too.

These communities don’t need to “whither and die on the vine” or be pruned somehow, but some of them do need to change fundamentally.
West Virginia has never been gifted with prosperous agriculture. Rockefeller Coal was only game in town and it is always in boom or bust mode.
Many of my family come from a long line of miners, Scots, English and Welsh, though all went out West by the end of the Civil War. And yes, I do have a Confederate ancestor who starved to death in a Union PoW camp. These people right down to my own Grandfather, who had an eighth-grade education, were always looking for the mother load but they never struck it rich.
My Dad was born in a small agricultural town named Fruita on the Colorado River on the Western slope of the Rockies. Previous to tourist-focused gentrification it was good at producing poor White Trash. Billie Eilish’s mother is from there, LOL.
Anyway, he changed majors in college from Mining Engineering and went into Mathematicss and Statitistics instead, and was employed in Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering after Sputnik, and never looked back.
In any case, King Coal is simply a poison and it has to end. We can generate clean electricity from nuclear reactors without CO2 and stop mercury pollution in the oceans from burning coal.
Some serious investment needs to pour into the state of West Virginia to create robust infrastructure and to retrain these people for modern work, including information technologies. When families are economically secure the ancestral roots run deep and they thrive.
Raising the prosperity of the workers will make it easier for spin-off industries and small business to flourish in the mountain state as well. White Community is crucial.
Politicians have often gone to West Virginian bearing the loaves and fishes ─ from JFK standing on a child’s high chair to LBJ squatting on the porch of some hayseed’s rustic shack to launch the War on Poverty. These promises were seldom kept because politicians wanted their votes but they never needed their people.
We have to change that.
This development plan needs to be more comprehensive than just “dem programs.” Take the example of the Tennesee Valley Authority or the National Laboratories.
Goverment-sponsored dams enabled fertilizer and munitions plants to be built that used the cheap electrical power ─ and soon backwards places like Huntsville, Alabama became centers for things like the Army Ballistic Missile Agency that started the U.S. space program with German scientists like Wernher von Braun settling there after the war, and then the Marshall SpaceflightCenter.
So today Huntsville is a top-notch scientific center. Huntsville is, for example, the number 2 place for Amateur Radio conventions in the U.S. The number 1 is near Dayton, Ohio and centers around the aerospace industry near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. There are many such examples.
These kinds of economic development plans need not necessarily be focused on the military ─ that is just the easiest way to mobilize national efforts ─ but from our perspective, they do need to always celebrate White people and their potential.

I imagine Mr. T is one to choose his battles rather than try to appease everyone who may hold grudges. White identity first, way ahead of critiquing a segment of a segment of the population. When the JQ obsessed claim that Jews control everything, recall that that’s the same thing blacks say about whites. And what is our response? We earned it. Their counter response, no, it is a white cabal who controls everything keeping the black man down. As per Menken, for all of life’s complex problems there lies an explanation that is simple, straightforward, clear and totally wrong. Continued focus on the Jews just sets any white identity movement back decades. And in just a little over a year, the whole Israel-Palestinian war has brought about a thousand fold more protests on the topic.
More important is whether uniting white identity can occur if everyone wants to poke each other’s eye out in purity tests. Every racial identity has contended with their version of WVA, who rightly or wrongly get trashed. The rich want to get richer and the poor want to get richer by socialism. Nothing new under the sun.
WV has the same problem many urban areas have; food deserts and long commutes. And since no one knows how to cook anymore fast food becomes meal replacement.

This meas the data for certain states (such as California) will not reflect the IQ of the local White population because the results are being dragged down by Hispanics & other non-Whites. West Virginia, being very homogenous, should not have this issue. We can also compare overwhelmingly White West Virginia and North Dakota and see a noticeable difference, which implies Whites from the upper midwest have somewhat higher average IQs than Whites from WV.
2. I have a close friend who is a very high quality WN, in his 20s and married to a thoughtful & intelligent woman. They moved to Appalachia a couple years ago because they wanted to get out of the overwhelmingly Left leaning, heavily non-White suburb that they had moved to for college.
He grew up working on dairy farms in the Midwest and is the furthest thing from a snob, but has told me he’s frustrated with the local ‘hillbillies’ and didn’t believe the stereotypes until he moved there. I’ve visited him and I could understand what he was referring to. However, he still likes his new home more than his previous one.
My gf (she’s commented here occasionally and was a race realist before I met her, so not someone to uncritically accept narratives) has relatives who moved to eastern TN from upstate NY and she’s expressed similar views. It’s better than being a minority in a blue state suburb, but it has its own issues.
3. I don’t think anyone is saying that all Appalachians are low quality or disrespecting people who choose to make WV their home.
It’s distasteful to punch down on your own kind, especially when being goaded into it by a hostile ethnic alien. I look forward to seeing the positive transformation of the White working classes everywhere when a healthy White leadership and culture are established. I’ve been fat and had alcohol problems in the past and was probably the sort of person who many in the White Nationalist community would have wanted to sterilise. I fixed myself, though, with a lot of help from my new White-positive ideology. Once I decided that I was someone who deserved to thrive, I began to do just that. We should remember that being well-adjusted in a sick environment is not a sign of health.
Congratulations on your transformation. I find my racial identity to be a great source of positive inspiration likewise. Goodness only knows what I’d be up to if I were rootless.

Taylor’s achievement is taking something really mundane “prejudices are real” and repackaging it as something really offputting. Snobbish huwhite HBD.
One thing I will note from that IQ map is that while there may be differences among certain groups of whites, just look at the southern states, both east and west. It shows you what kryptonite even small percentages of blacks and Hispanics are to IQ average of the group. One has to look at the spread, not the absolute numbers because it’s a ratio scale for IQ. Keep in mind.
One phenomenon I’ve noticed about southern states like wv, Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama is that really intelligent white people can come out of low class and poor backgrounds.
In fact, I sort of disbelieve that average IQ score for West Virginia, as being so different from other white states. You have to have to look into these IQ measurements very carefully as to their methodology. It could be politically motivated. In fact, I looked at the ACT averages by state, you can find this online, and West Virginia tends to beat states that have comparable test rates and it’s not much less than those that are higher than it. That iq data is probably fallacious.
There is a book called, “Whitey On The Moon.” In it, the author talks about three extremely poor West Virginia boys who had a passion for rockets. The best of them lost his father when he was a boy, became the head of household, worked the mines to win the bread and pursued rocket experiments off hours. These three ended up working and playing essential roles in the rocket science that led to the moon landing. Hollywood of course ended up desecrating their achievement by making a movie where some invented black guy had the key insights from his time as a Tuskegee airman.
But I digress.
I think we should resurrect this story and hold it to the light. There is a lot in that that would be good for our cause. A huge thing is leadership. In an age where Whites have healthy institutions promoting spiritual health even poor West Virginians can perform like this. When you have a credentializing system that discourages this kind of free-spirited inquiry and inventiveness and where strivers and the ambitious leave the communities behind, well you no longer have your standard bearers. The best left and then to maintain status in the urban sickness centers they renounce their kind and where they came from. Of course, amongst them are the Paul Krugmans who they do not know harbors a deep desire to ensure that, “in the end what power they have is going to go away”, and that, “they are not the future.”
Another message we need to emphasize is that we have a myopic view of technology and of European man’s technological prowess. Our greatest technology is our social technology. Our spirited, soul embracing and yet systematic exploration of optimum social structures and our ethic to build them is the foundation to our technological achievement as well as our civilization’s social achievements. This discussion is begging for us to re-introduce this into the debate.
When we cultivated our foundational technology, Occidental spiritual, ethical and philosophical inquiry and application, we were healthy. When we asserted those norms other populations’ best aspired to learn Greek and Latin and do ballroom dancing and imitated our high culture. When we forfeited our most important technology they loot and burn and speak ever lower forms of pidgins and twerk … …
In the end I don’t care about them so long as they don’t harm my people. What we must do is point out the tragedy of this system that drains our communities of its standard bearers and then turns back around and spits upon and loots their home towns in service to nefarious actors. This same process is the same process now long underway with imperial sponsored replacement migration. Just as our once thriving communities that produced extremely resilient young men who worked coal mines as pre-teens to support their families and developed rockets at night that took men to the moon and satellites to space and lost their best, so too are the already struggling third world undergoing the same process.
This is a golden opportunity to seize the high ground and point out that this is all the symptom of an extremely sick and dysfunctional system created by a sick and dysfunctional pseudo-elite of low-borns who can never be a real elite. Our people suffer from many sicknesses. The worst of it are the strivers spitting on their ancestors and the towns they abandoned for credentials, affluence and status. Still, we do have our people who are in ill physical, mental and spiritual health. The ultimate sickness is individualism. A system where well dressed, well spoken well resourced people welcome the outsider and displace their own kind with them to signal that they have the ultimate moral authority is a system whose morality has been replaced with pure evil.
We have a real opportunity here to raise the level of the debate and talk about real leadership, the duties of real elites and the capabilities of a great people when they abandon their biospirit’s best technology in pursuit of soul less technological and financial achievement.
May we all return to our West Virginia’s and take up our duties in support of our folk. May we do it and do it quickly so these places remain ours. I fear Hanania and his backers have plans for West Virginia as the Wall St. Journal has been advocating for, and he got the fuel he needed to justify it going from 92.5% do 0 as fast as they can do it.

Experienced ethnic Russian nationalist Wolf Stoner recently praised Jared Taylor as the perfect voice to reach mainstream Whites — not those of us who are fully aware of the JQ, but newbies — entry level Whites who have a recent interest in the racial problems we face.

…Jews are neither fools nor invincible supermen. Both extremes of perception are counterproductive. Jews are the species with a particular set of characteristics. Their main strength is in our weaknesses; otherwise, they have hardly anything to put against the obvious advantages of White people.
Now, Jews started to repeat the same trick. They always act in the most impudent and audacious way, making any seemingly impossible move in a way as if it is something usual and normal; like they advanced the sexual revolution and LGBT agenda.

At the American Renaissance conference 2023 yet another Jewish woman gave a speech; Laura Loomer. Much younger and substantially less intelligent than Amy Wax. By the way, the process of mental decadence among Jews is not less pronounced than among the general population. Seems that they fall victim to the same downward trend that they were instrumental to put in motion. The younger Jews are much less bright and intelligent than their predecessors…
I’m unfamiliar with Wax and Loomer since I do not monitor AmRen like Wolf does. Be warned, Wolf’s words are intended only for serious White racial nationalists, not for mainstreamers new to the JQ. He continues:
[Jews] are never tormented with pangs of consciousness. They are always the best and always the first. They must always be at the top in anything. If a Jew enters a room he must take a chairman’s seat; or at least at the right hand of the chairman with a prospect of pushing him aside. It is the Jewish way everywhere and at any time.
Jews started infiltration of the White movements not from below but from the very top. It grants them obvious advantages but at the same time produces the opposite effect from what they want. Jews tend to overplay their hand. They are too presumptuous and too contemptuous to non-Jews. They imagine us as if we were the same peasants and workers of 1917.
Jewish attempts to push their way into White organizations and into the overall racial public discourse are sure to increase. The more this issue becomes relevant the more energetic will be those inroads.
In order to identify those attempts and to effectively oppose them, we need to remember the simple time-tested truth:
Don’t believe a Jew; whoever he is and whatever he speaks. Jew never speaks his mind; there is always some concealed intent. The very Jewish mentality is based on hatred of European identity. There can’t be any “common interests” between us and them. Any Jewish connection is a death sentence for a racial organization.
Jews always lie. Even if he speaks the truth about something, he does it with an intent of deceiving on some other, more relevant for him, issue. The ultimate goal of a Jew is our destruction; therefore, any cooperation with him is suicide. No Jews must ever be allowed into true White organizations.
The more racial awakening spreads in society and the more numerous becomes the White racial movement the more frequent will be cases when people with partial Jewish ancestry would like to join. If such people want to adhere to their White identity, they must start with full rejection of their Jewishness in order to be acceptable as simple members of White community. It would be utterly impudent on their part to claim any leadership role….
Sometime in the past year or year and a half, on a truly conservative Jewish blog that interviewed Amy Wax, she said, and this is a direct quote, “Jews have a lot to answer for in the decline of America and The West.” She talked in great detail about how Jews used blacks in the mid 20th century to steal the moral high ground from Whites and said in clear terms that they need to put a stop to it.
It is possible, that if it is true that Mr. Taylor puts strictures on discussing Jews and their role in our destruction, it backfired in putting a fair and open discussion on the table about what has happened and why with Ms. Wax doing so unprompted. Wax is perfectly willing to be forthright in discussing and critiquing Jewish perfidy, as are a small number of others.
It will take all types and all tactics. Mr. Taylor has been of immense service in building an ark and a pipeline. People need red micro pills not hero’s doses or they will flee. Job #1 is to build ourselves up and along the way help our kind accept and act like the undergirding structure of the civilization, its moral firmament, is being anti-White. I dislike when our side says it is egalitarianism. It isn’t. It is anti-Whiteism. Once on the ark, a subtle discussion of all of the most rabid anti-White people and those on the vanguard and the question, “They all look white. What is it about them that makes them advocate for our genocide and total destruction?” Then follow with some quotes that answer it for them.
Unfortunately, Karp and Palantir are going to grow very powerful and the big victory in the Levant is not the territorial expansion, though that is big, but the ability to resume the project of turning it into the global hub of the new empire’s digital global panopticon.
We need to focus on ourselves.
P.S. in regards to that panopticon, they are not importing Indians to build it. When we meme that China isn’t importing Indians to build their AI we should first list Israel. They are importing a decent amount of Indians in agreements with Modi, but in a Dubai model where they import them as coolies for low skilled labor.
This is an article that needed to be written. Jared Taylor’s contempt for the majority of White people is a serious liability. He regularly insults women and fat people. Well, that’s a supermajority of the White population right there, and not just in West Virginia.

Well, I’m sorry people, but twin studies don’t lie, and they estimate the heritability of obesity at 40-70%. I suspect it is on the higher end, because studies have shown that obesity is all but irreversible, yet the medical establishment wants to minimize the genetic contribution to obesity. In practice, almost noone loses weight and keeps it off over the long term without medical intervention. Like all scientific revolutions, this one will happen one funeral at a time.

The problem: this is only true for monogenetic obesity, not polygenetic obesity. Hundreds of obesity-related genes have been discovered, any one of them making only a small contribution that can add up to formidable odds.

2. It’s obviously not genetic, because people didn’t used to be fat.
The problem: this fails to take into account how genes and environment interact within an organism. A simple example: if you live in an agrarian society and are genetically predisposed to get fat, but you run out of food every year around March and go hungry for a couple of months, you’re not going to get fat. That only lasts until you’re no longer an agrarian society.
My surmise is that air conditioning is one of the primary causes of weight gain. I am (just barely) old enough to remember when poor people didn’t have AC. If you lived in a hot, humid environment, you basically lost your appetite for a quarter if not a third of the year. On the other hand, if you didn’t live in a hot humid environment, it was easier to get out outside and exercise.

I also suspect cigarettes played a part, and not because of an “oral fetish.” Nicotine is a stimulant that suppresses appetite and accelerates metabolism just like any other stimulant, whether you’re talking about caffeine, amphetamines, cocaine, or whatever. When I was in college, hardly anyone was fat, because those of us who weren’t involved in athletics pretty much lived on coffee and cigarettes.
The medical establishment ignores this issue. They claim that smoking cessation only leads to 5-10 pounds of weight gain. Well, sure. You may only gain five pounds in the first year after quitting, but then you gain five more the next year, and then the next year, and the next… Diet pills work, and doctors know they work, but you can only take them for a limited amount of time, because people seem to like having lots of fat people around to look down on, especially doctors. Likewise in the DR. I have a question for anyone who thinks fat people are just lazy gluttons. Why do drugs like Ozempic help people lose weight? Does it make chocolate somehow taste less good than it normally would? Does it magically give you more willpower? No, willpower doesn’t come in a shot or a bottle. Appetite control does, though. Sensations of hunger and satiety depend on hormonal signals, and there is no reason at all to believe that every single person responds to these hormonal signals in the same way. None, whatsoever.
This is yet another one of those situations where parents of numerous children have an epistemic advantage over others. Some of your kids are just hungrier than others, and they struggle with their weight. I don’t recommend shaming, because they’re already ashamed. A much better approach is to avoid the competitive sports rat race and get them involved in life-long activities that they enjoy. (Of course, if Vivek gets his way, we’ll abolish childhood altogether and our children will work 80 hours a week. At which point, I’m sure the fat-shamers will be there to tell them to have Raisin Bran with skim milk for breakfast and a salad with no dressing for lunch and dinner, even though the hour or so they spend eating is literally their only pleasure in life.)

Taylor is 73 years old and has been pro-White for decades. It seems a bit harsh to throw him under the bus for a couple off hand remarks. I also haven’t seen him show contempt. His rhetoric may come across as snobby but he has clearly indicated a desire to help all White Americans.

He uses statistics to focus on the significant political differences between college age men and women. While somewhat harsh, everything he says is well sourced and I have a hard time imagining that he has been going off the rails on Andrew Anglin tier woman bashing rants.

Anyways… there are obviously genetic factors in obesity but what that means is up for debate and the severity of weight gain must be kept in mind. No one is attacking people who are a little ‘husky’ or ‘fluffy’ – the focus is on the fact that America now has a large number of Whites who are severely obese.

I also think that countering obesity will have the opposite effect on birth rates. White America’s TFR is 1.36 whereas Montenegro’s is 1.8 (one of the better ones in Europe) and Montenegro’s obesity rate is dramatically lower than the USA’s. This pattern fits with history. White Germans nearly doubled their birth rate under the NSDAP while simultaneously focusing on national health. Anorexia is bad for pregnancy but so is obesity. We want to minimize the rates of both.

It’s important to think of genetic evolution as not for ‘obesity’ but for ‘calorie storage’. Our ancestors evolved in actual ‘food deserts’ without supermarkets or highly productive agriculture. The advent of easily available and processed foods the past few centuries has shot up obesity. Unfortunately for many, keeping a stable weight means suffering with hunger, probably some more than others. Regulating unhealthy food choices has been driven more by progressives (sugary sodas, food pyramid in schools, tobacco), but is one of their good ideas.

I like West Virginia too and was strongly thinking of settling there. But in principle there’s nothing wrong with what Jared said. White people are not all equal, and it is virtually inevitable that some areas will have better quality white people than others. But Jared does emphasize that he’s a white person first, not some sort of class or IQ elitist, which should have blunted Hanania’s obvious delight.

I don’t like some of the essentially egalitarian criticisms of Taylor found in the comments above (and in Kessler’s post). They have the stench of “victimological” liberalism about them, “everybody’s equal”, “everyone’s a winner”, no one should be challenged or criticized, etc. Such sentiments did not create the greatness of the West. Indeed, they are about a single step away from making the old liberal, personal-agency-denying exculpatory noises about blacks (“their behavior is not their fault, it’s due to their environment, their social deprivations, it’s a natural response to the sickness of society” waah waah …). This is not remotely the traditional – white or Christian – view of personal responsibility. As Chesterton said, “By age 30, a man is responsible for his own face.”
Because one is poor, therefore it’s OK to become a drug addict, or it’s the fault of the Jews that some idiot misuses opioids? To be fair, not all the criticism directed at Mr. Taylor has been from random internet complainers with no skin in the game. The author of this very article has been both vilified in the media and sued for his beliefs.
I break from the DR consensus somewhat on tattoos.
I think some of them are ugly and there are some really bad places a woman can place them like on her chest or a tramp stamp.
But some tattoos can be real art, enhance the person’s aesthetic and sex appeal.
Sleeve tattoos on a cute, well-built woman can be sexy.
And to say tattoos on guys like Paul Waggener of the Wolves of Vinland are a “sign of decline” doesn’t quite hit the mark. Most of us could not get into the fighting shape that man lives in and teaches to others.
If you asked him about his tattoos he would probably mention the vikings and how skin art was used by his warrior ancestors.
In short, there are myriad ways to seek human excellence. For academics like you or Jared, it would certain look silly. But for counter-cultural types like an artist, a fighter, or anyone with a keen eye it can be an avenue for creative expression.
Is it really still counter-cultural, though? Maybe 50 or 60 years ago, when it was mostly bikers, truckers, military vets, and bohemians who had them. Now that every soccer mom has one, all they really represent to me is kind of a herd conformity.
As with anything grounded in Tradition, tattoos ought to be the exception, not the rule. I agree with Greg, a person who is tattooing himself is generally a demoralized person. It often ruins a White person with beautiful skin, making them looked dirty and blotched no matter the quality of the tattoo. As a rule, nearly all of the people I know who have tattoos are either mindless trend followers and/or people who do not have a sense of dignity and confidence to mark and distinguish themselves by exemplary action. They are using tattoos as a poor and often ruinously disfiguring substitute.
Tattoos do have a place. Wagner is a great example and he lies outside of this critique and within the traditional purview. Traditionally, they are used by outsiders and by secret societies and criminal organizations to mark their members. It is a sacrifice to say, ‘I am a member and I am willing to disfigure and mark myself permanently. There is no going back.’ My personal choice is to prefer organizations that want individuals distinguished by action and ability. Wagner and his group are clearly not relying on tattoos and do require real physical and mental commitment at a very high level. So, again, they fall outside the general rule.
It is a terrible shame that when NBA blacks in the 90s began to tattoo their bodies to horrible disfigurement, that Whites once again circled farther down the drain and followed them to yet another low for our culture and our civilization. Tattoos have a place but not in the mass or the main stream – particularly for the descendants of the most aristocratic and transcendent people and civilization in the history of man. Very few should get them and only for the right reasons.

I can understand the affection Kessler and other native West Virginians have for West Virginia. I think that some of the issues facing white West Virginians have more to do with environment than genetics what with the history of exploiting labor and peddling narcotics to working class people. Perhaps Taylor could have worded things a little more nicely but as Scott Greer said, Taylor has been doing this for a long time now. Taylor was an instrumental part in my journey through the proverbial libertarian to alt-right pipeline. I’m going to post intelligently, with first hand knowledge, about Appalachia, as a person born in Southern Appalachia. I do not live there currently, but when I retire, I will be moving back.
Until the middle of the 20th century, there were still communities in Appalachia that did not have access to running water or electricity. The TVA and New Deal fixed that for some people, but it was a slow process.
Appalachian mountain folk are clannish, and this is a product of their ancestral European Scotch-Irish Protestant culture. Up until the mid-20th century, these families still had an ethnic identity that contrasted with the WASP elite that were the founding colonialists.
Their isolation, and lack of access to utilities and resources, slowed the industrialization of the area. Their distrust of Anglos, as an artifact of history, kept them insular.
I have older family members who very much fit the “hillbilly” caricature. They are dying off, but the culture they’ve passed down to my generation, and that my generation has passed to our children, doesn’t change quickly. And nor would we want it to. As a matter of fact, part of my reason for becoming a white identitarian is that I bemoan the erosion of Appalachian culture.
Though these people may seem unintelligent, they are not. Their priorities are simply different. Appalachian Protestant culture has never been showy. Ostentation is generally frowned upon. This can lead to people who seemingly don’t care about their appearance. Sometimes, anything to extremes is bad. I would say that this is an unfortunate biproduct of an otherwise admirable moral conviction.
I am different from much of my own family. I had an eagerness to read as a child, and reflect on things. My cousins were more interested in going to the “crick” to be layabouts, catching tadpoles, skipping rocks, and doing other unproductive, lackadaisical things. To this day, some people can’t envision being anything other than a cashier at Walmart or a convenience store. They don’t have educated mentors, they don’t have teachers purposefully moving into their communities to “do good”, the way that ideological liberals seek out black ghettos to teach in. They are truly a forgotten, left behind people, and part of that is their own fault for their insular culture. But it is what it is.
Taken as a whole, I would infinitely rather live among people who, while maybe they don’t have good dental hygiene, they’d gladly give you the shirt off their own back if they thought you were in need.
These people are receptive to white nationalism. They understand the threat of globalization, the changes it forces upon people who do not wish for the changes. I don’t think it is wise to purposefully alienate them. I don’t honestly think Jared Taylor wishes to alienate them. But we need to be careful in our thinking to truly understand the forces at play.
Your mentioning that they can’t think of doing things beyond a counter clerk job reminded me of the documentary Country Boys from 2005. It featured two Appalachian young men. One was an average guy, and the other was so obviously fiercely intelligent, yet because of his very poor background he was stricken with anxiety and would retreat to working as a fast food counterman instead of advancing, as some but not all of the people in his life wanted him to do. A great documentary, anyone can see himself in that position.

California has some explaining to do. I was born in Chicago, raised in southern California and now live in Kansas City, Missouri. Even with the well populated black areas we have a strong result. All that diversity in CA hasn’t added to their strength. CA was almost a model state before the Civil Rights garbage took over. I’m thankful to be wallowing in white families in my neighborhood with a smattering of minorities. Poor Jared tried to pull out of it with a NAXALT move but he’s called on it. I have never understood the need to sacralize a handful of geriatrics who achieved nothing but talk. There are now millions of people talking that talk, and they did not get it from Jared Taylor. Let’s be real: Candace Owens and Jesse Lee Peters have a better sense of the friend/enemy distinction that white people should be making.
What is needed is an explicitly pro-white organizational structure, something the boomers never pulled off. This structure can be very loose, but people have to agree on three things (1) Who we are, (2) What we want, (3) How do we get it.
These can be answered broadly, but not by purity-spirallers and well-poisoners.
