We should document leftist politicians making starements in support of hedge funds. We could call them the “hedge fund left.”
I’m surprised to hear Karl disparage index funds as “scams”, particularly after having skimmed through John Bogle’s “little book on common sense investing” where he advocates index funds with apparently sound and straight-foward reasoning. I have almost no knowledge on finance but I assume index funds are still better than doing nothing with your money. I would like to hear his argument against index funds.
A few years ago I heard some finance guy explain it more or less like this: if all others are in managed funds and only you are in index funds, YOU come out ahead, mostly due to lower costs and the equilibrating effect of dollar-cost averaging on the long term (as most “indexers” use some kind of regular savings plan). But if EVERYONE is going into indices, all you are doing is blowing up the market with dumb money and the (good) stock pickers come up on top again.
Nothing says ‘we care for the underdog and workers rights’ more than the Cartier wrist watches worn by both Bidens and Kamala Harris. Such assholes.
M’boy that’s communism. Nothings too good for the working class!
I guess. The most expensive watch I’ve seen on him is some form of lower-end Rolex or different Omega Seamasters. It’s pretty understated given his position.
I wouldn’t call a $7 K watch understated. It’s also just one of many he collects. I don’t mean to sound pedantic, just pointing out another example of just how out of touch these people are.
Trans athlete “equity” portends a vast array of empty political gestures, along the lines of the gay anti-homeless boulder.
However (I am pleased to asymmetrically belabor this issue vs that non-issue): if the homeless simply disappear one night (and it could be done, humanely and expeditiously!), everyone would notice the result. While most will be pleased, few will ask what happened to them. When women’s sports disappears — as it will — very, very few people will notice or care.
Except perhaps for women’s beach volleyball. I don’t want that to go either.
When women’s sports disappears — as it will — very, very few people will notice or care.
You might be surprised. I’m not a competitive athlete, but I figure whatever spiteful reactionary animus drives right-wing schadenfreude about women’s sports will target things I value sooner rather than later.
First they came for the athletas…
