I Scream, You Scream

Spencer J. Quinn

Chinese ice cream.

1,412 words

In case you missed it, I recently I got into a little tiff with one of my blogging idols, Kim du Toit. On April 28, Counter-Currents published an article of mine, “Kim du Toit and the Freedom Paradox,” in which I more or less introduced Kim to the Alt Right and took him to task in a nice and respectful way over our political differences. Kim was one of my favorite bloggers of the previous decade and was just coming off an eight-year hiatus, so I figured the time was right.

Although Kim is by no means Alt Right himself, he is a man of the Right (Gun Right, Alt Lite, Alt West, what have you) and worth reading regardless. Anyway, about a week ago, Kim actually responded to my article. In a post entitled “Here We Go Again,” Kim took the gloves off and tore into the Alt Right pretty hard. He left aside many of the specifics in my article and, thankfully, steered clear of attacking me personally. In a number of ways, however, he seemed to tacitly agree with my assessments of him, which was gratifying. But for the Alt Right, or rather a stereotypically nasty incarnation of it, he had nothing but scorn. Click on over if you care to agree or disagree with him. Be forewarned, however, if you wish to comment. He is mean.

And my reaction? Boy, was I flattered. First, we’re talking about the author of one of my all-time favorite novels, Vienna Days (and I am extremely hard to please when it comes to novels). So for Kim du Toit to dedicate over 2,800 words to responding to something I wrote turned out to be a pretty big deal for me, even if most of it was negative. And he did instruct his readers to read all of my essay before responding, so there’s that. Second, I am a firm believer in clarity, and for Kim to state in no uncertain terms why he is not on the Alt Right during these changing times can only be a Good Thing (not as good as actually joining the Alt Right, perhaps, but still . . .).

This article is not so much a response to Kim but a chance to riff on a clever analogy in his essay. For him, the Alt Right is like a quart of vanilla ice cream with a tablespoon of dog poop on top. The ice cream represents all that he likes about the Alt Right, namely its respect for Western Civilization and its steadfast opposition to the Left. The poop, of course, represents all that he dislikes about the Alt Right, namely its antipathy towards Jews and feelings of racial superiority over blacks and other non-whites.

While I find Kim’s assessment of the Alt Right somewhat unfair and jaundiced, I do agree that there is an element of nastiness to the Alt Right. Any ethnonationalist movement must have it, and White Nationalists are no different. To actually run a functioning ethnostate, you have to be able to say no to people who are not like you and then back it up with force if necessary. Try figuring out how many Irish Catholics can emigrate to Israel as returning Christians, or how many wide-eyed occidentals can sail their way into Japan as “refugees,” and you’ll see my point. Personally, I think that likening all this to excrement is a tad harsh. I’d prefer to substitute it with something also inappropriate but at the same time edible, like paprika.

The Alt Right is a tablespoon of paprika in a quart of vanilla ice cream. I can buy that.

Also, I think (or, rather, hope) that the Alt Lite in general would agree that even with that nasty little dollop, the Alt Right is still preferable to the Left. At least we’re up front about our negative aspects, unlike the Left, which stirs that tablespoon into the mix until you can’t see it anymore and then calls it “peanut butter.”

This got me thinking: what political ideology doesn’t feature that undesirable tablespoon, either as part of its recipe or after it gets served when folks least expect it? What political system which has withstood the test of history can actually help raise a significant proportion of its citizens above the wretched and tragic nature of life? Not too many. But of the ones that can, I think the greatest is the constitutional republic that is the United States. Maybe this amounts to home cookin’ since I grew up there, but for all its prosperity, strength, innovation, and freedom, the United States, up until its height in the mid-1960s, represented the veritable apex of human civilization. In my opinion, no nation was greater, before or since. So when folks get turned off by that one tablespoon of nastiness on their quart of ice cream, that’s because they’ve lived in America or something similar. They know what ice cream is like without it. And it is a wonderful thing.

So far, so good.

But where Vox Day likes to talk about the Magic Dirt theory, which naïvely posits that as soon as Third World immigrants place their sandaled feet on American soil they become Americans, I like to talk about the equally silly Magic Ink theory. The Magic Ink theory states that all any government needs to do to be as successful as the United States is to write up a constitution just like the American Constitution. According to the Magic Ink theory, it’s not so much the people who make a nation great but its institutions as delineated in documents sitting in bulletproof, moisture-controlled, vacuum-sealed glass cases. This is why many conservative and Alt Lite people don’t like it when the Alt Right brings up race or complains about Jews. They have their magic dirt and their magic ink to magically turn everyone into Americans, even if we’re not all equal. Why try to divide us all by talking about the importance of race?

Because, as the Alt Right sees it, we’ve been consuming pure vanilla ice cream all these years thanks solely to the fact that the vast majority of people serving it up have been white. Due to a genetic predilection many whites have towards things such as liberty, objectivity, and justice, they, after much trial and error, derived a system of government which allowed them to pursue these things in the highest possible numbers and in the fairest way possible. In other words, whites made the US Constitution. It did not make them.

When whites finally become a minority in America, however, they are going to be outnumbered by people who, probably also for genetic reasons, lack that same appreciation for liberty, objectivity, and justice. I say this because Hispanics, black Africans, Arabs, and many South Asians have never produced any system of government as enlightened as those found in Europe or America throughout their long histories. In fact, only the East Asians, to their credit, have been able to emulate them. I bring genetics into it not because I am a geneticist, but because genes are the best way to explain why pagan Greeks and Christian Anglo-Saxons separated by two thousand years can have strikingly similar priorities when it comes to systems of government. Occam’s Razor and all that.

The Alt Right predicts that once the white majority is broken, the US Constitution and all that it stands for will soon fall by the wayside. We’re putting that little dollop of nastiness on our ice cream not because we want to, but because we’re going to need it. If the genetic and racial interpretation of human activity described above is correct (and I see no reason why it isn’t), then whites as a people need to start putting roadblocks in place now, not only to protect their crumbling majorities in their own homelands but also to ensure the existence of these majorities in perpetuity. This means a wall. Many walls. This means deportations and an end to non-white immigration and a return to the strong racial pride whites in America had up until the mid-1960s, and which whites in South Africa had up until the fall of Apartheid.

If you think that tablespoon of nastiness is bad now, wait till it grows five or ten times in size, which is what is going to have to happen if our immigration trends continue. But at that point, it just might be impossible to swallow.

I think we are so ” soft” these days that what was once just sensible exclusion has become thought of as nastiness and hate. You are right, we must discriminate and exclude in order to define and protect ourselves. As for Blacks, or any other flavour, they will readily tell you we are NOT all the same. Whites can be proud of their achievements. Our achievements carry the modern world. Why not feel proud, even superior. Are we so scared of feeling superior in a particular field that we call it hate? This is participation trophy stuff. A black athlete will readily tell you how superior he is. We are scared rabbits now.

I want to raise a quick question for Kim Du Toit: If apartheid was unacceptable, then what policy would you have advocated?

One-man-one-vote? We saw how that played out in the rest of Africa.

The methods black Africans use to suppress ethnic rivals? Well, to some degree we see that playing out today in SA with farm-attacks, astronomical crime rates, the destruction of Boer cultural icons, Whites being discriminated against openly and legally.

Moving somewhere else? OK, this works for some people, but what of the millions of White South Africans who lack the resources to relocate to another continent? They are left to their fate?

The dilemma, of course, is that you just can not run away from what was once termed the Rising Tide of Color. How long it will be before whatever country du Toit now calls his new homeland will be overrun by third world “immigrants” and “refugees?” We already see this process taking place from Malmo to California.

Anyway, Kim, if you are reading this, my question is a real one and I would like to see an answer.

    Thanks.

R_Moreland, thank you for posting your question. I really hope Kim does respond, but I’m afraid he won’t. I say this because the only way to honestly respond is to accept race realism or deny it, and Kim does not have the enthusiasm for either. I’m sure he’d rather just clean his guns.

Well, at least you tried Mr. Quinn. I have seen several articles of yours on this site, and they usually involve some form of outreach towards more mainstream conservatives.

I understand the effort, but I think it is doomed to fail. These Kim types are so invested in their individualist mindset, according to which you and you alone are responsible for your fate in life, that any critique of society which takes groups into account will be automatically rejected as “collectivism”.

They are the perfect marks for GOP tricksters, who have been running the same scam for decades: use the anxiety over capitalist-driven sexual and social permissiveness to get elected, when in power do nothing but empty gestures while further entrenching such permissiveness via corporate-friendly policies, and finally ride the wave of never-ending indignation to power again.

Thomas Frank’s “What’s the matter with Kansas?” from 2004 perfectly explains this phenomenon.

Lol what an idiotic hypocrite. He LOVES Israel, hates apartheid south Africa and claims he’s a Christian Zionist but…. Isn’t Israel an apartheid ethnostate that forcibly removed all the original Muslim inhabitants?

Does he think Pakistan and India would be better off still combined?

Some people are too stupid to realise their own stupidity.

Agreed. I just skimmed his “Here We Go Again.” I couldn’t bear to read it all. Everything he hates about the Alt-Right he adores where done by the self-Chosen. A low-T beta cuck boomer goy slave, oi vey! Truly pathetic.

I don’t know where we will ever find more mouthy, thoughtless, boomers to tell us that the magic dirt will save us because Ben Carson.

This guy has never thought for five seconds from anyone else’s perspective. He is just a narcissist convinced that you should buy his garbage because he likes it a lot. His schtick amounts to being a contrarian, when he’s in SA he’s against that government, and when he’s here he’s against this one. BFD.

I’ll be glad when the millions of “tough guys” like this one finally die off. Hell, I’m not nearly as old as this guy and I’ve fought in wars. It’s not exactly a qualification and neither is mere contrarianism.

  6. Bill says:
    May 15, 2017 at 7:49 pm

Now stay with me here, because what sets me apart from the alt-Right is that I won’t — can’t — make the leap from Africa being so screwed to “Blacks are therefore inferior to Whites”. You know why I can’t? Because of Ben Carson, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Richard Pryor and Denzel Washington

I was really hoping this guy had a valid argument, because being red-pilled on race is difficult from a moral stand point for some ( myself included ) But it’s the most factual positioning currently. I wanted to see something enlightening from his post after Mr Quinn talked him up a great deal, but what I see is something along the lines are all blacks have the propensity for greatness because of a few good ones. ( He even dug very deep to pull up questionable choices like Richard Pryor and Denzel Washington)

Sad to see but this is the boomer mentality personified, and what’s scary is this man is seeing his home country burn due to angry racists blacks with a strong sense of entitlement, this mirrors Black Lives Matter here in the USA. When we have strong trends like this and very real data on racial differences in IQ and social propensities the only thing that makes sense for Kim’s position is Equality as a religion, and boomers have that in spades unfortunately.

    1. Proofreader says:
      May 16, 2017 at 2:13 am

“He even dug very deep to pull up questionable choices like Richard Pryor and Denzel Washington.” It says a lot that there aren’t many “numinous Negroes” around, even when the bar is set so low as to include a comedian and crackhead like Richard Pryor.

George Lincoln Rockwell once published a booklet of 16 blank pages titled Great Achievements of the Negro Race. There should be a sequel to it: Great Achievements of Conservatives. In White Power (1967), Rockwell castigated conservatives for “fifty years of failure”; conservatives now have a century of failure to their discredit.

    2. Spencer Quinn says:
      May 16, 2017 at 5:48 am

Well said, Bill. It’s actually quite laughable that he includes Richard Pryor in his list of black geniuses, a guy who blows himself up while making crack cocaine or whatever it was. Who would put George Carlin on a list of great white geniuses, anyway?

  7. R_Moreland says:
    May 16, 2017 at 2:40 am

There is a lot to be said here. So let me burn through some CC bandwith…

White people have largely surrendered on the issue of “White Supremacy” in the last half century. The results have been largely catastrophic for Western Civilization. Whites have been pushed out of African colonies; third world peoples have invaded White homelands; entire cities like Detroit are reduced to ruins or like Paris and London, become scenes of mass pillaging. In du Toit’s former homeland massive ANC inspired violence, discrimination and threats of expropriation are directed against Boer farmers in particular and Whites in general.

Someone, apparently, has forgotten to give non-Whites the memo about equality.

Really, the contraction of the West (as James Burnham termed it) corresponds directly to the dissipation of White racial consciousness since the mid-20th century. And the more White people abandon the fight for their own racial interests, the more third worlders sense the weakness and close in for the kill.

Consider this passage from du Toit’s article:

I grew up in a wannabe-White ethnostate, I knew White supremacists, and oh my gawd, I was even related to a bunch of them. They were all, to a man, mean-spirited, ugly people, and their system of government — apartheid — was even uglier than they were. Even though their philosophical underpinning made apparent sense — the catastrophe that was (and is) Black Africa showed that Blacks were incapable of self-government — but their prescription to protect themselves against that was horrible and ultimately doomed to failure, as events would prove.

Given that du Toit admits that Black Africa was and continues to be a catastrophe, and that the philosophical underpinnings of apartheid made sense – I’ll repeat the question from my earlier post: If apartheid was unacceptable, then what policy would [du Toit] have advocated?

Doesn’t it occur to him that the Boer mean-spiritedness was precisely what kept Western Civilization running in the face of a dysfunctional black majority? The moment that Whites dropped the mean-spiritedness and conceded to black majority rule all hell broke loose and we can see the grim results playing out in the rainbow nation. And if Thomas Sowell and Maxine Waters are capable of maintaining Western Civilization then why are cities such as Detroit (Johannesburg, Malmo, Rotherham, Cologne, etc., etc.) becoming increasingly unlivable for White people, as evidenced by their crime, infrastructure collapse, corruption and shift to third world demographics?

    Or consider this statement:

…suppose that you’re right; suppose that we Whites should create an exclusive White ethnostate … how, exactly, are you going to create this little White nationalist Nirvana? How are you going to move this from a unicorn’s wet dream to ugly (and it would be ugly) reality?

Well, now, how did White people transform North America from 1815 to 1898? In less than a century Whites conquered the native peoples, moved Indians onto reservations, defeated Mexico, and pushed their way to the Pacific. And built a couple of great countries in the USA and Canada. As for ugliness, consider that after both World Wars, White governments had no hesitation in redrawing national boundaries while displacing tens of millions of people from their ancient homelands, a process which resulted in the death of possibly a couple million civilians – White civilians. And we can also ponder World War II where (White) Allied armed forces routinely firebombed entire cities in Europe and Japan. If Whites can inflict all this “ugliness” on first world civilizations in the interests of geopolitics, then why not the same against third world invaders in the interests of racial survival?

Let’s also note that third worlders do not show the slightest hesitation in using “ugly” methods: terrorism to ethnically cleanse Whites out of former colonies like Algeria, Congo and Zimbabwe; mass migrations which trample American and European borders; taking over cities from Detroit to Malmo then reducing them to third world No Go Zones. Don’t forget the exploitation of sexual violence (Rotherham, Cologne, etc.) to remind Whites who has the supremacy — sounds pretty ugly to me.

Du Toit’s revulsion against White Supremacy – or more accurately, over White Nationalism – gets to the root of the issue. For White Civilization to survive White people must believe they have a civilization which is unique and thus worth fighting for. Whether or not Whites are superior is really besides the point…it’s that will to power which counts.

All this is unfortunate, because du Toit does seem to have the requisite ornery spirit and skill with firearms to make an excellent White warrior. You just wish he would direct his talents against racial enemies instead of his fellow Whites.

  8. Oscar says:
    May 16, 2017 at 5:07 am

“Western civilization”. Yeah right. I guess that one hundred years ago it was taking some holiday or something.

Also, anybody using “Judeo-Christian” unironically has a very poor grasp of the real history of Christianity (plus it subtly and insidiously reduces Judaism to a mere appendix of it, as some Jews have duly noted).

I know those Kim types. Plenty of them over at Breitbart, complete with their American eagle avatars, hopping mad about “libtards” and “Killary”, afraid that any minute now Dianne Feinstein might show up at their door to take their guns.

Personally they are probably swell guys, but their politics are too messed up due to years of FOX disinformation and talk radio inanities.

  9. Matthias says:

SQ, you really oversold du Toit in your last article. Take away the “tough gunman” act, and all that is left is your typical boomer coward, including the trademark naivité regarding the Jewish Question. Very disturbing reading his drivel while whites get slaughtered and expropriated daily in SA. Volks-verraaier, indeed.

South Africa really is a critical topic. Under apartheid, it was a microcosm of the situation we face today globally: a White minority maintaining first world civilization over a large and restive third world populace. The failure of White countries to support South Africa during the struggle over apartheid needs to be dissected with lessons learned to be applied to the current crisis.

This is why I’d like to see Kim du Toit engaged in a dialog. He was there at ground zero, so to speak. What exactly would it take to get him to take the Red Pill?

It is amazing how those in the alt-light love to condemn the racist attitudes of those on the alt-right, while seeming to be completely oblivious to how this is a reaction to racial hatred against whites by various groups, especially and deviously so, jews. Ignoring how history is simply a record of constant racial/ethnic/cultural conflict seems to be the defining characteristic of the alt-light.

  13. Timothy Zak says:
    May 26, 2017 at 1:27 am

The reality is that most people accept ethnic exclusion as a normal and acceptable practice. It’s not a cause for scandal, just a part of cultural tradition. I don’t find it objectionable either, but I don’t accept it on the basis of the particular ethnicity of people who practice ethnic exclusion.

In the movie “The Comedian”, there is a scene of a lesbian wedding, complete with joyful tears from the Jewish mother. A foul mouthed comedian performs for his niece, and horrifies the room by saying,

“I know we’re supposed to pretend there’s nothing wrong or unusual about this event tonight, just another middle-class Jewish wedding, right? No! No…[to the mother] How could you let this happen?” the bride’s jaws drop, people look aghast [He turns to the bride] “…the shame that you brought to all of us… by marring a non-Jew!”
And everybody laughs with relief and applauds. Thank God he didn’t make a tasteless joke

Imagine the public reaction to this film:
“… the shame that you brought to all of us… by marring a negro!”
And the room is filled with laughter and applause.
