Trouble has come to the South Pacific while America has been focused to the North on Trump’s Greenland debacle and ICE battling Kamikaze Karens in Minneapolis.
In early January, Australia passed the Combating Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill 2026. The Bondi Beach Massacre was used as a pretext to pass it, but everyone knows that it won’t be used against jihadi migrants but rather against those who oppose the Great Replacement and fearlessly point out that Jews are overrepresented among the people who push it.
We know this because of how two prisoners are already being treated: Bondi Beach mass murderer Naveed Akram and Bondi Beach National Socialist podcaster and shitposter Joel Davis.
Efforts to tone down the bill’s worst aspects failed. The bill was passed making it an offense with up to five years of prison for publicly promoting or inciting racial hatred. It’s so broad that it includes speech, symbols, gestures, online content, or disseminating ideas of racial superiority. Not that it would ever be applied to anti-white hate. And it’s intentionally vague to chill free speech. If you hurt the feelings of a protected class, it’s a hate crime with stiff penalties.
In an email sent to its members, the Institute for Public Affairs (IPA) called it an “abomination.” IPA also noted that there are zero meaningful safeguards, and thus “if the government wants to ban a group, then that group will be banned.”
The bill is working precisely as intended. The National Socialist Network (NSN) pre-emptively disbanded before the bill passed to protect their members. That does not mean that the Left has won, however.
The bill severely delegitimized the system. Everyone has noticed that a lot of senators from the Liberal Party dishonestly and cowardly colluded with Labor by abstaining instead of voting “no.” And while it was primarily directed at the NSN and other “far-Right” groups and individuals, many average Australians have been shocked at how the mask of liberal democracy has slipped. They know that they are at risk of prosecution too if they don’t toe the party line.
For example, Noticer News reported that there were a lot of “Free Joel Davis” signs at the March for Australia in Sydney held on Australia Day, January 26. While this latest March for Australia was smaller than the two previous ones held in 2025, there were more radicalized demonstrators and young men. However, there were several incidents in which the police did nothing as Leftists attacked Rightists, such as this one. Auspill gave a speech, declaring:
There is a new wave of Nationalism in this country. And we are not sorry. We are not sorry for being Australian. We are not sorry for being White. And we are not sorry for being proud of this country
Joel Davis has been kept in shocking conditions since November 20, 2025. On December 31, Tom Sewell reported that:
I just got off the phone from Joel’s lawyer and he has stated that Joel is being held in conditions that could only be described as human rights abuse. Joel has had no run out, no shower, and multiple times he has not been fed. He is spending 24 hours a day in lock up instead of the usual 23 hours for solitary confinement.
Despite the lack of even flimsy terrorism charges, the system has called Joel Davis a “national security threat” to justify their atrocious behavior. This stems from an alleged post of Joel Davis where he called for his followers to “rhetorically rape” a politician on X, which clearly meant to ratio. In contrast, Naveed Akram is in a maximum security facility but is otherwise not being treated abnormally at all. Joel Davis’s abuse began before the bill was passed and is obviously meant to intimidate others with what they can expect if they are charged under the bill.
It is expected that its constitutionality will be challenged before Australia’s High Court, but no formal challenges have been filed as of now.
But there is a silver lining. As Tom Sewell of the former NSN noted, political groups that would otherwise run afoul of the bill can probably still form political parties under current Australian case law to avoid going to jail. In fact, the aforementioned IPA laments how this is a likely outcome. Thus while the bill was a major setback in the short term, it may backfire in the long term. From what I have observed of the NSN and broader Australian nationalist scene, they are incredibly resilient and energetic. This is ultimately just another challenge that they will overcome.
That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t do what we can to help them, however. If Australia wants to act like a banana republic, they should be treated as one. That means that those who engage in anarcho-tyranny should be sanctioned like Third-World war criminals, from the lowliest of law clerks and cops who are “just following orders” up to lying journalists and politicians. There is already precedent for this.
In December 2025, the State Department imposed a travel ban on five eurocrats for their role in advancing the censorious Digital Services Act. The number and severity of these sanctions should be increased.
In addition to sanctions, Trump could use his favorite weapon of threatening tariffs until freedom in Australia improves.
Furthermore, America could threaten to leave the Five Eyes intelligence sharing agreement between the Anglosphere countries which has its roots in WWII and was expanded during the Cold War. The logic was that the Anglosphere countries have common interests and are trustworthy because they share a common culture. That is no longer the case. Migration, censorship, and anarcho-tyranny are all contrary to American policy, both foreign and domestic.
I primarily want to pressure Australia to release Joel Davis and to promote White Nationalism world-wide. But there is another reason. We need Australia to remain strong and free to serve as a bulwark against Chinese expansion. Unlike Japan, Australia is far enough away from China to avoid missile saturation but unlike Hawaii close enough to serve as a springboard for a counter-offensive.
Migration risks turning Australia into a colony for foreign powers, mainly India, China, and Islam. This is similar to what is happening in Canada as described here. (It should be noted that while India and China are geopolitical rivals, their diasporas would have no problem selling out Australia to the highest bidder.) And unlike fears of Chinese designs on Greenland which are highly tenuous, the dangers of Australia being critically weakened or eventually outright flipped by foreign subversion are quite real.
Jacob Hersant remains defiant. In a Telegram video, he declared:

Until we can organize again, we will not require the discipline needed to keep a group of men together in unity. And until we can organize again, we will have to cultivate self-discipline to keep us sane and productive when we don’t have brothers to rely on. Keep your head and stay on the path. Don’t give yourself to despair, and don’t lash out in anger. We will win in the end.
But even if Australia’s Hate and Extremism Bill turns out to be merely a setback, that doesn’t mean that we should stand idle. And especially when Australia is not just holding but abusing political prisoners. America must do what it can to help nationalists down under. Freedom is no longer a buzzword, but a strategic geopolitical interest.

I’m not even NS but the NSN was the best thing going in nationalism anywhere in the Anglosphere, hopefully this new law is struck down or the Australian government starts feeling more heat over this.
What bothers me the most is that they also shut down their nascent political party, White Australia, ceding the right-wing political territory to One Nation grifters with their Indian candidates.

There was a lot of stuttering on camera during press conferences when the bill got announced. The politicians do look like they’re lacking confidence in their worldview and what’s to come. We have to remember that progressive elites themselves are entering uncharted territory as the demographics shift and the veneer of liberalism falls.

It is difficult for people who have not studied the new Australian legal system in detail to understand how bad it really is. We are used to a model in which you have a law, and then someone says you broke the law, and then you have a day in court. There are other assumptions associated with this. We are not even aware that we habitually make these assumptions; we just think that this is normal. That is not how the new Australian system works at all.
The new model is RISK (in the eyes of politically powerful people who oppose antisemitism and other things they see as bad), INTERVENTION (meaning the immediate use of police powers), and CONSEQUENCES (which is every bit as awful as you think it might be). Your day in court, if any, comes much later and is not part of the main process. And this is not one bad law, but it is the rewriting of the interpretation and the application of every law (in an environment that was already bristling with heavy legal risks and viewpoint-based legal discrimination aimed at pro-Whites).
The new system is universal, in that it applies to Australians anywhere in the world even if they are not breaking any local laws. The new law has all the evils of an after-the-fact law, in that anything you have ever said or done in your life is grist for the “risk assessment” mill, even if it was perfectly legal when you said it, and even if it takes a creative new invention of a novel “risk profile” to find something suspect about it. And so on and so on.

I just watched that video. Gee-zuz! Scary and disturbing. What the authorities did to Joel Davis was scary and disturbing enough, before these new rules even came in. Covid authoritarianism was also scary and weird, but no one paid enough attention.
As an Aussie, I refused to believe that we would ever be as gay as the UK, or any other EU stupid “Western European” country, but here we are. With every passing day Australia gets weirder.
I hope Counter-Currents will stick devoutly to its policy of not revealing the identity of its supporters and commenters, because the legal system brought in by the Combating Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill of 2026 targets groups (which can be added to a creative new “risk profile” at any time), and members of groups, explicitly including informal members who have no association other than what the politically powerful enemies of antisemitism, hate, and extremism may choose to see as an association.
A single comment associated to the name of an Australian citizen could create immense risk, especially when you consider that the new legal regime explicitly repudiates any requirement for any “procedural fairness.”
Previously I have disagreed philosophically with Counter-Currents on the sanctity of “the law” and the implicit assumption that its only enemy is the miserable selfishness of the self-seeking individual, which is an enemy of the general good.
Never in my life have I felt less inclined to agree that the law is entitled to a supreme reverence just because it is the law. Never in my life have I felt less inclined to agree that the law is opposed only by the self-seeking individual who cares nothing for the good of his race.
Ridiculous. Shameful. I don’t know what to say, but I much suspect there’s something in this relationship towards the US that’s a big part of the problem, that’s getting countries like the UK and Australia to turn on their own populations like this and sacrifice them to The Great Satan.
There seems to be two channels from the US currently. The Trump/Vance channel doesn’t seem to like the speech stuff in Europe for example, which is good. But one of the writers here talked about American officials going to Europe to help them implement their hate laws, which sounds right to me. Global Jewish lobbying is the main thing I guess, but I think this stuff is also tied up with this particular military alliance axis with the US. In the Australia there have been renewed pledges with the US around China.

The Antisemitism part is up-front. This is a pro-Jewish law to punish and silence Whites. It is a law of Semitic tyranny. Never let anyone tell you this Combatting Antisemitism censorship law has nnothing to do with the Jews.
The bad-English jargon-word “Hate” follows immediately. Never let anyone tell you “there’s no such thing as a hate crime.” There is a hate crime law in force anywhere in the world that there is an Australian, even in America. This law follows Australians around like an ankle monitor.
Migration is a part of this law, right there in the title. This is a mass immigration, great replacement, White genocide law, just as you would expect of a Jewish supremacist law. This is a law that prevents us Whites from talking back as we are flooded with non-White mass immigration. This law facilitates us being erased by policy. This is a White genocide law.
