Trans-Atlantic Beef
Thoughts on Europe & America

Millennial Woes

3,964 words

I recently encountered a Twitter thread of Americans spewing hatred for Europeans. I decided to ask where this hatred comes from, and received many helpful replies, and many stupid ones. (For example, one person bizarrely blamed Europe for America’s liberal immigration policies.)

Of course, when condemning or celebrating a country, one should distinguish between its elites, its ordinary people, its general culture, and its history. In practice, however, that takes all the zest out of things. We prefer to make ridiculous sweeping generalisations that, if we stepped back from for a moment, would look cartoonishly unfair. Often the hilarity is, not in how false such statements are, but in how true they turn out to be despite everything. Stereotypes do tend to be accurate – whether it’s arrogant Frenchmen, dour Scots (including myself), autistic Germans, macho Italians… or loud Americans.

But in Europe, antipathy towards America is especially pointed, more than that towards any of our fellow European nations. I think this is not just because of the ocean between us (after all, Canada doesn’t attract anywhere near as much opprobrium) but mostly because America, as a country, has ruled the world throughout everyone’s lifetime. They have been “on top” – the dominant country, the one in charge, the richest and most powerful, etc. This inevitably elicits resentment, jealousy, exasperation. The organiser of any event has to field complaints from countless people who aren’t organising it.

Perhaps for that reason, it goes the other way, too: Americans have a lot of loathing for Europeans (they tend to lump us all together, both out of convenience and ignorance). I only recently came to see how much Americans loathe Europeans. I expect in some ways it is justified, in some ways not. That is why I asked the question on Twitter. I will go through the more interesting replies.

But first, I will list some common grievances that Europeans have with Americans and comment on each one.

Americans Are Loud and Ill-mannered

A minority of them (maybe 10%) definitely are. There is a certain type of American male who is very difficult for Europeans to be around, because he never stops talking, never asks you a question, cannot abide even a momentary rest in the conversation, and doesn’t care whether the people two tables along are interested in his interminable (and usually superficial) commentary. He sees conversation as competition and the goal is to talk more than the other guy. It is insufferable.

I have met a few Canadian men like this, but they are far more often American. There is no defending it. Americans should simply stop being this way. Everyone hates you for it, and rightly. While it might have been a useful trait in the Wild West, in a settled culture such as you now live in it is an unforgivable imposition on everyone else. If you allow your son to grow up this way, you should be ashamed. However, by my estimation 90% of Americans don’t, so while the stereotype exists for a reason, it is over-stated.

Americans Are Arrogant and Ignorant

This is the big cliché: Americans think their country is so important and special that they don’t need to know about any other place on Earth. Most of them don’t have passports and couldn’t point to the North Pole on a map, etc.

The first thing to say here is simply that the United States is a vast country with many different climates and countless cities, nature parks, deserts, and even a few rainforests. You could live your entire life there and never run out of novelties. If many ordinary (eg. middling IQ) Americans feel no need to ever venture abroad, it is hardly surprising. I think Europeans sometimes underestimate how much America has to offer its citizens, and therefore how little each of them will feel any need to go elsewhere.

As for the arrogance about their country… America is that important. It is futile for Europeans to be outraged over what is simply a fact. Given America’s prominence and power, it would be strange if its citizens did not have a certain amount of arrogance about their country. It was probably similar for the British while their Empire dominated the world (though I suspect they saw it as an essential part of being cultured to have considerable knowledge of other countries).

Which brings us to another beef Europeans have with Americans…

Americans Have No Concept of Being “Cultured”

The truth here is very nuanced.

The first caveat: while it is true that most Americans are not cultured and indeed don’t understand or respect the concept, the same is now true of most Europeans as well. American egalitarianism has spread to Europe, along with its two bastard children: a bland middle-brow consumerist lifestyle, and the low-grade ghetto rap trash culture. (This egalitarianism is itself something we could hold against America, but most of us today approve of it.)

The second caveat: there are some Americans who, even amidst the storm of egalitarian drivel, instinctively understand the concept of being cultured, yearn for it, pursue it and achieve it. Such individuals are probably less numerous than in Europe because American society beats them down more effectively, and because it is simply harder to be cultured when your nation is only a few centuries old, and is not where your genes were forged.

Americans Are Materialistic

They are, but I think most Europeans would be the same if their economies supported it. This is especially true nowadays; our ancestors probably had much less vulgarity than we do today. In this, as in other ways, we have become the Americans we affect to look down upon. I think Europeans are generally holding on to a ghost image of ourselves which has not been true in our lifetimes. For example, how can you condemn Trump as amorally materialistic, when you yourself throw huge numbers of pubescent rape victims under the bus simply for being working-class?

Americans Are Obsessed with Guns and Are Murderous

I’m on the Americans’ side. It is emasculating for men to be denied guns. Of course we Europeans should have them, like our grandfathers did. To take pride in this castration as if it’s somehow a moral virtue is pathetic, and I’m not surprised Americans are disgusted.

As a sidenote, I always find it embarrassing when British men talk knowledgeably about the guns they’re not allowed to have. It’s like little boys talking about the fast cars they’ll get when they’re grown up. But on the other hand, the interest these men have in guns shows that they are really not very different at all from their American cousins. What I hate is not what these men are, but what the British government has done to them.

Having said all that, it is important to state that Europe is not exactly “gun-free hippy-dippy land”. Owning guns (except automatic weapons) is legal in virtually all European countries, but requires strict background checks. I think the difference really emerges from culture rather than law: the gun is legal here, but much less prominent in daily life than in America.

The reason Europeans tend to pour scorn on American love of guns is the perception that said love raises the homicide rates. When race is swept under the rug, the cause has to be something else – the guns themselves, or the culture that celebrates them. Obviously, white Americans are not more murderous than Europeans. It only looks that way because of the black problem. We in Europe can kid ourselves about this because, at least until recently, we were free of that problem.

Americans Are Racist

This is the idea of Americans as ignorant rednecks who really have it in for black people and simply cannot accept that we are all equal.

Again, Europeans had the luxury of believing this and feeling superior because we didn’t have large numbers of non-whites living among us. It was never fair for us to condemn Americans as we did. We should atone for that and wise up, quickly. As one American friend put it to me:

The story of racism in America, is the story of white people trying to find a way to live with black people. All the measures we tried to get them to behave was us desperately trying to create a situation where we could co-exist.

That this struggle was always futile means we Europeans get to look down on Americans for failing at it. But that is grotesquely unfair. Moreover, we are now experiencing the very same futility in Europe. We will eat humble pie as we discover what White Americans have been contending with all along.

As a caveat, it’s worth pointing out that white American liberals oddly assume the same role as (stereotypical) Europeans: looking down on ordinary white Americans as unsophisticated racist idiots.

Americans Are Bible Bashers

I have heard this kind of thing for decades, and indeed probably said it myself in my teens. Many of us in Europe thought our cultures were more enlightened than America’s because it was still dominated by backward, dumbass Christianity. This perception is created by Jewish Hollywood, which nearly always portrays a Christian community as inbred, corrupt, stupid, fearful, hateful and angry. (Americans should always remember that Europeans largely operate with a distorted notion of America transmitted by Hollywood.)

Of course, nowadays I have a very different view of things. Though not a Christian myself, and though I dislike the warring between Christians and Pagans, I do wish that America was still a devoutly Christian society, because I don’t see how else stability can be achieved. Ironically, the only negative I now see about Christian America is that it makes Americans vulnerable to the Israel lobby.

Now to go through some American grievances with Europeans, gleaned from my Twitter post…

Europeans Are Snobby/Snooty, Etc.

This complaint, voiced by many Americans, is the flip-side of “Americans have no concept of being cultured”, and it is true. It is difficult to address without sounding very snooty myself. While America does have some time and appreciation for high culture, egalitarianism is in the very fabric of American life, so that nobody blinks when a billionaire queues up for some shitty takeaway food, or a wealthy man buys a skate rink for himself, or a wealthy man does not hire a butler since he has no higher things to pursue with all the time he would save. American culture is a process of endless dissolving. It has even dissolved its primary cultural export – Hollywood movies – so that we now have the nadir of Marvel superhero garbage.

I am not going to pretend that I respect American popular culture. Of course it has produced some good things but 99% of it is awful. Sooner or later Americans will have to confront the fact that, when a superpower, they produced very little that built upon the past, but endless piles of stuff that degraded it. The deracination, the divorce from the Old World, left them largely dependent on a foreign tribe for their ideas.

The consolation for Americans is that today’s Europeans are, themselves, almost as culturally degraded, because we are almost as deracinated. (On this and other points, we Europeans kid ourselves, and we take out the resulting frustration on you poor Americans.) The truth is modernity has done a number on us all – but I maintain that America has been the epicentre.

Europeans Look Down on America’s Cut-throat Work Ethic

“I know many Europeans who make fun of Americans for working so hard and having no social safety net.”

I don’t know whether we make fun of this so much as express amazement that Americans put up with it. I don’t know what this guy’s opinion on the matter is, but someone else said:

Americans mostly want more government welfare, but believe that America’s defense budget prevents that. Thus, the view is that our taxes are being spent on Europe, not America, and that Europe is ungrateful.

It is understandable that Americans would be annoyed by this situation. However, why is their military spending so high? Because those in charge of their country desire that it remain world hegemon. The cost of hegemony is a massive military. America is not doing this out of the goodness of its heart, to protect all these other countries. It is very naive of Americans to believe this of their government.

Even so, American taxes are famously lower than European taxes, so maybe, even with the current military spending, they could afford “more government welfare” as well.

Europeans Needed “Rescuing” in Two World Wars

All the shit you Europeans talk to us online. Bunch of ungrateful losers that would all be speaking German if we hadn’t entered two world wars to save you and then kept the Russians at bay for you during the Cold War years.

This comment rests on the assumption that America entered World War II out of altruism rather than self-interest. Should we be grateful, really, when America became the superpower after that war, while our countries were left in ruins and dominated by America, which proceeded to encourage and facilitate mass immigration into our countries to replace us? No doubt Americans are brought up to believe that it was all charity and goodness, a sign of what a benign country America is. Perhaps, just as Europeans need to grow up and put away childish delusions, so do Americans.

Why did the Cold War even happen? Because we defeated the Third Reich instead of allying with it and defeating the Soviets. Why did we do that? Because America wanted to ensure Germany didn’t get access to Russian resources. President Roosevelt encouraged Poland to goad Hitler into invading so that World War II could happen. Churchill, meantime, needed his debts paid off, and was used by both Roosevelt and the Jewish lobby to make the war happen. None of this was done to benefit Europe, and all of it severely harmed Europe. The idea that we should be thankful to America for intervening several years later to “rescue” us from the situation it engineered is utterly contemptible.

Europeans Love Socialised Healthcare

“The Europeans have always thumbed their noses at Americans. They mock our traditions, they whine about our healthcare.”

A mixed comment. I don’t know about mocking American traditions – maybe that happens, and if so it is silly – but criticising America’s healthcare system is absolutely right. It is a terrible system built to financially fillet anyone who has finances to be filleted. I know several upper-middle-class Americans who go without health insurance because it is so expensive, and simply “hope for the best” regarding illness and mishap. That is a bad system. It is a gross societal failure if its upper-middle-class are not able to avoid avoidable hazards.

And no, I’m not saying that Britain’s NHS is a good system. However, a healthcare system that is at least semi-socialised seems the only realistic way to get modern and humane treatment to a majority of people. America’s system is dreadful. If Brits should wake up about their beloved NHS, Americans should wake up about this.

Europeans Don’t Like Freedom

“We have always had a fundamental disagreement on the government’s role in our lives.”

This point is very over-stated. Most people, on either side of the Atlantic, simply want their neighbourhood to be safe and clean, their education and health systems to work, to be able to afford a family, and to otherwise be left alone in their daily lives. Whether the government is authoritarian or libertarian is much less important to most people than whether these desiderata are being delivered. What’s more, I can easily imagine ordinary white Americans going for rather hardcore National Socialism, if that secured their survival and future and didn’t much change daily life. As for Europeans, if you think they are happy about big government monitoring their private affairs and limiting their freedom, you are simply out to lunch.

Europeans Are Decadent

“Europeans have had a misunderstanding about what it costs to have what they have and are now figuring it out. Fuck em.”

This is probably true, and I suspect Europeans are in for a shock when they realise how much having a competent army is going to cost them individually. (America is going to be resented for its role in this transformation, but without it, Europe will not survive…)

Americans don’t actually care what Europeans think of them, but Europeans pay attention to everything any important American says ever with bated breath since Americans have bankrolled and offered to defend their decadence for the last 80 years. Enjoy boot camp.

Implicit in this comment is the stereotype of the effete, aristocratic European who behaves as if he is powerful while actually being weak and dependent, and secretly suspects this about himself and “acts out” accordingly.

Well, it’s true. We Europeans have to be honest: not having to defend ourselves for 80 years, we have grown flabby, feminine and expectant. We came to bite the hand that protected us, assuming we didn’t need it and would be perfectly safe if America just vanished. But we do need protection, and if we can’t provide it ourselves (or are prevented from doing so) then we must receive it from a third party. We are caught in the bizarre predicament where the third party that protects us is also the party that prevents us protecting ourselves. The result of this is that we have become like spoilt kids – but of course this is perceived very differently by Americans:

Europe is like a drug addict kid. You try and protect them, keep them fed, housed and safe. But they just keep taking and taking while being outwardly ungrateful about it. Then you realize you’ve been enabling them for years, and you make the hard decision to cut them off.

While all this is true, it is only part of the picture. This American cannot see his country’s role in making Europeans this way. He believes it is acting benignly and not being properly appreciated.

Europeans Are Ungrateful for America’s Munificence

If we hated Europeans, we wouldn’t have rebuilt and protected it for decades. Problem is you hate yourselves and push it off on us, you don’t protect your own countries from invaders and decry those that do.

Again, this comment assumes America “protected” Europe out of altruism. Rather, it meant preventing European countries becoming self-sufficient. For America, that was the whole point of the exercise: to keep its potential rivals down and stop them from forming a powerbloc that could threaten its hegemony.

He is correct, though, that Europeans hate ourselves for our inability to defend our own countries. It is the self-hatred of the hobbled – but it was America that hobbled us. Even now, we can’t protect our countries from invaders, because we know that at the first sign of such activity, America would be sending the MOAB to “regime change” us and “fortify our democracy”.

Europe has looked down on the US for decades while we’ve subsidized their massive welfare states, and they’ve ruined the greatest civilizations known to man in their arrogance by opening the floodgates to Third World migration.

The problem with this comment is it ignores the role America has had in promoting mass immigration into European countries. This ranges from the late 1940s “denazification” programme to the modern NGOs and initiatives funded by USAID. Israel, America’s “greatest ally”, has NGOs dedicated to filling Europe with non-whites.

Most Europeans never wanted mass immigration. We instinctively knew what it would do to our countries. But those who complained, said anything, stood for election or attempted in any way to combat mass immigration had their lives destroyed. To blame us for what our elites have done to us is absurd, especially since, if we had ever tried to overthrow our elites, America would be the very power that intervened and crushed us.

Europeans Have Nothing To Teach Anyone While They Succumb to Dystopia

Decades of Europeans hating on Americans claiming Europe to be this shining beacon of hope compared to trashy America. Now America is on the rise while Europe turns in to an Orwellian dystopia more obsessed with arresting you for Facebook posts than fixing their nations.

This comment is sadly accurate. It does seem that, while America is going to enjoy prosperity, a Europe newly cut adrift by said superpower is going to devolve into a melange of show trials, kangaroo courts, banana republics, tin-pot corruption and absurd technocratic wet dreams. But all of this was enabled – nay, encouraged – by the preceding 80 years of American domination. Had European countries, in those decades, needed to contend with reality, they would be more acquainted with it now, and more able to handle it. What America – and by that I mean the American government and deep state, not the American people – has done to Europe is like a sadistic doctor lobotomising a patient then releasing him, to drift around the real world.

When Americans see the state of Europeans today, I don’t blame them for feeling contempt. But they should understand it was America that made Europe this way. By nature, Europeans are very different from this and, sans outside pressure, there is no reason we would have become like this. By nature, we feel a deep and profound connection to our homelands (something that most Americans perhaps struggle to comprehend) and we would, by nature, be defending our lands and our people ferociously. The European elite of today is a disgusting castrato imposter, but it was put in place by an America that had decided Europe’s “historical moment” was over.

For America, the price of maintaining Europe’s weakness was being its military defender (and dominator). That price has become too high for a bankrupt America to pay as its empire recedes from the world stage. It leaves behind a deluded, broken and weak Europe, because such a Europe is what said empire required in the 20th Century.

With such a contentious topic, I am obliged to close with a conciliatory message that, though our differences are real, they are surmountable. It requires that each side becomes a better version of itself – the Europeans less complacent and smug, the Americans less arrogant and blasé about their own country and who actually runs it.

I have gone through various complaints and, really, there is truth to all of them. But in the end… so what? Every family has tensions and legitimate problems, but remains a family. The same must be true of us, Europeans and Americans, and we should try to see each other in that way instead of as strangers, or causes of trouble. If we ever doubt how much we have in common, just glancing at the non-whites around us should be an adequate reminder.

I don’t know whether we need each other, but I am certain that the task we have ahead of us will be easier if we are on good terms. A great wrong has been done to us – on both sides of the Atlantic – and righting it will be the work of centuries.

We must not stew in victimhood – that does not become us and is not worthy of our ancestors – but at the same time, true progress requires understanding that we, Europeans and Americans alike, are victims. Various foreign tribes want to pit us against each other before wiping us all out. Whenever we dwell too much on our differences or our resentments against each other, we make it that bit easier for our mutual enemies to confound us and destroy our works – the European Old World and the New World, and the future worlds we could have built together.

Let’s not do that.

    Outstanding essay.

To borrow a phrase from American statesman Benjamin Franklin, who spent a great deal of time in Europe and respected Europeans very much, Whites, in both Europe and the United States, must all hang together, or most assuredly, or we will all hang separately.

According to crime stats, we’re hanging separately.  This POTUS was our last chance to fix our demographics to not become a minority.  Not only did he fail, he denied us a political solution; may he rot in hell.  With no political solution means we are headed for dark times, we & our children are headed for a lot of pain.  We are being attacked now & we’re still the majority.  The only way we are going to survive what’s coming is to join forces & plan our future in a country that was once ours.

Europeans and Americans are not the roaches, vipers and jackals who rule over us. We must remember that. We must work to elevate ourselves and rekindle our spirit. This petty bickering is the behavior of insecure boys in a schoolyard, not the behavior of dignified men with gravitas who are the descendants and stewards of a noble and accomplished race.

This bizarre empire that Empire became opened itself and its rivals to foreign predation. We must reserve our contempt and natural impulse for rivalry and conquest for the vile and degenerate rulers who did this and who accelerate this atrocity against all of us. Above all of that, we must seek the good in ourselves and each other. We must foster a culture of seeking and active cultivation of all of the best within us and we must lead the way and set the example of what it is to be an ethnic European; it is to be exemplary in all things.

We face the same fate. We are a stateless people within the borders of every single one of our homelands. We must embrace each other and aim high. We must reserve scorn and contempt for those who prove themselves in opposition to our existential and moral aims. Like it or not, we are in a shared struggle and only a people united as a nascent Pan-European people and Imperium will survive the long, heroic journey to the next peak. Will we be the bickering tribes or will we hold the banners and the golden eagle and rekindle the purpose of the legionnaires from a golden age that, if so united, we can build anew?

The author of this entry is either disingenuous or not very bright if he blames Americans for the importation of non-white savages into Europe. That ongoing program was developed and guided by jews and some useful idiot Whites born, bred, and led in Europe.

I wouldn’t say that it was Americans who forced Europe to accept Third World immigration.  In Britain, it was Attlee who started the thin end of the wedge.  In West Germany, the government called for “guest workers” to help rebuild – but they never went back.  In France, De Gaulle was okie-dokie with non-White “French”, just not too many – and now there are too many.  In Sweden, Jewish influencers applied pressure behind the scenes.  In each of these countries, successive governments doubled down on these problems, contrary to the will of the people, and it’s a massive taboo to go back even 2.41 centimeters on population replacement migration.

That said, we’re all in this together.  The US government has been doing this to the public since 1965, after Ted Kennedy lied on the Senate floor that this wouldn’t change our ethnic composition.

Non-white immigration to Western European countries could not have been in the Americans’ best interests during the Cold War, seeing how Communists tried to exploit racial conflicts within the US. Since the same is true for non-white immigration into the US itself, the immigration phenomenon itself already proves that a power that has neither the Americans’ nor the Europeans’ best interests at heart has been effectively in control since the 1960s.

        Addenda:

I think the cultural transformation of the US during the 60s has to be seen as Left-Globalist and Anti-American in nature. Exporting this ideology from the US to Western Europe is neither Americanization nor part of an American political strategy.

America-based actions of certain groups/ideologues != American actions

That was an interesting read and a good summary of Trans-Atlantic perceptions.

One point I want to comment on:

American defense spending being extremely high is also half a myth, because as % of GDP it is comparable to most countries in the world. It is Europe that is spending too little (and believing to be morally superior because of it). When you see graphs that appear to show US defense spending being higher than that of the next N number of countries combined, you are being deceived by Left-leaning foundations who deliberately choose to make a comparison in nominal GDP, rather than according to power purchasing parity (PPP GDP). Because you can get much more done with 1,000 $ in Russia or China than in the US, we have to use PPP. Last time I checked, the combined defense spending of Russia and China (in PPP GDP) was close to that of the US. Four further points are relevant here:

most Eurasian countries would fight at their doorstep, while the US has to cross an ocean to meddle in Eurasia -> much greater logistical costs
area-denial technology allows you to shoot down airplanes and hit ships with rockets that are far cheaper than their targets, putting a power that counts on its air force and navy at a disadvantage
ground forces are what matter the most, and the US lost the will to fight large ground wars with Vietnam (as Spiro Agnew wrote in his memoirs). This effectively has made the US almost a paper tiger that can basically only win against thoroughly inferior enemies (e.g. Afghanistan) or as part of a large coalition (e.g. first Iraq War – see what Samuel P. Huntington wrote about the limits of Western power in that context)
adding the defense spending of America’s allies (Europe, Japan+South Korea) would put the American-led side clearly ahead of Russia + China, but, spending (even in PPP) does not linearly correlate with fighting power, because there are “base costs” for maintaining a military bureauracy. In Europe, there are dozens such bureaucracies which from the EU perspective is inefficient

America-as-a-militaristic-country is a central myth of Anti-Americanism dating back to the middle Cold War, where the Left was very interested in decreasing American commitment to defending foreign countries against Communist states and movements.

That said, the “unipolar moment” following the fall of the Iron Curtain and the misuse of American military power during the Bush era do lend some credence to the idea (particularly if you ignore for whom the Bush era wars in the Middle East were actually being fought).

There are, or at least used to be, lots of ’Murica fans in Europe, myself included. I’m from Finland and you can imagine how cool America looked to a kid living next door to Soviet Union. In my mind America was free, prosperous, magnificent, the land of the good guys, it had everything, and top that off with an image of Chuck Norris kicking Commie ass! That was my view of America for three decades, and it changed not because of the common American people but because of corrupt elites and a foreign tribe.

O Peter. How can you hate the British when General Cornwallis did warn you at his surrender in Yorktown way back when.

Although his surrender speech is long down the memory hole in brief he warned that under the all-seeing eye of Freemasonry all religions would be infiltrated by Judaism and that America too would be working for world government.

If anyone has his surrender speech I would love to read it for myself.

You are right but the version I read was during a private meeting between Washington and Cornwallis to discuss terms of surrender; Cornwallis stated that, “You have won but now the all seeing eye will be upon you.” This conversation was recorded by Washington’s private secretary and subsequently published as a book. The really interesting thing is that Congress had all copies of the book gathered up and destroyed, that by itself shows how powerful the Jews in America were, even back then. It has a supernatural feel about it. I think it is what Stanley Kubrick was trying to warn us about in the movies The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut—the worshippers of Baphomet! 👁️

Frankly, America is a project in which the white race has failed miserably. We could have created a second Europe there, with cities like Rome, Florence, Paris, Seville, Vienna and Prague. With Gothic castles and cathedrals, Renaissance palaces, Baroque and Rococo mansions. Instead, we have a kind of liberal Mordor ruled by Eastern Jews and full of niggers and mestizos. And not only that: a terrible evil has spread from America to the rest of the white world and now threatens to destroy our race and with it all civilization and culture. Yet often the genetically best part of our peoples have emigrated to America: we see this in the beautiful American blonde women with their plump figures bubbling with personality. But unfortunately today these women are getting disfigured by hideous tattoos and copulating with black men.

“Given America’s prominence and power, it would be strange if its citizens did not have a certain amount of arrogance about their country.”

I can assure that I have no arrogance whatsoever about America. Its culture is garbage. The few good elements are all derivative iterations of superior European originals. Every time I travel to any other developed nation, I am struck by how much more intelligent and attractive the people are relative to the hideous, ungroomed, obese morons I see everywhere in America.

Perhaps there was a time when America was great, but it’s never been even decent in my lifetime. Frankly, I’m doubtful that it was ever actually good. Even at foundation it was comprised of social detritus cast off from Europe and sociopathic capitalists uninterested in anything but their own wealth.

The most patriotic people I meet are, without exception, politically clueless. The people who spout this anti-European stuff are just flat out retarded. You’ve been overly charitable in taking their ideas seriously. If you were to talk to these dullards face to face rather than online, you would understand within ten seconds that they are unworthy of speaking to you.

True, it’s pointless and degrading to engage with the “rah-rah” crowd. Unfortunately the disease of egalitarianism has enabled this endless noise of squabbling morons. One of the greatest challenges before Europeans is to restore the most vital elements of the aristocratic culture.

It’s obvious to me that two world wars has destroyed the genetic inheritance of our best men. Had America kept out of these fratricidal conflicts the European order would have been preserved and the entire White Race would be better for it. Our race has been in a never ending retreat since Stalingrad and every year it gets worse. Woes is 100% spot on that we should have been HELPING Hitler defeat Communism instead of destroying Europe to preserve and spread Zio-Communism.

Excellent essay, Woes! Very spot-on. Worth an annual Counter-Currents subscription all by itself.

I would like to share an observation or opinion that I made many decades ago.

I am not trying to pick on the inestimable Germar Rudolf here, whom I greatly admire.

But at an academic conference or something like that Germar made the point that the situation in his native Germany and Europe with their Thoughtcrimes Laws was something “imposed” upon those countries (i.e., by the USA, nominal bearer of the First Amendment).

Well, I greatly differ with that assessment.

Germany and others have to take credit for the rats and lice of their own people (mainly their leaders). And the USA has to do the same (of course). Only then can we change things!

Let’s look at an example. Frau Merkel of the CDU was an old school Commie raised in East Germany who as Bundestablishment Chancellor let in over a million Darkie immigrants into Germany as “refugees.”

Yet some Germanophiles (ostensibly our guys) are in love with her like she’s a Heidi Klum supermodel who did not actually have a Negro breeding partner.

In my opinion, Frau Merkel should have been dealt a stiff dose of strong pesticide (in Minecraft and with full due process) of course. We can discuss it at least.

Also, the USA is for all intents and purposes ethnically German, although the current Hispanic or Mestizo invasion is challenging that status. The only three states that are still majority-Anglo are Maine, Idaho, and Utah. The later two is because of the missionary work that the LDS or “Mormons” did in England that contributed to settling the American West in the 19th century until after World War II.

I have a fairly dim view of parochial or petty-nationalisms that are not broadly “White.”

I don’t really care if the Poles still want to practice their Slavic language and worship the Pope, or continue to nurse WWII butthurt about, for example, SS-Obergruppenführer Erich von dem Bach-Zelewsky leveling the insurgency in the Warsaw Ghetto and then telling the marsupial Victor’s court at Nuremberg what they wanted to hear after the war that it was all directed by anti-Slav ideology instead of toward illegal wartime combatants (General Bach did treat them as lawful combatants when they finally surrendered).

I have the same indifference with the Germans being “Germans” again, whatever that means nowadays.

If it helps, Ashkenazi Jews have always viscerally hated ethnic Russians, Poles, and Germans ─ in that order.

I can do a patriotic American thing as well as anyone, although I am not strictly a Confederate, nor a Westerner any more than a damn Yankee. Yes, I do have some Connecticut 17th century heritage. My proud ancient roots are mostly English with lots of Scotch and Welsh thrown in. And it was all before the 19th century in America, sons and daughters of the Pioneers. None of my family came over to America comparatively recently through Ellis Island nor did they wear Fievel hats.

The important thing is and always will be White solidarity.

Like the Germans of the Third Reich, we can’t be Bavarian Catholics, and Prussian Protestants, Austrians, and Danzigers, etc. We just have to be “Germans.”

And today we are not Poles, Russians, Germans, English, Irish, Scandinavians, Americans, Canadians, etc. We all have to be “White.”

How we move forward here is one of the most important questions of our times. We have to get it right and do the essentials before it is too late.

    🙂

“Now, there is no such thing as ‘man’ in this world. In my life I have seen Frenchmen, Italians, Russians, and so on. I even know, thanks to Montesquieu, that one can be Persian. But as for man, I declare I’ve never encountered him.”

      -Joseph de Maistre

I am not “White” and I’ll never be as I am primarily what I was born into. I’ll remain a south-western Pole, without Catholicism, russophobia, WWII grievances, still practicing my language and tribalism. Au contraire, to oppose the ever-growing tide of slop-politics I embrace the particularism, to the extreme if necessary. Instead of fake gateways like sexual identarianism it’s necessary to embrace one’s clan and tribe. Our roots and unique cultures are not some petty artifacts in service of some great “white universalism” (to be put in some generic, fast-paced 20-second meme music video). They’re the last redoubts against homogenization. A brotherly salute to fellow European identitarians, hoping they can preserve the remaining vitality of their peoples as well.

Let the new Medieval begin on the corpses of liberal empires,

Well, I’m not sure what is gained by balkanization. A race needs to be able to define itself somehow. And nations need some bright-line definitions of Blood and Soil to draw their border lines. There may be many particulars to work out.

There’s no goal, only a recognition of the upcoming cycle. Races and nations are products of major historical developments. Balkanization is a term to describe a certain kind of political disaggregation where the former center collapses and new ones rise in its place following a period of conflict. The mutual hostility arises from competition and unadressed disputes from the past. That doesn’t mean that every political dissolution is marked by extreme violence and strife. The borders and lines you mentioned are always either re-drawn or eliminated in favor of new ones.

Whenever a Big Dream collapses [whether it’s Soviet Communism, Yugoslavism, (EU)ropeanism, Americanism, Free Worldism etc.], the ethnic/tribal clan identities are the most natural power bases to fall back on. Depending on a particular case it might mean the disaggregation towards a nation-state or a further breakdown if that form of polity cannot be reliably maintained. Eventually a new order emerges and new great dreams are weaved by the dominant groups.

I believe that the best course of action is to oppose the last gasps of the Western liberal hegemony (before it transforms into something else) and become prepared for a period where complex systems (created at the apex of this civilization) will either devolve or become more restricted and exclusive. Liberalism has been the ultimate aqua regia of politics from the Age of Ideology , but like everything else, it’s slowly running its course. The benefits from getting dissolved by it are becoming less and less attractive in the long-term.

Instead of trying to litigate the past or hoping to completely reverse the major developments of the present I believe in an approach that combines the oppostion with a preparation for a potential future in various scenarios. Minor actors and individuals have little choice in shaping those developments anyway.

While I agree that pro-White is absolutely essential, I do envy the fact that, even if coloreds and jews were removed from our histories permanently, I reckon Europeans have a much better sense of identity because the upside down pyramid of race, ethnicity, nation, region, neighborhood, family, and yourself are all aligned in a vertical continuum thread like a Russian doll, each identity level slots neatly within the other. In an ideal world where our enemies are annihilated, the Swedes are dominantly singular in race (White), ethnicity (Swedish), nation (Sweden), with a unique ancestral inheritance transmitted down to your progeny in a Fascist unity of all within, nothing outside, and nothing against Us. In amerika, I have noticed that personal identity is asserted ethnically only if it is dominant, singularly monoethnic-like Italians, whom I grew up around in NYC, whether completely de-Italicized and don’t speak the language nor traveled abroad or an ethno-conscious family’s active engagement with Italianness at a distance. They never celebrated White pride in Brooklyn (yes, guineas wops are antique-hued White and no less European than Helsinki) but plenty did for Italian pride, or Greek and Irish pride where the racial homogeneity presupposed the ethnic, but it was the latter that was openly celebrated because it is at the ethnic level where ‘a people’ is located as one individual’s extended family but requires racial oneness fiercely suppressing miscegenation-tendencies towards any outgroup encroachment. Greg is correct when saying when breeding you should do so with someone people mistake as your brother or sister. If the native Japanese are mixed with mongolians, filipino, indonesian, and lao, they are still yellow but cease to be blood Japanese even of they are ‘I was born here’ nationals of Japan. Same with us. White people are not a White person’s people. Their ethnicity is, with monoracially-required national sovereignty to ensure their prosperity and protection within a State’s territory. A world-of-their-own closed society ensures a people’s uniqueness, an actual diversity of neighbors but not in the same house. Does anyone here find it odd that we become amerikan-as-identity only when we are outside amerika, to an Asian or European? Within amerika, “American” is really a stars n’ stripes brand that is politically asserted with verve by raceless and multiethnic Whites (normie goodgoys) against antiWhite democrats. It’s strange to me that White amerikans, even the proWhite ones, only identify as White and that’s because they have a multiethnic composition of Eurostocks within themselves. Ethnic self-identifiers here tend to be Greek, Italian, Irish, Ukrainian, or Polish. Nobody has every heard of an English-amerikan. Multiethnic Whites here when asked ‘what are you?’ will say ‘I’m White with this percentage of Scottish, French, Dutch, and Polish,’ so their identity must by default be spoken of only racially (White) because there’s no relation to a single ethnicity. If you meet a Japanese man, their nation and racial composition (yellow) is obvious. A salmagundi all-White ethnostate will still not be a people cause they don’t look as ethnically homogeneous as indians or koreans. White anti-Whites or indifferentists (we all bleed red types) in amerika, if of multiethnic blood, identify by place if such has a strong enough gravitational field of attraction and history known beyond the local. They’ll proudly say their home is New York City, or California, Texas, or the deep south (even a negro will be embarrassed to rep Wilmington, Delaware for lacking the ‘coolness’ of Compton or Chiraq) but the tragedy of White amerika is that unlike africans or koreans whose affiliation is blood-bound, too many Whites here are raceless, stateless, and without an ethnicity of one so their group identity becomes either a political party, sexual identity, religion, or the popular state/city you’re from. I truly am jealous of a racio-ethnically homogeneous people with roots in a place and so that’s why I, despite their turdworldization, envy European peoples who know who they are and see amerikans-as-nationals only when we are outside amerika. Perhaps this place should have just been Europe West with clear identitarian demarcations to avoid farragos of confusion.

I would definitely encourage white Americans (and all whites) to study the old European cultural canon of history, philosophy, religion, literature, art and music. A high degree of cultivation of this sort can largely compensate for that terrible American uprootedness.

I agree, and for the last three years have been following a robust reading program of British history, because that’s 75% of my heritage. Today I found myself reading three books at the same time about the James I period: the Walter Scott novel Fortunes of Nigel, the Victorian History of the English People from 1603 to 1683 by John Green, and the modern popular history of the Gunpowder Plot by Antonia Fraser. All print books from an American public library. It’s not like work, it’s pleasure reading.

This comment puts well the tragedy of “Whiteness” as primary identity. It’s ultimately an American Anglo-Saxon ad hoc tool to overcome the trouble of European multi-ethnicity in the New World while opposing the non-European elements imported there. However, it won’t replace the true ethnic identity that comes from the accumulated traditions of sharing the common genos and topos. The American nation is still too young to put it simply and already faces the great demographic challenges of our century.

After some years of observing this side of political divide in America, I have no idea how to overcome this. It seems that civic nationalism has always been baked into the American polity in one form or another. Inertia is a powerful force and it often expresses itself in things like culture. Adding the fact that the XX-th century turned the US into a modern commercial/technological empire complicated things further as imperial maintenance tends to “retreat forwards” from the ethnic divides by means of economic prosperity (the 80s nostalgia) and jingoism (anti-Europeanism).

There have always been some cultural differences that each side met with disdain, but in my lifetime what I recall as a prominent moment when this stuff boiled over was when several European countries refused to participate in the Iraq war in 2003. I remember the boomer “rah-rah America #1 crowd” being absolutely irate over this, and although everyone now agrees the entire war a huge mistake, the undercurrent still seems to be there simmering.

Warren Balogh and Striker are convinced the strike against iran will happen this summer. I have no idea how amerika’s military will be able to pull this one off again cause dei blacks, transgenders, and mexicans are not the ones the regime wants to go out there. They need Whites. Will conscription work if there’s too few volunteers? After all the antiWhite messaging, who would still be on board fighting for this place?

Mullah Iran should have been dealt with over 45 years ago. Islam is not our friend.

But the answer is, NO, there is not going to be a general war any time soon. At best, there is a threat of some pinprick strikes for “tail wagging the dog” purposes, that may or may not be diplomatically advantageous.

I like Warren and Striker but their military analysis is not exactly on par.

Though grossly inadequate, Trump has done more keeping the Global Interventionism Complex at bay than any President since Carter, who was peddling multi-level Human Rights marketing instead of rattling sabers when hundreds of embassy hostages were taken, and then taking advice on nuclear nonproliferation from his teenaged Yippie daughter, Amy.

As far as reintroducing the Draft, most kids today would not last five minutes in Basic Training. And I don’t think the country has several trillion inflationary dollars to blow now like they did chasing non-existent WMDs in Iraq.

If American whites want to do something for whites in Europe, they must work to consistently cut off liberal and woke political non-profits from American public money. The same goes for all whites in Western Europe, Canada and Australia when it comes to money that goes to “democracy promoting” and similar scams in Central and Eastern Europe. Remember that even relatively small amounts of American, German, Norwegian or British taxpayers’ money are wreaking enormous havoc in countries like Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic or Poland. Whole armies of liberal anti-nationalist journalists, activists, politicians and academics are paid and armed with it. They put enormous pressure on the authorities and the judiciary to persecute local white patriots (who are dependent only on their own meagre resources).

After WWII America destroyed the fine public transportation systems of its cities, that were much like Europe’s, on behalf of automakers and related industrial concerns (e.g., rubber manufacturers), making everyone dependent on autos, with all their expense, death, and destruction of the environment. A crass commercialism took over. Americans became worse and worse. WWII was the signal event in this down spiraling: prior to this, Americans were more cultured. There is much to elaborate on here.
