The Counter-Currents 2023 Fundraiser
Counter-Currents at the Crossroads
David M. Zsutty
I talked today with Greg Johnson about the Counter-Currents Fundraiser. Our goal for 2023 is $300,000. We are now at $120,006: only 40% of the way to our goal, with six weeks left in the year. This isn’t looking good, folks.
Exactly a month ago we announced that a generous donor offered a $1000 matching grant for first time donors. The vast majority of our readers do not donate. His goal was to get some of the free riders to begin supporting us. In that month, we have had $719 in first time donations, for which we are very grateful. There is still $281 left of the matching grant. Again, this isn’t looking good.
I asked if some big donors might swoop in to save us. He replied: “I’ve already spoken to our major donors from last year, at least the ones I can reach. They’ve done what they can already.”
I asked about medium sized donors. He replied: “We are reaching out to them now, but we have gotten about a 10% response so far. We’ll see how it goes.”
I asked Greg what his means, and he was blunt: “Cutbacks. Imagine coming to CC one day and finding that some of your favorite writers are no longer there. Imagine fewer articles to read, fewer podcasts to listen to, and fewer books to browse. Imagine ideas that you champion having less of a presence in the world and less of an impact on it.”
This is disheartening, because the world is finally catching up to us.
- In 2011, the idea of the “Great Replacement” was coined. Since then, it has gone from the margins of White Nationalism to the mainstream of the Republican party.
- When Counter-Currents was founded, the idea of secession was marginal in White Nationalist circles. Now “National Divorce” is a mainstream Republican meme.
- When Elon Musk bought Twitter and declared he was making it a free speech platform, the organized Jewish community spearheaded by the ADL cried out in pain as they struck with a campaign of defamation, blackmail, and boycotts. Two months ago, the suggestion that the ADL be banned from Twitter for attacking the platform — championed by Keith Woods — went viral, and Musk himself responded to it.
- A month ago, Israel and Hamas went to war. The Israeli response has been twofold: horrific war crimes on the ground and ridiculous propaganda in the air. Jews are baying for blood. Their hypocrisy reeks as badly as the morgues, graveyards, and rubble of Gaza. Moreover, it has never been clearer that our political class is subservient to Jewish interests while being indifferent or hostile to white interests. In the past, White Nationalists muttered about this on the margins of the internet. Now the discussion of Jewish power is mainstream and global.
- But it has gotten even better. Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Charlie Kirk have pointed out that major Jewish donors who are threatening to pull their money out of the Ivy Leagues over anti-Israel sentiment on campus were happy to bankroll anti-white hatred on campus. Jew-naming has gone mainstream.
- But I can beat that: Elon Musk has openly called out the organized Jewish community for promoting anti-white hate. Beyond that, he has rejected the idea that whites and only whites should feel guilty about our history and identity.
No one person can take credit for these changes. But none of them would have happened without our movement. And Counter-Currents has been an increasingly important part of that movement.
Now that the world is more receptive to our message, we should be expanding, not cutting back.
But that’s entirely up to you. What do you want in 2024?
- Do you want the Homeland Institute doing more polls — or fewer?
- Do you want to see more articles and livestreams by Trav LeBlanc or Pox Populi or yours truly — or fewer?
- Do you want to see more videos by people like Jim Goad and me — or fewer?
- Imagine everything you like about Counter-Currents: Do you want more of it — or less?
One road leads to growth. The other leads to cutbacks. But there’s a toll on the road to greatness. If you want more, you’re going to have to pay for it. We have already cut fat and are cutting into muscle. Any more and we may have to cut into bone.
One of the reasons the Right tends to be ineffectual is a tendency to hero worship. We keep hoping that a man on a white horse will swoop in to save us. It is easy to believe. Nations have been saved by Great Men. Look at what Elon Musk has achieved.
But too often, hero worship is just an excuse for inaction. Maybe no big donor is going to swoop in to save Counter-Currents. So we will all have to do our part.
At the Siege of Eger, common Hungarians had to step up to defend their homeland from the Ottoman Empire. It seemed impossible. But with creativity, camaraderie, and courage, they vanquished the superpower of their day. Many small sacrifices coaleseced into a big victory not just for Hungary, but for all of Europe. I would ask that you, too, stand with us during a critical moment in history. It is in times like these that small contributions can have big impacts.
Greg Johnson once said to a donor who apologized for not being a millionaire, “Don’t apologize for giving what you can. If everyone simply gave what he can, we would have no problems at all.”
I know you want to help. But we need to hear from you today.
There are many ways you can make a difference, but the easiest is with an e-check donation. All you need is your checkbook.
E-checks don’t work for donors outside the US, but there are other options to explore on our newly-redesigned Donate page.

There’s so much I want to do in the new year. Thank you in advance.

Hey, David!
I finally ponied up. It’s only $50, but as a first time donor (and constant commenter) that will bring in another $50 for the matching grant.
Old habits die hard, so I’m cutting back on some of my vices. I want to make donating a more regular thing.
Thank you and the entire team at Counter-Currents for providing the most intellectually stimulating and relevant commentary on race and what it means to be white.
I had only made two New Year’s Resolutions for 2023:
Get my wife pregnant. Our son is due in February.
Donate to Counter-Currents. I just did that.
Anyway, I call upon other readers to donate what they can. There are no better advocates for our cause than the plethora of brilliant minds that work here.
Cheers!
Congratulations, Edmund! And thank you.
Congratulations and thank you! Your donation will help build a brighter future for your child.
Thanks so much!
I am so glad to hear of your forthcoming little bundle, and this is quite a donation to all of us. I know you will have many new expenses this coming year, but we sure enjoyed reading of your awareness of the changes you will be making. I hope you will be an inspiration to many of our readers who might be ‘sitting on the fence’ regarding marriage and family. Best of everything to you.
Thank you very much, Alexandra. The key to finding a great mate is to lead by example. I didn’t beat my wife over the head with my beliefs. Slowly but surely, she came to see the light on race. Empathy can go a long way.
And thanks to everybody for the kind words and support.
You’re all just reaffirming that I made a wise move to donate. There is a real sense of community here. I’m honored to be a part of it.
Tried donating for the first time, using btc. Hopefully it worked!
Yes, it did! Thank you so much.
A perennial problem. I value this site along with a very short list of others. For next year what about increasing the subs by 10% or 20 dollars/sterling or whatever? Also, without giving too much away, how about a CC lotto? We could contribute 5 of whatever currency a month and a designated amount goes to 1 or 3 winners in diminishing amounts, say 100 for 1st, 50 for 2nd and 30 for 3rd? CC picks up the remainder of whatever funds remain.
Now that we are becoming mainstream (even Musk is addressing the JQ) what about reaching out to like minded for a contribution week? So for example, approach PA in the UK ask for a hand with a fundraiser and vice versa.
Whomever is able on twitter or such like, ask if they would be willing to give CC fundraiser a nudge. I will certainly contribute more next year. What about a raffle? We get donations from members and others and we buy virtual raffle tickets for the items we covet from a list on here.
I’ll donate a bottle of fine single malt to such a project and pay for shipping to wherever. There is lots we can do. C’mon CC members, get your thinking caps on and expand your contributions by 5/10%. We either want this to work or don’t. Quite frankly, no more free loading. Step up and appreciate the content or rue the depletion of said content and contributions to that end.
In addition. In these frugal times, what about a poll to vote for the writer of your choice to write for something close to the patrons heart? Commission a piece.
Whatabout a crowdfunder? If CC is deemed contraversial, why not a crowdfund for Homeland Institute. I’m out of ideas for the moment. When more arise, I shall share. Surely we can muster what it needs to not only reach our goal but exceed?
These are all excellent ideas. I need to ask if there would be any legal issues with a raffle. Thanks so much!
I don’t know if you can pick the writer, but don’t forget that one of the perks of being “behind the paywall” is that you can commission an article once per year…
You can suggest a writer, but I can’t command them. Though I try!
I’m up for the task, if someone wants my take on something.
I think the biggest problem when young people say they have no money for charity or causes, such as CC, is because the basic teachings about finance have never been taught in our schools. The simplest thing is ignored — just opening a saving account at a bank. You may need your parents to co-sign for you if you are too young, but actually having an account of your own starts you on your ‘financial way’. Just adding 10% of all money that comes through your hands will allow you to see how fast things add up. Learn about interest rates — both the interest the bank charges you for lending to you, and the interest rates of Certificates of Deposits which pay interest to you. You’re off and running.
Next, when you begin attending college — even just community college — take classes in finance — even though you are majoring in Literature or Music — and hone your skills. And above all, do not fall into leftist tirades that ‘rich people are evil and are mean to the poor.’ There is no way you can help the poor if you do not have money.
I’m older now and have made money and lost as well, but have enough to get by in the coming years, and send what I can to CC, because they have added a great many ideas to the college classes I learned many years ago, and have shown me many new paths that help me understand the insane politics we are mixed up in today. CC alone is an entire Master’s Degree in History, Economics, Politics, and certainly — Race Relations. But the people that give millions to Harvard and Princeton etc, would never consider giving a penny to us, because they know which side of reality we are on. They know we are their well-educated opponents. Help keep our voice heard.
Amen to all of this. It is good advice. You need to rule your money or you will be ruled by the lack of it.
I thought to add to this comments section, you can also donate when you purchase books from CC. That’s what I am going to do. Purchase two more books and make a donation with it.
Some people might like to do it that way.
Perhaps you should auction off any remaining copies of Michael O’Meara’s “Toward the White Republic” — it’s listed at $500 on eBay.And what ever happened to O’Meara? He was an absolutely brilliant writer.
Basically, he became depressed and bitter about the movement. I can’t blame him. But it was terrible to lose such a talented and learned man. The last contact I had with him was in 2015. He wanted his book taken out of print, so I complied. I have one copy of the HC and PB editions, and I believe he signed them. (They are in storage now.) So I don’t have any plans to let go of them.
How do those giftcards work with CC? Amazon wants a receiving mail address, which one would I use? Is there one that doesn’t give away the receiver too easily? Quite a topic in my place is getting blacklisted by banks for donating even to bloggers of centre-right. I would like to give but I have a responsibility to my family not to lose the business via bank-cancellation for donating.
Thanks for helping out.

Thank you, David and Greg, for all you do for us, your people. I made a small dent in the fundraising goal deficit.
