“I fear that I have awakened a sleeping tiger.” — Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto
One of the consolations of old age is the advantage of historical perspective, of obtaining a degree, at least, of self-awareness and objectivity. Old men seldom laugh or weep, not due to emotional dysfunction, but because at a certain age one has seen it all, and very little comes as a surprise. Generations of humans come and go, but human nature remains fairly constant. As such, as one ages historical and behavioral patterns become more easily recognizable.
One of these patterns is the realization that—contra Dale Carnegie, Norman Vincent Peale, Joel Osteen, and all the other positive thinking hucksters out there—first impressions are almost always wrong. The Unite the Right Rally at Charlottesville on August 12 was initially viewed as a catastrophe for White Nationalists. The news coverage was universally condemnatory, the optics horrible, and the lack of an effective response to the unconstitutional actions of Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe and the Charlottesville city council made Unite the Right appear to be “The Gang that Couldn’t Shoot Straight.” One can make the same claim for the attack on Pearl Harbor. Here was a stunning defeat for the United States, but as the Japanese invasion fleet was steaming back home in triumph, Admiral Yamamoto was depressed because he realized that the failure to deliver the killshot to the American fleet meant the inevitable defeat of Japan.
Charlottesville was supposed to be the killshot that took out white advocacy for good. The Democrats and their Republican junior partners in the nation’s uniparty political establishment couldn’t sprint fast enough to the nearest mainstream media microphone to denounce as a Nazi anyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi. The cucking was of such a transcendental nature one came away with the feeling that if Mitt Romney or John McCain had been successful in their presidential bids they would have awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the membership of Antifa.
Yet, in less than a month, Antifa has been revealed to be a criminal organization and has been designated a terrorist group by the federal government. Antifa has become such an albatross for the Left that Nancy Pelosi and even certain organs of the Lügenpresse have been forced to distance themselves from the Soros-funded band of trust-fund terrorists. President Trump’s initial denunciation of Antifa now seems prescient. Once again, Democrats and the GOP establishment have been deprived of an issue that in their fevered and fetid imaginations they believed would leave to Trump’s downfall.
The news keeps getting worse for the Left. Due to unforeseen blowback, the city council and mayor of Charlottesville are now accusing each other of incompetence in the ordering of the police to stand down during the Antifa attack on the Unite the Right rally. The head of the Virginia State Police now directly contradicts Governor McAuliffe’s narrative about the events of August 12, and normies who had been dismissive of White Nationalists before are now beginning to view it as a reasonable alternative to the communist thugs of Antifa.
Furthermore, the rally in Charlottesville forced the Left to reveal its strategy and tactics. They will not be able to replicate the events of August 12. And so heavy-handed have been the attempts by the corporate allies of Antifa to deplatform and defund white advocates that even Leftists are starting to worry about civil rights and personal freedoms in an America beholden to a hammer-and-sickle corporate oligarchy.
This brings us to the second historical pattern that is applicable to Charlottesville: the Left always overplays its hand. This tendency by the Left to double down when it smells blood appears to be congenital and is undoubtedly rooted in the Left’s cosmopolitanism. Lacking self-control and self-awareness, bereft of logic and wholly consumed by an inchoate sense of rage, the Left lacks the patience and discipline to hold its fire. The self-loathing of most leftists contributes to a self-destructive quality that is peculiarly left-wing in nature.
By attacking innocuous gatherings in Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, and elsewhere in the days following Charlottesville, the Left has shown itself to be against free speech in general, not just the free speech of white advocates. By calling for the removal of statues commemorating Union heroes as well as those of the Confederacy (as well as those having nothing whatsoever to do with the Civil War), the left has shown that it is not only anti-Confederate but also anti-American (which is to say, anti-White). In the last month, the Left’s Antifa shock troops have done more to radicalize normies and send them in the direction of White Nationalism than would have been thought possible just a few months ago.
The wave of deplatforming and defunding is also a case of the Left’s inability to control itself in the midst of a blood frenzy. If they had done this in a slower and stealthier manner, the Left would have probably had greater success. The Left’s ham-fisted tactics have caused white advocates to accelerate tech development programs and has engendered a spirit of cooperation hitherto not seen among movement’s various organizations and factions. While the Unite the Right rally never got off the ground, ironically, the unethical behavior of the corporate Left has actually brought about real unity on the Right. For example, not everyone is a fan of The Daily Stormer, but everyone admires the heroic efforts of Weev and Andrew Anglin in keeping their website up and running, thereby giving a giant digital middle finger to Google and its Silicon Valley cronies.
This should give the Left pause: If Weev and Andrew Anglin can run rings around a Leftist behemoth like Google, imagine what a united Right can accomplish. But the cosmopolitans at Google can’t stop. Now they are threatening to deplatform and defund anyone who has the temerity to write an article criticizing Google, even if the author is an avowed Leftist. By overplaying its hand, Google has accelerated calls for it to be regulated as a public utility and to be broken up by anti-trust action.
In the end, the billionaire would-be Che Guevaras of Silicon Valley are going to destroy themselves. Like most cosmopolitans, they lack circumspection and a sense of proportion. Patience and perseverance, being virtues, are qualities that the Left lacks but are the chief weapons of a vigorous and unified Right. What appeared to be an insurmountable loss for the Right on August 12 is now being seen as a Pyrrhic victory for the Left. And as King Pyrrhus of Epirus said of his victory so many centuries ago: “Another such victory and I am undone.”
Three cheers for the undoing of the Left.

I can accept some of these arguments; the overall outcome of the event so far has turned out better than the initial reading, but the dust hasn’t completely settled yet. I doubt it was planned that way though, and more targeted demonstrations would be better. And while we can enjoy positive news when it happens, and praise “movement” success, we shouldn’t we shy away from legitimate criticism:

“This tendency by the Left to double down when it smells blood appears to be congenital.”
Do you mean (((congenital)))?
‘This tendency by the Left to double down when it smells blood appears to be congenital and is undoubtedly rooted in the Left’s cosmopolitanism.’
Lip-smacking good.
Another fine article from Quintilian. I must dispute, however, the notion that “Dale Carnegie, Norman Vincent Peale, Joel Osteen, and all the other positive thinking hucksters out there” would counsel that “first impressions are [correct]”. I can’t and don’t want to speak for Carnegie and Osteen, whom I have never read, to say nothing of “all” of them, but surely Dr. Peale never counseled such a thing.
For example, “The tough-minded optimist takes a positive attitude toward a fact. He sees it realistically, just as it is, but he sees something more. He views it as a challenge to his intelligence, to his ingenuity and faith. He seeks insight and guidance in dealing with the hard fact. He keeps on thinking. He knows there is an answer and finally he finds it. Perhaps he changes the fact, maybe he just bypasses it, or perhaps he learns to live with it. But in any case his attitude toward the fact has proved more important than the fact itself.” (Peale, N. V. (2015). Have a Great Day: Daily Affirmations for Positive Living [Kindle iOS version]; Sept. 1).
Neville Goddard — whom I have both read and written on — in particular, when faced with an apparent rout like Charlottesville, would have counselled applying “the pruning shears of revision,” imaginatively re-enacting the scene with a positive outcome over and over until achieving a feeling of certainty; in this way future events (which, as Criswell says, we are all interested in) will be determined by the more positive substitute reality.
Whatever one thinks of their methods, both would certainly have counseled a positive, can-do approach to dealing with the UTR fiasco, and would not have been surprised by the flip-flop of public opinion on Antifa in the aftermath, as Quintilian documents.
First impressions are important because most people consider them important. As the saying goes, you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. But different people have different first impressions, some far more accurate than others. White Men standing tall for a White Hero? What’s not to love? Of course the media scored heavily because of the accident the next day, but that’s to be expected. Such things are going to happen. But I agree: the media and Leftists overplayed their hand, both immediately afterwards and in the subsequent days. Then we scored heavily.
…the Left always overplays its hand.
Especially now.
Post Charlottseville ’17, the Left is having to face the specter of its own failure.
The myth of the Workers’ Revolution has long since been abandoned. Capitalism is ascendant globally, even in such former communist strongholds as mainland China. And the Left is not going to declare any General Strike when international finance capitalists are paying the rent for “their own” organizations.
The other sustaining myth, that of Equality, has also gone down the tubes as growing scientific evidence demonstrates the genetic differences among the races and the sexes. The after effects of opening the gates of Europa and North America to mass third world immigration is starting to trickle through to the collective Leftist consciousness. No, the Third World does not want to buy them a Coke ™ or hold hands to sing “Children of the Rainbow.” Yes, the Third World is perpetrating mass sexual assaults in Rotherham and Cologne against the same Leftists who displayed those banners proclaiming “Welcome Refugees.” As well, the Third World is burning the cars of progressives as rioting sweeps ancient European cities, and creating de facto No Go Zones carved out like barbarian kingdom amidst the wreckage of countries given over to multicultism.
And this shows that all men are not created equal, not really.
Leftists are slowly awakening to a future in which they are and their children will be victimized and even subjugated by the very forces which they have unleashed.
Faced with the bankruptcy of their ideas, all the Left can do is destroy: tear down statues, terminate dissenting IT engineers, make clumsy attempts to de-platform the ideological opposition on the Internet, and generally throw tantrums wherever there is space for safety.
The defeat of Hillary Clinton in November 2016 and the ensuing Leftist meltdown prefigured this situation. No matter that Clinton was supported by Wall Street, no matter that she had the votes of the neo-cons. Her victory was supposed to immanentize the eschaton with the triumph of radical feminism, open borders and beatification of Black Lives Matter. Alas for the Left’s delusion, Trump’s presidential victory scotched that millennium and triggered the first of many waves of mass hysteria.
All it took was a thousand or so Alt Rightists making a show of force at Charlottesville on 12 August ’17 and the System went total overdrive bonkers. Looks like that specter of White Nationalism is rising, Chtulhu like, from the depths from whence it was thought permanently buried. And the funny thing is, even though the System has given its best shot, the Alt Right is still in the fight more united than ever before.
There are psychological factors at work here which bear further analysis. It just may be that the Left and its corporate backers are on a knife edge of irrationality. A few blows directed at the right pressure points and cascading vie the Internet could shatter the facade and relegate the corporate-Leftist coalition to that trash heap of history which they once thought was the fate of their foes.
The question becomes: what kind of campaign does the Alt Right need to launch to exploit these factors?
“Lacking self-control and self-awareness, bereft of logic and wholly consumed by an inchoate sense of rage, the Left lacks the patience and discipline to hold its fire.”
We should beware of underestimating our enemies. “The Left” is far from a unified beast; and those parts of it which generally guide it, it seems to me, cannot be described in such dismissive terms.
“Are you optimistic enough to believe that in this chaotic world, some people’s ideas are clear enough that they belong exclusively to the Left or the Right?” –Daumier, Fellini “Otto e mezzo”
A different perspective could consider the US as: the Left; the Right; and the Republicans, including the deep state and military leadership. Republicans care only about the US – “The Union”. Republicans care about maintaining the US and its position in the world, which means holding the “empire” together at all costs. The Republicans would embrace a Lenin-Communist state without hesitation. And this is what we are beginning to see in the Current Year.
My first point is this: the Republicans are not “natural” allies of the Right. They are going to walk away from everything historically up to VE-Day. They will ultimately become part of the left so the post-modernist path taken after the great wars can be maintained. (This is why Noam Chomsky recently spoke about the negative aspects of antifa – he knows that if antifa goes too far, the government will start to slide towards the AR.)
The Republicans have already surrounded Trump with “acceptable” types – after VA, Trump is contained. In the Current Year, Republicans consider Trump to be a fluke – they are willing to wait until the next election when an “acceptable” candidate can be fielded. In recent weeks, Francis Fukuyama, James Baker, the House Speaker, The Pope, and the former president of Mexico have released statements against the white racial solidarity movements. This is an early warning: it’s not just the AR vs. the Left – it’s the AR vs. the world.
And my second point: the battle for America is simple – the last one with the “football” wins.
The truth is with the AR. But things are going to move much more rapidly now after VA – much more rapidly than anyone expected. (It’s not unlikely that the US government is in some form of contingency-mode at this point.) On election night, GJ made a post that was essentially a sigh of relief. I commented that we had about 30 months.
As of today, the AR has about 4 months to get candidates ready for the 2018 congressional elections. The themes should be simple – lies if necessary. The hope should be that about 80-85% of white men side with the AR. About 62% of white men voted for Trump in 2016.
