Gregory Hood’s recent goading of “Beltway Rambos” highlighted the kind of psychological shift that’s going to have to take place in the minds of Americans—in the minds of men who consider themselves American patriots—before they “start shooting people.”
Are beltway conservatives going to peel the “God bless our troops” stickers off their SUVs and start mowing down the Marines?
Probably not.
In his January 16, 2013 press conference on gun control, Barack Obama said that pundits and politicians and special interests lobbyists will call him a tyrant to “gin up” fear or ratings or money.
But we all know there’s no real money in treason or sedition. Pundits and lobbyists and politicians are going to stop short of saying anything that threatens their six figure salaries. If Congress passes the gun control laws Obama wants, they will be the first to hand their guns over to the authorities. Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh aren’t going to jail for freedom or anything else. If they do, well God bless ‘em, but I just don’t see it happening.
What about the average NRA member? What about the average Ted Nugent-loving, Wal-Mart shopping, flag-waving, Budweiser-drinking, GODDAMN PATRIOTIC WOLF SHIRT-wearing, buck-hunting, God-fearing gun owner? What about the guy who prides himself on being a law-abiding citizen and still tears up when they sing the national anthem at the beginning of baseball games? Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and Wayne LaPierre aren’t going to dig in and fight anyone. It’s the average American gun owner—the average American patriot—who is going to have to say “NO MORE” if this thing is gonna go down.
What’s it going to take for that patriot to become a traitor?
Because—make no mistake—that’s exactly what he’s going to be. That man may believe with his whole heart that he is making a brave sacrifice to defend America from tyranny, but Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and Wayne LaPierre will call him a “nutjob” before the echo of his first shot fades. Republicans will injure each other in a wild scramble to denounce him. And it goes without saying that the anti-gun mainstream media will surely make a monster of any man who uses “violence” to cause social change. His former friends and neighbors will tell Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow every dirty detail of his personal life and all of them will conclude that he was “always a little bit strange” and that he probably had some sort of “psychological problem.”
What’s it going to take for that patriotic man to make peace with the idea of being publicly smeared, abandoned and charged with treason, and know that he is—at least legally speaking—guilty as charged?
What’s it going to take to peel off that red, white and blue and give everything he has for something new?
Well, for starters, that man is going to have to abandon all hope that he can vote his way to a better future. He’s going to have to let go of the idea that the US is governed by “We The People” and he’s going to have to accept the fact that it is governed by “those greedy assholes who don’t care if I live or die.” He is going to have to know—not simply fear—that the future of the Union is their future, not his. The agents and agencies of the federal government will have to become every bit as evil in his mind as the Stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire. And frankly, that’s not so big of a stretch. After all, Lord Vader has an almost endless supply of fantastic weaponry, nuclear death stars, and armed drones to deploy against any rebellion. Hell, after a couple drinks and a pack of Marlboro Reds, I bet old Obama can probably even do a passable James Earl Jones impression.
C’mon, imagine it.
“I find your lack of faith disturbing.”
“Commander, tear this ship apart until you find those plans!”
“If he could be turned, he would be a powerful ally.”
Do you see? I’m tellin ya, all the man needs is a mask and a cape.
Jokes aside, the point is that real red-blooded American patriots are going to have to pull off a major mental gear shift to go from lawn-mowing registered voters to wanted—and hated—outlaws.
This is where folks online have the opportunity to present some cojones.
Every time some guy on the right actually pulls the trigger, even the most radical anti-state writers look to find fault in his actions. They want to distance themselves from his actions and armchair quarterback the man. Well, like Teddy Roosevelt said:
The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.
America is cracking. There may not be one breaking point, but there are going to be men in the next five years who reach their own breaking points. There are going to be men who decide a particular issue is their hill to die on. They aren’t going to be perfect and they are going to make bad decisions and they will absolutely be portrayed as unsavory and unlikeable characters by the media. They may be men without prospects, men who slipped through the cracks, men who failed at this or that in life. They will, in all likelihood, be the kind of men who have nothing else to lose, men who decide that taking a stand on an issue is more important than living to shop another day.
What are YOU going to say about it?
What are YOU going to write about that man?
Are you going to nit-pick everything he does or doesn’t do?
Are you going to write something disparaging so people won’t think that YOU are a dangerous kook, too?
Or are you going to have the courage to say:
“Here is a man who stood up. Here is a man who stood up for freedom. He wasn’t perfect, but he did something to hurt a system I hate, too.”
Are you going to be willing to let that traitor be a hero?
Are you going to let that traitor be your patriot?
Because that’s where it starts.
We don’t all have the skills or the software to be warriors.
But we can honor them.
In a virile society, that’s what writers and storytellers are supposed to do.

*shrug* you still have some concept of America as a unified political and cultural entity that stretches from sea to shining sea. This last election proved otherwise.
Some of us, after the reality of the last election smacked us in the face, have moved beyond the idea of a still-unified Union. This beautiful idea of “The United States of America” is… dead. Time to be open to other ideas and directions.
Secession. After the slap of it hits you in the face, just… think about it.
I have been. Its not pleasant but it probably is necessary. I also think about the idea of a White ethnostate, thats more cheerful though even that can be tinged with gloom. There are fter all a smattering of very decent people of every race and the ones that aren’t White enough are going to have to suck the consequences of that . Being White its not my problem per se but I dion’t have to like it.
That came out wrong, White people are my people. The others while I allow myself some compassion for decent foks are not and thus not my problem .This is of course is a legacy of my Christian background but its not going anywhere.
No, America is definitely a divided nation that needs to break into pieces. I hope that’s exactly what happens.
I know a lot of smart people who think they should keep America united as objective #1.
I don’t think they can do it without failing at every other object.

Now is the time to think big and if America needs to be “rebooted” then the same goes for Canada and it is time to think along the lines of a Fortress North America. While a North American Union is not exactly a new proposition this is not the time to be taking the fetal position but the opposite – fix our metaphorical bayonets and charge.
Albion’s Seed spread across this Continent and made it what it is. Simply by being ourselves rather than emulating “the others” would tighten our grip on our home and by keeping out of the homes of others they would have a place to stay and not need to come here. And that would be a giant step forward.
As to the idea of standing to praise “nutjobs”, it depends on whether they really WERE nutjobs, or if the media declared them so.

Indeed, let us praise and mythologize our real heroes loudly and proudly. But avoid the trap of thinking any psycho attached to the liberty or WN movement is a hero. Sometimes a murdering psycho is just a murdering psycho.
If your first thought and response is to praise the largely defenseless target of the evil (e.g., Randy Weaver and his family) yet vilify someone who actively strikes a blow at those who would kill you (and, BTW, are actively genociding your kind), I think you have already proven that you don’t have the stuff it will take to turn this ship around.
If your “stuff” is fapping it to the genocidal, mass-murdering psycho Anders Behring, then you’re right. I have different stuff, and I don’t want your stuff, and I’ll fight your stuff to the death.
I’ve daydreamed about the moment camouflaged American men take to the woods ever since reading 1984 in high school and having to suffer through Clinton’s presidency.
Add further, the average Conservative’s fascination with a Louis L’Amouresque “self reliance” (including the classic “Last of the Breed” wilderness-survival-while-opposing-tyrants motif) and you’ve got the stuff young boys’ dreams are made of.
I can’t help thinking, though, this article shares the hopeless desperation of Winston in 1984: “If there’s hope, it lies in the proles”.
As one who has daydreamed of armed resistance (and who might be eccentric enough to seriously consider it), I’ve realized that as I’ve aged, I’ve gotten more and more cynical. I really couldn’t care less about this abstract thing called “America” anymore.
What I do care about is me and my loved ones. One need not risk life, limb, and a good name, for them. One need only slip away to a deserted part of the world and live out a happy life on a rural farm, smelling fresh-cut hay, listening to crickets, and watching the sun-set next to a beautiful wife in a porch swing.
At best, this might require a little black-market, dissident, scrambling.
But rebellion? Why bother?

I don’t think there’s anything metaphysical or deeply emotional about an abstract, propositional nation, though I do recognize that men have been swept up into the fervor.

To be more effective at this kind of rebelling you should also post on “conservative” sites with links to articles here. A good place to get a course in tactics of rebellion is whitakeronline.org or whiterabbitradio.net.
I suspect you are trying to sound cynical for the effect. No day dreamer is a true cynic.

You are absolutely right here Jack. I am slowly but surely coming to grips with the fact that I cannot reason white people into embracing nationalism. What I am asking of them is just too much in the short term. I am asking them to become, not literally a criminal in the sense that a post-prohibition gun owner would be, but a de facto criminal, a thought-criminal, an outcast. Most people are just to conformist to do that. I still talk to people about white nationalism, though, because that is the only way anything will change. When it gets to the point that everyone knows a white nationalist, the media won’t be able to demonize us the way they do now.
Its not bad enough for the remenents of the educated middle class yet and becauise they still cling to status they are constrained by the “rules” that forbid them from looking out for their own race.
Not the laws, there are countless ways to avoid those but the rules. Their rules of their very class forbid it and so to keep what they have, they obey. Middle Class people Gods bless them have no freedom.
The working class is another matter but too many people in our society (and I am not counting you among them) think of them as smelly brutes. They are a good target since they have some freedom to just be themselves that the Middle does not.
Also don’t use reason, facts just make people lock up . use emotion.
Make them feel good to be White and threatened for being White and they’ll go along with you. I’ve seen plenty of examples and plenty of studies that show this, reasoning is useless till you reel them in.
heck if people were suceptible to reason we wouldn’t have half our troubles now.
A last point, if you ever watch some speeches by a certain famous mustachioed Austrian, you’ll see a lot of passion and very little content. Its mostly vageries “A more complete system” blah blah blah and feel good stuff and a variation of hope and change rhetoric fr Depression Era Germans.
Messaging like that works for mosty people and so long as you keep to your honor, so as you claim its moral as well.
make them feel than armor them with facts and when you real them in, do as your promise. That wil get the job done.

I’m old enough to remember this, older than Thich when he died.
His sacrifice was a major cause of the fall of the Cahtolic/Western leanding regime and ultimately to loss of the war by the Westernized Vietnamese and the “round eye” foreign army they came to depend on.

I think the impetus for a paradigm shift is there, but the shift is, as of yet, sluggish and cumbersome. What remains to be introduced is a catalyst. I am not yet certain if Obama possesses the psychological faculties and will to impose that catalyst. But I most certainly believe its arrival is imminent – its gloomy apparition awaits us o’er the horizon. That moment will be the decisive point. Many a “patriot” will find that he loves life and living, no matter how miserable an existence it may be, more than the vigorous struggle for individual sovereignty. Such men will shrink into the shadows and cower like startled animals. And there will be “ordinary” men who will find deep within their hearts the ancient Soldierly virtues – men who will sally forth all that is noble and upright in man. These men will be the true patriots – those that shall have the day. What manifestation of new government they shall yield, I know not – but I cannot help but speculate with wonder and interest. I must ask of those within the New Right – what are your thoughts on a Northwest Bastion? A stronghold of liberty and nationalism in what would be the former states of Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and the Dakotas?
