Thank you both, I really enjoyed the interview. The only thing I’m slightly reticent to agree with is Vox’s optimism in that Europe will save itself from these invasion(s). He appears to underestimate the strength of media like the BBC, Sky and left wing newspapers like the Guardian and Independent. This to me is as big a problem as unchecked immigration itself. Whilst, as you rightly point out, there is a ground war prosecuted by thousands of migrants claiming to come in peace. There is a much more sinister less tangible war by media for the minds of the indigenous that seems to wrap around and embrace that of 2nd 3rd generation ethnics. If it’s anti white nationalism it can only be perceived as progressive. It’s extent is astonishing and there seems to be no real effort to balance it. Except from people like you. I’ll look into your work more now and note your recommendations.
    Thanks again

I once saw a decades-old newspaper advertisement for a line of men’s clothing that featured a photograph of Leonid Brezhnev wearing an astonishingly ugly polyester leisure suit. Those famed eyebrows of his added just the right touch of comedic grotesquerie. The devastating caption below the black-and-white picture read “All the propaganda in the world can’t make a cheap suit look good.” By the same token, all the propaganda in the world can’t make demographic decline’s cheap suit look good either. Anti-White media merely can postpone the day that human nature inevitably reasserts itself. In time SJWs and our other enemies will get a lesson in what it really means to be on the right side of history, and get it good and hard.

You are onto something here. I have been staying in a major metro area for the last week for some consulting work, moving among a few different hotels to visit sites in a 50 mile radius from the center. I am astonished by the ratcheting of the brazenness of the behavior of the invaders since the last time I made a trip like this a few years ago. Loitering, loud conversations late at night, dirty looks in the parking lot. 15 years ago these annoyances existed when I went on these trips, but they were uncommon enough that they were dealt with by cops or management at the mid-range hotels. They are accepted now. I just turn on the AC and go to sleep, for I am certain that if I went outside alone to confront them, it would end in violence or vandalism later to my vehicle. If I weren’t headed back to my place in the country after I make some cash – if I didn’t have complete relief from this in the near future – I would have to engage them. It has nothing to do with being a tough guy. I would simply not be able to tolerate it at some point and it would be them or me. I am sure that millions of people are feeling this. I could ignore the fact that this problem exists if I never had to be around it. When a critical mass of people *have* to be around it with no escape is when things change suddenly.

As I stated at Mr. Day’s own site, now, that is a good interview. In fact, it’s the best Vox Day interview I’ve encountered yet. Johnson asked Vox the right questions, those that enabled him to introduce himself to unfamiliar readers; he eked out the most important points of the new book; but the interview also featured (and this was the most interesting segment) a worthwhile debate between the host and interviewer on white identity, in which they offered different perspectives that were both thought-provoking and which both had merit. I think I lean towards Johnson’s inclination in that regard, but Day did point out a critical stumbling block.

My own disagreement with Day’s remarks would be with regard to the success of Hispanic identity politics. I cannot fathom the idea that Hispanic politics can be considered anything other that massively successful (from their point of view) and deleterious to white America, given that they have managed to keep an endless flow of their kin coming in across the border. Only the Jews (and probably women) have been more successful at identity politics, in terms of how they’ve benefited their own kind.

An excellent discussion and worth hearing in full.

I have to side with Greg on the issue of White identity in the US. Vox is correct inasmuch as being White isn’t yet an identity that people rally behind or one that someone would necessarily identify as when asked the question, “What are you?” or “Where do you come from?” But Whiteness is basically a default identity for most White Americans. If someone were to say “White people are X” everyone who is White will understand that the person is saying X applies to them and/or their people. And certainly in any situation involving non-Whites, White people are very conscious of their Whiteness.

I also find it strange that Vox thinks that the Irish, for example, have not been totally assimilated. As an anecdote, my brother and I were at a party this weekend with all of his friends he went to high school with. From the outside looking in there would be absolutely no way to tell that these people were not all the same culture/ethnicity. If anything, someone might be able to pick up that everyone there was raised Catholic. Since these people were all friends of mine and I’ve asked at one time or another, I know that the European ancestry of the individuals there ran everything from English/German/Irish/Lithuanian (that’s me, more or less), Irish/Italian, Greek/German/Scottish, Italian/German, Greek/German, Polish/German, Irish/German/Italian/English, Lithuanian/Polish, etc. No one was of a single European national origin. All would have readily identified as White, though they would have likely identified Catholicism as part of their cultural heritage.

I haven’t listened to this yet, and after reading some of these comments, I’m in no hurry to do so. Irish not totally assimilated?

In the last analysis, it may not be prudent to have someone who does not identify as White lecturing those who do as to what their identity is or is not.

Setting aside for the moment all questions of plausibility and veracity, if you found yourself in possession of the magical ability to make SJW heads explode like in Cronenberg’s Scanners merely by claiming to be a Mexican and therefore demonstrably not a racist, would you? My question is strictly hypothetical, of course.

He says that people don’t identify as white if you ask them “what are you?”, and he uses that as his proof… The reason why no-one says “white” is because it would be as stupid as saying “male”/”female”. It’s so obvious it’s implied. If anyone doubts that white identity is the default, just turn on any tv show, or watch any movie, or listen to any leftist, etc etc

The problem isn’t that people don’t identify as white, the problem is they ONLY identify as white. One’s ethnic heritage has become a mere talking point, or a potential “spice’ in one’s life. Hell, people my age don’t even know the names of their great-grandparents, let alone who they were or what village they came from.
White identity by itself is too vague and abstract, and I think the lack of tangible identity has left us vulnerable to attack. Because people don’t know who they are, they’re more likely to believe the leftist narrative of history. A narrative which essentially asserts that Europeans acted as one, spent all of their time oppressing non-white people, and now we must all pay. If people had a true sense of their ethnic and familial identity, they’d be more likely to know real history, and less likely to fall for big lies.
Also, “white” is a little too universalist by itself, and is only one step away from “human”.

At the risk of putting words into Vox’s mouth, I believe the points he made about the lack of white identity and the relative lack of Hispanic political power were as follows.

Most minorities have explicit, positive (in the sense of active, dynamic) racial identities. They are able to celebrate, and spend a great deal of energy, “celebrating” and vocalizing their pride in their racial / ethnic background. They are honoring themselves in the way that is remeniscent of what Colin Cleary advocates in Asatru and the Political: the religion of any people is the honoring of that people as that people by that people. Every group in America essentially does this. Whites _cum_ whites do not. They shirk away from it and feel uncomfortable doing it. (And Hispanics — other than a group of self-elected “spokesmen” do not do it _cum_ Hispanics). In Eurpopean countries, this is not the case at all: each white ethnic group certainly does celebrate its own traditions. In America, the tendency to view things in traditional ethnic terms has the effect of muting and discouraging a broader white identity.

Vox is (obviously) not saying that whites don’t hang out with each other or share in a de facto common white culture. But they only enjoy implicit whiteness, not explicit whiteness. As a factual description of the reality, I think Vox is largely on the mark.

As for Hispanics, his point was that they punch under their weight in terms of _political_ power (and, as Steve Sailer has noted frequently, in terms of cultural power). Their numbers were achieved by non-political means: they walked over the border. Blacks make up around 10% of the population; Hispanics are now at >20%. Now name five black political figures and five Hispanic political figures. The former is easy; the latter difficult if not impossible. Likewise with entertainment, popular music, sports, etc. Blacks are way over-represented; Hispanics are all but invisible in those arenas. The people who do push a “Hispanic” identity and agenda are doing so out of anti-White sentiment, not out of a true sense of identiy: they are only kidding us, not themselves. They know (and their constituents: the various Spanish speaking ethnicities know) how to work the system and they know that pushing a Hispanic agenda will be good for each of those ethnicities and bad for whites. The main “Hispanic” de jour who made the “white privilege” TV show isn’t even “Hispanic”; he’s Philipino…

Again, I see little to disagree with there. Vox did not spell it out in detail in the interview to this degree, but I believe this is the kind of thing he was getting at.

Excellent interview. I hope Greg does this again as there are a lot of topics of mutual interest that he could cover with Vox.

I agree with everything you’ve said here in general.

But Vox did seem to be saying that most White Americans would more likely than not identify with a single national-ethnic identity rather than the broader racial identity White. And for some reason he did say that Irish-Americans (apparently among other White groups) were not fully assimilated.

“But Vox did seem to be saying that most White Americans would more likely than not identify with a single national-ethnic identity rather than the broader racial identity White”

That’s the sort of nonsense that I’ve spent years refuting over and over again, apparently to no avail.

There are solid reasons for differences in the “success” (*) of ethnoracial nationalism between the USA and Europe, other than the majestic superiority of narrow ethnonationalism. These include but are not limited to:

        1. The greater professionalism and competence of leadership and membership cadres
        2. Within Europe itself, continental Europe has always had more developed nationalist parties and movements than the UK, for reasons which are likely deeply rooted in cultural and historical phenomena. The overseas anglosphere, including the USA, have seemed to inherit this more muted propensity for nationalism.
        3. As discussed by Le Brun in a podcast, social pricing is much weaker in Europe than in the USA. Yes, Europe has “hate speech laws” but I believe that social pricing is a far more potent force in stifling dissent. Even with factor #2, if you relieved social pricing in the USA, racial nationalism would flourish. But defeating social pricing would require real leadership (see #1).
        4. in America, social pricing is strictly reserved for White racial activism, which is what the System fears. You want to organize an Irish-American, German-American, Italian-American, etc, club at your school or place of business? No problem! Looked on benignly. Organize a European-American club? Oy vey, the racism! Then Day’s SJW’s would really come out. Don’t you think people know this? Don’t you think we need to break that barrier to have success?

*I put “success” in scare quotes because people are grossly overestimating the power of ethnonationalism in Europe where an outright invasion by young NEC and African males is being greeted with the enthusiasm of a sex starved female virgin getting screwed by a lustful alpha male.

Being old enough to have seen and remember the famous “I Have A Dream” speech, I seem to recall that before the great Black Trojan Horse began his catastrophically successful campaign against us, there was, even among the second or third generation EuroImmigrant populations on the east coast where I grew up, a tacit but real sense of common Whiteness.

I think that our current weak identity is partly, indeed, very largely, due to its having been destroyed quite recently by the insidious and cancerous notion of “racism,” a fraudulent notion –perfectly equivalent to the pre-modern terms “witchcraft”– aimed precisely at getting us to pathologize ourselves and surrender to the savages both among us and on our former borders.

I take some hope from the fact that the strong national identities of Europeans are not eternal. German and French and Italian, etc were formed out of disparate earlier and more local, tribal and regional identities, often within the last hundred and fifty years. I hope to God (and the Gods) that our people, the Sons of Europe, will wake up and realize that no matter what we currently think we may be, for the rest of the world, we are The Whites. And the sooner we make this central to our identity, the better. Otherwise, we will surely be destroyed.
