Lara in Dresden: Auf den Spuren des Feuersturms

Lara is back! If you recall, I hadn’t been too impressed with the first YA novel featuring our young heroine. Fortunately, author Markus Pruss has now gone back to his roots and turned the second installment into a comic book.
Pruss, a historian, first appeared on my radar as the author of The Liberation of Nemmersdorf, a comic book with an extensive section on sources and historical research. The same recipe has now been applied to Lara in Dresden: Auf den Spuren des Feuersturms (On the trail of the firestorm). Strangely enough, the reader is being left in the dark as to who did the artwork. The signature next to the last panel just reads “Bo’2025”.
As the title of the booklet implies, Lara and her boyfriend Leon visit Dresden and get to learn about the infamous RAF firebombing of February 1945 – from none other than David Irving himself who just happens to be around!
This is actually a useful little guide to take along on your next visit to Dresden, and was probably intended as such. From the Splittereiche (splinter oak) to the memorial at the Altmarkt, from little signs like the old red LSR markers (Luftschutzraum, air raid shelter) on buildings to the burned cobblestones where the dead were burned in huge funeral pyres, there are still many traces of the firestorm to be found.
Lara then returns to Dresden, to take part in the 75th anniversary commemoration in 2020 at the Frauenkirche. The commemoration as an event has been the object of a tug-of-war between the good democrats and the evil far right haters for years, as you can probably imagine, which is why Pruss ends the story with the sobering fact (my translation):
At the beginning of 2024, the Green building mayor [head of the building department] had the inscription [on the memorial] “To the victims of February 13” removed – without direct consultation with the city council, but on the advice of the “Working Group for February 13th”. Instead, there is now a removable stele that reduces the 250,000 dead of Dresden to 25,000.
It needs to be stated, though, that the Working Group denied having anything to do with the removal of the inscription. Their idea had simply been to remodel the memorial – whatever that means.
Philip Stein of the Ein Prozent network explained what is going on with the removable stele that Pruss mentions:
Shortly before the 79th anniversary … the city decided to secretly remove the “traditional” memorial plaque at the Altmarkt and instead erect a mobile, almost shamefully small stele. This stele is not only an act of radicalization and desecration due to its undignified form, the text embedded there also focuses on the supposed guilt of the Germans. It is a memorial to the cult of guilt, which – let that sink in – is “mobile” primarily so that it can be removed for festivities such as the Striezelmarkt. What else is there to say about this state at this point?
Ein Prozent decided to step in. On February 12, 2024, the network erected a massive stele containing an open flame in front of the Frauenkirche. Tellingly, just hours later, on the night of February 13, the anniversary of the bombing, the fire department was called in to extinguish the flame, and the stele was then removed. Oh, the irony. Philip Stein had something interesting to say about that as well:
The removal has a political dimension. The Germans must not and are not supposed to know what a dignified commemoration can look like. Instead, we tend to flee to foreign countries – the commemoration is in Israel, in Ukraine, wherever, but a commemoration in Germany, on German soil, for the German victims – that is not allowed.
While the story of Lara in Dresden is just eight pages long, it is followed by the much longer dossier “The Dead of Dresden – A Balance Sheet”, in which Markus Pruss meticulously lists the known numbers of dead, as well as which sources he considers trustworthy or not. He arrives at the number of 249,134 dead, including an estimate of 55,000 of bodies not yet recovered. As he explains:
The losses from the firestorm in Dresden were so incredibly high and even decades later, victims are still being discovered during construction work. The historical commission estimated over 100 deaths around the Frauenkirche alone, although the actual number is undoubtedly even higher due to undocumented victims. Schaarschmidt’s work “Dresden 1945” makes it clear that the huge number of bodies made proper identification and counting practically impossible. From the end of February 1945, “dead areas” were therefore sealed off and many bodies remained unrecovered for many years. Later recoveries often came across so-called “ash corpses”, which crumbled to dust when touched. After the occupation by the Red Army, the recovery of the dead receded into the background … However, as the unburied corpses posed a risk of epidemics, special corpse recovery detachments were deployed from July 1945, which worked until 1957. Many cellars that could no longer be penetrated were simply filled in and new buildings were erected over them in the 1960s. As a result, dozens of victims are probably still buried in Dresden’s vaults today.
Lara seems to have been turned into a sort of brand by now (Laras Rebellion). I’m not on Instagram, but you might want to check out what is going on there. I think it’s interesting that they chose to go with a female protagonist. Because if the target audience is simply teenagers and young adults, then the pink stuff might not appeal to the male half of that demographic. (Even though the AI images of Lara vary between attractive and borderline jail-bait, to be honest.) So I have to conclude that Lara’s creators are trying to reach young women in particular, which is an unusual but interesting approach that I fully support.

The atrocities which the allies inflicted on Germany during WW2 and shortly thereafter are politically relevant to current events.
Everything the allies did to Germany then, the Israelis are doing to Gaza now: terror bombing, starvation blockade, weaponized rape, and partial ethnic cleansing.
In each case, an atrocity against Jews is used to justify atrocities against the enemies of the Jews. The Holocaust is used to justify the bombing of Dresden, the ethnic cleansing of Prussia, Silesia and Sudetenland, and the literal Soviet rape of east Germany. Similarly, October 7 is used to justify the destruction of all buildings in Gaza, the permanent ethnic cleansing of at least part of Gaza, and the rape of male Palestinian prisoners by Israeli prison guards.
I think Israeli leaders are consciously using the atrocities which the allies inflicted on Germany in 1945 as a precedent to justify the atrocities which the Israelis are currently inflicting in Gaza.
Israeli apologists such as Mark Levin have explicitly made this argument: there is nothing wrong with the obliteration of Gaza – after all, Dresden provides a precedent.
There is a lesson in this for all of us. When German patriots stand up for themselves and insist that what was done to them in 1945 was wrong, they are doing a service for all mankind. But when Antifa insists that atrocities against the Germans were justified, they are providing Israel with a justification for the atrocities against Gaza, and they are also sowing the seeds for future atrocities.
Very true, which is ironic insofar that Antifa usually sides with Palestine against Israel. (As the Jüdische Rundschau, a right-wing Jewish newspaper, complains all the time: caring about the dead Jews of 80 years ago, but never about the live ones of today.) But making this connection requires an understanding of history, which the far Left is notoriously bad at.
You sound like some sort of leftist. What was done to German women and children in Dresden – innocent and defenseless persons of our race – was at least a thousand times more horrific than what the Israelis are doing to the criminal population in Gaza, which, incidentally, brought its suffering upon itself. I have no ‘dog’ in the Gaza conflict, but I care about accuracy. Are the Israelis dropping the volume of bombs on Gaza that the Allies dropped on Dresden? Not even close. Are the Israelis killing every Palestinian they can? Hardly – they give warnings in Arabic before they enter a new sector. The vast majority of Gazan dead have been military age males, not women and children as in Dresden.
And it is Muslim Arabs, not Jews, who are raping innumerable European women and children in Europe this very day. To compare these events and these peoples is despicable, and I’m surprised and dismayed that your comment has been posted.
No one seriously prowhite should trust any self-proclaimed white nationalist who sheds tears for Palestinians. Arabs don’t care about us, and none has never apologized for their ethnic group’s countless criminal assaults on indigenous Europeans. Get it through your head: the Muslim Arab is the enemy of the white man. They’ve been waging war on our people for 13 centuries, right up to today. Let them be on the receiving end of the West’s punishment.
I haven’t fact checked the topic, so I don’t know, and these seems to be some debate around Germany’s later official estimates of deaths, but I saw a clip recently with Normal Finklestein absolutely comparing it to Dresden. And the comparison seems to come up. (I’m not disputing the horrors of that for our people.)
But does anyone, outside of the Jewish propaganda network, really believe Israel are just “getting rid of terrorists” ? Even their most groveling apologists in the media are having a hard time defending this anymore.
We don’t want these Arabs around us absolutely. But you say they brought it on themselves, but how would we behave in their situation, living like this ?
It would seem this is a clear case for the view that everyone is entitled to their own state. It hasn’t happened for Palestine. And then all the problems come from there.
Fessing up, I’m having trouble reconciling this, because I see a good case for a scorched earth policy with blacks, but I don’t think it’s sustainable keeping them in some open air camp that we preside over. And then periodically we encroach a bit more into the camp, drop thousands of tons of bombs on it when they rebel and make a bit more of it part of white world. That’s probably not going to work in the long run in this kind of international order. But that’s what Israel are doing and they doing it because they know they can get away with it and they are using us, the white world, to do it. We’re not getting anything out of this, apart from the havoc, the rapefugee floods from these conflicts in the Middle East and terrorism against us down the line.
To be clear, as these things get misread online easily: I don’t care about the fate of blacks at all and hope I didn’t give that impression. And because of how they are, everything has to be kept on the table anyway.
Jews have cultivated sufficient cultural ‘pass’ (with a lot of emotional blackmail) and political and financial influence to get their way in the Middle East so far, but Israel’s situation isn’t ideal. We probably wouldn’t seek to live like Israel exactly.
Start from the underlying principle that peoples needs their own space first, and yes that needs to be enforced.

Have we secured white living space, and a safe future for white children? No? Then you shouldn’t be sniveling over the fate of the Palestinians. What happens to them is none of our business. I don’t think we should be giving aid to Israel (or any other countries), either, but no one should kid themselves that Muslims would be well-disposed towards whites but for America’s strong support for Israel. The liberal “culture of memory” creates the greatest absurdities.
In Germany, the German victims of WWII are not allowed to be remembered, but in the Czech Republic, on the contrary, we are constantly force-fed guilt for the displacement of Germans after 1945. It almost seems sometimes that perhaps they toiled on plantations and were black (perhaps some woke young female journalists really think so!). Liberal “historians” also constantly find fault with the Czechs for the persecution of Jews and Gypsies during the war as if the country had not been occupied by Nazi German Reich at that time. Of the Czechs killed during the war, only those associated with the Anglo powers now fit the bill. Sometimes liberal ideologues have a dilemma when, for example, the same guy killed in WWII was a communist (=BAD) but also Jew (=GOOD). And now we are not even allowed to remember the dead Red Army soldiers (= bad, bad, BAD Roussians+ communists), even though a large number of them were in fact Oukrainians.
Why would you want to commemorate the Soviet rapists who occupied your and held back country for half a century? The Soviet Rape Army should be spat and shat upon at every opportunity.
The image of “Soviet Rape Army” is not solidly grounded in facts (as the image of the Germans in WWI and WWII also isn’t). Note that it only became acceptable when the USSR became an enemy of the West and an “anti-Semite” country.
I am not defending the Soviet regime – it’s the worst thing to ever happen to my Homeland. But you should understand that the Soviet Army of 1945 is different from a) the Soviet Army of 1921 or 1941 and b) the internal NKVD forces. After 1941, the Army consisted almost exclusively of the Russians born before the Revolution, the original Red Army (which would fit your description) was eliminated during the first months of the war. There were almost no Orientals, either. (They are poor at warfare, untrustworthy, and they were a precious protected minority.) The Army was one of the most Russian institutions in the USSR until about 1980. In 1945, it mostly consisted of more than 10 million Russians (mostly without military background) who wanted to go home, not humiliate the Czechs or the Germans. So, the rape claims are very exaggerated. You can’t enforce rape, and most White people won’t do that to other Whites. I certainly wouldn’t.
The situation with planned atrocities, like bombings or the Morgenthau Plan, is different, of course.
Yet again you try to impose your erroneous outlook on the English-speaking auditory. Here it is sure to fail. You can argue about your beloved Red Army on any mainstream platform; there are enough western mainstream blockheads to believe this nonsense. But this site is mostly for people with solid historic knowledge and deep understanding of politics. So, your fairy tales about “good Russian soldier that saved a German baby-girl” is sure to meet a cold response here.
The undeniable fact is that the Soviet army had committed unprecedented atrocities unheard of since Mongol invasions of 13th century and on the scale unsurpassed by anyone in history. Those crimes remain unpunished. But any unpunished crime is an impetus to commit a new crime. It is precisely what we can see now. The army of maniacs and professional criminals yet again devastates parts of Europe and yet again threatens to obliterate the whole Europe. The only way to deal with such “saviors” is to treat them with their own medicine on even greater scale.

Even Solzhenitsyn remarked on the barbarity of the rapes, which he was not enthusiastic about, which led to his first internment at the hands of the NKVD jews. We know it was the Soviet Propaganda chief, the jew Ilya Ehrenburg, who ceaselessly agitated for the mass rape and murder of German women and children. Most of the Germans, and other Europeans, who survived this Stone Age Asiatic barbarity have been pretty clear that the frontline Soviet troops were usually ethnic Russians and were mostly only concerned with military intelligence, and then they’d be on their way (some even warned the German civilians about the occupation troops & NKVD bastards coming in their wake). It was these occupation units, full of Asiatics, Turks, Muslims, mongrels of all degrees and jews that engaged in the blood orgy of terror. I remember seeing an interview with an ethnic Russian soldier that had warned a 13 or 14 year old German girl in East Prussia who had asked him for bread that she needed to hide, and DO NOT let any of these bastards see her. He said his German wasn’t that good, and he wasn’t sure if she understood him. Well a couple hours later he saw her naked, beaten corpse being devoured by pigs in a pigpen. The guy said even after 50 years he couldn’t get that image out of his head. And the Soviet partisans behaved like this even towards Russian and Ukrainian villagers. So many times the partisans would wear the uniforms of Germans, German allies and especially the uniforms of ethnic Russian and Ukrainian units that were allied with the Germans such as the Russian Liberation Army and the Ukrainian Waffen-SS Divsion Galizien among others. Wearing these uniforms they would commit brutal atrocities, usually raping, murdering then burning down the homes of the villagers and then leaving only 1 or 2 survivors so that other nearby villages would then view the collaborationist units as even worse than the Bolsheviks. The partisans, a large number of which were jews, struck terror into the countryside, which in the first two years of Barbarossa, had generally been amicable towards the Germans and their allies with many welcoming the Germans as liberators. My grandfather’s oldest brother was in the German 6th Army and was captured at Stalingrad. He was one of the first groups of the 6th Army survivors to be released from Soviet captivity sometime in 1949-50. He only lived another 6 years after that, dying at the age of 36 from the “treatment” he received in the gulags, and he was one of the “lucky” ones, one of the estimated 2500 out of the 100,000 that surrendered in Stalingrad to ever see Germany again. I understand that Russians have pride in their grandfathers that fought in the Red Army just as I have pride in my relatives that fought in the Wehrmacht however the Red Army was absolutely 100% far more barbaric than any other army fighting in the European Theatre with the air forces of the Americans and British a close second. That being said, I still view you and other ethnic Russians as our European brothers and sisters and I hope that we never fight each other again.

Yes, I agree almost 100%.
My objection was that some people erroneously think that: 1) the Russians came and raped every woman in the occupied countries, and 2) the Wehrmacht fought Tajiks, Uzbeks and other Orientals.
Point 1 is incorrect, although Soviet propaganda definitely encouraged the worst in people. Point 2 is untrue insofar we discuss actual combat (not shock troops). The libs like part 1, because it provides a convenient framework to talk about “Russian imperialism” (as if we had our government after the White Army went into exile). Part 2 is Putin propaganda’s favourite, although they are afraid to push it explicitly.
Of course, we shouldn’t have fought each other in both WWI and WWII – that’s how we got here.
Also, can you provide a link to the soldier interview, if you have one? I would like to see that.
Excellent commentary! The only drawback is that you try to be kind even when discussing the worst atrocities ever committed against White people. You Germans are too kind and too ready to forgive your enemies. This quality is laudable when applied to ingroup but it is harmful when expanded to others. Russians (and other allies) must first repay their extensive debt, acknowledge their crimes and change their ways. Only then we can discuss any concessions and any future arrangements for their place in the White civilization. Before it is done, there is no sense to be kind to them. 90% of Russians sincerely believe that their “grandfathers” “saved the world from the ‘Brown plague’” and that everyone must be forever grateful to them. This insane view is the primary source of the ongoing atrocious war against Europe (yes, it isn’t a war against Ukraine but against White Europe).

@Let’s All Drink to the Death of a Clown, I fully share your views. The Russian question is a very complicated one. First of all we need to understand that Russians as an ethnic entity are non-existent now. Russian ethnic identity was successfully deleted by Bolsheviks. In its place the new anti-national globalist identity was established. The modern Russian society is permeated with this insane worldview. It is enough to say that, according to poll data, 65% of Russians have positive attitude toward Stalin. Personally, I have no intentions to have any affinity to this scum. Yes, there are many good people in Russia; but their share in the overall population is hardly exceeding 5%. These sane and honorable people are themselves a persecuted minority in Putin’s Russia.
Yet one point is that the Neo-Bolshevik regime exploits the idea of defending Russian culture but in reality it destroys the remnants of it. Russia progressively becomes a non-white Muslim and East Asian country. Its racial composition changes even more rapidly than this in Europe. The Kremlin criminals don’t care neither about Russian ethnic identity nor about Russian culture or language. These are only pretexts for justification of their abhorrent crimes.
The best way for all of us in this situation is to adhere to our European identity regardless of any political games played by ruling crooks. All of them are our enemies. But the Neo-Bolshevik entity is the most immediate threat that must be eliminated by all available means.
The ethnic composition of Soviet Army has roughly corresponded to the overall ethnic composition of USSR at the time. From the overall population of 170 million (1939) 77% were Slavs. No one contests the fact that Slavs carried the main burden of fighting in the war. But it is preposterous to claim that, somehow, they bear nor responsibility for the atrocities committed in Europe. They bear at least as much as their percentage in numbers. Yes, there were some individuals who didn’t want to participate in rape-sprees and mass murder. But they were punished for this, even killed for treason. It was a highest patriotic duty to rape German women and kill German children. Read Joachim Hoffmann’s book “Stalin’s war of extermination”. Any attempt to evade collective responsibility for the committed crimes will lead for more problems.
Even if we leave the rape question aside there is even more obvious topic of mass plunder. The whole Soviet army took part in it. The Soviet Union provided itself with German sewing machines, bicycles, pianos and watches for decades to come. The whole Soviet population, in some way or another, was a part of this monumental crime of dispossession of Germany. Do you acknowledge these hard facts?
Good comments. You can add to your reading arsenal respected mainstream historian Antony Beevor’s The Fall of Berlin 1945, which documents how in some parts of Germany “every female from eight to eighty” was raped by the Soviet filth. This happened to Helmut Kohl’s first wife (if memory serves), who was left permanently partially disabled.
And, per your observation re the looting of Germany, much of the Soviet postwar economic performance (such as it was – and it certainly didn’t match America’s in that period) was based on the wholesale transfer of German industrial facilities to the USSR. Entire factories would be disassembled down to the “studs”, so to speak, and then reassembled in the USSR.
@Wolf Stoner brother, I fully acknowledge everything you have said and it is all true. I completely understand that the anti-White hell we live in today is 100% a direct result of Germany losing WW2. I’ve been trying to convey this message to our brothers and sisters since I was at least 12 years old. I am half German, half Scottish, although my soul is 100% German. I’m not trying to give ethnic Russians a free pass on the crimes of their Red Army grandfathers. I met quite a few Belarusian university students when I worked in Yellowstone National Park in 2002, and they lamented that Germany didn’t win the war so maybe that prejudiced my view of modern East Slavs a bit. It literally crushes my soul when I think about everything that Germany and Europe lost because of WW2..When I see how many of our people today have become brainwashed, degenerate, self hating lost souls because of the anti-White, jewish system we have lived under since May 1945 it makes me reflect on the ethnic Russians and Ukrainians who had lived under a wholly jewish, anti-White regime since the defeat of the White Army in the “Russian” Civil War. Maybe that’s why I have hatred for our own traitors and our natural eternal racial enemies, but I don’t have that kind of hatred towards ethnic Russians alive today. To be completely honest, the people that I encounter the most anti-German hatred and lies from today are usually Poles and for some strange reason, the Irish (I’ve never been able to figure that one out). The noble character of the German soldier of WW2 (and throughout history) can be summed up by one extraordinary man, but is typical of the German spirit, General Helmuth von Pannwitz of the Waffen-SS Cossack Cavalry Corps, who as a German national wasn’t subject to extradition to the Soviet Union yet when the British (whom he and the Cossacks had surrendered to) notified him that the Cossacks and their families would be turned over to the Soviets and a certain torturous death, von Pannwitz told the British, “I have been with the Cossacks since the beginning, the good and the bad, I will not abandon them now and will share their fate.” BLUT und EHRE

Yes, you are absolutely right about Soviet plunder of German industrial facilities. Not only hardware was plundered but engineers and workers were driven into Soviet slavery (otherwise, the local blockheads would be hardly able to assemble and put at work all this hardware). It is enough to mention that famous Hugo Schmeisser (designer of the first automatic assault rifle Stg-44) was captured and sent into Russia to Izhevsk weapons plant. There are enough grounds to suspect that the famous AK-47 is the product of his work. Mikhail Kalashnikov, a Russian illiterate peasant, was appointed by party to be an “inventor”. It was the case almost with all Soviet “inventions”.
I have read Antony Beevor’s book about Stalingrad. Yes, he is a mainstream historian that fully adheres to the accepted “good versus evil” version of WW2 but he is compelled to acknowledge Soviet crimes. Only the most incurable Marxists continue to repeat the Stalinist fairy-tale version of the war where Soviets are the angels that saved the world from Devils.
The best mainstream book on WW2 so far is Sean McMeekin’s “Stalin’s war”. In essence, it successfully dethrones the old myth about USSR being a “good guy”. It puts Stalin’s state in the ranks of initiators of the world war, not its victims.
This is just what liberals do. They find some fulcrum point with which to leverage grievance and use it to destabilize and subvert the normal majority consensus of a society. This is what they have always done from the beginning. The fact that the nature of the grievances might even be contradictory in different places is no matter, because the point isn’t consistency, the point is to do or say anything to disassemble the host.
@Guest the Czechs were treated fine in the Protectorate until the British recruited some Czech assassins to parachute into Bohemia and murder Reinhard Heydrich. I highly doubt the Czech government tries to make the Czechs feel guilty for the mass murder, rape and theft of the Germans in the Sudetenland and other German areas of Bohemia & Moravia. The hatred of Germans and blaming them for everything wrong today seems to be a recurring theme throughout the EU.
I find it so shameful that we won’t defend our monuments. Why can the left can get thousands of people together to tear down our statues, while we can’t gather even a hundredth of that number to defend them?
I’ve come to the conclusion that (white) humans are fundamentally herd animals who, generally speaking, can’t act without the support (or at least acquiesce) of society. And today society supports the iconoclasts and throws defenders of the West in prison.

The left is networked way better than we are. It’s been like this for ages. If they want to get a flash mob together, all they have to do is post to the right distribution list. I’m sure there are some very interesting characters feeding these transmission belts too.

The rarity is basically the same for both populations so >99% of people named “Stein” in Germany today will be ethnic Germans.
I’m surprised how obsessively anti-Roussian this discussion is, even to the point of censoring any posts even remotely friendly to the Roussians. I have no great sympathy for the Roussians myself, they are too clumsy and mixed up with the Mongols and Turks for my taste, but I want the Roussians to fight on our side! Anyone who is serious about white nationalism can’t cut out 150 million white people.
