In his first letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul wrote, “For now we see through a glass, darkly . . .” As with all things in the Bible, it can be interpreted a number of ways. This is mine.
For months, I’ve been writing about the pending Ukrainian crisis. All of my focus has been on how it impacts America’s internal politics. We have a bunch of insane anti-Russians, many of whom are Jewish, at high levels of government, which has destabilized the situation. The American Deep State has behaved so recklessly that I though it likely they would hook America into a war to make sodomy and transsexual perversion legal in Siberia.
Back to seeing “through a glass, darkly.” I cannot emphasize enough that my concerns about the Ukrainian situation were inwardly directed, at America’s policies. I thought that I was stating a great moral truth about this situation. It turns out that I was only seeing half of the situation. I didn’t realize that the Russians — not “the Russians” who “hack” elections, but the real, live heirs of the Soviet Union — would turn over the table.
It turns out that I’ve only been looking through a glass, darkly.
So, in the short term, put on a sackcloth and ashes, reflect on the big picture, and repent. But the time for reforming the dreadful state of America is for later. There is plenty of time for recriminations, the mid-terms are in November, and the primary season for 2024 will kick up shortly thereafter. We still have a crisis on our border, we have the “civil rights” burden, and plenty of other perverse ways that need to be corrected.
Counter-Currents is a website for high ideas. It has become the top clearinghouse for Right-wing thought. Each article is a search for the truth and for an ideal world. But we who search for an ideal world are living in the real world. We are but travelers on the twisting and dangerous road to Jericho. We cannot be like the priest and Levite who selfishly passed by a robbery victim on the road while they split hairs over the meaning of a cruel and obsolete legalism.

I don’t believe that the parts of Ukraine that were captured by the Russians in 2014 were unjustly conquered. I also believe that the American relationship with Ukraine should be one which takes into account the underemployed and deindustrialized heartland of our own vast land. I am still an America First isolationist, but America First and isolationism are separate philosophical things.
And while I don’t side with the extreme version of Ukrainian nationalism, what we are seeing is an unjust invasion of a people in the heart of their own ethnostate. Putin could have left well enough alone. There were many in the United States who understood his point of view and wished that their government would not provoke him. There were no calls for putting American nuclear weapons in Ukraine, even by the insane anti-Russian asylum that is the Deep State. And while the Russian people are not a particularly evil bunch, in the past they have treated the Ukrainians with great cruelty.
A Counter-Currents Contributor in Jeopardy
In recent years, many on the Right have felt oppression. Of all people, an Orthodox Jew who frequently commented on this website was doxed and lost his job. Many others have had personal setbacks and been persecuted for the sake of our cause. But today, as you read this, we have a Counter-Currents contributor in the greatest jeopardy of all.
This writer is under tremendous threat. As I write this, a column of the Russian army that is 40 miles long is headed towards Kiev, so I won’t name her. The Russian military is deploying Chechen units to Kiev as well. As you no doubt remember from the Boston Marathon bombing, the merciless Chechen savages’ known rule of warfare is undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes, and conditions.
I reached out to this writer, seeking a way to send her cryptocurrency directly and attempting to get an interview. She wrote back to tell me that she “believe[s] that this war will bring a totally new world,” and added that “true values revive, and our chances are on the rise.”
Meanwhile, Kiev has been hit by Iskandar missiles and BM-21 rockets. Since that single e-mail from this writer, it’s been silence, and the neo-Bolshevik noose tightens around Kiev.
I thought I would be heartless and uncaring about this war. It turns out I did not know myself that I look through a glass, darkly. Since 2016, we have fought against the insane asylum in the American Deep State. We’ve been arguing for peace. But for many reasons, America lost the ability to deter.
Now that we have lost our ability to deter, sad, unfortunate changes in policy must happen. We should not start World War III. Instead, white advocates must drop our neutrality and come out for Ukraine. We must implore our government to wisely send aid. On the personal level, we need to send crypto to the people we know there. If we fail to support Ukraine in this crisis, all of our other goals will fall out of reach.
UPDATE: Our writer agreed to go public. Her name is Olena Semenyaka and her organization’s website is Team | Intermarium. She describes herself as a patriot of Ukraine facing the horrors of Russia’s war on the country. She is also the Coordinator of the Intermarium Support Group (a project in support of Central and Eastern European integration) and a Pan-Europeanist. She likewise cooperates with Russian identitarians.

It is quite simple, the Kiev regime should surrender and stop squandering the blood of Ukrainian nationalists for the right to join NATO – a right which may never even be used. Russia clearly believes it is doing this out of existential necessity, and the childish and reckless behaviour of the US, EU and Brits is escalating the situation.
If this war wasn’t provoked by failing to let go of ethnically Russian, Russian-speaking Eastern Ukraine, Putin would see no pressing realpolitik reason to “Denazify” Ukraine as a whole. The Russians are leaving a way to exit Kiev, so anyone still there should leave immediately. The insane Jew-led regime is arming convicted rapists and murderers as well as ordinary civilians, creating volunteer militias out of thin air and trying to maximise civilian casualties by operating military hardware from inhabited civilian residential areas.
Nothing except non-lethal aid should be sent to Ukraine and our governments should be told to stay the hell out of it. Western escalation will only increase in more bloodshed over minor territorial losses and the arrogant imperial principle that Ukraine should be free to join whatever bilaterial military alliances it likes, whilst engaging in active conflict with ethnonationalist separatists. The wider Dissident Right is, quite rightly, deaf to the emotional, petulant pleas about Ukrainian ‘Sovereignty’, as this abstract principle has been used to provoke a war with a heavy cost.
This tragedy could have been totally averted. The minute intel showed Russian troops on the border there should have been a call to the Kremlin to try to deescalate the situation. Is hot line linking the Pentagon to the Kremlin busted or something? Years of incitement with the now debunked conspiracy theory of Russia collusion didn’t help matters either. The fact of the matter is that allowing Zelensky to stay in power after the color revolution that took place in return for no nukes and no NATO membership for Ukraine would have been a decent compromise.
Yes, this could have been averted. We fought the lunatic asylum and, in the short term, we lost.
Meanwhile, Putin squandered a great deal of goodwill he built up by this attack. There is no way Senile Joe could have rallied Americans to wage a war of aggression in Eastern Europe. There is only one Jew Putin wants to “get,” Zelensky, his main targets are Ukrainian nationalists.
Now that the war is ongoing, our options are more limited.
In the end, we need to support our own. Right now one of our writers is under threat from a large army. So, now is the time to send some Bitcoin.
You said it right Buttercup. I am with you and Paul Craig Roberts.
‘[F]or many reasons, America lost the ability to deter.’
This isn’t true. The Americans detered a peaceful resolution to this problem with every means at their disposal.
When a NATO client state wins under the valiant commander Jew Zelensky, the chances of nationalists are going to be shoot up into outer space, and ‘Neo-Bolshevism’ (nice honesty there) is finally going into perdition.
Since the Russians are throwing around the term “Nazis,” I felt it was fine to use “neo-Bolsheviks” in this case.
It would be great if this attack was only about the Jew Zelenskey, but it became clear to me that the targets of the Russian attack wasn’t Jews or “globalists” when they stated a war aim was de-Natzification at the UN Security Council meeting. They are coming for the Ukrainian nationalists.

Soon in Berlin.
There are African foreign students in Russia too. And what is stopping the Russians from importing Africans into Ukraine, to rub their face in diversity, if they win?
True, but when free trade, visa-free regime, market capitalism and safety break down, diversity follows suit. When it comes to the process of reversing diversity, Russian tanks are the WORKS. Until you can show to me a different path and it’s actually proven to work, I’ll stick with what I know works – the Russian motorized column and a bad battle plan.
Russia would surely colonize a conquered Ukraine with the sweepings of the Caucasus and Central Asia, because that’s what empires do to hold on to power.
I am not supporting ZOG and its Jewish-led client state that is trying to get as many white people killed as it can before Russia wins.
The Ukrainian government is instructing its people to make molotovs and throw them at tanks. It is handing out guns to civilians and instructing them to fight the Russians coming in with armour.
How can you conscionably support that?
Israel voted to abstain when this matter was brought up at the UN Security Council.
The where and how to fight ZOG is in America with ideas and voting.
The Ukrainians are choosing to fight on their own. Their government cannot really make them fight.
The Ukrainians deserve an ethnostate. I don’t feel that the ethnostate should contain traditional Russian areas, but they should live free of Russia. They have no chance at a peace summit without support. If they don’t get an ethnostate, this could wind up another Syria, but in Europe.
This invasion has changed the dynamics. The idea that the Russians are “our friends” against the Jews or “civil rights” is not the case. They could have waited until a pro-Russian government was voted in, they did not.
I think maybe counter currents is getting too hide bound with its “ethnostate” ideology. Ideological systems can be dangerous. Russians and Ukrainians are one ethnicity.
That’s not true at all. Different language, different history, different aspirations.

I love any writer who wants to discuss the Apostle Paul, but your friend who tells you that this war “will bring a totally new world” seriously has my hopes up.
Ha! Then by all means, support my friend.
I’ll be happy to come out for Ukrainians, but no way in hell am I coming out for the horrifically ugly and corrupt Soros-and-Victoria Nuland puppets that comprise a state 30 years beyond reform. Unbelievable that the Ukrainian GDP is worse than it was in 1990 and that Ukrainians continue to live in Socialist tower blocks, the equivalent of 1960s ghetto public housing in the US. We suffered through a 50 year threat of nuclear annihilation and spent trillions to defeat the USSR, only to see Ukraine succumb to the looting of oligarchs and anti-Ukrainian globalists such as the one whose name in now synonymous with globalist color revolution, open borders, and general evil. Putin’s blown temper is completely justified-NATO can in fact install nuclear weapons right up against the Russian border. NATO was created explicitly to counter the nuclear threat of the USSR after their first 1949 test. That Western powers have been allowing this to continue for 30 years demonstrates their own complicity in the rape of Ukraine. It needs to end now.
We need to fight against the anti-white regimes in Western Europe and America like their is no war in Ukraine.
We should – wisely – support Ukraine like there is no anti-white regime.
In this crisis there is much opportunity. All I am asking now is to help our lady in Kiev.
Putin has been fuelling a civil war in Ukraine for eight years which has bankrupted them and is now wrecking the country with an invasion. Putin does not give a shit about Ukrainians. They have good reason to want to join the European community and emulate the success of Western Europe.
Did you allude to that dov bechhofer guy above? Did he end up losing his job, do you have definite information? What’s he doing now? I only ask out of earnest concern/curiosity.
Yes, I don’t know his status now.
And while Ukraine is in the news at this time. We shouldn’t forget our own in the DC Gulag. There’s much going on right now. Be sober and work hard.
Yes, you are certain he lost his position as a radiology resident?
Outside of western neocon meddling in Ukraine, I see it as a dispute among slavs. We can’t fully understand it and shouldn’t be too involved in it.
With all sympathy to the project members, Intermarium is a pipe dream.
I feel bad for the common Ukrainian caught in the middle of this power struggle. There is no cartoonish good vs. evil in this conflict. Both sides are corrupt and neither cares much about white people. However, Ukraine is not worth a potential WWIII. Russia called NATO’s bluff and they are going to take Ukraine wether we like it or not. If the Ukrainians want to fight and die for their homeland then so be it. Win or lose, they will be a puppet to a greater power. It’s perfectly reasonable for us to send donations to individual Ukrainians whom we sympathize with but beyond that, they are on their own.
To a much lesser extend, it reminds me of how Poland was abused by the west. They were fed false promises of protection. And as a consequence, they foolishly stood up to Hitler when they should have conceded the disputed territories. And to add insult to injury, we sold them out the Soviet Union in the end.
“What we are seeing is an unjust invasion of a people in the heart of their own ethnostate.”
Perhaps so, but justice only applies among secure entities.
I have read articles that claim that Russia’s economic and strategic position was threatened by the West’s movement east. Economically, their cash cow of selling natural gas abroad was threatened by pipeline transmission routes, and the Western-backed development of Ukraine’s abundant gas resources. Strategically, their borders grew more vulnerable. Their ocean access was threatened by a Western tilt to Ukraine and (previously) Crimea.
Importantly, the West has shown little restraint in engaging in economic, political and military aggression when it felt there was benefit (to its elites). The threats listed above were not simply the result of Russian failures, but actions of the West.
It’s easy to say that none of that justifies invasion, but it’s easy to say that when you yourself are not threatened. It’s hard for Americans to sympathize with this, because of our (past) might and geography.
I am not well-informed regarding Russian affairs. So perhaps all of the above is Russian propaganda. But it strikes me as credible.
And if so, the issue isn’t who is right. It’s what is realistic. If it’s realistic for a powerful but vulnerable nation to lash out when threatened, then you have 3 basic options:
First, try to ease their concerns in a mutually beneficial way. Would Russia be satisfied with long-term leases for gas lines, ocean access, and perhaps even a share of the development of Ukrainian gas? Maybe. Maybe they tried this, and Russia wasn’t reasonable. But I suspect the West was too arrogant to do this.
Second, accept the Russian reaction, and hope that it falls in the realm of acceptable losses. Perhaps the West is actually engaging in this, but that would be a small consolation to the Ukrainians. Furthermore, I think this is a net loss to everyone compared to option #1.
Third, meet Russian reaction with force. AKA, global war. Given the potential costs, only an idiot would opt for this.
Sorry to mix metaphors, but I’m coming to the conclusion that, morally speaking, we don’t have a dog in this fight and we’d do best to keep our powder dry.
Hello Mr. De Camp,
If I send bitcoin to her, does she have a way of keeping my wallet identity anonymous once she receives it? Thanks very much.
With bitcoin, all exchanges are a matter of public record.
What a pathetic, despicable plea on behalf of the Jewish mafia ruling Ukraine! Wake up, Morris! Bolshevism died a long time ago, what we face now is a blend of nationalism and bolshevism called Neo-Stalinism or Putinism, which, as unpleasant it may be (and it is) is far better than the crap that you and many other fools are defending. Do you like the sewer that the USA and Europe have become, courtesy of your liberal “leaders”? Did you know that there are no “gay pride” parades in Russia? Did you know that in Russia there is no official encouragement for children to change their sex if they fancy that? I could go on and on, but I won’t.
