Greg Johnson Interviewed About Savitri Devi on the BBC

Greg Johnson

234 words

On Tuesday, May 30th, I was interviewed at the BBC studios for a 28-minute audio documentary about Savitri Devi by Maria Margaronis, produced by Shabnam Grewal. You can listen to the documentary here and read the accompanying article by Maria Margaronis here.

Maria Margaronis is a Left-wing journalist of Greek descent who mentioned that she has a Jewish husband. (The producer, Shabnam Grewal, is a British citizen of Sikh descent.) Thus Maria was obviously not predisposed to agree any sort of White Nationalism, much less someone as far out as Savitri Devi, which she makes clear in both the article and the documentary. That said, and I was impressed by the care, effort, and discernment Maria put into her research. For instance, I thought the excerpts from Savitri’s autobiographical interviews were quite well-chosen.

It is always a gamble to speak to Left-wing journalists, but in this case, I think the results help White Nationalism more than they harm us.

The interview lasted more than an hour, but only a few bits made it into the documentary. Nevertheless, I thought the segments were well-chosen, and I believe that I acquitted myself well. Please share your thoughts below.

I want to thank Maria and Shabnam for including me in this project and for being unfailingly personable and professional in our dealings.

I also wish to thank Counter-Currents’ readers and donors for making this interview possible while I was in London for the Jonathan Bowden Dinner and the London Forum.

Counter-Currents, like all advocates of dissident ideas, depends upon the generosity of readers like you to survive and thrive. If you are a past donor, welcome back. If you are contemplating making your first donation, do it in thanks to the past donors that made it possible for you to find Counter-Currents, and pay if forward so others can experience the same delight in discovery. There are several ways to help out.

First, you can use a credit card.

We can take single donations or monthly donations through our credit card form. If you sign up for a monthly donation today, the first payment will be charged a month from now. If you want your first donation to be made today, put that amount in the one-time donation box as well as in the monthly donation box. If you want your donation to start in one month, please enter 0.00 in the one-time donation box.

[gravityform id=”1″ title=”false” description=”false” ajax=”true”]

Second, you can use Hatreon.

“Hatreon” is like Patreon but for the “haters” who are being purged from Patreon as part of the vast ongoing deplatforming of white advocates and dissident Rightists. Hatreon helps creative dissidents enjoy steady, predictable incomes from patrons who make monthly pledges of support. Just go to my Hatreon profile page and make a pledge.

Hatreon is run by a dissident Rightist like us. Hatreon is highly ethical and takes only a very small percentage of donations to cover their costs. I very much want Hatreon to succeed, so please sign up for an account today. Help Hatreon get off to a strong start — and help Counter-Currents stay in the fight.

Third, Counter-Currents also takes Bitcoin.

Our Bitcoin address is: 1ChE5DZVVZJpv8mnJ3fRrtSDrTikBh7uFL

In the coming weeks, we will begin accepting donations in all digital currencies, and we will publish a tutorial on how you can begin using them.

Finally, you can also mail donations to:

Counter-Currents
PO Box 22638
San Francisco, CA 94122
USA

We are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of generosity from a large number of readers. But we need to hear from all of you. Especially from our monthly donors. Please renew today.

Winter is coming for white advocacy. We must be industrious ants, building up capital and bracing ourselves for further attacks and deplatforming. We can no longer be happy-go-lucky grasshoppers, depending on the kindness and fair play of capitalists. Fear not, we will never quit. But we need to build new institutions, an integrated electronic ethnostate offering everything from domain registration to webhosting to DDOS protection to mailing list management — all controlled by our movement. This is a huge task, and we obviously should have started building it years ago. But when you donate, you are helping us build it today.

Thank you for your loyal readership and generosity.
Greg Johnson

I thought the actress reading the words of Savitri Devi did a good job.

Was there much more to the part of the conversation that ended ‘but you’re talking about ethnic cleansing in the 21st century’?

    1. Greg Johnson says:
      October 30, 2017 at 2:25 pm

Yes, I replied that diversity is just a euphemism for the ethnic cleansing of whites. The goal of White Nationalism is to reverse that process.

Yes I thought that might be exactly what was missing 😉

I don’t understand how they rationalize this but I suppose it varies with the individual.

Every mainstream interviewer, every single one, has to add their own views about how they are anti-racist, emotionally so (“I lost it there”). She seemed like a professional journalist up to that point. To act otherwise would be to jeopardize her career.

Well done, GJ. Would be interesting to hear your portion of the interview in its entirety.

With respect to comment here on actress reading Devi’s writing … a nice enough voice, but was a bit disingenuous and self-serving to give her a Bengali accent, don’t you think? Devi was European and didn’t go to India until she was an adult. The Indian relative interviewed was a member of her husband’s family.

    1. Greg Johnson says:
      October 30, 2017 at 4:46 pm

The voice actress was imitating Savitri’s accent in the tapes.

Thanks. That’s interesting. I listened to some of the recordings of her speaking, posted on this website in ‘Savitri Devi Speaks’, and didn’t notice an Indian accent.

If “Katana” is reading this s/he might like to consider adding the programme to his/her library of show transcripts – in this case, as a petri dish for growing a whole new array of diacritics sufficiently extensive to communicate all the bias, spin, subtexts, express sneer/smear quotes , innunendoes etc grammatical, tonal, surd or not, &c. deployed by this interviewer and her ilk. Her denunciatory commentary really was a litany of “Leftish” cliche’s. Rayceest! Nazeee! Faceeest!

@GJ either you have the patience of a saint, or you are unaccustomed to the typical “B”BC bias on most subjects particularly concerning White identity (aliter: White people just wanting to be left the fuck alone for once). Under the circumstances I think you did a good job, but I’d second the motion of publishing an mp3 of all your interview on this site and suggest that in future interviews of this kind it would be refreshing to counter the interviewer’s hostility by pointing out that any assertion of White identity is simply doing what Jews do themselves. It might even be an interesting overture to a discussion of just who was responsible for murdering 66+million people in “Soviet” Russia if it provokes the usual retort that White Identity = “Nazism”.

The part where they briefly aired seventh son reading was funny. So was the part where she gasped upon hearing about sending blacks to live in a separate country. So prim and proper was she.

The part about Pageets making idols to Hitler during WWII made me laugh.

This was simply fantastic. This was the first time I heard Savitri Devi’s voice. It must mean something that views like Devi’s can actually be discussed. Perhaps we are entering a new age?

Cannot afford a lot right now, but have to send Greg some money. This is great work for the cause.

There were some lovely anecdotes of SD’s life in this program, hands down the best part was that “she loved all gods creatures – except the Jews.”

    Well done Greg.

Significantly, I had already heard the interview on BBC after a friend sent me a link. As always you did a great job Greg: calm, rational, erudite and impossible to ruffle. The opposition is incapable of handling such a sophisticated and balanced voice. Having yr voice heard on the mainstream media is consequently a huge breakthrough.

I’m no fan of SD and found Martin Webster’s comments revealing but whatever you think of SD this can only be positive. It will be interesting to see how the interview impacts on the archive and, more importantly, C-C as you need all the support you can get.

Thought this was a great programme – very powerful. It will have a big long-term impact, akin to the huge impact the television documentary based on late lamented Nicholas Goodricke-Clarke’s ”The Occult Roots of Nazism’ had all those years ago. Up until that time most people thought of National Socialism as materialist & anti-spiritual, but Goodricke-Clarke’s books, (others of interest include ‘Hitler’s Priestess: Savitri Devi’ and ‘Black Sun’), and the TV documentary spin-off were a game-changer. Even Christians and others opposed to the occult found something of interest in the chivalrous, knightly take on Christianity of Jorg Lanz Van Liebenfels and his enthusiasm for August Strindberg’s novella ‘Tschandala’, (available in English from on-line book stores). Likewise in this radio programme, not every possible sympathiser will be attracted to Savitri’s particular philosophy, so it was useful that an alternative, rather more down to earth white nationalist view was so ably and humorously articulated by Martin Webster. Hard work pays off – well done and keep it up!

I am interested in Devi’s marriage (civil ceremony, Calcutta, 29 September, 1939) to the non-white Bengali Brahmin Sri Asit Krishna Mukherji, editor of the pro-Axis Magazine, The New Mercury.

On her Wikipedia page it says she married him in 1940. On his, it says, “He married Savitri Devi in 1940 in order to protect her from deportation or internment.” No sources are given for either.

My question is, as a pro white National Socialist, why marry a non-White. And is it true that she did it for the above reason? Forgive my ignorance but it seems odd to do so of that is not the case.
