The Circus Is in Town: Mark Carney Calls an Election
Gunnar Alfredsson1,643 words
Mark Carney, the first prime minister in Canadian history to be sworn in without holding any form of elected office in any capacity, called an election on Sunday March 23, 2025, from the grounds of Rideau Hall. In fact, this election will be the first time that Carney’s name has appeared on an election ballot. The self-described “globalist” and “elitist” scheduled the election date for April 28, 2025, making it a campaign of 37 days, the shortest electioncampaignlength allowable by Canadian law.
Although the scenario that I feared will not come to pass, I still worry about the fate of my country. In so many elections in North America, disingenuous pollsters start election campaigns using their polls as a propaganda tool only to become more accurate as election day approaches in order to salvage some sort of credibility. The majority of Canada’s pollsters are no different in their partisanship. Fortunately, Juno News, one of the more reliable independent news sources in Canada, have recently started conducting their own polling. Going into the first week of the campaign, the two major parties in the country were in a dead heat. After the initial week’s electioneering, the Liberals are polling at 41% support nationally with the runner-up Conservatives at 35%. The good news for the right is that, based on other types of polling, the Conservatives may be in better shape than previously thought.
It is interesting to note that younger Canadian voters are trending towards the right, more so than at any other time in Canadian history. The reason is that young people have had to live in the hellscape dystopia that is the modern multicultural state where everything costs a fortune, the streets are unsafe, and its impossible to buy a home. From the perspective of the right-of-centre Conservative party, Pierre Poilievre has been holding large, energetic rallies reminiscent of a populist campaign, whereas Carney and his handlers are conducting a tightly controlled elitist style of operation. We have seen this pattern in the United States where President Trump used mass rallies, social media, and the alternative media to great effect, while Clinton-Biden-Harris relied on a tightly controlled environment propped up by the legacy media and the deep state. Canada’s establishment media are complicit with this totalitarian capture of the Canadian government along with apologists in the managerial state like public servants and others with a vested interest in the status quo.
Mark Carney’s cabinet is nearly identical to Trudeau’s previous federal ministry, the recycling of ministers is acute. Carney is part of the same swamp circles that plague the American left and Cuckservative right, he is a globalist psychotic. A writer in the right-of-centre Sun newspaper chain said that Carney has failed to conceal his globalist ideology: “Mark Carney isn’t coming to Ottawa to make life easier for Canadians. He’s coming to finish what he started at the UN and WEF — turning Canada into a model for global governance where national sovereignty is an afterthought.”
In an interview with Candice Malcolm of Juno News, businessman and media personality Kevin O’Leary characterized Carney as Justin Trudeau version 2.0 and predicted that US-Canada relations would not improve if Carney remained in power:
If you recall back in the first mandate Trump had, both Trudeau and Freeland could not stop bad-mouthing him all around the world. That was stupid because they thought Trump would never return to power. He did. And he made it his first mandate to make sure that he called. And this all started by calling Trudeau the first governor of the 51st state. He was just sticking it back to Trudeau. And people don’t understand that. That was how toxic that relationship got. It was completely dysfunctional and not good for American people or Canadians. And Carney’s doing exactly the same thing. I’m sure that’ll be pointed out in the campaign. Very, very foolish. Stupid. And he hasn’t learned anything from what happened to Trudeau. He’s looking like Trudeau 2.0 all over again, except this time on steroids.
Malcolm responded that the Trudeau-Carney Liberals weren’t just being foolish but were deliberately stoking the flames of anti-Americanism togain support in the polls. She is correct about this. The Liberals cannot run on their record as it is abysmal, the only thing they can do in this election is invoke a hackneyed caricature of the American boogey man.
Anti-Americanism is a tool that Canadian politicians of whatever stripe have used for their own gain since Confederation. The Liberal party is acting as if it would rather sacrifice thousands of Canadian jobs in a trade war with Donald Trump as a means to win the next federal election than sit down and hammer out a mutually beneficial trade deal. That is how irresponsible they are. While the opposition leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, Pierre Poilievre, hasn’t shied away from a muted form of anti-Americanism, his vision for the country is not globalist in character. Some commentators contend that Liberal party bluster is just for show and that if Carney does stay in power, he’ll just capitulate to whatever Trump demands as Carney’s former company has “deep ties with the Trump family”. It must be emphasized that whatever ties Carney has to the Trump family are far less troublesome than his connections to China.
The Liberals have done an about face in their over-the-top anti-Americanism and opposition to Trump. The invocation of Canadian nationalism and their attempt to wrap themselves in the flag, runs contrary to their behaviour over the last decade. Three years ago, they crushed patriotic trucker protests in the streets of Ottawa, and have insulted Canada’s history and historic white populace to virtue signal in accordance with the wishes of their globalist overlords. They are nothing but opportunists that are hell-bent on implementing radical globalist ideology that would see Canada further deindustrialized, its white population replaced by denizens from the third world, and subjugated to globalist bureaucracies.
Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland were front and centre when they froze the bank accounts of not only truckers but those who donated to the Freedom Convoy. It turns out that Carney was on board; he even wrote an opinion piece in the Globe and Mail about how he supported the idea. The original article is behind a paywall, but you can read it in full here. Counter-Currents readers know that when the globalist program is implemented in any country, the hostile regime in power goes to war with its own people, its historic white populace. Carney was no different when he advised Trudeau to de-bank truckers and their allies.
Carney’s economic vision reflects his radical leftist globalism: fiscal considerations are subsumed by ideology. With one of the worst productivity trends in the G7, high taxes, reckless government borrowing, and an obese, sclerotic bureaucracy, Canada is in poor economic shape. Along with sky-high national and subnational government debt, mass migration, and a subservient legacy media, the country is in serious need of course correction.
Instead of meeting with the leader of Canada’s most important trading partner and north American neighbor, Carney initially snubbed Trump and went on a globetrotting trip to visit with his World Economic Forum (WEF) pals and other globalists. Like his predecessor, Carney seemed content to ignore the United States’ president. He opted instead to visit with Keir Starmer in the United Kingdom, Emmanuel Macron in France and he finished his trip off by making an announcement in Iqaluit in Canada’s north. While in the arctic, Carney announced that Canada was set to enter into a defence agreement with Australia to use an Australian defence system to exert sovereignty in the north.
Incidentally, during his tenure, Trudeau spent over $11 billion on so-called gender initiatives throughout the world. According to the Western Standard, the Trudeau regime, much like the Biden regime in the United States, spent billions of dollars on leftist initiatives. On the surface USAID financed countless useless studies and initiatives all over the world, but worse yet, these vanity projects didn’t even do that. They were used to launder money, subvert, and disrupt.
Speaking of leftist projects, Carney recently hired a new advisor, Mark Wiseman, who is part of an insane mass migration advocacy group called The Century Initiative, a lobby that hopes to increase Canada’s population to 100 million people by the year 2100. Wiseman does not want any newcomers vetted either; he would open the gates and let everyone in. Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the federal Conservative party, meanwhile, stated publicly that he rejected the idea. Canada has experienced a genocidal population replacement policy carried out by the Liberals and Carney will continue the trend. The national security, cultural, and social cohesive implications are unacceptable. According to independent researcher Nicholas White, Canada’s white population has dropped by 10% in ten years.
Did Mark Carney plagiarize parts of this doctoral thesis? Maybe. According to an article in the National Post he did. Zerohedge published a piece that draws on the investigative journalism of one Dan McCrum who recently wrote a longform piece for the Financial Times that reveals the complexity and shady dealings of Brookfield Asset management. Furthermore, Carney seems to have ties to all sorts of organizations including the Eurasia Group. Another article talks about Mark Carney as a “walking conflict of interest” one of the most conflicted candidates to ever run for public office in Canada. Carney’s son/daughter, Sasha Carney, unsurprisingly uses they/them pronouns and attended a controversial gender-bending laboratory, the Tavistock institute.
One of the blessings of the Westminster tradition is that campaigns are short: the election was called, and the campaign will culminate in the vote held on April 28. If Pierre Poilievre wins, he will be tasked with righting the ship and undoing a lost decade worth of Liberal destruction, a tall order. If Carney prevails and remains prime minister, he will proceed in destroying what’s left of the country.

Someone did his homework!
Carney will win and will continue the deconstruction of Canada. An engineer I know is concerned for the infrastructure needs to be financed to accommodate the flood of immigrants. No forty acres and if you survive the winter it’s yours for them. Right of the boat they are eligible for all the services the sons and daughters of the pioneers should have inherited. But the cost of the dams for the water required, the sewage plants, schools, hospitals, transportation, cemeteries and so on is astronomical. The Feds bring ’em in and the provinces pick up the bill/s.
As what is left of Mayberry falls to the bulldozer and the three storey walkups with a livable 900 sq ft for $950/month are replaced with forty plus storey towers with their 460 sq ft apartments for $2650/month as Canada continues to slip away. A new acquaintance who sleeps in her car often drives by for a visit and I’m just wondering how long before I’ll be parking next to her. Unless of course, Carney fixes the economy – free cardboard boxes for everyone!! How a country can fall so far so fast is a modern miracle in itself. On the bright side I’ll never be bored again.
I ASSUMED Carney’s party would be a shoo-in, thus him as PM, mainly because he looked greyer and stabler than the guy with the French name. But now I don’t know. It sounds as though it’ll be a squeaker if he gets in.
Easy to blow smoke rings and rationalize a defeat for Carney. He’s the Trudeau Govt, Part II; he’s Mr. Globohomo; the Quebecois folk will mostly break for the other guy just because the other guy’s got an adoptive French name (never mind that Pierre Poilievre is almost as Irish as Mark Carney, not that it would matter much); Poilievre is from the outback of Calgary, Alberta (famous mostly for having a bear), which should bring out the Prairie and Western vote, and probably Newfoundland and the Maritimes as well. Because it sounds right. Also, my London Marathon time was much better than Carney’s, so I think he’s gonna come a-cropper.
There you have it, then. I’ve called it. Liberals and Carney are going down hard on the 28th. Warren Kinsella will be having a conniption fit, as usual.
I just can’t believe that a Central Banker would return to his homeland to run for the lowly PM’s office unless the fix was in, so to speak.
“The fix is in,” or Carney was asked to do it, to save a failing franchise. There is only one way the Dominion can go, if it wants to save itself from drowning. That’s to slash and burn the globohomo tentacles that enwrap it even more securely than they do its downstairs neighbor. Trudeau was an obvious disaster and persuaded to step aside, because it seemed a racing certainty that a Poilievre or some other contrarian would soon follow. But if Mark Carney was put in as Liberal leader and pro tem PM, this would seem enough of a change, and perhaps even keep the same basic government in charge. If Carney’s party does win, watch him pay a little lip-service to notions of Canadian nationalism, protectionism, and anti-globalism.
Voters can ‘trend’ any direction they want, but if they don’t have candidates or parties that represent their interests, their ‘trending’ is irrelevant. Such arrangements are part of the totalitarian system of political control exercised within ‘liberalism’.
I used to live on the border. Shocked at the Canadian decline. As recently as 2005, they had less industrial destruction. These dominions were totally listless after the empire.
The question is not whether Canada can be fixed. The question is whether Alberta can extricate itself from the disaster known as Canada before the whole country collapses.
Hasn’t any of this unalloyed genocidal evil even remotely rehabilitated the Fasces and Swastika as effective radical forms of resistance whose even most corrupt tendencies would have fought to the death against cancers like carney and freeland. I really never thought, post 9/11, that an armed White population barely surviving in the internet age can be so easily taken down and destroyed without any resistance whatsoever to worms like the current crop of stooge bureaucrats.
The graphic on percentage of whites by province and countrywide is jarring. 51% in BC and Ontario, 52% in Alberta (so it really is the Texas of Canada haha) and 58% overall. Big drops since 2026, unrecognizable from 1971 (90+% white across the board)
Big drops since 2021. And Manitoba at 49%. But the country is not for sale.
