Early last Sunday morning—three days before Christmas and 13 days after Daniel Penny’s acquittal—an infernal convergence of insane public policy and an unhinged perpetrator led to an eyeball-peelingly horrific spectacle on a Brooklyn subway car. Wikipedia has already named it the “2024 New York City Subway Immolation.”
Ample footage of the event exists—some from surveillance cameras inside the train car, some from police bodycams, and much of it recorded by gawkers who stood and filmed as a woman slowly roasted to death.
At a press conference later on Sunday, NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch called it “one of the most depraved crimes one person could possibly commit against another human being”:
It was just before 7:30 this morning when our person of interest and the victim were both riding an F train to the end of the line at Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn. As the train pulled into the station, the suspect calmly walked up to the victim, who was in a seated position at the end of a subway car. The suspect used what we believe to be a lighter to ignite the victim’s clothing, which became fully engulfed in a matter of seconds. Officers who were on patrol on an upper level of that station smelled and saw smoke and went to investigate. What they saw was a person standing inside the train car fully engulfed in flames.
Screen caps from surveillance footage taken inside the subway car suggest that the suspect, an illegal alien from Guatemala named Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, was the only passenger in the car besides the victim when he lit her clothes. The presence of a steel walker near the victim’s legs suggests she may have been older and had “mobility issues.”
After the train pulled into the final stop at Stillwell Avenue in Coney Island and the doors opened, Zapeta walked out, sat on a wooden bench, and with numb detachment watched his handiwork burning to a crisp. The woman stood nearly immobile, her clothes ablaze, as transit cops walked by and did nothing to aid her. At one point Zapeta stands up from the bench, walks over to the burning woman, and uses a piece of clothing to fan the flames.
A compilation of clips filmed on the subway platform as the woman burns to death shows how no one attempts to save her. By the time a subway employee shows up and uses a fire extinguisher to douse the flames, the victim was already a charred grey corpse. It was only later, after the NYPD distributed bodycam photos of Zapeta’s brooding Mesoamerican face, that people recognized him riding another train car and called 911. He has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and arson.

Even to jaded eyes, the whole affair is ghoulish, hellish, sickening, revolting, soul-numbing, dystopian, dissociatively psychotic, and unbearably grim. Movies such as Midnight Cowboy and Taxi Driver portray New York City as hell, but nothing embodies NYC as a living, throbbing hellscape better than what happened last Sunday morning. It’s high-octane nightmare fuel.
Who is Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, the diminutive 33-year-old Guatemalan national with Mayan features and a nose that borders on the Incan? Why was he in Brooklyn on Sunday morning, and how could this have been prevented?
According to ICE spokesman Jeff Carter, the little brown iguana was first snagged by Customs and Border Patrol after sneaking from Mexico into Arizona on June 1, 2018. He was deported to Guatemala six days later.
It’s unclear where, how, and under whose presidential administration Zapeta wriggled back into Los Estados Unidos, but by April 2023 he’d reached New York City, the golden sanctuary of those who only came here hoping for a better life, where he slept at the taxpayers’ expense at a hotel that had been converted into a migrant shelter.
By May 2023, he listed his address at a shelter on Randall’s Island after receiving a summons for some misdeed he’d committed on the NYC transit system.
By last Sunday, he’d been staying at the Samaritan Village Forbell men’s shelter in Brooklyn’s rotted-out East New York neighborhood. The New York Post quotes a black man named Raymond Robinson, an “unemployed father of six who has lived at the Brooklyn shelter for about a year,” who serves as Zapeta’s character witness:
He smoked K2 [a synthetic cannabinoid that was also a favorite of Jordan Neely’s], drank, and bugged out [acted crazy] …. He would bug out and talk to himself when he was high, but he never harmed nobody or himself. When he wasn’t high, he’d talk like we’re talking regular…. He spoke to imaginary people but he was harmless — well, I thought he was…. That’s why this shit fucked my head up because I slept next to him and he was never like that. I wouldn’t leave my daughter with anybody, but he was the type of dude I could trust — as long as he wasn’t high.
Well, that’s comforting.

As of this writing—four days after the victim burned to death—police have still not named her. At first, they said that her body was so badly charred that they may have to rely on her teeth to positively ID her. Now officials are saying they won’t release the victim’s identity until they can notify her family members.
For a few days, social-media rumors spread that she was a 29-year-old white college grad named Amelia Carter, but this was eventually revealed to be a cryptocurrency scam designed to sell a token called “($)Amelia (Justice for Amelia).” She could have been a homeless black woman. She could have been a “he.” She could have been an illegal alien, too. She could have been blackout drunk or so narcotized that she felt no or very little pain. Or she could have awakened to find herself ablaze and realizing that she’d spend her last living moments immobilized, her tendons locked, her innards boiling, and her throat so scorched that she couldn’t breathe or scream.
It’s time to build a 400-foot titanium wall across the entire US-Mexico border.
It’s time for comprehensive deportation reform. The deportations can’t come quickly enough. Let’s get them all out of here. Let’s capriciously and randomly toss out a few extras just to send a message.
Let’s declare a moratorium on all immigration.
And let’s find a way to end the notion of sanctuary cities. No sleep for the wicked, and no safe spaces for freeloaders.
And if Señor Zapeta is as guilty as all the evidence suggests he is, let’s smear him head-to-toe in napalm and burn him to death—slowly—in a packed stadium as 90,000 people watch.

Exactly my thoughts. I want zero nonwhite immigration; a lot MORE white immigration; the total deportation of all illegal aliens (I’d keep the tiny number of white ones, but that could never pass Congress); and, ideally, encouragement of mass legal immigrant remigration. At the very least, Trump and other GOP normies should start the public discussing the idea of deporting legally resident criminal immigrants (though not the POS subway arsonist, even though he is also an illegal alien : he should be flayed and executed right here in the USA).

I guess that explains why she was standing in the video with the walker but the other thing I wondered was why no screams which Mr. Goad answered. But what is more unsettling than the inability to scream because of the burning of the throat were all the police officers and other people walking past and doing nothing. I recall a similar horror committed by (I think) was a Somali immigrant, Salim Amara, who, for no apparent reason, boarded a Madison Metro bus in Madison, Wisconsin in 1998 and dumped gasoline all over two young white people before lighting them on fire. Amara was only sentenced to a mental institution.

In December alone, we were told that aliens from outer space were flying manmade drones, that a man named Luigi Mangioni assassinated an insurance company CEO, and that an invader from Guatemala set a woman on fire. Less than 24 hours later, as if by magic, an illegal alien from Guatemala was arrested in New York for setting a woman on fire and the entire story about Jewish child rapists in Guatemala disappeared from the news cycle never to be seen again.
Coincidence, you say? Fair enough. However, the woman who was allegedly set on fire has not been identified – does she even exist? There are cameras in subway cars and at every terminal, why haven’t we seen a picture of her face?
Meanwhile, the man accused of killing her, Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, has no memory of what happened. Is he another in a long line of MK-Ultra mind-controlled zombies?

The only problem with the old medieval tortures was their sometimes completely stupid application by vain kings and officials fearing their own position and claiming it’s a necessary mandate of the realm or God. If targeted correctly by the forces of justice they are appropriate.
This is no way of repairing the damage from this crime. And the perp has no ability to feel remorse, or be rehabilitated, but it can feel pain.
Then let the punishment fit the perp. And those who have encouraged this, knowing full well the consequences of what will happen, ought to share in his fate.

I have been to Guatemala, and to call it a shithole is to do a grave disservice to self-respecting shitholes. It’s like an animal enclosure. As horrible as this crime is, you get inured to the violence. What really got me was the crypto-scam. Those people sleep well, I guess.

There is no logical reason for ANY immigration to this country. Typically, the support for immigration falls under either humanitarian or economic.
The humanitarian support is the typical “sob story” song and dance. These people all have “gangs after them” or some other tales of woe from their land of feces. It’s almost like they are “coached” to say the same thing. Like what on earth are they doing to get these gangs so mad at them? Moreover, how deep of resources do the gangs have to be after every immigrant wanting to moon walk into the country? If these hardcore gangs are mad at them for some reason, do we really want them here in the USA? Don’t they teach their kids to NOT get gangs mad at them? By George, it almost smacks of BS! Factor this low logic with the typical Third World cultural element of hustle, scam and con, and it makes one suspect they may be blowing a bit of smoke up one’s backend.
Even if there existed solid support for the USA’s obligation to solve everyone’s problem, rudimentary math proves it isn’t feasible. With a world population of over 8.2 billion folks, backing out Europe’s population ~745M, USA at ~340M, Japan at ~124M and Australia and New Zealand combined ~32M that leaves approximately 7 billion Third World Types with sob stories, weird customs, possible violent cultures and religions and most likely are challenged in the ways of toilet usage. (Or in the chinks’ case, hoarding wealth…that didn’t turn out so hot for a certain segment of the European population seven decades ago.)
What, are we going to cram all 7 billion into the USA and provide them social benefits? If not, how do we prioritize who has the best sob story? Makes no sense.
The economic support doesn’t hold water. On the bottom of the vocational scale, there is the theory they are doing jobs Americans don’t want. But you see them in jobs traditionally held by teenagers, like fast food, car washes, farm labor, etc. So in reality they are taking jobs from American teenagers. It’s not like they are working part time at a fast food joint while they are going to dentistry school at night or working on a cure for cancer. It’s just a circle of poverty and the more of these types we have the more we will end up like Brazil with a huge underclass and over-the-top crime.
On the higher end of the vocational scale, there exists the theory there is a shortage of American candidates for STEM jobs. In reality many of these guys have degrees from unheard of schools from far off lands and it is a crapshoot if any are that bright. Many are “talkers” and not particularly productive or they point fingers, blame and aren’t team players (Indians). They get here on H-1B visas and companies low ball them on pay and can treat them as indentured servants. Then they bring their extended families into the country, many of whom have never been to a doctor in their lives.
Or for the ones who actually ARE qualified and DO add value to society, is it fair the USA reaps the benefit of these beautiful minds? Shouldn’t they be back in Trashcanistan helping their fellow Third Worlders?

Doubtless the push for mass immigration is a combination of The Great Replacement by you-know-who and the bi-coastal elite limousine liberal’s wet dream for Big Government and socialized health care. With a huge influx of poor folks with health issues, the only way to make it work is to socialize the expense and lower quality. More poor underclass also supports the push towards high density housing and mass public transit, which is another champagne socialist’s utopian dream (as long as it doesn’t affect them, don’t want to be lit on fire).
