“Je ne suis pas Charlie”

Como todos los demás comentando en la Masacre de Charlie Hebdoi  no sé casi nada de aquella publicación excepto por la publicidad que ha recibido desde el ataque. Por lo que puedo observar parece sobresalir en dibujos satíricos de una desatinada y tremendamente no divertida variedad.  A pesar del hecho de que estaría en contra de la mayoría de sus puntos de vista editoriales todavía siento que lo que pasó en parís el 7 de enero es terriblemente triste. Pero, ya había algo triste sobre una revista que rejunta a izquierdistas envejecidos que se perciben a sí mismos en el borde filoso del radicalismo político.

Otro caricaturista del establishment con delirios similares con status de outsider es Steve Bell de The Guardian. Su respuesta a la masacre fue dibujar a los asesinos vestidos con ropas tontas y preguntando, “¿Por qué los hijos de puta todavía se ríen de nosotros?” Nadie se está riendo Steve. Supongo que le podría provocar una risita nerviosa a un chico de 5 años que aún considera a los payasos graciosos pero el hecho es que no hay nada especialmente valioso o laudable de este tipo de particular de caricaturas. Si también falla en ser gracioso entonces empieza a parecer como un ejercicio en triste frustración.

Quizás le estoy errando al punto. Yo como Calvin y Hobbes, en mi exposición como niño al trabajo de Charles Schultz recibí un profundo entendimiento filosófico que nunca he podido recapturar como un adulto. Caricaturas que se sitúan en el vacío entre la inocencia y la experiencia pueden evocar un sentido Blakeano del paraíso perdido de la infancia, y momentáneamente proporcionar alivio del estrés de la vida cotidiana. Los dibujos de Charlie Hebdo, por el contraste, parecen representar los peores aspectos de la niñez, siendo pueriles, ofensivos, y maliciosos. Inmaduros más que infantiles.

Por supuesto, muchos pueden objetar que mi gusto personal en caricaturas es irrelevante, que el punto significativo es que deberíamos todos estar en solidaridad con Charlie Hebdo frente al brutal asalto a nuestra libertad. Pero encuentro esta posición profundamente errada. Primero voy a cuestionar la naturaleza de la “libertad” que está siendo defendida. Como otros han señalado, hay absolutamente una falta de libertad de expresión en Europa para aquellos que quieran decir algo radicalmente divergente de la narrativa multicultural prevaleciente. Esto es verdad tanto para los islamistas como para la derecha radical. La libertad de expresión de aquellos que han adoptado el “Je Suis Charlie”  como eslogan defienden la libertad del ámbito izquierdista que apoya el multiculturalismo, no las visiones disidentes.

En segundo lugar, no estoy de acuerdo con la visión del mundo de Charlie Hebdo y su clase. Algunos pueden ver esto como algo falto de vista frente a la muy real amenaza islámica. Pero voy a sostener que la construcción de falsas alianzas es corta de vista. El personal de Charlie Hebdo y su entorno izquierdista nunca apoyó a ningún disidente de Derecha que haya sido encarcelado por sus puntos de vista y no van a empezar a apoyarlos ahora. Este no es un pequeño desacuerdo dentro de una amplia iglesia. Estoy en desacuerdo con las políticas de la revista desde antes del 7 de enero, sigo estando en desacuerdo ahora, y no voy a cambiar mi visión del mundo como respuesta a los asesinatos.

En tercer lugar, no apoyo la publicación de material deliberadamente designado para ofender las sensibilidades religiosas de la gente. Quizás debería agregar rápidamente que tampoco apoyo la censura de tal material ni el asesinato de aquellos responsables por el mismo. Pero tampoco puedo aceptar la elevación de tal material como la cima de la civilización occidental.  Al escuchar a nuestros políticos hablar, se podría pensar que el cebo crudo de la parte más íntima de la religión de los musulmanes es el punto final a la que la cultura occidental ha ido evolucionando durante dos milenios. Sin hablar del hecho que Nick Griffin fue puesto en juicio, y completamente condenado por todos los políticos, por decir cosas relativamente suaves en comparación a lo que decía Charlie Hebdo. La hipocresía es severa pero para nada sorprendente. Pero esta es la diferencia entre la libertad de expresión de la izquierda y la libertad de expresión de la derecha. Nunca harán una distinción explícita pero la hay donde quiera que mires.

Algunos han sugerido que los dibujantes sean admirados por su coraje y estoy de acuerdo con esto. Sus acciones parecían designadas a provocar a los musulmanes y ellos sabían que este era un camino difícil de andar. Ellos ciertamente mostraron valentía. Pero la cualidad más admirable es la mezcla de valentía con sabiduría, y claramente a ellos les faltaba la segunda cualidad.  Su sentido de radicalismo consiste en un vacío “hijo de puta” apuntado a un establecimiento que se marchitó en algún momento temprano después del 68’. Es el radicalismo de la generación Monty Python, por siempre palmándose en la espalda por una iconoclasia que ya estaba pasada de moda hacía años.

Los izquierdistas y los multiculturalistas que ahora están tan determinados en proteger los valores burgueses como “la libertad de ofender” le dan la espalda a la joven clase trabajadora de Europa desde hace mucho tiempo. Sus prioridades ahora son claras de ver. En vez de entrar en la tarea difícil de construir un futuro para su juventud prefieren jugar juegos tontos e irresponsables, lanzando alrededor su única cita de Voltaire en un pique de narcisismo santurrón.  Todo tiene mucho menos que ver con ideas nobles de libertad que con la auto-indulgencia de una aburrida elite. La clase trabajadora de Europa tiene asuntos más importantes con los que lidiar, como el caso de Rotherham (para dar sólo un ejemplo) mostrado.

No puedo unirme al clamor de afirmar “je suis Charlie” porque pienso que tal posición es esquizofrénica. Los que apoyan la libertad de expresión, la apoyan para los que sostienen al multiculturalismo, pero apoyan prisión y censura para aquellos que la oponen. Y en búsqueda de esta falsa libertad de expresión, se nos espera a todos el apoyo de la rudeza pueril apuntada a aquellos que muestran su integración dentro del multiculturalismo ser la más difícil. Es como si en el fondo los multiculturalistas no se creyeran su propia retórica, y desearán socavar su propio proyecto a través de un petulante, sin embargo reprimido, acto de provocación infantil. Es literalmente de locos. Je ne sui spas Charlie.

    En líneas generales estoy de acuerdo con lo escrito, soy uno de los que también se enteró de la revista por lo que nos pasaron en las noticias. No estoy de acuerdo con la forma de presentar las cosas, uno puede ser inteligente sin necesidad de ser ofensivo (o burdo, como en la mayoría de los casos).
    Obviamente, hay un atraso cultural en esa forma de presentar la rebeldía y si bien nadie puede aceptar que se salga a matar por una cuestión de identidad religiosa (o cualquier otra) pues no estamos en el far west (ante la alternativa…¿qué harían los islamitas?, sería posible que generasen un grupo legal que iniciara acciones judiciales contra quienes causan ofensas religiosas, aunque no nos engañemos pues no es su mirada del tema).
    Los editores saben a que se atienen con lo que publican, Francia tiene una gran cantidad de gente del islam y no parece ceder la tendencia. Ellos están mas cerca de un ataque de cualquier tipo y salir a ofender no es la mejor manera de mostrar que no está bien lo que hace el otro pues tampoco está bien lo que hace quien lo publica.

    Los medios tienen una responsabilidad ante la gente, no solo ante sus lectores, porque una cosa es informar (cosa que no se ve hace rato) y otra es generar tendencia de opiniones.
    ¿Cuándo las noticias se convirtieron en esto?, hace bastante. La penetración a través de medios gráficos o radiales y televisivos tiene un efecto en la gente que es innegable, basta con escuchar los comentarios cuando se forma un grupo de dos o tres y comienzan a discutir sin el mínimo asidero de razonamiento tomando posturas como generales en una guerra para hacer prevalecer su punto de vista.
    A mí no me gustaría que se rían de mi, ni de mi forma de ser, ni de mi religión, y la caricatura que ilustra esta nota es un muy buen ejemplo de lo que busca la revista. “Yo no soy Charly” diría en contraposición al “Je suis Charly” de la consigna. Entiendo la barbarie del acto y la indignación de la gente además del peligro que representan los grupos radicales como el EI, Al Queda y otros de la misma formación, pero ofender a todos no es el camino para lograr un cambio (de hecho siempre agrava la situación pues caldea mas los ánimos y es un excelente mal ejemplo del cual pueden aferrarse para cometer cualquier barbaridad)
