Really good idea having writers appear on podcast chats. Always enjoy reading Steven Tucker’s articles especially as a British expat reading about issues in The British-Irish Isles.
This was an enjoyable podcast. I agree that there’s no point in watching teams of mercenaries gathered from far and wide competing against each other. That’s just a contest of who has the most money, and players who aim for money tend to be poor role models. Why watch professional sport if your “home team” isn’t from your home town or country? It’s meaningless. It’s much more satisfying to watch a Little League game of kids from your local neighborhood.
I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion and it is nice to hear the writers come for a change.
I also stopped watching and or caring about football/ Soccer years ago for the reasons outlined in the comments above and in the episode itself.
