Nick Taurus
Not Viable: An Autobiography of an American Nationalist
Fulton Books, 2024
Part 2 of 3
Nick Taurus ran on an America First agenda of opposing immigration, anti-white racism, and interventionism. Taurus aimed at being the most “active, accessible, and America First” candidate, so he held public barbecues at which ordinary citizens could meet him, in contrast to the GOP custom of charging their constituents money to meet candidates. Taurus also came to adopt what he terms WWE-style politics of being abrasive and confrontational. While some may question the efficacy of such tactics, he had little choice because of a lack of funding and venues.
Shortly after Taurus launched his campaign, he had a revolving door of campaign advisors because he refused to compromise on his America First agenda, which they considered infeasible. While he ultimately did poorly at the polls, he thinks he would have done even worse if he had played it safe because there would have been nothing to differentiate himself from the other bland candidates.
Taurus was originally running to unseat Katie Porter in the 45th District, until he ended up running in the 40th midway through the campaign due to gerrymandering. Taurus aptly describes Porter as a “limousine liberal” and a carpetbagger from Iowa. She is rightly despised by the real Republicans in OC who call her “Katie Porker” on account of her “body positivity.” Porter’s career is almost entirely built on outside funding, and she uses Irvine as her base of operations, a soulless city which is almost 40% foreign born and which is home to the far-left UC Irvine campus, where Porter teaches law. It is difficult to find a more anti-populist politician.
Because of his America First agenda, his campaign was targeted for political shenanigans very early on. The parallels between the following incident and the media gaslighting about Charlottesville and January 6 should be obvious.
One of the principal figures in the Orange County GOP sent out a call to action encouraging people, including Taurus, to “come out in force” to a Porter event and “express their extreme displeasure.” Taurus and the local patriots did exactly that. The party leader who had encouraged them to attend was suspiciously absent, leaving the patriots leaderless and surrounded by rabid Leftists.
Taurus then learned that there would be little meaningful question and answer time with Porter, and thus their presence there felt more like that of clapping seals in support of Porter than protestors. When he began to lead a chant of “carpetbagger Katie,” Porter walked off the stage as she is not accustomed to pushback. The Leftists didn’t like how their beloved leader had been unnerved, so they surrounded Taurus, his father, and another person, and one of them punched Taurus Senior in an effort to shut down his First Amendment rights. Interestingly, this individual was later arrested and revealed to be living with Porter and probably in some type of personal relationship with her. Porter returned to the stage once her thugs had silenced the opposition.
This was a minor scuffle in which the violence was entirely Left on Right. But the lying media turned it into a smear campaign to alienate donors and voters from Taurus. Most importantly, the local Leftist doxing gangs, who are closely affiliated with Antifa, conspired to threaten and intimidate venues which Taurus contracted with. It was also used as a flimsy pretext to deny him access to canvassing software which is essential for running a modern campaign competitively. As a result, Taurus turned to tabling outside of businesses which is less efficient.
Conservatives working with communists against nationalists is nothing new. As typical, the OCGOP assumed the Left’s paradigm and denounced Taurus, including the party apparatchik who only a few days earlier had vehemently encouraged the patriots to confront Porter in her stronghold.
Taurus organized “A Celebration of Christian America” at San Juan Capistrano Mission to dispel the post-J6 malaise, ignite his campaign, and reorientate OC conservatives around a more coherent nationalist vision. Notably in attendance was Father Trevor Burfitt who successfully challenged Newsome’s COVID-19 restrictions in court. Previously, Taurus had met a number of young, committed activists during Stop the Steal such as Ryan Sanchez (whose activism is covered here and here). Despite the attendance of an Antifa affiliated doxer who drove an hour up from the affluent liberal enclave of La Jolla, it was a success with about 40 people in attendance, several of whom would go on to form a core nucleus of radical political resistance.
Taurus also spoke at the local ¡Basta! forum, which had issues from the start. The event was hindered by the organizer’s insistence on following Reagan’s Eleventh Commandment that Republicans not speak ill of each other. The purpose of a system is what it does, and Taurus observed that this rule just so happens to shield preferred candidates from meaningful criticism under a guise of civility.
The ¡Basta! forum illustrated how OC candidates and party apparatchiks are mostly either colored, homosexuals, immigrants, veterans, or some combination thereof who exploit white guilt and boomerism. For example, Shawn Collins mesmerized the boomers in attendance by virtue of being black and a veteran — not by his policies.
It appeared to Taurus that, as if by osmosis from living around liberals, many OC conservatives become moderate liberals who want a tax cut. Hence their inability to conserve anything, even ironically to include fiscal policy.
When California redrew its districts, Taurus initially thought that the gerrymandering might help him because he now found himself in a new district and would not have to face the entrenched Porter. However, he still faced two Republicans: Greg Raths and Young Kim, and the token Democrat Asif Mahmoud. Kim would go on to win the election.
The familiar check boxes should come to mind as we explore these candidates. Mahmoud is a Pakistani Muslim who despite being a doctor still speaks broken English and receives enormous out of state and out of district funding. He is essentially on the ballot because the Democrats must run somebody to keep up appearances.
Greg Raths seems impressive as a Marine fighter pilot combat veteran and former mayor. However, he also praises Bill Clinton and Al Gore in his book and to Taurus seemed to be dominated by his wife and his homosexual campaign advisor. Young Kim is a Korean-born America Last RINO who is loyal to her donor base and aloof from her voter base. She is for chain migration, which is unsurprising given that she is a chain migrant herself. Kim also receives massive funding from outside her state and district.
Taurus decided to counter the ethnic patronage networks infesting the OCGOP by exposing them. The first was the Hispanic network, centered around Ron Flores of the appropriately named ¡Basta! which means “enough!” in Spanish. Taurus found footage of Flores openly celebrating the Hispanic takeover of America in Spanish and had it translated into English. The local party animals rallied to Flores’ defense and distanced themselves from Taurus, thereby revealing that the Orange County GOP was not about policy but was rather a network based on prestige and nepotism.
Taurus decided to press on with the attack and targeted the Asian ethnic patronage networks next. This was because OC conservative activism is “dominated by tiger moms and literal immigrants who barely speak English dictating to enterprising young white men what it means to be right-wing or conservative.” Asians are extremely overrepresented in the OCGOP and demand that whites be colorblind while they engage in extreme ethnic nepotism and identity politics, much like another ethnic group. This did not turn out well either, for the same reasons.
While dismantling the ethnic patronage networks was not successful, his strategy of RINO (Republican in Name Only) Hunting was. While Taurus doesn’t claim credit for inventing this tactic, he was the first to popularize it, and it was subsequently picked up by other politicians. He chose this option because his initial strategy of spending months trying to be optical didn’t work. It was obvious that the entire OCGOP was an objective enemy. This combined with a lack of time and money for a long march through the institutions is why he pivoted towards catapulting himself in, rather than infiltrating.
The RINO Hunters had orange tee shirts with cross hairs, and their tactic was to show up and ask difficult questions of party apparatchiks to hold them accountable. This is basic First Amendment activity which seems novel only because civil society has withered away in America, along with the fact that whites are expected to be deferential and obedient. The RINO Hunters are similar to the original “Groyper War” which Nick Fuentes launched against TPUSA and Conservatism Inc. (more info available here and here).
The RINO Hunters weren’t able to force the OCGOP to become America First, but they did force them to reveal just how aloof from and opposed to the common citizen they are. Before, their events, while low quality, were at least generally free of charge and open to the general public. After the RINO Hunters, the OCGOP began to charge exorbitant prices for their events and not reveal the location until after payment. Such isolation and lack of accountability severely undermined their legitimacy.
The first debate in the new Congressional district was a success for Taurus. Young Kim didn’t even show up and sent another Korean as her proxy, so it was almost entirely Taurus versus Raths. Despite initial pushback for daring to challenge Raths, Taurus’s policies were generally well-received, especially since Taurus went all out in denouncing CRT as anti-white hate which is used to justify violence, as opposed to Rath’s more tepid, civic nationalist opposition to CRT. This should further prove that our ideas in and of themselves are electorally viable. They are not electorally viable only because the party apparatus conspires to make them so. Despite being a fighter pilot, Raths was not particularly nimble at thinking on his feet when confronted. In his defense, its hard to argue against America First positions regardless of one’s intelligence.
It should be noted that, unlike most of the other candidates, Taurus still respects Greg Raths and suspects that if he could break free of his campaign manager and wife that his authentic self would be outstanding in terms of policy and personality. This is in part due to an event held in a mosque in which Taurus candidly discussed the Zionist lobby. In response to pressure, Raths explained that “The Jewish community is very well organized in the United States, and they control a lot of the politicians. That’s why the foreign aid is so large going to Israel.” But since the Jewish community had never given him a dime, he was not beholden to them. Although he took a Zionist stance on his website, Raths was still viciously attacked at even the national level and forced to apologize, ironically proving his statement correct. Despite an acrimonious past, Taurus would stand up for Raths when he was attacked on this, so they had a thawing of relations.
Alas, a brazen cancel culture quickly began to develop in which Taurus was not invited to events as if he were not a real candidate. This led to a huge gap in invitations to events until he was invited to the Nixon Library at the very end of the campaign season. Kim finally deigned to show up and was given an easy ten-minute solo interview, while the other candidates had rapid-fire two minute interviews. Kim ran away from Taurus when she was tipped off he was coming to confront her and was extremely indignant when he caught up to her and asked where she had been during the campaign.
Taurus got outstanding feedback from the ordinary citizens in the crowd at the Nixon Library for saying that immigration should be a priority. Many of them were surprised that they had not heard of him earlier, which indicates that he would have done a lot better at the polls if there had been even the pretense of an even playing field.
This was the end of an exhausting, low budget campaign in which Taurus had to seek creative solutions and summon forth incredible energy to balance work and politics. I have highlighted the main points but there is much more, such as the details of a boomer party animal whom Taurus paints as having the intrigues of Talleyrand but the execution of a cartoon villain.
I strongly recommend the book for its informational and entertainment value, especially for people pondering an insurgent electoral campaign of their own.
The results of the election and lessons learned will be the subject of the final part of this series.

This has been an entertaining informative series. I don’t have anything intelligent to add; I just wanted to express appreciation.
Send this to David knight (ex info wars guy). He keeps screaming on rumble and all about all of us focusing on local politics. maybe he can put his money where his mouth is and start a library collection of works that local politicians can use. He can be the source and librarian.
