I almost included The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Mr. Steuben. You’re right; it, too, has an evocative geomythology — and not just one pertaining to the land of Oz, but also to the vast Kansas prairies (that, incidentally, was where Francisco Coronado thought Quivira lay hidden). Interesting discussion about the differences between Alice and Dorothy. The underlying theme of most of these map-stories seems to be the idea of Return.
