America’s Polarized Gender Relations: How Did We Get Here?
One of the topics that first sparked my interest in the Dissident Right was the growing political divide between young men and women. I remember thinking, not long after adopting the view that society was lying about racial differences, that the education system was (perhaps inadvertently) encouraging America’s ongoing Gender Wars by promoting sociopolitical narratives that demonized completely natural male instincts while simultaneously encouraging young women to see men as competitors. The ideology of Modern Feminism seemed like a form of Gender Based Marxism.
The core, underlying sentiment that I felt was: Healthy families form the backbone of a nation and a sane culture is one that encourages sane relationships between men and women. Gender Wars are toxic.
It seemed obvious to me that, if an ethnic or racial group wishes to survive, there must be a healthy dynamic between men and women. A certain number of bachelors, spinsters, and divorcees are tolerable; but a people will fade away or be subsumed by foreign populations if a large portion of its members struggle to have productive long-term relationships with the opposite sex.
As I thought about this, I looked around at my own generation and saw a landscape in which:
- Far more young women than men identify as LGBT.[1]
- Young men are significantly more likely to be single than women.[2]
- Between 36-38% of White Americans experience divorce.[3] Many young people grow up in broken homes.
- Young men and women have increasingly polarized views, with men leaning “right” and women “left.”[4]
I wanted to know why America had reached this point. I had a few foreign friends and noticed that, while these issues existed in other nations, they were amplified in the United States. Why had things become so over-the-top here in the states? A couple years earlier, I had stumbled across an article by Julius Evola called Negrified America.[5] I read it at my racially diverse high school and found myself snickering about how hilariously true it was. It was refreshing to see someone bluntly criticize American culture. I thought of that article and tried to find more from the author. The article American Civilisation popped up. I thought Evola’s criticism of America’s gender relations were extremely interesting because they were written decades before modern “wokeism” existed:
In cases of divorce American law overwhelmingly favours the woman. American women will divorce readily enough when they see a better bargain. It is frequently the case in America that a woman will be married to one man but already ‘engaged’ to a future husband, the man she plans to marry after a profitable divorce.[6]
The first line made me think of an uncle who had been through a nasty break-up and lost a large portion of his assets. The next few lines struck me as interesting, but somewhat old-fashioned. Most of the middle-class girls that I knew put more emphasis on looks and social status than money. Later when I became a college student, I still didn’t see the epidemic of golddiggers (at least among college-age White women) that older men claim to encounter. I even met a few East Asian women who told me they thought White women were a bit naïve and focused too much on physical traits.
However, I did see some “simping” among the men I knew and, as I continued to research American history, I noticed a trend of foreign authors reaching similar conclusions about American men and women. One especially interesting book was The American Enemy: A History of French Anti-Americanism. It included quotes from numerous Frenchmen who, back in the 1800s, became convinced that American men were often the victims of bossy, overbearing wives. Here is a short excerpt of the book:
North America was a gynocracy. This affirmation was dogmatic or at least axiomatic in France as of the 1890s. The American woman’s supremacy was thus twofold. The superiority of her “type” also corresponded to the empire she had taken over the opposite sex. The same cliche was tirelessly repeated, somewhere between fascination, fear, and reproach: the American woman ruled over the country just as she governed her home
…The Yankee husband was not master of the house.[7]
Similar criticisms were made in the 1970s by the Jewish-Argentinian author Esther Vilar. Her book, The Manipulated Man, is exceptionally critical of women – arguably for shock value – but her statements about American culture are still quite interesting. She claimed that American men were significantly worse off than their foreign compatriots:
In a country where man is exploited as unscrupulously by women as in the U.S.A., a movement that fights for yet more of women’s rights is reactionary, and, as long as the screaming for female equality does not stop, man will never get the idea that he is actually the victim.[8]
Vilar was not a conservative or traditionalist. She was an Egalitarian whose perspective on male sexuality strikes me as rather naïve. The idea that men might have innate preferences that are biologically driven seems to have mostly escaped her. Yet her criticisms of America’s romantic culture were not all that different from those of Evola or Victorian era Frenchman. I doubt that such a broad array of authors would reach the same conclusion without there being a genuine cultural issue at play.
My own theory is that a pre-existing cultural weakness was taken advantage of during the Sexual Revolution by the (almost entirely Jewish led) Feminist movement. The origin of this “chink in the armor” was likely America’s time as a frontier society with a skewed gender ratio. The United States spent much of its early history with vast territories that had too many men and too few women.[9] The Wild West was probably full of incels:
When mass pan-European immigration began to impact the East Coast and Industrial Midwest, a similar effect took place.[10] Immigrants to the industrial cities of the north were disproportionately male:
Of the arrivals in 1906, 913,955 ranged in age from 14 to 44, 136,273 were less than 14 years old, and only 50,507 had reached or passed the age of 45. Over two-thirds of the immigrants were males, 764,463 men and boys, and 336,272 women and girls.
America spent decades as a nation with dangerous frontier zones where men outnumbered women and culturally important cities with an excess number of foreign-born male immigrants. This only began to normalize after WWI. Having an imbalanced male to female ratio (at least in culturally significant regions) likely inflated the ‘sexual market value’ of women. The result would have been a cultural shift. American men became more fixated on signaling their value to women and more willing to tolerate negative behavior. The disproportionate support given by American men to causes like the Temperence Movement, which was largely led by women, are possible proof of this.
I believe that the confusing situation that exists now – with many young women saying they don’t trust men and many young men struggling to form healthy long-term relationships – is the aftermath of two cultures colliding. The native culture had an inherent weakness: men were too concerned with signaling their value to women to accurately analyze female nature. The paleocons that F. Roger Devlin writes about in his essays were unwilling to admit that female desires could be just as damaging as male desires. They spent time counter-signaling those men who criticized Feminism. It would be unmasculine and weak to admit to having issues with The Fairer Sex.
Later generations of Redpillers and MGTOWs seem to have felt deeply wounded when their own illusions about women were shattered by reality. Some of these men overreacted and adopted excessively harsh views. My goal isn’t to promote that type of thinking. I don’t want to be a knock-off Pearl Davis, pointing out the worst female behavior to get clicks. My goal is to describe why America has developed this problem and then offer my advice for how young men should react to it.

Very timely, thank you. I just finished The Manipulated Man a couple weeks ago and also recommend it. Dr. Orion Taraban on YT has been recently saying some interesting things as well about the sexes.
I think The Manipulated Man is a bit guilty of making shocking claims to grab attention (like Pearl Davis does) but it’s definitely an interesting read with some legit points. The author noticed some of the same behaviors that modern Redpillers talk about.
I looked Dr. Taraban up and recognized him from Instagram. I remember his video where he talked about men refusing to tell beautiful women the truth, and how this creates bad relationships.
Very interesting data. I had no idea that 2/3 of immigrants in the early 1900s were male. That’s much higher than I would have guessed.
David Hackett Fischer observed in his book Albion’s Seed that the New England Puritan settlers had a much more even sex ratio and higher marriage rates than other colonies did. Families often migrated together. Migration to Virginia was heavily male.
It’s interesting to note that the only four states to give women the right to vote before 1900 were Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Idaho, all of which had a surplus of males and a shortage of females. The entire Midwest gave full voting rights to women before 1920. Not so for New England, despite the region’s reputation for egalitarian ideas.

I love that book. It’s not perfect but it helps explain some of America’s unique regional cultures.
My guess is that the old stock Puritans probably had some similarities to the modern group who is mostly descended from them… old stock Mormons. Friendly, hard-working, traditional in some ways, not super racially minded but not a fan of ghetto behavior, some weird religious ideas, virtue signaling, etc.

I think that New England probably became genuinely egalitarian after the immigrants integrated and the Jews pushed the Yankee intellectuals out of the top spot.
My boyfriend and I went on a vacation to New England last year and I was surprised by how different the locals looked in rural Maine vs Mass. Upper and Lower New England are very different places. Boston is pretty similar to Cleveland or Philadelphia whereas small towns in Maine have a very different vibe.

Say jew! C’mon, you know you want to. C’mon, you can do it. Good boy, you can do it! You’re such a good boy! 🙃
This is a great article! I hope you write many more! You even managed to name the jew, something that some writers around here can’t do. Thank you! 🙃
There’s no way to discuss modern Feminism without talking about Jews. They completely dominated and led it.
Bella Abzug, Betty Frieden, Golden Steinem, Susan Sontag, Erica Jong, Andrea Dworkin, Ruth Ginsburg…
It would have been a completely different (and less extreme) movement without them.
Say jew! C’mon, you know you want to. C’mon, you can do it. Good boy, you can do it! You’re such a good boy! 🙃
I’m an adult woman, there’s no need to be sarcastic and write like this. You implied the pic in Brooke’s essay was a Jew and now you’re responding to mine like this.
I get that jokes come across differently over text, but this came across weird to me.
Maybe she is a jew! 🙃
Like a lead balloon.
She’s a lead balloon? 🎈

Dani: June 3, 2025 There’s no way to discuss modern Feminism without talking about Jews. They completely dominated and led it. Bella Abzug, Betty Frieden, Golden Steinem, Susan Sontag, Erica Jong, Andrea Dworkin, Ruth Ginsburg…
Thank you or that fact, Dani. Here’s a unique perspective on the issue by David Sims: “Jews and Feminism: Nexus of Anti-White Hate” at nationalvanguard.org
FEMINISM WAS mostly started by leftist Jewish women, but the fact that they were Jewish matters more than the fact that they were women. Feminism is, and always was, a front movement and a tool in the hand of the George Soros kind of Jew, of Jews who hate White people and their culture of Western Civilization.
The “empowerment of women” was one of their slogans and pretended objectives because it came along with the deliberate embitterment of women. Men received “blame” for the “terrible” fact that females get pregnant, never the other way around. Feminist Jews contrived a scenario in which the female role in reproduction, vital to the continuation of the race, was an instance of “male oppression.” This was the spiritual poison that turned a lot of White women into the repulsive, shrieking, anti-White genocidal harridans that they are today…
A couple of interesting points here.
I think the current fear young men and women have of each other is caused by this generation being socialized online rather than in real life. They have crippling anxiety over face to face interaction. And since they’re online constantly, they are absorbing nonstop bad info about each other in their little echo chambers.
As for America being uniquely ripe for feminism — probably, but not because of gender imbalances. America was founded by Northwest Europeans, who are more independent and less traditional by nature. Also, America was very harsh and dangerous for a long time, and only the tough, practical women survived. Those traits live on somewhat in American women.
However, being a capable female and being a feminist are not the same thing. We see feminism is now common all throughout the developed world, but not the undeveloped world, which means things like comfort, stability, etc. are probably the right conditions for feminism to thrive.
Morality Squad: June 3, 2025: I think the current fear young men and women have of each other is caused by this generation being socialized online rather than. in real life. Astute observation What’s to fear? I’ve never noticed this fear, but maybe that’s because I’ve been socialized in real life, not in the virtual world online. I suppose the word gigachad is a word found on social media. I’m dumb to it since I do not partipate in social media, unless C-C is considered a social medium. I found this definition, where else but in an online search:
“Gigachad” is an online slang term that describes a person with the “ultimate” male form. Big, muscular, handsome, and confident, a gigachad is the stereotypical alpha male. Chiseled like a Greek god, his features and physique are the stuff of legends. The term can be used seriously or ironically…
The fact is about age differences among couples, that beyond our high school years many men, including myself, are attracted more to younger females. It’s natural. My current wife is 24 years younger and our marriage has been complementary for us both for nearly 22 years.
An interesting piece.
The idea about the terms of American heterosexual coupling having been shaped by conditions on the American frontier, where women were in relatively short supply, and hence could dictate the terms of heterosexual coupling, is especially interesting.
However, also you also claim:
“Young men are significantly more likely to be single than women”
But, given a roughly equal sex ratio among young people, how is this mathematically possible?
I can see three possibilities.
First, there could have been a rise in the practice of polygyny, with a few young men having multiple partners at once.
But this doesn’t seem to be the case. Few young men seem to be openly practicing polygyny, and I doubt many could get away with doing it without the different partners knowing in a social media age where everything is posted on the internet.
A few ‘gigachads’ might practice serial monogamy, moving quickly from one girlfriend to the next, and having lots of ‘hook-ups’. But this wouldn’t change the number of men/women in actual relationships at any given time.
Second, young women might have turned to lesbianism. In other words, young women are in relationships, but with other women rather than with men.
As you also allude to, there has been a massive increase in the numbers of young women/girls identifying as LGTB, but the biggest increase has been in girls identifying as ‘bi’, which I suspect is mostly a larp for straight girls to identify as LGTB while still pursuing healthy, normal relationships with boys.
A final possibility, perhaps the young women are still dating men, but they’re not dating young men.
This is surely true to some extent. Women tending to have relationships with men somewhat older than themselves is pretty much a cross-cultural universal.
But it was surely much more true in the past than it is today. Today, what would have been perfectly normal or even quite small age gaps seem to be hugely stigmatized as somehow inherently exploitative and ‘creepy’ today to an absurd degree.
So, if this is the explanation, then there would have been an even bigger disparity in the numbers of young men and women in relationships in the past than there is today.
A few ‘gigachads’ might practice serial monogamy, moving quickly from one girlfriend to the next, and having lots of ‘hook-ups’. But this wouldn’t change the number of men/women in actual relationships at any given time.
From what I’ve seen, what often happens is: giga-chad has a roster of girls -> he describes most of them as platonic ‘friends’ -> the girls all insist they’re his real girlfriend.
No one wants to admit to being the side-chick, so you end up with them all insisting they’re in a relationship.
I even have a close relative who was angrily confronted by a ‘side chick.’ Her ex then insisted that the hook-up hadn’t meant anything and was a ‘bad decision.’ That type of drama is pretty common.
But it was surely much more true in the past than it is today. Today, what would have been perfectly normal or even quite small age gaps seem to be hugely stigmatized as somehow inherently exploitative and ‘creepy’ today to an absurd degree.
I have a friend who is dating an awesome guy who is 8 years older than her and the amount of flak she’s been given for it has been insane.
I understand being concerned about big gaps (like 15 years) but this guy looks very young and fit and passes as being in his early 20s. People think they’re a great couple until they find out the age gap.

Wow
As a general rule of appropriate age compatibility between boys and girls, it’s always more acceptable for the guy to be older if they’re not the same age. In high school, they really should be the same age/grade. It’s acceptable for her to be a 16 year-old junior and him a 17 year-old senior, not 19 at university. There’s much less congenial relatability within closer age ranges when you’re young because of drastic year-to-year life developments and change. 17 is more experience-distantly unfamiliar from 23 than 48 is to 67. From 35 and up, it tends to be same old shit mode for life. Take the Fibonacci approach to this: if she’s 16, he should be 16-17. If she’s 21, he’s no older than 25. If she’s 27, it’s more acceptable for him to be 50 without fuss (though all ages should seek out their own age orbits).
Regarding the age gap controversy — I suspect it largely comes from the idea that an “older man” will get in the way of the woman’s career plans, and that’s horrifying to clown world.
Also, a smaller but still important thing is the fact that today’s young people are far less mature for their age compared to way it used to be.
Older women promote the age difference stigma because they waited too long and want to deter men their own age from passing them over.
So true. I’ve seen young flirty female twitter-twits brag: You 30-year-old women, are not wanted by 30 yo men. They want young gals like us!
10 years later, some of these exact same party-girl, twitter-twits were caught attempting to publicly chastise the 30-40 year old guys who were successfully pairing with young, fertile women.
There are actual rules of etiquette about this. Here’s the old school formula as to dating age-difference acceptability: Guys will not appear to be “robbing the cradle” so to speak, so long as their date is at least half their age, + 7 years. (So a male 40 can respectably date a female 27. If the guy is 60, his gf can be 37, if 70– gf can be 42!)
“… biggest increase has been in girls identifying as ‘bi’, which I suspect is mostly a larp for straight girls to identify as LGTB while still pursuing healthy, normal relationships with boys.”
I absolutely beg anyone who encounters an openly “bi” female to out-virtue-signal her in the morality dept:
Suggest that fortunately, as a “bi” person, she can choose which way to go. By choosing team-hetero, she allows strict “born-lesbians” to pursue relationships with other strict “born-lesbians.” She makes the gracious decision not to complicate matters by accidentally stealing a true lesbian, as they have a more limited pool of potential partners from which they must choose.
The gold digging behavior exhibited by women in the twentieth century has nothing to do the ratio of men to women in the nineteenth century. Rather, it is a biological trait exhibited by all women, in all civilizations, throughout recorded history. 🙃
Great series. I just read Part 2 which is just as good. One comment: I don’t buy the msm line that 30% of young women are lgbtetc. This type of fake stat is propagated to mainstream those lifestyles.
You are correct that these statistics are being promoted to advance the agenda, but what’s happening is a big percentage of young women say they are lgbt because it is fashionable to be part of that group now. It’s not because they actually are lbgt.
Thank you, I would guess that many of those women are “bisexuals” who more or less always date men and just want to be seen as allies of the LGBT movement.
I’m not sure where else to make this off-topic comment on the JQ, since comments under one of the most relevant essays here by Spencer Quinn on the subject, SJQ at 500, have been closed, He wrote in February:
The Jewish Question
The JQ is such a tricky and perilous topic that I always strive for balance. It’s tempting to give in to bitterness or to throw partisan barbs when clearheaded analysis is what’s needed the most to get one’s point across. I believe that there are honest people of all races and ethnic groups, and when presented with evidence in an evenhanded, responsible manner, they can be persuaded…
My thoughts today, 8 June, on the largely unknown to Americans, anniversary of the Jews’ deadly assault on the USS Liberty during their Six Day War in Israel, should be a topic of discussion when it comes to the JQ. The 81st anniversary of the D-Day attack on Germany was celebrated widely a couple of days ago and the word “Jew” was never mentioned, though it easily could have been.
National Alliance founder Pierce wrote about that Jewish act of war against Israel’s “greatest ally”40 years ago, here: “Dr. William Pierce on Israel’s Attack on the USS Liberty” at nationalvanguard.org. His clearheaded analysis gets the point across of Jewry’s deliberate act of war against the U.S. He told us:
JUNE 8, 1967, is a day which will live in infamy. On this day an American Navy vessel, the USS Liberty, was deliberately attacked in international waters by the armed forces of Israel in a treacherous attempt to sink the ship and kill everyone aboard it. The Liberty was an electronic intelligence gathering vessel, and it had been sent to the eastern Mediterranean to monitor radio communications. Israel had launched its latest land-grabbing war against its neighbors just four days earlier, and the U.S. government was curious as to what its Jewish “ally” was up to.
In recent years since, the National Alliance reminds its ADV listeners and readers about the deady Jew assault, as we did again yesterday, here: “The USS Liberty Truth Campaign 2025, part 1: Another Jewish Massacre” at nationalvanguard.org. Don’t be timid to tell our fellow kinsmen the truth about this aspect of the JQ and its coverup.
This week we once again present our USS Liberty Truth Campaign — more timely than ever in light of today’s unending mass murder by the Jews in Palestine, and the increasing outrage against American funding and support of that massacre. Make our truth campaign known in your neighborhood with our free printable pamphlet at natall.com/liberty. And make sure to get the very latest blockbuster book on the Liberty — Philip Tourney’s Holocaust on the High Seas — now available from our Cosmotheist Church bookstore.
Latest Jew attempt of a coverup: Speaker now banned from Norfolk VFW and Sheraton ahead of USS Liberty reunion
NORFOLK, Va. — A far-right influencer named Stew Peters who was invited to speak at a reunion of the USS Liberty Veterans Association (LVA) has been barred from the Norfolk Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4809… This comes a day after Peters, known for espousing antisemitic and white nationalist views, was banned from the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel — where the LVA is holding its 58th annual reunion…
