The coup narrative about Ukraine is ludicrous. The Maydan protests practically only led to that a new election was held one year earlier than planned. An election which Yanukovych would have lost anyway. A candidate from his party was free to participate and got 3%. Peter Poroshenko won a landslide victory by gaining over 50% of the votes in the first round, so with no doubt he was democratically elected.
Since then two parliamentary and one more presidential election have been held so the Maydan events no longer play any role whatsoever regarding who is leading the country. Worth to mention is also that Zelensky was not the most pro-Western candidate when he won in 2019 so it makes no sense to talk about a US controlled puppet regime.
Ukraine in fact could be seen as a nightmare to the leftist anti-white Western establishment. A country with an almost completely white population where most that is considered “far-right” here are mainstream opinions.
However to some Western right-wing dissidents the post-Maydan Ukraine has become a hate object that for them represents everything that is bad about The West and they are convinced that Ukraine through its imagined puppet regime is heading straight towards mass immigration, transgenderism and everything else that have poisoned the Western world. And likewise they project all kinds of noble and conservative qualities they can imagine on Putin and his regime. More or less they seem to believe that the Ukraine war is about George Soros and The Russian Orthodox Church fighting over the cultural influence over Ukraine.
It’s simply a delusional narritive and has nothing to do with the real motives behind the invasion which are strictly imperialist. Tragically many white nationalists are in fact celebrating the attempt to destroy a white ethnostate.
they are convinced that Ukraine through its imagined puppet regime is heading straight towards mass immigration, transgenderism and everything else that have poisoned the Western world.
We have to wait and see what happens. I know – not an award-winning observation or comment. But voting in the likes of Zelensky shows that maybe the Ukrainians have a death wish. It’s not just about Russian perfidy.
That is another popular talking point from the Kremlin influenced Western dissidents – that Zelensky is soo baaad + he’s a Jew, so how can anyone be supportive of Ukraine?
He was chosen President for five years and would have been replaced already if it wasn’t for the war. Ukrainians voted for him mainly since he was promoted as a guy of the people who was going to combat corruption. When he failed to fulfil his promises he quickly began to lose support.
I can’t see that Zelensky has done anything extraordinarily bad or harmful for Ukraine. You can find worse examples among leaders in Western countries. But even if Putin was God and Zelensky was the devil it would not have been any justification for the invasion. Who Ukrainians elect as president is simply their problem.
No, they don’t, they are just too gullible. They largely vote for anybody, except the current president, who is deeply hated after 4 years. Electing a literal clown was not a bright idea, of course.
It also shows how manipulatable the Ukrainian politics are in reality. The people are very antisemitic, and Zelensky is not an Aryan.
They are gullible, all right. That is why they easily got talked into removing their nuclear weapons in 1994. Anyone can convince them of anything, even voting for Zelensky.
“Gradually I began to hate them.”
Greg Johnson made it clear enough that he feels the way about Russia shills that Hitler felt about Jews.
OK. It makes no sense to argue. There is nothing to gain.
I hope that Counter-Currents will continue to be of benefit to our race on other issues. Long life and good health to all.
Oh, so Greg and David decided to step up and slap down the Russian propaganda machine? Good for them. Someone had to clean up after that Zelenskyy mess, which apparently gave every two-bit sellout a megaphone to scream nonsense. Here’s the thing: it’s not just about shutting down the lies; it’s about calling out the opportunists who cozy up to those lies just to keep their own corrupted hustle alive. These clowns drag us all down, turning our platform into a pawn in Russia’s geopolitical chess game—without so much as a thank-you note from Moscow.
And what does that get us? Alienated supporters who see through this unpatriotic circus act and think, “Why bother?” Oh, and let’s not forget the added bonus: more eyeballs from law enforcement and intelligence agencies. So yeah, Greg and David, keep swinging. Election cycles are short, but the internet? That dumpster fire burns forever.
