This is Charles Krafft’s speech at the Inaugural Meeting of the Northwest Forum in Seattle on November 12, 2016. In the Q&A, I edited out the voices of some of the questioners, but the gist their questions can easily be inferred from Charles’ answers. I want to thank Charles and everybody who attended and helped out for making this a successful event.

Very interesting reflections and experiences.
There’s a whole philosophical aesthetic implicit in the turning towards folk art that is maybe just what’s needed to lead the plastic arts back into cultural relevance. “Conceptual art” is analogous to the notion of a “proposition nation.”
Enjoyable talk as always from Krafft. One suggestion for you Greg and that’s to upload this to your Youtube as it can have a larger reach.
