I am aware that not many readers of this platform are fans of Candace Owens for various reasons, and so I am not going to discuss Candace Owens. I’m sure that will happen in the comments section without my help.

Recently, Owens published a book called Make Him a Sandwich—Why Real Women Don’t Need Fake Feminism. Well, feminism is not “fake” at all, so that part of the title doesn’t really make sense, but as Owens will go on to explain, much of the motivation of feminists, as well as their arguments, are very much fake. I have noticed that a lot of writing about sex—not all, but a lot—is marked by a strange lacuna: it fails to mention that some people are simply born more attractive than others. Thick textbooks promising comprehensive coverage of “human sexuality” are capable of leaving out this little detail. Such reticence may be due to embarrassment. We all understand that natural attractiveness and unattractiveness are unearned; furthermore, these differences provide occasions for envy, disappointment, and conflict. It is understandable that some writers prefer to pass over such uncomfortable matters in silence. (more…)

When considering some of the more tragic, unnerving specimens of the transgender craze, the pronoun question comes to play, even for those who correctly refuse to misgender as the term is properly understood, i.e. using he/him pronouns for a person born male and she/her pronouns for a person born as female. All people have a tendency to project their own attitudes and sentiments onto others. Thus, for example, it has often been noted that untrustworthy people are the most inclined to mistrust others. One special form of psychological projection is the tendency of each sex to assume the other thinks like itself. This leads to a lot of frustration and misunderstanding, because the evolutionary history and brain functioning of women and men are in fact very different. Thus arises the common female complaint that men are “jerks,” and the corresponding male lament that women are irrational and/or impossible to understand. (more…)

Breaking News: Putin is Evil

In the past few weeks I’ve gone on record stating that I don’t see the current Ukraine/Russia conflict being good for Americans in any conceivable way.

This was before I learned that Vladimir Putin is evil. Now that I know this, I agree that he must be stopped by any means necessary, even if it means genociding the entire human race. (more…)

After Stephen Breyer announced he was retiring from the Supreme Court in January of 2022, Biden fulfilled his 2020 campaign promise to nominate a black female for the position. While every rational person sees the problem with electing someone based on his skin color and/or gender, the nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, should also feel somewhat disrespected for being chosen predicated on a campaign commitment to elect a black woman (not a particular black woman, just a black woman) instead of her professional and personal merit. Was it oppressive to deny women the vote? Let me be clear up front: the subject of this essay is not whether women should have the right to vote now. My argument is one that hypothetically should be capable of convincing a pure egalitarian who believes that “human nature” at its core is a kind of interchangeable, uniform “stuff,” beneath its outward expressions, which are constrained by external circumstances. I can change the mind of someone who believes that men and women are not even psychologically different and who is perfectly happy with the equality that we have managed to achieve today.  (more…)
