Nationalism This Week
Politics, Metapolitics, & Hegemony

Greg Johnson

William Blake, “The Ancient of Days,” 1794

1,193 words

As Kevin Deanna has observed, every election is now the most important election of our lifetimes, and we are always one electoral defeat away from total disaster.

It didn’t used to be that way. Twenty years ago, it was easy for White Nationalists to be indifferent to electoral politics because, from our point of view, there were no real choices between the major political parties. Our options were only slightly different versions of anti-whitism: open borders, globalization, multiculturalism, and pandering to perpetually aggrieved minorities. We could vote for anything, as long as it was anti-white.

Since overturning anti-whiteness is the most important issue for me, I saw no point in voting. Instead, I was focused on broadening the options at the ballot box by persuading people that white survival is at stake and that we need closed borders and remigration to save our race and civilization.

At this point, we can introduce a distinction between politics and what I like to call metapolitics. Metapolitics is what comes before politics. In this case, politics is about choosing between the different political options on the ballot, whereas metapolitics determines what issues are on the ballot in the first place.

If you want to know the dominant values of a society, the things that are sacrosanct, you don’t look at the things you can vote on. High taxes aren’t sacred if you can vote for low taxes. Freedom of speech is not sacred if you can vote for censorship. What is sacred in a society is what you can’t vote against.

You can buy Greg Johnson’s Is America Doomed? here.

I call such ideas “hegemonic,” since hegemony is a form of domination. But hegemony is not specifically political power. Hegemonic ideas don’t need to struggle against other ideas in the political realm. Instead, they set the range of possible political battles. Anti-whiteness is hegemonic, which is why all we can vote for are different flavors of anti-whiteness.

Politics today is much more exciting for White Nationalists because our metapolitical efforts are paying off. In 2015, when Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president, immigration and globalization—both of them anti-white—were politically hegemonic. There was a consensus in the major political parties not to compete on these issues, even if voters wanted it. Trump rejected that consensus. He questioned the value of globalization and immigration. That’s why millions of Americans rejoiced, myself included. Similar nationalist, populist, and immigration-restrictionist ideas were making headway in Europe as well.

No, Trump and other national populists are not rejecting anti-whiteness as such. But they are rejecting crucial anti-white policies, and that’s a start. They are doing things we would do if we were in power. Granted, they aren’t doing them for the reasons that we would do them. But their policies, if carried through, will at least slow down white demographic decline. This will give White Nationalists more time to set things right.

Anti-whites have reacted to national populism with equal but opposite passions. Political “civility”—which just means acceptance of the same hegemonic ideas—has broken down. Before the rise of national populism, white extinction was simply built into the political process. Pro-whites couldn’t fight against it, and anti-whites didn’t have to fight for it. But now white survival is the great political battle of our time.

This is why politics has become increasingly polarized, uncivil, and existential. Whites are now literally fighting for our existence, and the Left is literally fighting for our destruction. The Left see this as an existential struggle too, for anti-whiteness is now the only thing sacred to the Left. The political center is the “common ground” between Left and Right. The center will slowly disappear, because there is no middle ground between white survival and white extinction, and no issue is more important.

Left and Right are no longer different political tendencies within the same people. Instead, they are rapidly becoming two different peoples: quite explicitly with the Left, which has bet everything on race-replacement immigration. But when two different peoples share the same territory and political system, there can be no peace. They must either separate or fight it out.

Multiparty democracy is dying in America. Multiparty democracy presupposes that it is safe to hand the power of the state—in effect, a loaded gun—over to one’s political opponents from time to time. But the Left clearly thinks the Right is too dangerous to be allowed back into power. Thus, as soon as the Left returns to power in the US, they will try to ban the Right altogether. It is slowly dawning on the Right that they can’t afford to let this happen. It is madness to hand state power to those who regard our destruction as a holy cause. Whichever party bans the opposition first will rule unopposed.

This is why every new election will be the most important of our lifetimes, and why we are all ways one election away from disaster.

So, are we going to keep doing this forever?

You can buy Greg Johnson’s The White Nationalist Manifesto here.

Obviously, not. We simply need to ban the Left, which is to say: the militant vanguard of anti-white politics. But there are superficial and deep ways to do this, which correspond to the distinction between politics and metapolitics.

Banning the Left politically means shutting down its parties and NGOs and banning its members from participating in political life. The sooner we do this, the better. Nothing can be fixed until that happens.

But it is only a short-term solution. The long-term solution is to purge the Left from all important institutions of society: education, the media, publishing, the arts, the churches, etc. In short, we must eject the Left from any institution that shapes the culture and minds of the next generation. For if we leave these institutions in the hands of Leftists, they will simply create more Leftists. Thus the only way to permanently defeat the Left is to break the mold, so no new Leftists are produced.

Victory is not a party of the Right taking power and then defending itself forever against the ceaseless onslaught of rabid Leftists. Instead, victory is ending the Left forever by seizing the means of cultural production.

As a White Nationalist, I define ultimate victory as making pro-white ideas hegemonic, meaning that being pro-white is the essential condition for entering polite society and participating in the political process.

A metapolitical victory will allow us to relax in the political realm. We can even allow multiparty democracy again. You’ll be able to vote for anything, as long as it is pro-white.

Is such a victory even possible? Of course it is. The hegemony of anti-white ideas was established within the lifetimes of many of my readers. We simply need to study how it was created, then use the same techniques to overthrow it and establish a pro-white hegemony in its place.

If we want our people to survive, then we must make our interests and our identity sacrosanct, for what we hold to be sacred is what we will hold onto until the end.

Excellently stated. We’ve made a lot of progress in the last ten years. Our arguments and ideas have become mainstream. Here in Ohio we have a candidate running against Ramswammy for the Republican nomination for governor that’s not shy about openly expressing our opinions. His name is Casey Putcsh. He even hosted a rally at a beer hall. I don’t expect him to win, but he’s a great starting point.

Your observation that American politics becoming an existential struggle between the Left and Right over the demographic future of the country is mostly correct, but there’s a problem. The Left sees it that way, and White Nationalists see it that way, but I don’t believe that most Republicans- politicians or voters, and this includes Trump- see it that way.

The GOP generally, with some exceptions, is not willing to ban/crush/destroy the Left in the same way that the Left is eager to do to the Right, and it is not primarily concerned with protecting White interests. It’s politicians seem to be most concerned with advancing Jewish interests, because that’s what’s sacred to them. Most Republican voters want a colorblind society where race doesn’t matter, and are fine with being replaced legally. I think the Trump admin is actually far closer to us on domestic issues than the average GOP voter is.

Even if the Republicans surprise everyone and keep winning federal elections, they’re not going to do what it takes to smash Leftist hegemony: the donors don’t want that, the politicians would rather not do that, and the voters won’t demand the politicians do that.

I hate to say it, but I don’t see a path to victory through electoral politics at the federal level.

No, not yet. And in the case of Boomers like Trump, they never will. But more people are seeing it, and the younger the age cohort, they more they see it. The extremes are polarizing and the center is disappearing.

I hope that’s the case. There are definitely signs of it.

I will say that even though the last few months have been discouraging, I don’t see this as a result of failures on the part of White Nationalists and fellow travelers. Right now, we just don’t have the power or the following to keep America out of Jewish wars, or to get everything we want on immigration.

The last few years, WNs have made real progress, and I think when you consider how small we are, the fact that we are mostly online, anonymous, and spread out, our lack of millionaire donors and lobbying organizations, we actually punch above our weight considerably in influencing the political discourse and real policy.

While our camp has plenty of disagreements, and there are very real weaknesses (over-the-top conspiracism, extreme anti-woman rhetoric, and the “Imaginary Friend Syndrome” you wrote about last week are probably the three biggest) I have a very high opinion of the people on our side, including those I disagree with about topics like Trump, the Ukraine War, and religion.

I’m convinced we’re heading in the right direction overall, and better days are ahead.

Yes, the failures or Trump as well as Orban are not failures of our ideas or our movement. They are failures to follow our ideas, largely because we have not yet overcome the power of the organized Jewish community and the cheap labor lobby. But younger people are more in tune with us on these issues, and when they become more influential in politics, we will see changes for the better. For our parts, we just need to keep doing what we are doing: wooing more people to our way of thinking.

In this sense, we should imitate the Jews. There is not a White “way” which entails things like extreme individualism, refusal to stand together, and servile deference to the rights of antiwhite media owners] as opposed to the Jewish way of fighting to win, which we are supposedly too good to follow. There is a losing way which has brought our race to the brink of extinction, and there is a winning way which has led small antiwhite minorities to amass hegemonic power in historically White countries around the world. We need to stop doing metapolitical struggle the losing way and start doing it the winning way.

The problem is EVERYONE running EVERY Western nation is a corrupt, filthy bag of shit. Notice the never ending importation of these backward cultures to justify the expansion of government while the commoners quality of life drops . Notice the main focus of government(s) is to pay the lowest parasites in society to breed and then support the result set forever . Its insanity and they all seem to be in on it.                                       The never ending expansion of government and their creation of endless groups of ‘victims’ has resulted in a society of progressive assholes who are SURE they deserve endless free money and programs pushing fantasy projects . The brainwashing is so complete those people are NOW determined to use violence to get those fantasies funded and anyone who doesn’t believe in the bullshit destroyed. It’s social insanity. Just have a conversation with anyone on the left about gender, DEI, global warming, illegals, etc.. and they’re so far out in the weeds its obvious they’re incapable of rational thought.                                          As far as banning the left, i think that ship has sailed. These people took their time, they dug in decade after decade and are now entrenched. I don’t know how we’re gonna deal with them but it’s definitely not going to be through voting. Americans can only fix this political clusterfuck with deliberate organization and action . We need to get rid of both parties and stop falling for the culture war narrative.

Two of my favourite bumper stickers read: “Invest in precious metals. Invest in lead.” and, “There is hope with a scope”.

The whole march through the institutions thing will indeed take a long time but can be done. In the meantime, would it be appropriate to have “MAWA. Make America White Again”, as a slogan? I think that day will be a long way away because Whites are still too timid.  Then again, maybe it will depend on what happens on the global stage. If the shit hits the fan and things go Mad Max, Whites may finally band together.

I think that White extinction will become more obvious as time goes on. A White child could have only one other White child in their class. The park may have nearly all Indians. There will be less White people at your bank branch. It is starting to become more obvious now. The problem is waking people up. People may not realise that multiculturalism will lead to White extinction. We need to respect parenthood more. You can’t expect someone to do a job that is not respected. We should encourage young people to get married and have children. The youth are crucial. They are the age for having children. We need more restrictive abortion laws. Abortion on demand is horrible. We should encourage White people to marry and have children.

By the time we get to that point there probably won’t be any functioning schools and ‘the park’ will simply be an open-air toilet (particularly if Indians have anything to do with it).

I looked at some photographs of English schools. There are classes with only 1-3 White children. There was someone who went to a park in Adelaide, Australia. The park had nearly all Indians in it. The things you mentioned could happen. I live in an area that is still mainly White. I wish that people would wake up to what is going on!

If you want to convince new people of the Great Replacement, offer them a ride in a time machine: show them pictures of where it has already happened, and then ask them what will stop it from coming to their doorstep. Unless we win, nothing will stop it.

We need more restrictive abortion laws. Abortion on demand is horrible. We should encourage White people to marry and have children.

I recently watched season 4 of the superhero series Invincible and noticed that the narrative treated abortion in a very casual way. The main protagonist of the series, Mark, is the strongest superhero on Earth and leaves for several months to fight a villain named Conquest. When he returns home, his girlfriend Eve tells him that she knew she was pregnant before he left but chose not to tell him and that she has aborted his child. Mark immediately begins crying… but then apologizes for putting her in that situation.

The implicit message (in a series aimed at young men) is very anti-family. There’s a lot of focus in Dissident Right spaces at harmful propaganda aimed at young women, which is definitely a huge issue, but IMO there’s also been a push to get young men to internalize harmful ideas.

” No, not yet. And in the case of Boomers like Trump, they never will [see it this way]. But more people are seeing it, and the younger the age cohort, the more they see it. The extremes are polarizing and the center is disappearing. ”

I’m skeptical of the familiar talking point that once those awful Boomers are finally gone, everything will magically get “based.” Things were in big trouble in the USA long before the first Boomers came of age in 1964.

Anyway, Trump will turn 80 in the middle of next month. But do octogenarians really respresent the “controlling” power structure?

Well, some institutions like the billionaire-class do favor elderly members because the older one is, the more time there is to accumulate wealth. It is no surprise that less than 10 percent of billionaires are under age 50.

There are almost a thousand American billionaires today, compared to almost half that number in China, which has a much higher population. India and Germany tie for about twenty percent of the number of billionaires in the United States. The numbers of billionaires creep up ever so slightly each year.

The political power and influence of the billionaire-class is formidable, but probably not the best political strategy for taking power since that club itself is very hard to join.

Trump would never have gotten to where he is otherwise, however. His wealth also allowed him to go his own way to some extent instead of being owned by the donor-class.

The U.S. Congress is also a gerontocracy. You have to be at least age 25 to be elected to the House of Representatives, and 30 for the U.S. Senate. You have to be 35 to be sworn in as President or Vice President of the United States, and either native-born or claiming American citizenship ancestry from parental blood.

The Median age of the U.S. House of Representatives is 58.

The Median age in the Senate is a little older than the House, age 65.

Median means half of the cohort is above that age and half is under it.

Median is usually a slightly lower number than Average because the numbers are not skewed as badly by a handful of extremes.

There is already a starting point with minimum age requirements in Congress because the institution values life experience. The South Carolina Republican, Strom Thurmond did not retire from the U.S. Senate until he turned age 100 (and he died only a few months later).

Generally, Democrat Representatives and Senators are slightly older than Republicans.

In the House, the Gen. Xers are the most predominate, while in the Senate, the largest cohort is still the Baby Boomers.

A quick check of the current, 119th Congress shows the following generational composition:

    U.S. SENATE
About 60 percent are Boomers and about 29 percent are Xers. There are six Silents in the Senate plus five Millennials (very few compared to the House).

    U.S. HOUSE
    24 Silent Generation (1928-1945, a 17 year span).
    170 Boomers (1946-1964, an 18 year span).
    181 Gen. Xers (1965-1980, a 15 year span).
    60 Others (almost all Millennials).

    Millennials (1981-1996) is a 15 year span.
    Zoomers (1997-2012) is a 15 year span.
Gen. Alpha (2013-2028) is a 15 year span.

“Baby Boomers” are simply those born between 1946-1964. I don’t know why Baby Boomers are given a full eighteen-year generational span, and “Silents” a seventeen-year span, while all the other generations have a fifteen-year span.

By my way of thinking, the generations should all have eighteen-year spans. The demographers and marketeers have always had a bone to pick with Boomers for some reason.

And when talking about Baby Boomers, we often get some weird narratives about generational overpopulation, and therefore negative market value. (At least Boomers can figure out a street address without asking their Smart Phone.)

Contrary to some edgy podcasters, demographic market value here is nonsense because the total U.S. fertility from 1946-1964 was not historically high except in comparison to the Great Depression.

In 1800, a woman in her lifetime could expect to have 7.5 children. Today it is 1.7, which is almost a new record LOW ─ which beats the old record Low of 2.1 in 1936 during the Depression, and dipped below the minimum “replacement” level.

In the early part of the 20th century, agriculture was depressed and your typical young man left the farm in his homespun duds and came to the Big City looking for work. If he found a good job, he probably took a wife and started a family.

During the Depression, it was hard to find work even in the Big City. This clearly had an effect upon family-formation and family-size.

Not until after the Second World War, do we squeak above 3.0 children per woman.

The post-WWII birthrate did not catch up to the 1905 level of 3.6 children per woman until 1956.

The record High for the 20th century occurred in 1910 with a woman having 4.1 children in her lifetime. The highest postwar (Baby Boom) birthrate was 3.8 children per woman in 1957.

    woman 1800 7.5 children
    woman 1850 5.5 children

    woman 1900 3.6 children
    woman 1905 3.6 children (c/f 1956)
    woman 1910 4.1 children (record 20th c. HIGH)
    woman 1915 3.5 children

    woman 1920 3.2 children
    woman 1925 2.8 children

    woman 1930 2.4 children
woman 1936 2.1 children (Min. Replacement level)

    woman 1940 2.2 children
    woman 1945 2.4 children
woman 1946 2.9 children (the atrocious “Baby Boom” begins)

    woman 1950 3.5 children
    woman 1955 3.5 children
    woman 1956 3.6 children (c/f 1905)
woman 1957 3.8 children (postwar HIGH)

    woman 1960 3.7 children
woman 1964 3.2 children (Baby Boom ENDS)
    woman 1965 3.1 children

    woman 1970 2.5 children
    woman 1975 1.9 children

woman 1980 1.8 children (old Record LOW)
    woman 1985 1.9 children

woman 1990 2.1 children (min. Replacement level)
woman 1995 2.0 children (below Replacement level)

    woman 2000 2.1 children
    woman 2005 2.1 children

    woman 2010 1.9 children
    woman 2015 2.2 children

woman 2020 1.6 children (new Record LOW)
    woman 2025 1.7 children

So it seems that the amount of human material available to the American nation is literally dwindling before our eyes.

Furthermore, it is obvious that the racial component of births in 1940 was far Whiter than it was in 2015 ─ both years barely above “replacement” birth levels. In 2026, there are far more “No Hablars” afoot than at any other time in our history, and Democrats want them all voting.

We should not give up, of course, but we are unlikely to “vota aquí ” out of this mess. Our current demographic quagmire has been happening for very a long time.

    🙂

Ha! Ain’t it the truth? This is one Boomer who doesn’t care if he never gets a “smartphone.” They are convenient but are making our people lazier and dumber.

Thanks for those stats. Whites are no doubt in a heap of trouble worldwide as we are being pushed out and replaced in our traditional living spaces with little resistance.
