The Nation is the flagship magazine of the American Left. It is also the oldest continuously published weekly magazine in the United States.
The Nation was founded on July 6, 1865, on the ashes of the Confederacy. The Nation was the successor to abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison’s The Liberator, which was closed after the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment to the US Constitution.
Once slavery had been abolished and the Confederacy defeated, The Nation undertook the broader project of reconstructing America on the foundations of the Egalitarian Civil Religion set forth in Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address.”
For 155 years, The Nation has been true to its mission, always pushing politics and culture further to the Left. And the American nation has followed its lead; whether Americans followed enthusiastically or grudgingly, they followed.
What has this to do with Counter-Currents?
The mainstream Right in America wins many battles but continues to lose the overall war with the Left because it has never fundamentally understood the importance of ideas. Yes, conservatives like to quote the title of Richard Weaver’s Ideas Have Consequences. But they don’t have the faintest idea what the book actually says. (At Counter-Currents, we actually read Weaver.)
Moreover, what passes for the ideas of mainstream conservatives — normative anti-racism and pious rot about “all men are created equal” — are indistinguishable from the ideas of the Left, so they are bound to have the same consequences anyway. Conservatives just want to enact radical egalitarianism slowly and legally.
In 1897, Robert Lewis Dabney summed up the uselessness of American conservatism in words that remain true today:
This is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution; to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. . . . Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle.
If the Right is ever to roll back the Left, if we are ever to halt then reverse America’s accelerating march to perdition, we need to uphold the correct “sturdy principles,” namely the rejection of racial egalitarianism and all of its noxious consequences, including the lie of conservative civic nationalism. Moreover, we need to communicate these true principles far and wide, as persuasively as possible, using every available medium. Finally, we need to persist until our ideas reach the tipping point and can change the course of history.
How long will it take? Nobody knows. But if it takes 155 years, we want Counter-Currents to still be there, still reeling America back from the abyss.
What does it take? Money and commitment. We’ll supply the commitment. We need you to supply the money–which of course implies commitment as well. In its 155 years of Left-wing vanguardism, The Nation made a profit only one year. But The Nation persists because people on the Left appreciate the power of ideas. Thus year after year, they donate to keep it fighting.
Counter-Currents is trying to raise $150,000 this year, a tiny fraction of what publications like The Nation raise. Thus far, we have received 564 donations totaling $74,767, for which we are enormously grateful. Thus we are almost halfway there! We will keep the fundraiser going as long as needed but the ultimate deadline is the end of the year, less than four months away.
This year, we are facing an even tougher battle, because Counter-Currents has been politically blacklisted from the entire credit card industry. We take this as a compliment. The Nation and other publications of the Left have never faced this kind of censorship from the plutocracy, and that speaks volumes. But fighting white genocide is going to require a lot more than inconvenience. So please, look into the other ways you can help, which I have listed below.
Counter-Currents used to derive about half of our income from book sales. But in 2019, Counter-Currents was de-platformed from 80% of the global book market by Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. We take this as a compliment too.
In the Fall of 2018, my book The White Nationalist Manifesto was vying with Francis Fukuyama’s Identity — a lame critique of white identity politics — for the top slot in Amazon’s political philosophy and nationalism categories. This frightened the Left, because in a fair debate, they know they can’t win. (My critique of Fukuyama’s book is here, here, and here. Fukuyama still has not responded to The White Nationalist Manifesto.)
Thus, in February of 2019, Amazon unrolled a new campaign of censorship against White Nationalist ideas. The first two books they banned were The White Nationalist Manifesto and Jared Taylor’s White Identity. Eventually, all Counter-Currents books were banned, and in a truly Orwellian turn, Amazon did more than stop selling our books; they also deleted many of their product pages, including customer reviews, so it was as if the books had never been published.
Counter-Currents is thus getting out of the book business. We will complete our Yockey edition and other obligations to authors, then we will focus entirely on our webzine which has the greatest reach and impact. I will continue to publish my own books at Counter-Currents, since no other publisher would have them, but increasingly they will function simply as thank you gifts for our donors.
But it is not all a tale of woe. Despite unprecedented censorship and de-platforming, Counter-Currents has been steadily growing.
In August, we had more than 320,000 unique visitors. America is burning and bleeding because of the consequences of bad ideas. And people are searching for alternatives, which leads them to Counter-Currents. The best way to fight bad ideas is to promote better ideas, and Counter-Currents is the flagship journal of the anti-egalitarian, identitarian Right.

Our enemies correctly calculated that kicking us off PayPal and blacklisting us from credit card processors would eliminate a lot of our less committed supporters, simply by making it inconvenient to donate or buy our products. They were correct.

The left continues to win because it simply appeals to the Christian ethic of universal egalitarian unification. The right wing loses because it wants to oppose this but at the same time wants to continue being a good Christian, in the end it will always end up yielding to its religious principles over its tribal principles, since the idea of redemption after death is the perfect deception to surrender before fighting.

For 2000 years, the white man has been selling universalism all over the world, and consequently he must be the lamb to sacrifice in order to serve as an example to all other subhuman tribes. I clarify this at the end; none of the ideologies produced by the white man has renounced to the Christian ethics; all of them at the end are reduced to the universalistic egalitarianism preached by Paul, well except one that perished in 1945 at the hands of two Jewish-Philic empires.
Yes, the conservative right still has “Judeo-Christian” fundamentals.
However, the Left continues to win not merely because of appeals to values, but because they have a lot of financial, social, and political capital.
The war of positions has been won – hence the Left won’t debate us, because they know they can’t win. But the information war continues. We have to get our message out there, which relies on donations and purchases.
I may be misinformed, but I have heard that for nearly the entirety of its existence, The Nation never made a dime. So it is not a surprise that the J-Right would advocate for “free markets” because they are playing the same side as the Left. (Not that we are allowed to exist in said markets).

The only way forward for the white man is a complete transvaluation of the christian ethics. I do not understand why this is such a difficult issue for so many.
No, a complete revaluation of Christian ethics is what’s needed. As I have said many times in comments here, everything depends upon whether you think Christian claims are true. If you are an atheist or a non-Christian theist, it may be best to ignore Christian ethics, or at least to limit their application to within white circles or nations (but not at all to insult Christians themselves, people who are often among the best in white society, and are one of the few groups which are not inherently hostile to white survival). But what about those who are believing Christians? There are far more believing white Christians, esp but not only in America, than there are white atheists – and there are nearly infinitely more white Christians than there are (atheistic or pagan) white nationalists. It seems to me far wiser to revaluate Christian ethics so as to show the ultimate compatibility between Christianity and white preservation. I am not a theological expert, but also not a complete neophyte, and do believe this showing can be done, and without too much difficulty. Christian ethics are the foundation of Western ethics, and white men for millennia had no moral difficulties with preventing alien conquest, miscegenation or foreign colonization. Of course, I would imagine that Nazism and allied exterminatory ideologies cannot be made consonant with Christianity. But we don’t need those morally problematic ideologies in order to ensure the 14 words.

The whole Christian religion is so riddled with ‘equal before god’, ‘meek shall inherit the earth’ and a lord that base most of his authority on doing super-natural things, that it has to be discarded. It is anti-nature to its core.
The white man needs his mythos. But not from a unnatural book of lies and its corresponding fairytales from the Middle East. It must at its very base spring from something resembling his common psyche, as Jung postulated. Odin, just to name an example, resonates a lot more with what we are than a Jahve who killed millions to save the jews, or his son that walked on water.
And yes, I know about those who claim that christianity is greek (or whatever) and not semitic. But for some reason they do not find very fertile ground with that idea. I can well see why.
Agreed. I have been critical of Christianity even fairly recently but now see this as a huge mistake. The fact is that white Christians will not abandon Christianity. They just won’t. So, by taking a position of anti-Christianity, we are essentially alienating tens of millions of whites, many of whom (according to the polls) have a positive racial identity. Hitler and Rockwell pretty much ignored the religious question, and I believe they were right to do so. Christians have proved that they can subordinate themselves to a non-Christian racial state. Besides, there is plenty of anti-semitic content from various past Christian leaders that can be used for propaganda. As for national socialism, I don’t think it’s an exterminatory ideology any more than broad white nationalism is. I’m a national socialist, and I believe the establishment of a white racial state should be done as humanely as possible.

I believe in the use of extreme violence in defense of mostly moderately and ‘commonsensically’ conservative ends. Although I’m a philosophical agnostic, I totally disagree with those who blame Christianity for the West’s racial decline. The West’s decline has occurred in tandem with its secularization, and even today, white Christians are far more racially preservationist than white atheists or agnostics. I grew up in a very Christian home; my family would be perfectly comfortable with perhaps 90% of the analysis at CC. The notion that a liberal a$$ like the current Pontiff somehow a) is doctrinally correct, and b) representative of the views of most white Catholics, is ludicrous. Ditto the idea that some Episcopalian or Methodist social justice whiner is the “truest” Christian, more so than centuries of white Christians who were both pious and race realistic (or by today’s standard, hugely ‘racist’). Taking Christ seriously does not make one into an SJW; quite the opposite, in theological (if not always also sociological) fact. Finally, white Christian conservatives are the “target-rich” area for intellectually sophisticated white preservationists to go hunting for converts. Who else is there: secular SJWs or other leftists? Libertarians? Really, making the cause of white preservation seen to be hostile to, instead of compatible with, Christian faith, must rank as the dumbest prowhite approach out there.
You’re right. And this is one of the biggest obstacles we face.
Christian Europe had racial good sense historically, I’d argue, because they made Christianity what they wanted it to be, didn’t take it all that “seriously”. That is to say, they weren’t fundamentalists; it was just a face of inspiration and mythology, an aesthetically pleasing bulwark against unknown earthly and spiritual malevolences. As soon as “personal relationship with Christ” or Social Gospel becomes a priority, the Christian becomes dangerous to himself and his tribe.
The difficulty of convincing a bunch of Christians that they should stop caring what the Bible says and, rather, see it as an inimical book written by a would-be conqueror who’d like to subjugate them, cannot be overemphasized. For them, God said it, and that settles it. They CAN be convinced, but not easily, and certainly not with condescending Vargtard pagan elitism.

The Right in America keeps losing because it barely exists. This site and a few other racial-realist dots of light are the only real right in America. “Conservatives”, who are far more numerous than Rightists, are actually liberals. They agree with the other liberals, the liberals proper, on all the big questions, especially as to the liberal credo that “all men are created equal”, and they keep yielding more and more ground. For instance, following the lead of the liberals proper, conservatives now agree that there should be no stigma attached to homosexuality, so they accept someone like Richard Grennell and the president who appointed him ambassador to Germany, as their own. Lord, strike me down but do not let me become one of the contemptible creatures called a “conservative”.

No, no, no!
The Right, including most of the Dissident Right such as Counter-Currents, has loads of ideas good and bad and can’t stop talking about them. Ideas are your comfort zone, words are the weapon you bring to an artillery barrage. Ideas are nearly irrelevant to political and cultural clashes, except in the aftermath when justifying a fait accompli.
Ordinary people not claiming the status of intellectuals (i.e., the sector of the population large enough to matter) don’t take a stand because they are persuaded by ideas. Least of all do they take action because of manifestos.
What does motivate them? Self-interest. You have to show them, as stRiki-Eikingly as possible, where their interests lie while specifying bluntly what they need to do, rather than what they should think. There is a place for expressing and discussing ideas, but it isn’t amid the shot and shell of the battle for civilization.
