Martin Heidegger es uno de los gigantes de la filosofía del siglo veinte, tanto en términos de profundidad y originalidad de sus ideas, y en el aliento de su influencia en la filosofía, teología, ciencias humanas, y la cultura en general.

Heidegger nació el 26 de septiembre de 1889, en la ciudad de Meßkirch en el distrito de Sigmarignen en Baden-Württemberg, Alemania. Murió el 26 de mayo de 1976 en Friburgo y fue enterrado en Meßkirch. 

Heidegger era de una familia católica de clase baja. Su familia era demasiado pobre para mandarlo a la universidad, así que se enlistó en un seminario jesuita. Pero Heidegger pronto fue rechazado por los jesuitas por una condición cardíaca. El entonces estudio teología en la Universidad de Friburgo de 1909 a 1911, posteriormente cambió su enfoque a la filosofía. Eventualmente Heidegger rompió enteramente con el cristianismo.

Heidegger sabía que los judíos no eran alemanes, y que los judíos eran los mayores promovedores del sistema que él rechazaba. Al final, Heidegger creía que el Tercer Reich falló de liberarse a sí mismo ya Europa de las pinzas del materialismo soviético y anglosajón. Heidegger no era, sin embargo, un ludista. No entendemos porque pensamos que podemos entenderlo todo. Y estamos literalmente maravillados con la idea de que podemos controlarlo todo. Pero una vez que reconocemos esto, el hechizo se rompe, somos libres de retornar a quienes siempre-hemos sido y estamos destinados a ser.

Pero en términos propios de Heidegger, es aún posible combinar la civilización tecnológica con un sistema arcaico de valores, rechazar la esencia de la tecnología y afirmar las raíces y la diferenciación. Esto es lo que Guillaume Faye llama “arqueofuturismo”.

Por último, la filosofía de Heidegger –particularmente su explicación del ser humano en el tiempo, su ontología fundamental, su explicación de la historia de occidente, y su crítica a la modernidad y la tecnología- es de mayor significancia al proyecto de la Nueva Derecha Estadounidense que su conexión con el Nacional Socialismo.
