War shapes societies. The so-called “forgotten war,” the Korean War of 1950 to 1953, shaped America in many ways. It was the first genuinely hot conflict between the free world, led by the United States, and the Communist world, led by the Soviet Union. Events in Korea led to a multi-decade Cold War which either blew hot or threatened to blow hot in many parts of the globe. The Korean War also came as a surprise. A bigger surprise was the fact that the American military, which had so overwhelmingly triumphed in the Second World War, had atrophied in just five years. The first year of the conflict was filled with humiliating retreats and setbacks.
The war also shaped America in that the conflict caused the national security state to come into being. (more…)

The third-party candidate who had different ideas was Ross Perot, a Texas billionaire. Even the victorious British were reliant on American aid. But American society was beset with three different kinds of problems. Now there is a Pole memed round the world . . . On the December 12, 2023, Polish MP Grzegorz Braun used a fire extinguisher to put out the lights on a hanukkiah (incorrectly referred to as a menorah in most reports) in the Polish Parliament. The questions everyone on the dissident Right is asking are how did that happen, and is Grzegorz Braun our guy? Just to spoil the fun for everyone right away: no, he is not our guy, and his intentions were not 100% “red-pilled.” Probably the best comparison we can make to anglosphere politics is to say that Braun is a “Catholic Alex Jones” of sorts. American culture is still spinning wildly from the assassination of US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963 by a self-radicalized antifa gunman acting alone. American liberals and Leftist sympathizers in particular have had a tough time dealing with the murder. Kennedy’s widow later remarked that “[JFK] didn’t even have the satisfaction of being killed for civil rights. It had to be some silly little Communist.”
Jacqueline Kennedy’s remarks perfectly sum up the snobbery and inability to read data that is essential to the mentality of JFK’s political base. Jacqueline Kennedy could have rightly pointed out that Kennedy died fighting Communism in the same way he’d valiantly lived fighting Communism. (more…)
