If it’s always sunny in Philadelphia, then why did it rain there on my gay wedding? Regardless, even a spring thunderstorm couldn’t wash away the joy of that outdoor event. Whatever the clouds above were doing I was on cloud nine, and it seemed that everyone from the wedding attendees to the city employees who later gave me my official marriage certificate was as happy for me as I was. Hello, and welcome to Celebrity Paedophiles!
The phrase “two-tier policing”, coined by then-Tory Home Secretary Suella Braverman in 2023, has widened out in semantic scope to become, first, the “two-tier justice system”, and now, the “two-tier society”. (more…)

The classic question to ask a leftist true believer is “How much progress is too much progress?” In other words, at what point would today’s radical iconoclast turn into tomorrow’s stodgy reactionary? While important regarding the nature of today’s politics, this question is essentially beside the point, since whoever would answer it honestly likely has little control over the ebbs and flows of history. The world’s eyes were on Western Europe in Sunday’s European Union elections, where dramatic results were expected in France and Germany. Angelo Plume has already offered an account of these results. But unusual things have been happening in Hungary as well, which has been a focal point of hope for populism ever since Prime Minister Viktor Orbán began his current tenure in 2010.
Hungary wields little power in comparison to the “great nations” of Western Europe. Hungary is only allotted 21 seats out of 720 in the European Parliament, compared to Germany’s 96 and France’s 81. (more…)

It’s official: There will be no more Boy Scouts.
Don’t panic: There will still be Scouts who are boys. There will also be Scouts who are girls.
There will also continue to be Girl Scouts who are boys, so long as they identify as girls. And there will still be Girl Scouts who are biological girls.
Just no more Boy Scouts. (more…)

Sean “Diddy” Combs: The Hip-Hop Jeffrey Epstein?
One thing that federal informants never seem to realize is that the federal government is not their friend. It can turn on them and lock them away for life whenever it sees fit.
I’m not saying that hip-hop billionaire mogul Sean Combs — who was born in Harlem as Sean John Combs 54 years ago and at some point legally changed his middle name from “John” to “Love,” but who over the years has been known to the public as Sean “Puffy” Combs, then Puff Daddy, then P. Diddy, and for the past couple of decades mostly as “Diddy” — is a federal informant. (more…)

I would be lying if I said I try to avoid pop culture, because it really doesn’t take much effort. When you are young, you pick stuff up from being around other young people, and if you are a parent, you pick stuff up from your kids. But I’m old and have no kids, and I find that if you don’t listen to the radio in the car and only watch Turner Classic Movies, it is actually quite easy to completely lose touch with pop culture. I’m perfectly happy having no idea who the latest singers and teen heartthrobs are. (more…)

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley grilled US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas about the crisis on the Mexican border on February 2, stating in part that Mayorkas’ performance was “despicable” and that his unwillingness to provide answers was “absolutely atrocious.” Mayorkas attempted to deflect blame by stating that he is the child of a holocaust survivor, thereby implying that he, and by extension most Jews, should be above criticism.
It was hard to tell if he was being devious or if this is what he actually believes. Mayorkas’ blunder was so egregious I wouldn’t be surprised if Jonathan Greenblatt gave him a call afterwards about feeding “problematic anti-Semitic tropes.” (more…)

Bradley Cooper is a superb actor and director. I loved his A Star Is Born with Lady Gaga. So when I heard that Cooper was starring in and directing Maestro, a biopic about composer-conductor Leonard Bernstein, I had to see it.
Maestro is a masterful work of acting and directing. Bradley Cooper really brings Leonard Bernstein to life. Carey Mulligan is also superb as Bernstein’s wife Felicia. Indeed, there are no weak performances. The sets and costumes are meticulous. (more…)
