Antisocial: Online Extremists, Techno-Utopians, and the Hijacking of the American Conversation
New York: Viking, 2019
For the past five years, New Yorker scribe Andrew Marantz has been working a steady beat, writing about Internet trolls and dank memes on the Far Right (which in his mind is still the “Alt Right”). Antisocial is a compilation of some of those writings, strung together with some outtakes and new material.

Recent weeks have seen a few public figures take some surprising and welcome shifts to the Right.
First, Ann Coulter has started retweeting White Nationalists and hanging out with Holocaust revisionists. The day after Trump’s April 13 airstrikes on Syria, Ms. Coulter let loose a flurry of anti-war retweets from various other Right-wing commentators, including three from The Right Stuff’s Mike Enoch. This caused a media panic and Mike Enoch’s Twitter account was deleted within a matter of days. (more…)

Good and Evil
One of the most popular lines of argument against our recent arguments in defense of paternalism (see here, here and here) goes something like this: “If evil doesn’t meaningfully exist as a choice, then neither does good.”

Everything is going exactly according to plan. This is what super-villains always say, usually just before their plans are upset. (“Seize him, you fools! He’s getting away!”) So, I am may be tempting fate by saying such a thing, but actually I don’t think so. As of late it really does seem like something — Providence, the Invisible Hand, the Cunning of Reason, or what have you — has been at work behind the scenes, helping our cause. In truth, we don’t have a plan, but events are unfolding as if someone does, and as if that someone is smiling upon us (perhaps from atop his perch in Asgard). (more…)

Henrik Palmgren and I had a wide-ranging 2-hour conversation on doxing, including the Millennial Woes and Mike Enoch cases, Hailgate, the self-defeating trap of identifying White Nationalism with National Socialism, and the necessity of ending the “trolls’ veto” of real world community-building and networking. You can listen here. I want to thank Henrik and the whole Red Ice team for making this possible. (more…)

I met Mike Enoch in December of 2014 at an NRx gathering in Manhattan. I instantly recognized his voice and struck up a conversation. He gave me his normie email address, and later that evening, on the long Metro North ride back to Westchester County, I did a Google search on his name and put together a pretty full picture of his life, including his wife’s Jewish surname. I leaned back on the uncomfortable bench, closed my eyes, and thought, “I wonder how long this star will streak across the firmament before burning out.” (more…)
