On June 22, 2026, during an appearance on the Can’t Be Censored podcast, Tucker Carlson said “I’m out” of the Republican Party and there was “no chance” he would support them moving forward. The specific reason he gave is the catastrophic Iran War, which was fought for Israeli/Jewish interests, not American interests.

On July 1, 2026, the Columbia Journalism Review published an exclusive interview with Carlson. In it, Tucker announced “I’m going to help build a third party.” The party will be populist in nature, focused strictly on the common good of American citizens. (more…)

When Barack Obama was sworn in as president in January of 2009, the most influential conservative commentator in the United States was talk radio host Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh was a loyal supporter of all things Republican, and hostile to government intervention in the economy, instead preferring the more hands-off approach typical of his party. But this was not the mood of most of the electorate in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. When Obama achieved a landslide victory through promises of Left-wing economic reforms, Limbaugh was naturally disappointed, and regarded the Obama presidency with deep suspicion. (more…)

Dear Vice President Vance,

Since this is an open letter, please indulge me as I spell out some things that you surely know but which some readers may not.

Donald Trump has done the impossible. He has created a global humanitarian and political crisis, yet he has managed to get most of the world to tune it out simply by lying about it continually. Trump has now announced that a “deal” with Iran is imminent 39 times. This is what Steve Bannon called “flooding the zone with bullshit.” (more…)

Last week on X, boomers again struggled in public to understand inflation. This time, they told young people to eat highly processed bread and meat for lunch, or some other form of slop, so that in ten years they could afford a down payment on a house. I’m calling it the Lunch Wars. (more…)

In our current rainbow-saturated world, it can often be quite difficult to determine which countries are and are not officially gay at the moment. Holland? Sure. Canada? Of course. Russia? Definitely not. South Korea? The jury’s still out. France? Only at weekends and on public holidays. The United States of America? Depends which state you’re in, I guess.

Clearly what is needed is a Big Gay Map of the Planet™ to settle such disputes once and for all. (more…)

Emile Zola’s 1892 novel Le  Débâcle is almost familiar reading these days, for when I recall this book, while set in the supposedly serene and ordered nineteenth century, has a horror of déjà vu that shrouds America, Iran, and the Donald.

The novel, part of a series Zola wrote to capture France in the nineteenth century and especially the Second Empire, deals with the collapse of Napoleon III’s empire from the Franco-Prussian war of 1870 as told through the eyes of French soldiers Jean Macquart and Maurice Levasseur; the first a peasant and former soldier and the second, a bourgeois. Péter Magyar’s landslide victory over Viktor Orbán in the April 2026 Hungarian election presents both a problem and solution to the American Right. It indicates that the Republicans will be slaughtered in the 2026 midterms and quite possibly the 2028 presidential election — if things stay the same. But it also shows a path to not just an electoral victory, but a landslide like Magyar’s.

We cannot blindly extrapolate from the Hungarian electorate to the American. (more…)

So why are we turning on Trump? Why are we anathematizing the man and burying him with ad hominems? Why are we treating him like an enemy or a traitor? And, more importantly, why are we jeopardizing the November elections by fracturing the MAGA coalition which helped put him the White House to begin with?

Of course, the obvious answer is that by invading Iran for no good reason Trump turned on us first. He betrayed us. He broke his promises about no new wars and displayed sheer contempt for his base and everyone else with this stupid and pointless invasion. (more…)

Unfortunately, we are in the midst of one of the worst global crises in living memory where escalation is being recklessly pursued by Benjamin Netanyahu in particular and the Israel Lobby more generally.
