    Is Xenophilia a Mental Illness?

    1,583 words

A Vice article published on Tuesday has reignited the debate over whether racism (or “pathological bias,” to use the clinical term proposed by psychiatrists) should be considered a mental illness and included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In turn, I would like to raise the question of whether pathological xenophilia should be considered a mental illness. (more…)

How Coronavirus Will Change the World

    1,682 words

Coronavirus is going to change the world. I just hope that I live to see it, along with the people I care about.

I call the Coronavirus the “Globalvirus,” because globalism is the underlying condition that made it all possible.

    O relativismu

    145 words

    English original here

“Filosofický” relativismus bezpochyby představuje jednu z nejhorších chorob zachvacujících naši společnost. Mezi jeho charakteristické rysy patří jeho neurčitý charakter, pseudovědecká logika a nádech tolerance (představující největší hodnotu našeho postmoderního světa), všechny dohromady mu pak vtiskují rysy, jež jej zvýhodnují oproti konkurenčním filosofickým proudům. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: The Remake

    702 words

David Fincher’s big-star, big-budget, English-language remake of the 2009 Swedish film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was certainly not necessary from an artistic point of view. The original film, directed by Dane Niels Arden Oplev, was extremely well-acted and well-made. For fans of the novel, it is iconic.

The obvious motive for the remake, of course, was money. (more…)

    The Baader-Meinhof Complex

    1,660 words

German director Uli Edel’s The Baader-Meinhof Complex (2008) is a riveting portrayal of the career of the Red Army Fraction (Rote Armee Fraktion), a left-wing terrorist group better known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang after Andreas Baader and Ulrike Meinhof, two of the group’s founders. The other founders were Gudrun Ensslin and Horst Mahler (now a comrade on the Right and a prisoner of conscience in Occupied Germany).

    Relativism

    175 words

    Translated by Michael O’Meara

    Czech translation here

Of all the pathologies afflicting our society, “philosophical” relativism is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous, for its diffuse character, pseudoscientific logic, and air of tolerance (the highest value in our postmodern world) give it a distinct advantage over its philosophical competitors.
