The tale of one of the most shameful anti-white hoaxes of the last twenty years has finally come to a close. Crystal Mangum, a black woman who is now serving a lengthy prison sentence for the 2011 murder of her boyfriend, finally admitted that she falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of raping her at an off-campus party in 2006. The three students she accused, David Evans, Collin Finnerty, and Reade Seligmann, underwent an ordeal of persecution by the legal system, their school, and much of the media before all charges against them were ultimately dropped. Since then, the innocence of the three has been common knowledge, but until this month, Mangum had never acknowledged her own dishonesty. (more…)

I recently watched the 1966 movie The Bible: In the Beginning. It was the last of the big-budget movies with a cast of thousands and a plot centered on ancient history. In the 1950s, these sorts of films — The Robe (1953), The Ten Commandments (1956), Ben Hur (1959) — were big winners. The Bible, however, didn’t capture the magic of those earlier features. If, say, I was standing in line for coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts and a masked bandit were to sneak up behind me and inject me with heroin, I do not doubt that such a forcible and unsolicited attack would psychologically damage me. I would feel . . . violated.

I don’t know anyone who would enjoy being stuck with a needle while innocently standing in line at Dunkin’ Donuts — and if they did, they must be some kind of sick pervert!

But once having been injected with the heroin against my will, I suppose it would be possible to relax and enjoy its pain-killing and euphoric effects. (more…)
