On September 10, 2021, my wanderings carried me to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where I had the privilege of witnessing the homecoming of Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum, one of thirteen American Marines killed during the evacuation of Kabul. Rylee was 20 years old, a husband, and an expectant father. In one of the more wrenching sentences I have recently read, the Oil City News reported that the McCullom family plans to postpone the funeral until Rylee’s child is born.
As I draft this piece over cigarettes and coffee in a gas station parking lot, a crush of flag-festooned pickups creeping past me on their way out of town, I know that for the rest of my life, this is how I will remember 9/11.
Young as I am, I can only vaguely recall the events of September 11, 2001. Rylee McCollum, younger even than me, was an infant when the towers fell. I cannot remember a time when my country was not entangled in the so-called War on Terror, and the same holds true for Rylee McCollum. I was raised in a progressive milieu, where I was exposed to many destructive ideas. But my elders were at least consistent enough to condemn the brutal Middle Eastern wars in which “our” country was — and still is — engaged. Rylee seems to have come of age in a place where such wars were lionized.[1] Still, it is praiseworthy to brave hazards and undertake great tasks if one believes they are noble and good. A young man of 20 can be forgiven for not seeing through the lies.
And lies they were.
Rylee McCullom did not die pursuing justice for the 9/11 attacks. Even if one accepts the official narrative on the events of that day, the proper response would have been a stringent ban on Muslim immigration to the United States and a humane, orderly, incentive-based effort to repatriate any Muslims already present on American soil. Instead, the number of Muslims in the United States, as well as in our European brother-nations, has boomed over the intervening two decades.
Rylee did not die to spread “freedom and democracy” to Pashtun tribesmen — a perverse goal if ever there was one, but one that is at least comprehensible in terms of naïve, messianic liberal universalism. No, Rylee McCollum died so that the enemies of mankind could “wash money out of the tax bases of the US and Europe through Afghanistan and back into the hands of a transnational security elite,” as Julian Assange famously put it.
Rylee died to serve the geopolitical machinations of the Zionists who wish to encircle and eventually invade Iran.
Rylee died so that the Afghan narcotics trade could be rejuvenated, providing black money to destabilize other nations on the Zionist hit list. We will probably never trace the flow of this drug money, but it would not surprise me in the least if some went to the takfiris who turned Syria and Libya into killing fields, which in turn accelerated race replacement in Europe. The fact that it was all paid for by countless Americans whose lives were blighted and destroyed by heroin is our rulers’ idea of poetry.
For these infernal reasons, a yet-unborn infant in Wyoming will grow up without a father.
None of this will be news to the discerning readership at Counter-Currents. These are the unfortunate facts of our situation, which must be regarded with cool-headed acceptance, even as we work to change them in the future. As Greg Johnson put it in his opening remarks to the Counter-Currents 9/11 Symposium, “we have to look back at 9/11 coldly or the same horrors will be occurring ten years from now as well.” I concur with this sentiment, and as regards the events of 9/11 themselves, as well as the ensuing 20 years of war and suffering, I think I have come reasonably close to this ideal. I have become accustomed to the lies they tell us and the evils they commit in our name, and while I hate these puppet-masters, the raw outrage that consumed me when I first learned the truth has given way to something cold and calculating. However, on September 10, 2021, I was visited by just the sort of wild and caustic hatred Greg warned us against above.
On the afternoon of September 10th, I walked around Jackson Town Square and watched as the assembled well-wishers unfurled their flags and readied their arsenal of tired clichés about the supposed freedoms that Rylee McCollum had died defending. Listening to little snatches of their conversations, I was filled from head to toe with an all-consuming contempt for the entire crowd. These corn syrup-swilling, platitude-mouthing, media-addled retards also bear some responsibility for the fact that young Rylee McCullom had been fed into the woodchipper of Afghanistan — more fertilizer for the harvest of evil our overlords have planted.
Beset by emotion, I made the mistake of sharing my thoughts with a mustachioed middle-aged fellow who wanted to talk to me about the state of things. Although I put things much more delicately than above, the conversation still escalated into a bit of a scene. I fully admit that it was not the proper time and place for such a conversation, but even now I find myself clenching my jaw at the fact that I was the one accused of disrespecting the dead. What greater disrespect could there be to the memory of Rylee McCollum than to rehearse the very lies that got him killed in the first place?
In that moment, my hatred for my fellow countrymen far exceeded my hatred for the real war criminals. Only now, as I sit and scribble in the aforementioned gas station parking lot, do I realize how blind I was. How rare and precious it is, in this degenerate age, that Wyomingites by the thousand turned out to show their respects to a stranger, for the simple reason that he wasn’t all that strange: He was one of them.
That feeling of identity is what words like “community spirit,” “solidarity,” and “patriotism” try to capture. What I bore witness to was a vestige of the American nation that our overlords are busy replacing with a multiracial shopping mall. It is normies like them, not rootless cosmopolitans like me, who keep alive the last remnants of American nationhood, even while their loyalty, solidarity, and patriotism are being exploited by their enemies.
It is evil to exploit people’s vices. It is obscene to exploit their virtues.
No matter how thoroughly their minds are rotted by propaganda, the Patriots of Flyover Country will always correctly be viewed by our enemies as a threat. This is why Ashli Babbitt, who enlisted after 9/11 and served 14 years in the military only to die for the feckless traitor Trump, was compared to the 9/11 hijackers by the feckless fool Bush in his speech marking the 20th anniversary of the attacks.
We were warned that the War on Terror would come home. Now white American patriots have been branded the number one threat to the regime. We should never lose sight of the real enemy. Let the patriots tend the sacred fire of fidelity while we work to create a country worthy of them.
Rest in peace, Rylee McCullom. Whenever September 11 rolls around, I’ll remember you, and the rest of the deluded, good-hearted people of Jackson Hole.

[1] See, for example, this article from the Cowboy State Daily, an excerpt from which I present here to substantiate my impression of the ideological environment in which LCpl McCollum was raised: “Kathy McCollum also called her son a sacrificial lamb and noted that Trump would never have allowed the Taliban to retake control of Afghanistan . . . ‘I can’t live with knowing my son’s life was taken for nothing,” Kathy McCollum said. ‘So Biden could repay his debt to China. They will now have full control of Afghanistan and my son will be a sacrificial lamb. My son was murdered for Biden optics.’”

Nice piece Shawn. I had to suffer through the boring cliches that you did this past Saturday. Even my own wife can’t get past them. She can’t see that our military does not defend our country at all, and she’s no dummy. Don’t be mad at these people. Mr. Johnson explains quite eloquently that these are the people we need to persuade. Delicately explain your stance. I myself have managed to get some people on our side.
I came close to enlisting. By now, I’m glad that I didn’t.
I’m much older than you Shawn and remember a time when the US was one people. With the “These corn syrup-swilling, platitude-mouthing, media-addled retards”** that you write about, not all of them are evil. A lot are just lazy or unwilling to change their world views when things don’t seem to add up. Also the MSM (main stream media) has a nearly complete lock on information.
I just read somewhere that the General Secretary of the UN issued a statement or report that the global situation is getting much worse in terms of unrest and instability. He mentioned that Covid contributed but this situation exists even without Covid. Yet I’m sure their solution will be doubling down on the same lower-IQ immigrant, globalization, and war-like policies that created this whole mess. They won’t even consider changing course as considerations like ours are proscribed and are completely off the table.
I think the way forward at this point is patiently trying to teach those that can be. However, as Morpheus said in “The Matrix”, many will not accept new information and prefer to persist in their old patterns.
** A non-sequitor. The cheaper types of pancake syrup you see in stores are actually corn or rice syrup with maple flavoring.
I wonder if the failure in Afghanastan and cultural marxism inside the military will cause a decrease in the number of whites who join the military. I don’t believe the military can function properly without whites in the majority, and I’m talking about traditional conservative whites. Have whites learned there lesson? Will the military and big city police departments lose enough people to the point that they become skeleton crews? If that happens, it will backfire on the elites.
Not suggesting this as a business plan but the opportunities for grand scale home invasion robberies are there now. You could also start up an alarm company to salve the demand.

I would be lying if I claimed to understand Assange’s (famous) quote. Can anyone enlighten me, or suggest further reading?
I don’t wanna be an asshole but I’ve read into this quite a bit and the guys wife is black his kid will be a Mulatto and his mother is a complete MAGA Q tard who was ranting down the phone about how Trump and the republican party would have saved her son by keeping American forces in Afghanistan in perpetual warfare getting thousands of other peoples sons killed in the process,
Its really not easy to resent these people I just don’t understand how you can be so blind and ignorant to everything around you.
Great comment. I completely agree and will add another one, that most people will hate and maybe CC will ban me for it, but sometimes the ugly truth has to be said. In recent weeks as many and more white people have died in my town from COVID. Just a week ago two young Volunteer firefighters have been buried one after the other. I am talking about rural Missississippi where I live. The lack of any precaution is apparent in every public place. I firmly believe, although the crowd won’t admit it, the anti-Vaxxer movement is also anti-White, even more so since affects the white-well being, NOW, as opposed to what people believe, the anti-abortion campaign is a long term self-defeating for the white future. Just my 2c.
Really? I don’t know a single person that has died of it out of the 50 or so that have gotten it. It seems incredibly unlikely for young healthy people in rural MS to be dying of a disease that, statistically speaking, only kills people that are already dying.
Nobody yet knows why some people die, and some don’t. My wife works as a nurse with the military veterans (incidentally she contracted Covid from the WW2 veteran). Few infected in their late 90’s didn’t have any symptoms, but some died. Also, an (unvaccinated) security guard 32 from the same facility, died. None of the nurses and aids, who got infected had the same symptoms and recovery times. The story about two firefighters is true. And I doubt they were at the ‘end of life’. I don’t believe Government should mandate it, but everyone should make an educated decision. Emphasis on educated.
When you say anti-vaxxer, do you mean opponents of compulsory ‘vaccination’, or do you mean people who oppose the ‘vaccine’ per se? Agree with you on abortion, btw.
I’m torn on abortion. it’s hard to look at the mess afterwards and call it anything but murder. On the other hand, it disproportionately effects minorities and acts as voluntary population control for them.
It’s a horrible thing, certainly. The problem is that if you don’t have eugenics then you’ll have dysgenics. There’s no neutral gear. If we’re not going to leave eugenics to natural selection then we need to have measures in place that will mitigate against the unfit passing on their genes. Abortion will, inevitably, have a part to play in this.
Noooo, say it ain’t so. Strapping Irish kid went and had a half caste?
Yes. The wife also appears quite ghetto, and from at least one photo looks to have also been military. Probably where they met. Another negative and all too common feature of military life–widespread fondness for race mixing.
And over a million dollars has already been raised for the mother and child through a fund where all the donations from white conservatives are fast accumulating. For the sacrifice made for protecting their freedoms, of course.
It has become increasingly clear over the last year or so that our side is simply very stupid and incapable of stopping what has and is happening.
This. Wife is black with facial piercings. She’s hit the ghetto lottery between his death benefits and all the donations by color-blind normie Americans. She’s also been given a free house. I’m sorry a young White man died unnecessarily in a shithole part of the world where no American ought to be, but let’s not lionize him merely because he prematurely died due to voluntarily serving an evil American empire. His legacy is a mulatto son who will grow up to revile his father’s race, so I don’t see how McCollum’s death is such a dreadful loss.
Hopefully his child gets the death pension. They get one right? McCollum. Son of the Dove.
Teton County, where the town of Jackson is located, is a nest of Demoncrap cockroaches. It went for Joe Biden over Trump by a whopping 67 to 30, close to an exact reversal of the vote of the state as a whole. The county is also much richer than the rest of the state. In light of that, I would question how representative the crowd the author described really was of White America. I suspect a good portion of it consisted of liberals who like to affect a cowboy/working class aesthetic by buying $70,000 pickup trucks and $400 Stetson hats, but who are solidly on the side of globohomo. Such people opposed war on Muslims for the sake of quelling terrorist organizations, but they favor war on the “bad” Muslims in order to help the “good” Muslims, which is to say, those who disdain their tradition and religion in order to embrace faggotry, feminism, financialism, and the rest of globohomo ideology. The latter type of Muslim was in charge in Afghanistan until the Taliban (bad Muslims if ever there were any) overthrew them, and liberals would have perceived Rylee McCollum as their heroic defender. In addition, the Teton County liberals had likely seen the widespread picture of McCollum’s black girlfriend, which was sure to endear him to them.
As for McCollum, he was not on our side. He was, literally and figuratively, a soldier in the ranks of the enemy. He fathered a non-White halfbreed, another enemy for us. I, for one, don’t regret that he won’t father another. Just as importantly: if things come to a head, he won’t be shooting at us.
The only proper way to understand liberals is as malignant nihilists who take the side of evil, falsehood, ugliness, filth, and death on all issues, all the way, all the time.
