Several months ago, I polled my family to plan our summer vacation and we settled on a trip to Washington DC I unwittingly chose the week of the America 250 celebrations, and while I’m as aware as anyone that Washington DC is no longer a welcome place for my family, I nonetheless wanted the experience for both myself and my children, as I’ve never been inside the Beltway. It was only after plans were booked that I happened across the America 250 publicity, and I was pleasantly surprised by the coincidence. (more…)

On September 10, 2025, conservative youth activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a campus event at Utah Valley University. The assassin was 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a Utah native who was raised by a conservative Mormon family, but who had been radicalized to the far-left in the preceding years. (more…)

The recent trend of adding words such as broughtupsy and carry-go-bring-come—terms originating from Jamaican dialect into the Oxford English Dictionary represents a significant degradation of the English language. While dictionaries are, by their nature, descriptive rather than prescriptive, the deliberate inclusion of colloquialisms over abstract, sophisticated, and idea-laden words signals a shift in what is considered “worthy” of codification. On August 26, Apple+ released the trailer for an upcoming miniseries called The Savant. From the trailer, it looked like a series about a woman who by day is a soccer mom in an interracial marriage but by night is an antiracist super-spy. She goes into a secret bunker where she logs on to a computer and infiltrates “hate groups” in order to thwart their violent plans. (more…)

This week, Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth ordered every general to attend a meeting with himself and President Trump at Quantico on short notice. The purpose was to clearly emphasize that the era of the Department of Defense, which Hegseth characterized as the Department of Woke, is over. (more…)

Many of the people who joined in the attacks on Watson in 2007 must have known that what he said about racial differences was accurate. After all, if he had simply been unaware of all the studies demonstrating that racial IQ gaps are environmental in origin, these could easily and quietly have been brought to his attention. There would have been no need to impugn the man’s character publicly.

To make audiences laugh the filmmakers must share certain frames of reference with them—things against which other things can go splat, so to speak. Since frames of reference change over time, making lasting comedies often requires finding the right frames of reference. (more…)
