Looking for Mr. Goodbar is a lesser-known 1970s Diane Keaton film, but that does not really say a lot when you consider that her well-known films from that decade include all-time classics such as The Godfather films and Woody Allen’s glory-years entries such as Annie Hall. Add to this the fact that Looking for Mr. Goodbar has been notoriously difficult to find. While it is occasionally shown on TV, it has never been released on DVD or Blu Ray and is not available on any streaming service due to music licensing issues arising from its disco-era soundtrack. But the film made a splash when it was released in 1977 and even had the distinction of being the movie that ended Star Wars’ 15-week run at the top of the box office. (more…)

The first day of August is one of the four cross-quarter solar holidays. It’s known as either Lammas or Lughnasadh, depending on whether you’re of the Saxon or the Celtic persuasion. (If “Blessed be!” is a common greeting for you, then you get it. If not, I’ll just say welcome to the hottest part of the year — and this year’s been a doozy.) It’s one of the traditional harvest festivals, which of course has a secondary meaning: death.

Things often get pretty wonky for me on August 1; if it’s not the Grim Reaper dropping by for a social call, then it’s some other fine mess. Also, the day falls on a Full Moon this year. (more…)

Leftists ruin everything. Nothing, not even children’s toys, is immune from their hateful ideology. A case in point is Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. There are countless women who played with Barbie dolls as children, put them aside when they grew up, and occasionally think nostalgically about them without ever suspecting that they were the targets of Leftist consciousness-raising. But from the very start, Barbie sets them straight.

Barbie begins with a voiceover that sounds like a witch. In the bad old days, little girls only played with baby dolls, which their cunning parents foisted on them to brainwash them into wanting to become mothers. (more…)

I found Dr. Robert Jensen’s recent interview at Counter-Currents with Hubert Collins refreshing and thought-provoking. It is very seldom that a Leftist academic is willing to have a discussion with White Nationalists at all, and I admire his open-mindedness. He articulated the basis of his outlook very well. Most Leftists take their own outlook for granted and never explain why anyone else ought to share their positions; they react with hysteria to any disagreement. (more…)

Robert Jensen is an archetypal Leftist academic: a feminist, an anti-capitalist, an anti-imperialist, and someone who belivies in institutional racism. He was denouncing “white privilege” well before doing so became fashionable, and his feminism is of the radical variety, at odd’s with today’s wishy-washy “girl boss” posturing. I read his book Getting Off: Pornography and the End of Masculinity as a teenager, and was impressed that unlike most conservative critics of porn, Prof. Jensen had actually done his homework.
