The recent film Oppenheimer brought a renewed interest in the history of atomic espionage. The names certainly echo throughout history: Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, David Greenglass, Morton Sobell, William Perl, Harry Gold, and more. Then there are other notables, more obscure but whose activities were considerably more damaging than the above-named. One was known in the Venona decrypts — a batch of intercepted Soviet cable traffic in the 1940s — by the codenames FOGEL and PERS. It still remains a mystery who “Perseus” really was, but this might have been Oppie himself, among other possibilities. (more…)

What are the political dimensions of globalism?
There are various possible implementations of globalism. A Rightist version would be straight up imperialism, but on a worldwide scale. Military conquest of the entire planet hasn’t been attempted, despite what you might’ve heard from certain feverish wartime propaganda that still keeps getting dredged up after eight decades.
From the far Left, Communism has some rather obvious globalist dimensions. (more…)

A Conspiratorial Life: Robert Welch, the John Birch Society, & the Revolution of American Conservatism
Chicago: The University of Chicago Press, 2021
Professor Edward H. Miller has written a solid biography of Robert Welch, Jr., the founder of the anti-Communist John Birch Society. The book’s only flaw is that it is written from the perspective of a nice white liberal believer in the mainstream media and the reigning “civil rights” narrative. For example, Miller actually mentions Welch’s “white privilege.” (more…)

M. Stanton Evans: Conservative Wit, Apostle of Freedom
New York: Encounter Books, 2022
Is it possible to be a real old-school conservative or Man of the Right, and not — sooner or later — cut corners, betray your principles, sell out? Or — as we liked to put it seven or eight years ago — cuck?

“I bring out the worst in my enemies and that’s how I get them to defeat themselves.” — Roy Cohn
The following interview with H. Keith Thompson is based upon a typewritten transcription of the the original taped interview. Unless otherwise noted, additions in square brackets are in the typescript as well. There are also a number of hand-written corrections and additions on the typescript. Since the typescript was seen by Thompson, I am assuming that either he made these corrections himself or at least approved of them, so I have incorporated them where legible. For more on Thompson’s life and work, see Kerry Bolton’s excellent essay “H. Keith Thompson, Jr.“

Late in 1951 Francis Parker Yockey was approached by a member of Senator Joseph McCarthy’s staff and was asked to write the Senator a speech. This association drew the attention of the FBI. The Bureau regarded the speech as the work of Senator McCarthy, but remained uncertain about the association between McCarthy and Yockey. (more…)
