Burnout

Ondrej Mann

3,157 words

Being a nationalist activist is difficult. You can think about nationalism and more effective methods for nationalists every day, you can make websites, stickers, graphics, go to demonstrations, concerts, write to political prisoners, be a member of nationalist organizations, donate money to “Our Cause.” But you will probably still feel that things aren’t changing fast enough, that the mainstream is channeling the energy of white nationalists into safe waters—Christian nationalism (faith and values are what matter most—race doesn’t matter) and Christian Zionism, aka: Israel First, Jews are the Chosen People and our greatest ally, we must bless them and we must not criticize them.

If you are not sufficiently rewarded for your activities and do not have nationalism as a belief, sooner or later you will burn out. And it’s logical. For example, imagine that you devote 10 or even 20 years of your time and finances to anti-immigration activities. And in 10 or 20 years, you find that despite all your time, money, and effort, we as a movement are not much better off, and the immigration situation has actually worsened during those years. Being successful in WN and changing the direction of civilization is very difficult. We are facing a highly professional enemy, wealthy corporations, media owners, film companies, big tech, big pharma, the military-industrial complex, an army of psychologists and manipulators. We only have the truth and our activism, but we have no funding and limited resources, and we are ostracized and criminalized for our activities.

We have very rich and powerful enemies, but burnout is our inner enemy, and I personally believe that nihilism and burnout harm nationalists more than organized Jewish groups, woke ideology, and non-white immigration.

Here, I offer my own perspective on the matter.

What is burnout?

Burnout is a state of permanent stress that leads to total physical exhaustion, cynicism, reduced work productivity, and emotional flatness. It is a state in which you are no longer able to function effectively at work or in your personal life, your life has collapsed, and you are unable to do anything about it. Burnout has several symptoms that combine over time and function in a man as Faye’s convergence of catastrophes in civilization.

  • The person feels physical exhaustion: Chronic exhaustion, poor or interrupted sleep, frequent and sudden headaches, which may be followed by digestive problems and loss of appetite.
  • The person feels emotional exhaustion: Loss of joy in all work, cynicism, isolation from loved ones and withdrawal into oneself, comparison with others and feelings of inferiority, and a feeling that life is meaningless and that there is no point in fighting or striving for anything.
  • This is also related to reduced productivity: Such a man is unable to perform even at an average level, has problems concentrating, impaired memory, cannot recall things quickly, has no interest in communicating, and as one becomes withdrawn, one also loses one’s alertness and communication skills, so when an opportunity arises, one often misses it because one is not quick enough and cannot communicate, resulting in reduced productivity at work, in one’s personal life, and in political activism.
  • Furthermore, the person has cognitive problems: Disorganization – the person has trouble organizing his own time, is late, does not keep promises, is indecisive, and if he spends a lot of time on the computer or mobile phone, has trouble maintaining attention. All of this can lead to the breakdown of the entire personality.

What causes burnout?

Several of my colleagues are successful and well-known WN musicians and writers who have experienced burnout, so I have first-hand knowledge of this problem and can write about it with a certain authority. Readers are likely wondering what caused their burnout. As with many things, it is usually a combination of several factors and long-term unresolved problems.

As the first factor, I would definitely mention:

  • High expectations: People who are at the top of their field naively assume that if they present evidence of different IQs among different races, they will provide a sociobiological explanation for why races cannot live together. Others think they will create brilliant nationalist music with beautiful female vocalists, that they will change the world, bring about a revolution, and everything will change. Some people expect the same from the publication of their book or from their political activism. “People have been doing it wrong until now, but now I’m going to get involved, I’m going to devote a lot of time to it, and everything will be different!” But that’s not how it works, and I would call it a beginner’s mistake. These individuals always come into conflict with reality (state institutions, anti-racist institutions, anti-white media), and people have their normal lives ruined and must either recant the truth or live underground and retreat into a rabbit hole. This often destroys successful people.
  • Little public interest – If you publish on the web or publish books, make podcasts or music, you will always only appeal to a certain segment of society. Interest can only be gained through long-term activity and by improving in your field. In practically any other field, an intelligent person will gain more recognition than in WN. Keep in mind that interest does not mean that someone will support you if you get into trouble for crimethink – like Greg Johnson when he was deported from Norway or Peter Brimelow when the state of New York took him to court in a $1 million lawsuit. In reality, very few people are willing to help someone financially or by jeopardizing their own material existence.
  • Prosecution – If you are prosecuted, very few people from outside will help you, and I know that it is very difficult for such a person to ask for help because they would feel like a beggar rather than a hero and an independent person who can handle everything on their own. However, if a person is afraid to ask for help, no one will help him, and the few people who know him personally are more likely to distance themselves or spread gossip, slander, and unsubstantiated information.
  • Lack of a perspective other than WN—if a person devotes all their time and energy to WN and has no other recreational or creative interests, they are bound to burn out. Here I will share a very important thought, please consider it carefully. Political activism is not a sprint, but a marathon. I will elaborate on this further.

In the WN environment, there is long-term and excessive work stress. If you organize demonstrations, you risk being attacked by Antifa, as was the case recently on Day of Honor in Budapest, or if you live in Western Europe, where the police do not deal with Antifa violence at all, nor do they deal with the financing of this violence from the state, state funds, and political parties, as is the case in Germany and Sweden, for example. You are also likely to experience stress from doxing, as you could lose your job at any time, the location of your home could be disclosed to violent individuals, and your family could be harassed or systematically harmed.

If you are politically active, in addition to your job, you write, make stickers, spend your nights putting them up, organize nationalist tournaments and sports camps, and deal with your personal problems as well as a lot of organizational issues, you are probably stressed and lacking rest and regeneration. If you participate in events abroad and support your nationalist comrades in other countries, you will inevitably become a perfectionist and compare yourself to others because you want to organize your events better and at a higher level. If, in addition, you invest too much or everything in nationalist activities, you will inevitably neglect your work, family, relationships, and other very important things in your life, perhaps even your health. And then you may find that you are just going through the motions and that your work does not fulfill you and lacks meaning. And that is exactly when burnout sets in.

How does burnout work?

Few people think about this topic from this angle, but with WN, it’s basically a war of attrition, where the winner is whoever can stay on their feet longer and inflict more deadly strikes on the enemy. We inflict deadly strikes on the enemy through propaganda, by informing people about non-whites committing crime, and about the fact that multiculturalism is nonsense that only leads to the extinction of white people. We also strike through putting on demonstrations, by building contacts and a parallel white society, and by organizing dissatisfied white people, by calling things by their real names, and not recognizing multicultural authorities. The system strikes us with courts, doxing, Antifa thugs, harassment, etc.

Burnout does not spare street activists, writers, or top politicians. It is important to be aware of this and work with it. In my country, for example, a very successful anti-immigration politician burned out. He came from one of the most powerful political families in the land, was the chairman of a political party, had money, contacts, a program, wrote for a major online newspaper, and had a family. Of course, television and the mainstream media censored him, misinterpreted him, and spread fake news about him. He traveled with his political party to villages and told people about immigrant crime, EU censorship, and current laws, stirring up crowds of rural folks and directing their ire towards the current political system. In his spare time, this politician searched obscure and banned websites for the worst crimes committed by immigrants so that he could use them in his speeches.

In the end, this politician admitted that it was all just a circus of hatred, that he had imagined his career differently. He wanted to be a university professor, a respected writer, not a rural entertainer who arouses hatred in people, even if it is justified. This politician burned out just before the elections and never returned to politics. He also stopped writing for the major online newspaper and withdrew completely from public life. He burned out because it no longer made sense to him to travel to three villages a day and repeat his entertainment routine three times a day. And three times a day, he had to stir up the same emotions in his audience. It was no longer sincere or genuine. In the end, his performances became variety shows or mockery.

He imagined that if he explained to specific people what was causing non-white immigration to Europe, they would elect him and everything would change. But that’s not how it works. He just burned out, and nothing changed in the long run.

It took hundreds of years for Israel to come into being. Until then, Jews had to live in the diaspora and wait for the right opportunity, living their own lives rather than seeking short-term solutions when no short-term solutions were available.

In our case, the situation will probably continue to get worse, both for us (greater repression, greater paranoia about our activities, greater censorship) and for the system, because parallel non-white societies will demand greater rights, benefits, reparations, the introduction of Islamic law, etc. Our main goal will therefore be to create effective propaganda, organize people, and try to survive with our families and our white communities in a changing anti-white world. Our long term goal is definitely not to practice short-term cuckservative politics, lash out violently, wallow in despair, get ourselves locked up in prison for no reason, or burn out. In the long term, we need extreme mental resilience and to keep ourselves in the best possible physical condition. Here I would like to cite a famous quote from General George S. Patton, because that is exactly the situation we find ourselves in now. “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.”

What to do about burnout and how to prevent it?

If you have already experienced burnout and don’t have the desire or time to prevent it, I recommend the following as an emergency measure.

Immediately after burnout, eat bananas, because bananas contain the amino acid tryptophan and vitamin B6, which are essential for the production of serotonin (known as the “happiness hormone”). Serotonin, and therefore eating bananas, is also the reason why black people in Africa always smile with their clean white teeth and everyone dances even though they live in mud huts. Specifically, include bananas regularly in your long-term diet. I also recommend taking magnesium. Magnesium is essential for proper muscle and nervous system function, reduces fatigue and exhaustion, promotes mental well-being, and helps regulate blood pressure and blood sugar levels. It is also important to get a good night’s sleep and tidy up your room or entire apartment after sleeping, and tell your friends and family about your burnout. This could save your life.

If you haven’t experienced burnout yet, I recommend prevention. Here are a few personal tips to help you.

White people do white things. Be among your own people and among creative people. Some white nationalists, due to their nihilism and mental health issues, are best left behind. You don’t need extremely toxic people in your life.

Learn to say no! Get involved in WN only as you see fit. It is better to do less and not burn out than to take on a professional project alone and burn out in two years. I could name a few specific writers and websites here. Too much commitment and too high expectations are detrimental to our cause. I am sure readers can name a few examples themselves. I have already written that political activism is a marathon, not a sprint. Maybe sometimes we feel that we don’t have enough time, that there aren’t the right people for activism, that we have to change the whole system right now at any cost, that it has all gone too far and that everything has to change right now. But that is not the case. It is very important to set boundaries so that we can keep up with everyday necessities; we cannot sacrifice everything for WN. We will not achieve our goal tomorrow, and probably not even in a year, but we desperately need the energy and enthusiasm for long-term activism.

Have lots of hobbies outside politics. Politics is crap and, to a large extent, a perpetual disappointment. You will never get exactly what politicians promise you and what you want, so don’t be disappointed by politics.

Unpersonal heroism. Do the right thing regardless of the consequences. Some things are great to create and experience even if there is no immediate benefit. For example, I wrote a 20-part literary cycle in Czech called (Dissidents of the 21st Century). It is about people who are persecuted in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for their opinions (yes, just for their political opinions). I wrote it at a time when everyone claimed that we had freedom of speech, but that was not true. And no one fought for freedom of speech for nationalists in our country. I was the only person in our country who stood up for those who were politically persecuted and gave them a medial space to express themselves. I started somewhere, and later a society for the defense of freedom of speech and a movement against censorship was formed in our country. It is good that WN supports freedom of speech, because we have the truth that is forbidden and must be heard. Therefore, if we can argue, we will defeat our enemies, and on this path, it will only be good if we appeal to honest and idealistic white people. Many things created today will be appreciated in time or after our death; this is often the case with great artists and thinkers.

Make your own things. My girlfriend and I dry lungwort, rose hips, and coltsfoot for homemade teas. We make homemade tinctures and wild garlic pesto. If I had a good partner, I would start a business selling these homemade products. We also want to make our own soap. A friend of mine keeps bees and makes homemade honey and mead.

Hang out with artists, musicians, interesting people. Don’t let yourself be pushed to the margins of society. That’s exactly where the system wants you.

Maintain good family relationships, even if you are the black sheep of the family and almost no one in your family agrees with you. Do something for your parents and relatives. Organize a family dinner (good food brings people together), call them, thank them, visit them, and help them with the garden or whatever they need. In the end, it’s usually only your family who will support you.

Collecting. Think about whether there is something you could collect, whether something has appealed to you for a long time, and just start. Personally, I collect stamps and used to participate in philatelic competitions and exhibitions. I have quite a nice collection. My uncle collects sugar packets from hotels and photographs of manhole covers from different cities.

Small pleasures. Treat yourself and your partner to small pleasures and brighten up your everyday life with little things.

Don’t fall into a routine. Try to do things a little differently every time, take a different route home, explore something new.

Keep your word. This shows self-respect, people will respect you and seek you out more. If you don’t keep your word, you are unreliable and promise things you don’t intend to deliver, you’ve already lost.

Spending time in nature. It may seem trivial, but it is important for people. Humans are part of nature and belong there; the gray environment of the concrete jungle with flashing advertisements is unnatural for us. And our psyche pays the price. Spending time in nature helps reduce stress hormones such as cortisol, improves immunity, stimulates the senses, including smell and hearing, improves sleep, and has a positive effect on blood pressure and overall heart and vascular health.

Healthy lifestyle. Physical activity, sports, gym, woodcarving, blacksmithing, building a house, physical work in the garden. And try to innovate and change something in your life. Breathing exercises are also good.

Pet. Get a pet, it will show you its love, and if you have an animal and have to take care of it, you can’t afford to burn out. Many great men in history had pets.

You may have been expecting some kind of magic recipe for dealing with burnout, but there is no such thing. These are just common but effective tips that I have tested on myself, my friends, and people who have experienced burnout. These people have returned to their lives, and burnout has actually made them stronger and taught them to work better with themselves and their needs. If you have experienced burnout yourself or in your environment, whether you agree or disagree with the above, please let me know in the comments.

Great article with excellent insight. Thankfully I haven’t experienced any burnout. I see positive trends heading in our direction.
With that said, I have a question for Greg or any of the staff at Counter-Currents. I just read that President Trump signed an executive order making it illegal to debank people for political beliefs. Does this have any effect on Counter-Currents?

I think that’s a bit oversimplified. From what I’ve read, it seeks to hold discriminatory banks accountable under fair lending laws, and basically just applies to loans and maybe offers of credit. It probably would not apply to bank accounts. It probably could be argued to apply to access to credit cards, but maybe not access to credit-card processing.

Are you saying they can seize our bank accounts for being a member of a white nationalist organization? 🙃

They can certainly close your bank account. And I’ve seen reports that one company not only closed the accounts of those on the “far right” but also kept the money in them.

I’ve heard of a big payment facilitator site that not only shut down accounts for thoughtcrime, but also kept any remaining funds.  That’s theft, of course, but probably “legal” because of some “we can do whatever we want because fuck you” clause buried in the fine print.

During the truckers protest over the Covid Lockdowns a few people had their accounts frozen: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/22/world/americas/canada-protest-finances.html

More recently a lawyer involved with said truckers strike had her business account debanked because she made two cryptocurrency transactions: https://financialpost.com/fp-finance/banking/lawyer-freedom-convoy-protesters-cut-off-bank-customer

I guess we should keep some cash under the mattress for when we unknowingly cross some trip wire 🙂

This is a great article. People in our sphere who are consumed by Our cause must be here because they are spiritually healthy enough to think about their past and their future from before and beyond them. Ironically, in this world that is so sick because it wants to dissolve the past and melt the future that spiritual health is ground down. The Regime cannot have spiritually healthy people. Largely, it is confused. It confuses people who are ambitious with people who are healthy. Those two things can be orthogonal to each other or they can be complimentary.

In any case, people in this sphere have taken up a great burden. The demographic replacement is a juggernaut. Even the people to whom we find some redress, like Trump, are compromised by valuing the pursuit of commerce and accumulation of status through wealth and credentials.

You are right to point out that we cannot hold off the tidal wave. That accumulated and constant weight becomes a crushing blow in time. Our souls are so healthy that they refuse to take the poison and become sick. They survive by living in revulsion at the ever increasing disfuguration of our countries, neighborhoods, workplaces and culture. We must be content with building and creating at a scale that is attainable. But that is not enough. We must seek and cultivate the beauty of all that we hold dear. We must let go of the fear that the posterity that we want so badly to fight for and preserve will just capitulate and give in. That is my biggest fear. What if they just don’t value our race and give in to the great brown goo?

It is tough to let go of what we cannot control. I guess in the end we just have to love them and enjoy them and hope that cultivating the light with them makes them want to carry it forward; living torches proudly holding and emanating the light of our ancestral flame.

This is a good topic, and I am glad CC thought to publish a thoughtful presentation of it.

Thank you for your honest and profound comment. I completely agree that we must think about things in the long term and build things for eternity. We must take care of our own mental health and persevere in working for Our Cause in this crazy world.

I am very glad that CC published my article on burnout. Burnout is a topic that is rarely discussed, yet it is a major problem that affects many of our people. It is a good step forward to discuss and seek solutions to this problem.

The regime is confused. This can get complex, but we need to focus on the positives, and we do have some positives. The regime can’t keep a monopoly on the truth and information without resorting to North Korean levels of censorship and oppression. Many people are beginning to realize that you can’t maintain a first world nation unless whites are in charge. A recent example of this would be the L.A. wildfires and the incompetence of their politicians. The failure of non-whites to maintain infrastructure is another example. I’ll cite two other examples that I and other commentators write about a lot on CC, that is the military and higher education. During President Biden’s term the quality and the quantity of the military decreased. You mentioned that the regime confuses the ambitious with the healthy. A good example of that would be a lot of these pro-diversity, anti-white generals and admirals who advanced their careers at the expense of competence and victory. I’m not going to cite any examples. I’ve done that in the past and you can refer to previous articles on the CC website. This same regime can’t explain why twenty years in Afghanistan was wasted. What resulted was a dramatic decrease in recruiting numbers. The air force didn’t have enough pilots, the army dropped requirements for a high school diploma, the navy dropped its requirement for recruits to have a high school diploma for the first time in its history. Higher education also went through somewhat of a reckoning. The non-white golems the Jews helped create turned against them on many college campuses. Many of the academic credentials of the non-whites who run universities, especially the ivy leagues, became exposed as fraudulent. A decrease in enrollment across the country occurred, a decrease in students pursuing bogus degrees occurred. An increase in enrollment in trade schools increased, especially among whites. That particular aspect is good because it means whites will be able to make a decent living, support white families, and avoid leftist political indoctrination. A lot of younger whites who take this path will avoid the indentured servitude of the student loan program. There are some other bright spots as well. President Trump, despite his faults, is at least trying to do something about immigration. The general public is starting to question whether or not, support for Israel is worth it. They are also starting to question whether or not any military involvement in the third world is worth it, as opposed to blindly agreeing with the regime. There has been a push back against DEI and Cultural Marxism in both the public and private sector. This will have to be maintained once Trump is out of office. This latest American Eagle Jeans ad is good example. If a democrat gets back in office, the anti-white left will resort to its usual methods without fear of resistance. We need to remain vigilant. We also need to continue to publicize non-white crime. Although the examples I’ve listed are multi-complex, I do consider them as a success for our cause. Finally, we have artificial intelligence. That is a wild card because it is going to affect a lot of things. I bring it up because we have the potential to create our own entertainment and documentaries without the regimes finances, censorship, and control.

Yes, it is a complex topic and everything is interconnected. Czech sociologist Petr Hampl writes well on this topic. On the selection of elites in a liberal regime—here, weak people who are capable of scheming and producing results that are completely unrealistic win. People who are capable of scheming build huge social networks. These people will never stand up for what is right because of their cowardice. It has gotten to the point where we are ruled by the worst people and psychopaths. And these people are the same in corporations, the military, NGO’s, and politics. It is a systemic feature, not a mistake. What do you do to maintain your mental health?

There are a few things that I do to maintain my mental health and you mentioned them, being outdoors in nature and music. Hunting is my favorite hobby, and I devote a lot of time to it. I do other outdoor activities, as well when I can, this includes fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, and bushcraft. You can do any of those year-round and be casual about it. With hunting, you have to take advantage of the limited window of time that hunting season is. I get a sense of satisfaction when I can successfully pattern deer. Being in the fall woods after it cools off is big stress reliever. I’m slowly getting into outdoor survival or bushcraft. Combing old and new technologies into something like fire making, I find interesting. The spirit of Otzi lives in European man. The second thing is heavy metal. I’m not a musician, but I try to attend as many concerts or festivals as I can. With both of these you set politics aside.

He is building an underground elite in the Czech Republic. Petr Hampl has written several books in Czech, and one has been published in English by Arktos Publishing. I don’t agree with him on everything, but he’s doing a great job.

This subculture was quite lively in the 1980s; it was the largest subculture in our country at the time. People went out into nature a lot, built natural huts, and sang folk songs outdoors. My parents were tramps. Today, this subculture is almost dead.

This was a very wise, thoughtful article.

The only thing I might add is that it is easier to get discouraged when you are going at it alone. The first two-and-a-half years or so that I paid attention to racial issues and read racialist sites, before I had any writings published, were very lonely and alienating. I would donate money and was in a few Twitter group chats, but that was it. I did not have any friendships, online or offline, with others who shared my views, and the few times I tried to bring up these topics to people I knew, it did not go well (This was my own fault, as I, not knowing any better, went about it in a clumsy, ineffective way). So, I pretty much kept my thoughts to myself. During this period, there were a few points when I wondered if I was just some weirdo wasting his time with eccentric ideas.

Now that I’ve met and gotten to know some other people in our movement and brought a couple of friends over to our side, that feeling of loneliness and alienation is gone. Even though I might literally be “working alone” when I write an article, I know that I am also working alongside others who share a common purpose.

Boy is a regular pick up needed. Considering the intense level of propoganda and abuse whites are subjected to for decades, it would be crazy to not feel dispirited frequently. I love my country deeply, and want my fellow Western brothers and sisters to survive and thrive.

Great article! I believe that we will lose all of our countries. I believe that we will become despised minorities in every country we reside in. I believe that this dispossessed state will last between 500–1,000 years. I believe that we will come out of this dispossessed state a stronger, cohesive, and loyal race after shedding Christianity, democracy, liberalism, etc. It is ineluctable what we are facing. 🙃

      —

I noticed that weird advice, too..

No offense, Ondrej, but you are not writing to serious, determined White separatists that I know or have known with your personal experiences. Weak, inexperienced people may find your advice helpful.

Much of what you’ve written strikes me as defeatist.

Even our best White activists get down occasionally, but “burnout,” as you call it, should always be temporary. When feeling enervated, slow down, pace yourself, re-energize and get back in the fray. Never quit.

As you know I promote the teachings of the man who arguably was the most outstanding leader of our race during the second half of the 20th century, William Pierce. This classic speech of his from 42 years ago can be listened to here: “Deleted from YouTube: William Pierce’s Out of the ‘Darkness’” at nationalvanguard.org. It is recommended for whenever one of us feels  down, disappointed with the progress of our work for the Cause:

TWO THOUSAND years ago the poet Ovid wrote that night is a sadder time than day. I know that’s always been true for me. When discouraging thoughts come, it’s usually at night.

Actually, I’m pretty cheerful most of the time. But it used to be that, occasionally, when I was working alone in the National Office late at night, a black thought would come into my mind — always the same thought. It was that there’s not enough time to do what I must do. It was that something will happen to me before the Alliance is strong enough to survive and continue growing without me.

Then a feeling of desperation would come over me and I would have to fight off an almost overpowering urge to do whatever I could to speed things up — to go back to the quick and dirty methods that I had tried in past years. Now, I didn’t yield to that urge because I had already found out the hard way that the quick and dirty methods don’t yield lasting results. I knew that we had only one shot at winning this war we’re in, and it has to be a good shot. We can’t miss. We can’t build something that is flimsy or false. We have to do it exactly right, or it won’t work. But doing it right sometimes seems painfully slow. And it would be futile, self-defeating, if in my care to do it right I didn’t get enough of it done so that others could carry on before I was overtaken by disease, or by an accident, or even by an assassin….

It was never a matter of quitting. I never worried that all of my hard work was being wasted in the sense that I could have been spending my time more enjoyably. From the time I started, there was only one thing that I could do — even if there were no hope at all of winning. I couldn’t stop even if I had wanted to. Nevertheless, whether I was working willingly or unwillingly, the occasional late-night feeling that it was all for nothing was quite distressing.

Fortunately, daylight generally had the effect of dispelling my gloom, and so I was able to present a cheerful face to the world. Now, the only reason that I’m making this confession to you is that my black thoughts are a thing of the past. If I still had them, I certainly wouldn’t tell you about them. But the fact is that I have not been gloomy about our prospects for at least the last year– and I still work late, alone, in the National Office at night. What’s made the difference is the results of our recruiting during the past year….

Listen to more of this exceptional talk at the link.

I used to grab my copy of George Lincoln Rockwell’s autobiographical This Time the World when I’d feel sorry for myself. Reading it would pick me up. GLR was no quitter, no matter how bad things were going for him at any time. His story is worth reading by any of us when feeling the burn.

      Maybe eat a banana while reading it.  ;o}

I will just repeat what has already been said in the article. Burnout is our inner enemy and harms us more than woke activists and the organized Jewish community.

Burnout affects politicians, writers, and street activists. Here are a few people who have burned out: a few very good singers, Czech politician Vaclav Klaus Jr., Gabor Vona (Jobbik), and quite a few writers. This also applies to very serious people who are the driving force behind our movement. I don’t want to name everyone who burned out, but there are a huge number of these people. I also have personal experience with burnout.

Surely you know Andrew Hamilton? I also know a few writers from CC who have burned out. Have you also experienced a deep crisis or burnout? Do you know anyone close to you who has gone through burnout? Burnout is much worse than a short-term feeling of despair. We need to talk about this and look for solutions.

Burnout also affects left-wing activists. And these people have entire organized programs to bring individuals back to activism. They know that a fanatically devoted individual is invaluable to their cause in the long run.

It is a mistake to cite me as an example of burnout. Possession of both a moral center and a sense of duty precludes this, despite my lack of unwarranted optimism. Also, your “burnout” criteria do not apply.

The assertion that “nihilism [?] and burnout harm nationalists more than organized Jewish groups, woke ideology, and non-white immigration” is unpersuasive.

On the contrary, Jewish (and of course philosemitic) totalitarianism in the service of fanatical and psychopathological determination to commit white genocide, combined with burning hatred, iron will, and the means and ability to do so (with ease!), are far and away the primary causes of burnout.

Ondrej Mann: August 9, 2025  I will just repeat … Burnout is our inner enemy and harms us more than… the organized Jewish community… a few people who have burned out: George Burdi [etc.] … Surely you know Andrew Hamilton?

          —

Did Burdi “burn out” or simply switch sides? My memory is that he renounced racism and White nationalism as part of a plea offer that kept him from serving a year in jail on a trumped up Canadian assault charge. I’ve never met AH but we’ve corresponded and NV has archived 147 of his excellent essays, here: “Andrew Hamilton” at nationalvanguard.com.

I don’t know that AH burned out, or simply stepped away from the grind like Jim Goad apparently has done after years of service. Folks would do well to read AH’s 2012 C-C article and comments below it: “Flawed Racism”. He spoke then of my mentor:

My opinion is that the anti-white racism of the Jews is of an entirely different order than the racism of other non-whites. The racism of the latter is fundamentally taught or learned or culturally-acquired racism.

The hatred of the Jews, on the other hand, is virulent, implacable, eternal, and homicidal. It burns within, and will never leave them.

Whites Are Neither Good Nor Evil

William Pierce also taught that the vast majority of whites are neither good nor evil; they will think and behave in whatever manner the powers that be direct them to. Most people, that is, will conform and obey, no matter what. (Pierce called them “lemmings.”)

Only a tiny handful, he said, are truly good or evil—he estimated 1 to 3 percent in either direction. For some reason he believed the number of “good” people, though exceedingly small, was roughly double the number of intrinsically bad people… Nevertheless, people’s beliefs and behaviors can change radically. Change (for the worse) during my lifetime has been massive. Of course, it is easier to destroy than to build.

Unfortunately, if Pierce’s assumptions are correct—and, apart from his optimistic overestimation of the number of good to evil people, they appear to be—then it is comparatively easy with modern technology and dedicated ruthlessness for a small, domineering elite to continuously identify and destroy the tiny handful of good people on the margin, as they did under Communism and have continued to do in the post-WWII era…

We all should hope to find a wise mentor to guide us; my primary mentor was Pierce. I had others prior to meeting him from whom I mostly learned what not to do. I assume your mentor, if you’ve had one, was someone in the Czech Republic. Diet, exercise, hobbies, etc, aside, your and my experiences in “this thing of ours,” particularly on the issue of burnout, are vastly different.

Like I told you, no offense intended. Let me know how you feel about burnouts after you’ve survived several of them, operating at the highest levels of our cause for 40 years.

Under the article, I asked people to write comments expressing their agreement and disagreement, too. It’s okay if we don’t agree on a topic. I am glad that most people like the article and that it resonates with them. And that it is the first article on the topic of burnout on CC. Today, two professional writers wrote to me and praised this article. I believe you will enjoy the other articles I am preparing on films and classical music. Over time, there will be much more from me on CC.

I didn’t have a direct mentor, but there are people I admire. From the US, it’s Stephen Flowers & Michael Moynihan, and from the Czech Republic: Josef Váchal, Alfréd Kubín, Ladislav Klíma. I collect the works of these artists.

Yes, I wanted to add something funny with a lot of imagination to a rather depressing article. And this was exactly the image this article needed. Eating bananas is really healthy, as is watching what you eat, putting together a balanced diet, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

I’ll add that burnout can go both ways.  Demoralization propaganda can do wonders, including relentless ridicule of their stupid beliefs.  Lots of leftist radicals are already miserable for many reasons:  cognitive dissonance, self-flagellation, pressure to conform, that $200k student loan for an underwater basket weaving degree, other personal factors, etc.  Think about it – a bunch of them can’t figure out which sex they are, even though they take a leak a few times a day.

See:  3 Things I Learned From Being A Marxist | Return of Kings (theredarchive.com)

One word of caution, though – this isn’t about being a dick just to be a dick.  It’s to rebuke them until they stop misbehaving, and then hopefully find something better to do with their lives.  Save the worst punishment for the worst of them.  For the moderates, treat them more like lost souls who’ve been lied to relentlessly.

I find The Psychopathic Left to be well-documented and hard-hitting.  Like the author, I’m also familiar with the Frankfurt School’s attempts at psychologizing their opponents.  Well, the shoe doesn’t feel too good when it’s on the other foot, now does it?  My favorite part of the book was the one about Lenin’s brain.  Truth is stranger than fiction…

I look forward to seeing you at the next CC meeting in Europe. I will be there with my girlfriend. Did you know that the German government confiscated and examined the brains of RAF members? While we speaking of Lenin’s brain and Kerry Bolton’s book Psychotic Left…. Kerry Bolton is a good author. Now, on the subject of the RAF and related topics, I am preparing something authentic for CC.

After the death of the RAF leaders, the German government illegally seized the brains of Baader, Meinhof, Ensslin, and Raspe so that scientists at the Neurological Research Institute at the University of Tübingen could study them.

Yesterday, I read an essay by Pierce that Will Williams recommended here, and I gave myself a banana. Have a banana too and enjoy the good mood.

    “Personally, I collect stamps”

Nice hobby. I started recently collecting coins, during the 2020 peak-retard year. I do it slowly and low-key just by looking at the coins I get in change doing daily commerce. The US Quarter program is a fine thing, even the latest “women heroes” quarters, and I have read that they have made breakthroughs in coin artwork starting in this century right up to now. It has to be white men doing this, working hard and being brilliant despite all the disaster happening around them. It’s too bad that coins and currency are disappearing. Coins, at least, are becoming stunningly good looking.

Yes, it’s great to have or acquire a new hobby. I collect stamps, I have collected all stamps from the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (including rare pieces) and all stamps from the Czech Republic up to 2008.

My friend has a great collection of stamps from pre-communist Russia. Stamps from the German Reich, the Republic of Fiume, and the General Government are also good to collect.

I collect stamps with a bird theme. I even had my bird stamps on display at a stamps exhibition. I used to participate in philatelic competitions and was a member of a philatelic club. Now I don’t have as much time for this hobby as I would like. I work a lot and write articles for CC.

I would add to the list: Get involved with your community, if at all possible. It’s more helpful than you might think.

I had this quite enlightening experience when, after several years of doing volunteer work with our local cemetery group, I outed myself as an AfD voter. A lady from the group was going on about how a supermarket chain was taking a stand against the AfD… and I just said, “If they don’t want my money, they are not getting it.” Her face was priceless.

Now, we all know that the AfD is not exactly White Nationalist, but what matters is that this lady, like many “normies”, has been sold on the idea that it’s the second coming of Adolf. So she has known me for years as this nice woman she gets along with very well – therefore this came as a bit of a shock! My point is: To many people out there, we are some kind of bogeyman. We are not quite real to them. They know we exist somewhere, because the media tells them so, but they don’t expect us to be normal people they might actually know and like.

So get involved, even if it’s just low-key stuff. Allow them to get to know you. Leave politics out of it until later. If we want to normalize our ideas, we have to be seen as normal.

Yes, of course.  It’s a crucial topic; if we grow weary in well-doing then the message necessarily doesn’t get out.  However, we also need to remember that effectiveness sometimes comes by counterintuitive means.  The most obvious one of these is sleep: Want to be maximally effective?  Fine, give up one-third of your life to inactivity (i.e. sleep).

Like sleep, there is the furlough principle practiced by soldiers and missionaries.  And we should recognize that to take these periodic breaks (whatever form they take, and how often we rest, differs from person to person) doesn’t mean that we have either quit White Nationalism or failed to be net productive.

Personally, I have to take periodic breaks from interacting with other White Nationalists in comment threads.  Why?  Because, let’s be honest (and this is not unique to White Nationalists), internet interaction is often staggeringly poisonous.  We can pretend all day that we are unfazed, but I don’t buy it.  It certainly isn’t true for me, although maybe that’s a design flaw with the INFJ wiring, but I think most others are the same, even if they try to hide it.

Your “White people do white things” point is very important.  Speaking for myself, I’m not in this scene because I like to LARP as a village-raiding Chariot Chad, or pretend I like the Roman Empire more than I do, or to “own” any one of our ideological enemies (though I certainly do want to defeat them).  I’m in it to do my small part to eventually end up where “doing white things” is normal again anywhere white people live and white people doing them are protected, explicitly.

You really put some great thought into your “How to avoid burnout” list.

Yes, James. a determined, separatist-minded White needs continuous validation and support among his own like-minded kin in a real world, exclusively pro-White community.  Dave Chambers describes something like “burnout” in multiracial America, here, with his own “staggeringly poisonous” online experience for a couple of years:

…The first two-and-a-half years or so that I paid attention to racial issues and read racialist sites, before I had any writings published, were very lonely and alienating.

White separatists follow Nature’s laws and are neither eccentric nor weird, but normal, desiring to be among their racially responsible own exclusively. Dave did not give up and has become a more effective communicator for our cause, and apparently found his own circle or cell of like-minded Whites to associate with offline. That is empowering.

Connor McDowell: August 10, 2025…Recently Ron Unz reposted an Anglin article about Tucker Carlson…

          —

Heysus Christos, Mr. McDowell! You would do well to take James’s advice and stay away from so-called “White Nationalist” sites altogether, if the best you do is go to a  multi-millionaire racial Jew like Ron Unz’s site to read what nutcase Anglin has to say about multi-millionaire mainstream media hypocrite Carlson. That is a surefire formula for misdirection and eventual burnout.

Yes, Twitter/X is a great example of a place to find the fruitless interactions I’m talking about avoiding.  There are good and useful accounts on X that disseminate news/information and make metapolitical inroads, to be sure, but for every one of those there are many, many more that just go nowhere and do nothing but sow discord, nominal White Nationalists, being horrible examples by their rudeness, turning away people who might otherwise be persuaded by maturity and civility.  Someone behind an avatar and a pseudonym has about zero incentive to behave himself, whereas that same guy shaking another man’s hand and looking him in the eye does.

    August 10, 2025 at 10:10 pm

I’d like to offer something else that nationalists should avoid: Turning into a paranoid crank.

Recently Ron Unz reposted an Anglin article about Tucker Carlson..(he, meaning Anglin, seems to be going mad). The comments are every bit as schizophrenic as the article itself.

Case in point: Someone in the comments accuses Tucker Carlson of being a CIA asset. It is reasonable to be suspicious of any mainstream media personality, and Carlson has a family background linked to the CIA…but like many of us, I’ve been following Carlson for years. Remember the writer or producer that was found to have been active on alt-right sites and was doxxed and fired by Fox? Remember Carlson himself being fired by Fox? Why would that happen if he was a CIA asset? The paranoia gets the best of some people. Occam’s Razor says: Tucker Carlson is an elite figure whose personal background has give him access a privileged journalism career. When he was at Fox, he played by Fox’s rules up to a point, but pushed the envelope. Having left Fox, he still pushes the envelope but knows he would be personally destroyed if he crossed too many elite disapproved taboos. That doesn’t mean he’s actively working AGAINST white people’s interests. He lives in a world of nuance.

So then another crank commenter comes along and accuses Anglin of being an alphabet agency asset. LMFAO. I’ve got a pretty clear picture of what Anglin is. I think he’s truly a well meaning guy who absolutely exists on “the autism spectrum”, at least in his tendencies toward OCD thinking and lack of nuance. He’s driven his own self into obscurity after being quite relevant 10-15 years ago. In fact, I think he wears the badge of “world’s most censored publication” as an honor and made a failed attempt at marketing himself that way. Like it or not, we all have to maintain a reasonable degree of decorum if we want people with any degree of real influence or power to promote us or if we want to appeal to the American working and middle class who have been most damaged by elite policy decisions. Imagining a forest of trees with hook noses and little hats hiding behind every one of them is never going to win the hearts and minds of ordinary people who simply want their children to go to schools that prioritize math, English, and science over sexual identity and diversity. No matter how much truth there is in the Jewish Question, we will never achieve anything by tilting at windmills.

So how we have accusations of Tucker Carlson and Anglin being alphabet agency assets, but both of these figures are often at odds when it come to their agendas. Does this mean that the CIA and FBI are schizophrenic too? The Right Hand and Left Hand are punching each other through Carlson and Anglin as surrogates?

And then another commenter chimes in to declare Nick Fuentes to be the actual alphabet asset. (As well as a homosexual). Nick Fuentes was placed in service of the alphabet agencies to expose Tucker Carlson (who is also working for the alphabet agencies). It all becomes so much clearer when you realize that EVERYONE is actually an agency asset. Even as I type this post, I must consider that Dr Johnson and Ron Unz are collecting information about all of us to give over to the government. I don’t have enough tin foil to protect myself from all of these attacks.

Thank you for opening this topic. I believe you will discuss more of such untold themes in the future.

You have mentioned that you have also experienced the burnout. Have any of your recommendations worked for you?

I also appreciate the richness of your language. What has touched me the most is your sentence: “Humans are part of nature and belong there; the gray environment of the concrete jungle with flashing advertisements is unnatural for us. ” I totally agree with that, living in the city gives me the same feeling. I would be glad if you could clarify what led you to this idea.

Thank you for your recognition. Yes, changing my lifestyle and my family helped me the most. It was a difficult period for me, and I am glad that I got through it. It is definitely better to prevent burnout.

In cities, I dislike large gray concrete areas, impersonal modern factory and warehouse buildings; there is no room for beauty, as is the case with Art Nouveau buildings, for example. I really dislike flashing advertisements and advertising smog in cities; I would ban this and punish it very harshly if I came to power. In contrast, when I visit my girlfriend at her parents’ farm in the countryside, which is located in a secluded spot near a forest, I am very happy and find plenty of inspiration for writing and art. In nature, I enjoy simply being, and I don’t need anything else. This kind of joy is most often experienced in childhood.

You will definitely read more of my articles about things that are not often discussed, so keep reading CC and let yourself be surprised. Do you have any experience with spending time in nature or burnout?

I do agree that there is no room for beauty not only in the cities, but anywhere else.  It might be interesting for me to read what an individual can do to face this gray yet flashing disgrace which surrounds us. That place you describe must be very inspiring.

I have not experienced any burnout. Not yet. But I have spend quite long time surrounded by nature, far from civilization and that time I found myself was the most happy in my life.
