Washington Post Attacks Counter-Currents

Greg Johnson
AgostinoCarracciManSubduingaHarpy1

Agostino Carracci, Man Subduing a Harpy

550 words

Imagine my delight when I noted that “Counter-Currents.com” is the first word of Caitlin Dewey’s Washington Post article “Amazon, PayPal and Spotify inadvertently fund white supremacists. Here’s how.” In fact, the article focuses almost entirely on Counter-Currents, which I take as a sign that we are doing something right.

Dewey reports on the ongoing campaign of a Jewish Supremacist hate group, the Southern Poverty Law Center, to strangle Counter-Currents financially by pressuring Amazon.com to stop selling our books and PayPal to stop processing our transactions. The SPLC has been doing this for some time, actually. See my article “Counter-Currents Under Attack” from last February.

Why does the SPLC want to silence us? Because they know that Leftist ideas cannot stand up to intellectual scrutiny and free debate, and they fear Counter-Currents because we are creating an intellectually rigorous, exciting, and aggressive metapolitical movement that threatens the Left’s ideological hegemony.

The SPLC adopts such tactics because, unfortunately, they work. Counter-Currents is not even five years old, and we are quite financially vulnerable. We could find alternatives to Amazon and PayPal, but it would definitely be a setback, and we do not have any margin for error. Every month, I work 60 hour weeks and just barely scrape by. A significant reduction to my income would simply take me out of the game.

By contrast, according to the SPLC’s latest IRS 990 form their income for the fiscal year ending last Halloween was $54,420,509 (that’s fifty-four million . . .) and they had a total of $314,748,132 (three-hundred fourteen million . . . ) in the bank.

The Washington Post article has amplified the SPLC’s efforts considerably. Thus there is every reason to think that, eventually, PayPal and Amazon may cave in to increased pressure. I want to be ready for that, so I am starting the 2015 Counter-Currents Summer Fundraiser early this year, and I am raising my fundraising goal for $40,000 to $60,000. (To give you some perspective, the black minister Rev. Creflow Dollar is trying to raise $60 million from his flock to buy himself a Gulfstream jet.)

As a special thanks, I will give an autographed hardcover copy of my book New Right vs. Old Right to anyone who donates $315 or more. All I need is a million such donations to equal the bank account of the SPLC, which is just one of many anti-white hate groups.

Obviously, this is a matter of some urgency. If you wait too long, it might be much more difficult to give.

    Congratulations on your “arrival.”
US$315 (C$412 – ouch) is donated and may you have a wonderful summer . As California wilts in the summer sun may Counter-Currents blossom.

If the Washington Post had an ounce of integrity, they would look into the $PLC’s money-making practices as well, not just Counter-Current’s.

Year after year, the $PLC consistently over-hypes the threat of “right-wing violence” and “hate groups” (usually in the South or in red states) from their well-heeled cosmopolitan donors (in blue states on the coasts), making hay off of age-old American rural/urban prejudices.

The way in which the $PLC plays fast and loose with what constitutes a “hate group” and the numbers, size, and impact of such groups is well known and easy to google. Other criticism includes that coming from non-profit watchdog groups who have noticed that the $PLC is best at raising money, not so good at doing very much with the money other than paying its top executives stunningly high, private sector-style salaries (top dogs make over $300k/yr).

And so the massive pile of treasure they’ve amassed, parked in offshore savings accounts, grows larger and larger year after year. Yet the hyperbolic, fear mongering fundraising appeals never end. In an ethical universe the $PLC would pay groups like Counter-Currents a cut since they have grown fabulously wealthy off of them!

Or at least in an ethical universe the $PLC would stop hammering its donors for money and actually do an honest days work. But apparently one doesn’t get into the “hatewatch” business if one actually wants to work for a living.

Remember to withdraw some of those donations on a regular basis from Paypal. The usual procedure when Paypal takes action is to freeze the account, making it impossible for you to withdraw your cash – or at least delay it for up to a year or more. Just to prevent this years fundraiser to be locked up.

Out of curiosity, why is Pay Pal so important when you can just take a credit card or anonymous debit card that works like a credit card?

It is important because a lot of people use it, and if they cannot use it, some will hesitate and many will simply refuse to try other payment methods. It is just an empirical fact about human behavior. And with financially marginal projects, little things like that are literally the difference between life and death.

The comment section at the Washington post shows a lot of people don’t believe this guff anymore. The problem in the U.S (this is coming from the perspective of an Ulsterman) is white advocates are just not visible. Didn’t the youth bring a million men onto the streets a decade or so ago? Do you think racially conscious white people would risk showing up at a white march?
I remember Greg wrote a couple of months ago about creating a way for counter currents readers to connect and network with each other. Is this still a viable idea?

As a curious onlooker and by no means a convinced member of any movement – be it intellectual, racial or otherwise – I nevertheless find it odd that Goliath so frequently insists David enter the fight with both hands tied behind his back, and blindfolded.

If the first amendment of the United States Constitution wasn’t meant to protect the kind of sober, thoughtful and objectively high-quality writing produced by CounterCurrents’ stable, then what, indeed, do we have it for?

Thanks. The best anti-liberal argument for complete freedom of speech is the collection of glass-jawed, pearl clutching moralistic middlebrow hysterics that the left has degenerated into in its academic and media echo chamber. This is why the Right is so attractive to real intellectuals: we are kept in fighting form by real debate, mostly within our own ranks, since destroying Leftist arguments at this point is best left to the mopping up efforts of comedians and comment tolls.

There needs to be more than internal debate. I just posted a few ideas for ad-hoc, self-directed outreach: Keyboard Warriors and Magicians. It’s not for everyone, but I think some of the ideas are positive and could be well-applied by “keyboard activists” who are geographically isolated, although I’m sure the intellectual heavyweights at counter-currents have better things to do with their time.

Good point Greg. For example, I don’t consider myself WN, but for certain I appreciate Counter-Currents and other alternative right literature because it represents today’s true intellectual counter-culture, the only ideas and writing out there I find truly thought-provoking. I would gladly provide some support in the form of a donation to help keep CC alive. I am too familiar with today’s academia and it never ceases to amaze me how oblivious leftists are to the fact of their cultural dominance. It seems a kind of unconscious strategy, for them to maintain a perpetual self-image of victimhood, in rebellion against the patriarchy, etc., etc. despite the fact of their hegemony in the west. As you’ve pointed out, who would guess the SPLC is $50MM+ organization?

I use the Counter-Currents referral for all of my Amazon purchases without fail. Most browsers have various search engines built into it, e.g, Google, Bing, Ebay, Amazon. I simply replaced the default Amazon search string with the Counter-Currents associate search string -I believe it is: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=%q&tag=countercurren-20

Greg: there is a real opportunity here. With the publicity Counter Currents is getting from the Post article, there is bound to be more people coming to this website, and to websites across the Alternative Right spectrum.

Perhaps in the next several days you can post articles which appeal to a broader audience to get these people interested (I was thinking of the one CC did a while back addressing mainstream conservatives, as well as Kurtagic’s “Why I Write,” and there are plenty more). You might also push your excellent media reviews, as often people tune in for that sort of thing. And I suspect there are quite a few Lovecraft fans who will find your numerous articles and books on him fascinating.

There are a lot of people out there fed up with the left’s contradictions: how they talk about “tolerance” and “diversity” but practice neither. Hit that theme, and hit it hard–people want to see someone standing up on this issue. And there might even be defectors from the left who are looking for an alternative to capitalist globalizers. Articles such as the one on CasaPound and various European nationalists can show North Americans that there is an alternative that is intellectual, militant and exciting.

PS: And yes, give people easy ways to donate!

Thanks for your kind words. The interesting truth is that such mainstream media attention translates into almost no measurable increase in traffic, perhaps because the people who read the mainstream media are utterly intellectually complacent and lack the curiosity even to click the links embedded in the Washington Post article. Indeed, judging from the comments on the Post article, I am sending more people there than they are sending here. It is just another sign of the increasing hollowness of the establishment.

Part of it is very few people actually read major newspapers, although the people who do are more influential. I think Gawker would probably give you more exposure than the WP.

I never–literally, never–have extra cash to donate. But I have to buy certain things frequently, mostly books. I use the CC Amazon affiliate link to purchase as much as I can of the things I need: books, cat food, windshield-wiper blades, etc. I have always tended to be a “go local” guy but if any portion of my purchase can go into the hands of CC I will gladly use Amazon. So all CC readers should search on Amazon for things that they buy in drugstores, grocery stores, auto-parts shops, etc. Not only are the prices usually better but you are directly helping White people. The more money we can funnel to CC through Amazon, the less likely they are to suspend the program. I will try to do this even more. At the moment it is all I can do, but for others there is no justification not to do this in addition to other direct donations that you may be able to make. Consider Amazon your Mom and Pop store and think of Greg as its proprietor.

(I also think a more visible Amazon link on the CC homepage will make it easier and help to remind people).

I am terribly sorry and extremely angered to hear that.

It makes it even more important to network locally. I know it is probably impossible to do in this climate but some kind of list of regular businesses and services owned by White Nationalists would be very useful to make sure our money goes to the right people.

The only reason I was able to morally justify purchasing the seemingly endless supply of stupid Marxist critiques of everything under the sun was that I knew some of the money would go to CC.

Man, this is depressing. I feel like I was just gut-punched.

I wonder if you might have a tortious interference claim against WP, the author of the piece or the SPLC. They misrepresent CC (“white supremacist”) and also tar you with a brush of irrelevancies: Nazi memorabilia is available for sale on Amazon: So what? And what does that have to do with CC? For those of us who were witness to the whole “vantard” tempest in a teacup a few months back, that WP is now painting Greg and Peter Brimelow as basement dwelling, tattoo besmirched skinheads would be funny were it not libelous.

    Who Controls Amazon?
    Summary:
Of the eleven(11) Amazon.com executives, eight(8) are Jews. This is a numerical representation of 73%. Of the nine(9) Amazon.com directors, six(6) are Jews or have Jewish spouses. This is a numerical representation of 67%. Jews are approximately 2% of the U.S. population.* Therefore Jews and spouses of Jews are over-represented among the Amazon.com executives by a factor of 36.5 times(3,650 percent) and over-represented among the Amazon.com directors by a factor of 33.5 times(3,350 percent).

I’m half black and frequent C-C. While I find some of the views and opinions questionable, from a moderately neutral political perspective (although sympathetic to your cause), I find it amazing that this site would be written off the bat as a “white supremacist” hate group when a minute survey of the articles and comments displays rational argument and debate. I have a feeling that it won’t be too long before the general public begins to wake up to the Left’s hysteria.

This is a quality webzine and as one reader put it “a lightship of critical thinking”, and if I may add, sanity and breath of fresh air for any intellectually inclined person who is not satisfied with the current state of things. Keep going!

I would love to see the ideas discussed at C-C applied to black nationalism, as such is needed as much, if not more, than white nationalism. I, however, am not a nationalist of any kind, but it doesn’t take an ideology to know that multiculturalism/multiracialism is a sham and ethnonationalism, to a greater or lesser extent, is the greater good for all peoples. I just consider nationalism/racialism as an aspect of societal improvement.

I tend to like C-C because of my innate inclinations towards philosophy and the ideas discussed here are interesting and exciting. There is such a breadth of Western Tradition that WNs have to draw from to defend their position, which is unfortunately lacking in Black Nationalism.

This is rather off topic, but yeah.
