Greg Johnson talks to F. Roger Devlin about Deaths of Despair and the Future of Capitalism (Princeton University Press, 2020) by two Princeton economists: Anne Case and her husband, Nobel laureate Angus Deaton. Case and Deaton discovered the alarming rise of mortality among working and middle-class whites since 1999. We discuss the role of globalization, opioids, and anti-white hatred in rising white mortality rates. Thanks for covering this topic via the book. It was also good to hear an easy to digest breakdown of the background of the whole crisis.
i’am not buying into the 1950s advertisement romance about middle class america. It was a freak accident in history that brought us boomers and their bourguise sensibilities.
Excellent article. Whites are more likely to miscegenate with Hispanics or Asians and less likely to go with blacks. Whites go with Hispanics and Asians at about the same rate, but because there are about three times more Hispanics, it is more common overall with them. Hispanics are more common in lower socioeconomic strata, so they would presumably marry whites in those strata, so white survival is becoming sort of a function of high class. This is a good thing for people who believe high class is a proxy for eugenic betterment but bad for those who believe poor whites should stay white too. Regardless, the mestizofication of the US has begun. It will be a slow burn toward a Latin American racial caste system. Poor whites are feeling it most.
